WE'LL MOVE ON TO 20001 S U P TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING[Conduct a Public Hearing to Consider/Discuss/Act on a Specific Use Permit Request to Allow for a Self-Storage Facility (Virginia Self Storage), Located on the North Side of Virginia Parkway and Approximately 515 Feet West of Jordan Road and Accompanying Ordinance]
TO CONSIDER AN ACT ON A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT REQUEST TO ALLOW FOR SELF STORAGE FACILITY.VIRGINIA SELF STORAGE LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF VIRGINIA PARKWAY IN APPROXIMATELY 515 FT, WEST OF JORDAN ROAD. ACCOMPANYING ORDNANCE. DINNER FOR ARNOLD. THANK YOU, MR MARRIAGE, INFERNAL DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND BEFORE I BEGIN, WE DID RECEIVE ONE LETTER OF SUPPORT AFTER THE PACKET WAS CREATED. SO IN VERSES HANDING THAT OUT TO YOU ALL NOW. AS YOU NOTED, NO CAN'T READ. THERE WE GO SO AS YOU NOTED, THIS IS A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT REQUEST TO ALLOW FOR SELF STORAGE FACILITY GENERALLY LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF VIRGINIA PARKWAY IN JUST WEST OF JORDAN. FOR THOSE FAMILIAR WITH THIS AREA. IT IS SORT OF ON THAT SAME CAMPUS OR TRACKED AS IMAGINE ACADEMY. JUST ADJACENT TO THE PROPERTY IS AN EXISTING AUTO REPAIR AUTO PARTS STORE AND THE AFRICAN IS PROPOSING TO DO A SELF STORAGE FACILITY. THREE STORIES JUST TO THE WEST OF THAT EXISTING DEVELOPMENT. STAFF IS EVALUATED THE REQUEST. WE DO FEEL THAT IS AN APPROPRIATE LOCATION. THEBES PROPOSED. S U P EXHIBIT DOES CONFORM TO ALL OF THE DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS OF THE CITY. WE HAVE OFFERED A FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION ON THE REQUEST. PLANNING AND ZONING HAS ALSO RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF THE SITE. I'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY OF THE QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE ON. I BELIEVE THE AFGHANIS HERE AS WELL. GO AHEAD, JENNIFER. UH, ASKED MR GRIMES JUSTLY MORNING IF HE WOULD GET ME THE ELEVATIONS FOR THIS AND I THOUGHT THEY WERE PRODUCED IN THE PACKET THIS EVENING, AND I APPRECIATE THAT VERY MUCH. CERTAINLY REASSURED ME. AT THE PROJECT WOULD FIT IN AND. THEIR WORDS LOCATED AND I APPRECIATE YOU GOING TO THE EXTRA EFFORT TO GET THAT FOR ME AND THANK YOU, MR GROUNDS. WELL ABSOLUTELY. AND I KNOW THE APPLICANT CAN SPEAK TO THIS. BUT IN THE PACKET. ALSO WE DO HAVE A LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM IMAGINE ACADEMY AND THEY WORKED IN COORDINATED QUITE CLOSELY WITH THE SCHOOL WHO IS IN FAVOR OF IT. I THINK THERE ARE SOME PEAK HOURS WHERE TRAFFIC CONGESTION BUILDS UP TWICE A DAY DURING SCHOOL DAYS, AND SO THE SLOWER IMPACT USED ACTUALLY SEEMS TO BE FAVORABLE TO THEM. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. GOOD QUESTION. THIS THIS THIS PROPERTY KIND OF HAS THIS LITTLE. TAIL GOING OFF THERE TO THE WEST. IS THAT PART OF THERE IS A PART OF THEIR PROPERTY. I BELIEVE SO IT IS. IT IS. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE WITH THAT LITTLE. I KNOW, IT'S ON ALL OF THE AFRICAN SPEAK A LITTLE BIT MORE TO IT, BUT IT IS PREDOMINANTLY FLOODPLAIN S O, WHICH JUST COHESIVE PART OF THE TRACK, BUT NOTHING IS ABLE TO BE DEVELOPED. THERE'S NOTHING PROPOSED HERE ON THAT STP EXHIBIT FOR IT SORT OF A FLAG TO THAT LOT. OKAY SO THAT WAS PROBABLY BETTER TO BOWLING ALLEYS. YEAH. FELL AHEAD. THANK YOU. DEALS. HE'S THE APPLICANT HERE. I BELIEVE THEY ARE. HELLO I'M JOHN DAVID CROSS WITH CROSS ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS 17 20. WEST VIRGINIA PARKWAY HERE IN MCKINNEY AND. WE ALSO HAVE THE DEVELOPER AND THE LANDOWNER. HIS OWN THE PROPERTY FOR 15 18 YEARS OR SO. HEY, ALSO DEVELOPED THE IMAGINE CHARTER SCHOOL. AND. HAS BEEN INVOLVED. WE'VE BEEN INVOLVED WITH DON GASKINS, THE OWNER FOR SINCE THE ORIGINAL DEVELOPMENT, WHICH WAS THE SCHOOL AND. AND SO ORIGINALLY WHEN WE DEVELOPED THE SCHOOL, THE BIG CONCERN WAS OBVIOUSLY TRAFFIC. AND WHAT WOULD WHAT WOULD THE SCHOOL GENERATE? HOW ARE WE GOING, TOL? WORKED THROUGH ALL THOSE ISSUES AND SO. WE'VE GOT UP NOW WE'VE GOT A USER FOR THIS PROPERTY THAT IS A. IS A GOOD LOOKING NEIGHBOR THAT GENDER DOESN'T GENERATE THE GENERATES VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC AND IS A QUIET AND GOOD NEIGHBOR. WE JUST THINK IT'S A GOOD FIT FOR THE COMMUNITY. UM AND WE'VE GOT.
HE SAID. THERE'S UM THERE'S ELEVATIONS OF THE BUILDING. WE INTEND TO BUILD IN THE PACKAGE AND THE. CAN HANDLE THAT YOU MENTIONED IS REALLY OF NO USED TO THE DEVELOPMENT. WE'VE GOT
[00:10:09]
SOME FLOOD PLAIN ON THE EDGE THAT WERE JUST OFF OF THAT. I THINK THAT'S THE BLUE LINE ON THE EXHIBIT THAT YOU SEE THERE. I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THE HISTORY OF THAT IS WHY THAT GOES DOWN THERE. MAY HAVE BEEN TO CONTAIN THE DRAINAGE IS THAT THERE'S A PIPE THAT RUNS ALONG THE FRONT OF THE PROPERTY ALONG VIRGINIA THERE THAT. THAT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT.OR MAYBE SOMETHING THAT FROM THE TEXT DOT NEEDED AT SOME POINT TIME, BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T HAVE ANY ANY VALUE TO THE OVERALL DEVELOPMENT. MM. SO, UH, I LIVE IN THAT I'D BE HAPPY TO HAVE THE ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE. WE THINK IT'S FAIRLY STRAIGHTFORWARD. I DON'T THINK THERE ANY LETTERS OF RESISTANCE AND WE'VE GOT SUPPORT FROM THE NEIGHBORS. I SAW HIM. WE WON'T PUT TROOPS PRESENT UNLESS YOU HAVE, YOU KNOW, I HAVE QUESTIONS, BUT THE ONE THING THAT I APPRECIATE IT IS GETTING THE LETTERS THAT YOU DID. I MEAN, THAT'S ALWAYS NICE FOR OUR COUNCIL TO KNOW THAT THE NEIGHBORS DON'T ESPECIALLY, I THINK ME LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE UP HERE WAS OKAY. WHAT IS THIS SCHOOL? THINK ABOUT IT. THEY AND IF THEY'RE SUPPORTIVE, I'M SUPPORTIVE, SO WELL DONE. THANK YOU. OTHER QUESTIONS. GET IT.
LIKE YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU. THIS IS A PROCURING. DON'T SHOW ANYBODY HERE TO SPEAK ON THE ITEM. JUST YOU, EVERYBODY. IS THERE ANYONE HERE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO THIS ITEM? IF YOU'VE COME DOWN TO DO SO, YOU'RE WELCOME TO UP AND SPEAK TO IT NOW. SEEN NONE. ENTERTAIN A MOTION TO REMOVE WE CLOSE. THE PUBLIC HEARING IMPROVED. SECOND CAST YOUR VOTES. MIA.

I'M SURE YOU TWO BEST COMMUNITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE CITY OF MCKINNEY, AND THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO REFLECT BACK ON THE PRODUCTIVE YEAR THAT WE HAD WITH THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT. WE HAD RESOURCE IS TO BE ABLE TO ASSIST THE CITY OF COMMUNITY OF GUINEA WITH QUALITY OF LIFE INVESTMENTS TO BE ABLE TO BENEFIT PREDOMINATELY LOAD MY INCOME PERSONS, BUT IT ALSO HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO IMPACT OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY. WHETHER IT WAS IN PUBLIC SERVICES. HOUSING REHABILITATION BEING ABLE TO HAVE PHYSICAL PHYSICALLY FOUND RESOURCE IS OR TO BE ABLE TO LEVERAGE INFORMATION PUBLICLY SO THAT WE COULD TEACH OUR RESIDENTS ABOUT FAIR HOUSING OR OTHER RESOURCES. WE MADE A TREMENDOUS IMPACT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. OUR PROGRAM YOUR BEGAN OCTOBER, THE FIRST TO SEPTEMBER 30TH AND OUR FUNDING COMES FROM THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. THE OUTCOMES OF THE REPORT INCLUDES NOT ONLY PROVIDING INFORMATION REGARDING THE IMPACT OF THOSE THAT ARE HOMELESS OR THOSE THAT ARE IN NEED OF HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION, BUT WE ALSO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE IMPACT FOR INFORMATION REGARDING OUR PUBLIC HOUSING, WHICH IS MCKINNEY HOUSING AUTHORITY.THEY HAD AT THE START OF THE YEAR TO BE ABLE TO HAVE AN IMPACT, NOT ONLY TO NEW SOME HOMES THAT WE HAVE SEEN FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR, BUT ALSO THE IMPACT TO MERIT HOMES. OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT GRANTS. GIVE ME OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT GRANT, WHICH IS THE CITY'S INVOLVEMENT AND INVESTMENT LEVERAGES RESOURCE IS THAT WE HAVE IN PUBLIC SERVICES, AND WE ALSO USE OUR CDBG PROGRAM TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE HEALTH RESOURCE IS IN TERMS OF LEAD BASED PAINT, BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE OUR PROGRAM RESOURCE IS THROUGH MONITORING TO HELP OUR PUBLIC SERVICES. BE ABLE TO ASSIST WITH FAIR HOUSING, INFORMATION AND ALSO TO BE ABLE TO DETERMINE HOW WE'RE ASSISTING THE ELDERLY AND THOSE WHO ARE PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND HAVE OTHER SPECIAL NEEDS. WE HAVE REQUIREMENTS, OF COURSE, THAT WE HAVE WHERE WE HAVE TO AT LEAST ASSIST 70% OFF OUR FUNDING. WE DO AH STATE THAT WE ASSIST 100% OF ALL OF OUR FUNDING BECAUSE EVERYTHING THAT WE DO IMPACTS THE GRANT AND IMPACTS OF RESIDENTS OF OUR COMMUNITY. THIS IS JUST SHOWING YOU AN ESTIMATED DISTRIBUTION OF OUR FUNDING RESOURCES THAT WE HAVE THROUGHOUT THE GRANT, AND WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO BE FISCALLY SOUND IN TERMS OF
[00:15:03]
BEING ABLE TO UTILIZE OUR RESOURCE IS. WE HAVE? OF COURSE YOU HAVE SEEN ME OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS, MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE YEAR AS WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY NOT ONLY TO HAVE OUR CITY BIGGIE PROGRAM, BUT BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC. WE ALSO WERE AWARDED FUNDS KNOWN UNDER THE CARES ACT AS CDBG FYVIE. BECAUSE WE HAD ADDITIONAL RESOURCE IS WE ARE UTILIZING THOSE FUNDS NOW TO BENEFIT OUR RESIDENTS FOR RED FOR RENTAL UTILITY OR MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE IN THIS PROGRAM HERE. AND WERE ABLE TO CARRY THOSE RE FORCES INTO THE COMING YEAR. 159,000 THAT WE HAVE IS WHAT WE HAVE FROM THE GENERAL FUND. AND WE DO. THANK YOU CONTINUOUSLY FOR YOUR SUPPORT. THERE. WE ALSO WITH THE MAYOR SUPPORT HAVE A REAL BREATH.GIVE ME A RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM, WHICH IS ASSISTING OUR HOMELESS RESIDENTS TO BE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD AND WE ARE IN THE SECOND YEAR CURRENTLY OFF THAT PROGRAM FUNDING, ALTHOUGH WE WERE AWARDED THAT FUNDING LAST YEAR. THIS IS JUST REFLECTING AGAIN. SOME OF THE RESOURCE IS WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO USE NOT ONLY IN PUBLIC SERVICES BUT ALSO OUR HOUSING REHAB PROGRAM, AND WE NEVER LOSE OUR CDBG FUNDS BECAUSE WE DO CARRY THOSE FORD WITH YOUTH.
THIS IS SHOWING YOU DIRECT IMPACT OF HOW WE UTILIZE OUR CDBG PROGRAM FOR RESIDENTS. IT MAY SEEM LIKE A SMALL NUMBER. BUT AGAIN, THIS IS JUST DIRECT IMPACT. WHEN YOU LEVERAGE THE RESOURCE IS THAT WE HAVE WITH THE MULTITUDE OF ORGANIZATIONS THAT ALSO HAVE OTHER FUNDS. IT IS MUCH LARGER THAN THAT, AND YOU WILL ALSO SEE THAT IN TERMS OF OUR CITIZEN PARTICIPATION, A GREATLY INCREASED AS WELL. NOT ONLY BECAUSE WE DID OUR HOUSING STUDY, BUT ALSO BECAUSE WE HAD A GREATER INTEREST FROM OUR RESIDENTS. THIS IS JUST SHOWING YOU SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE HAD DURING THE PROGRAM YEAR. AND UNDER OUR CONTINUUM OF CARE, WHICH IS OUR HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM AS WELL AS ASSISTING OUR HOMELESS. WE HAD A TREMENDOUS IMPACT AS WELL BEING ABLE TO RECEIVE THE FIRST GRANT IN COLLIN COUNTY FOR RAPID REHOUSING ASSISTANCE, AND AS I SAID, IT WAS RENEWED FOR THE CURRENT YEAR THAT WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE AN ANNUAL POINT IN TIME COUNT, WHICH WE GREATLY APPRECIATE OUR PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS TO BE ABLE TO ASSIST WITH THAT AS WELL AS OUR COMMUNITY LEADERS. THROUGHOUT THAT PROCESS, WE UNDER THE COLLIN COUNTY HOMELESS COALITION, THE CITY OF MCKINNEY WAS ONE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT WAS ABLE TO FOUND THAT PROGRAM AND WE CONTINUE IN OUR PARTICIPATION TODAY. SO CITIZEN PARTICIPATION. WE HAVE A GREAT COMMUNITY. WE ALREADY KNOW THAT THIS IS JUST SHOWING YOU A PICTORIAL OF JUST A LOOK BACK AT MEALS ON WHEELS, SOME OF THE IMPACT THAT WE'VE HAD WITH NOT ONLY THOSE THAT ARE FUNDED WITH CDBG, BUT JUST OUR COMMUNITY AS WELL. SENSES 2020 MAKE MCKENNEY COUNT WITH A TREMENDOUS RESOURCE THAT WE HAD. THIS IS ALSO HOW WE UTILIZE. OUR RESOURCE IS IN TERMS OF FUNDING. WE HAVE OUR ALLOCATION, WHICH IS USED WITH CENSUS DATA, AND THAT IMPACTS US FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS. SO AS WE FIND OUT, HOPEFULLY AND LATER YEAR WHAT ARE IMPACT WAS IN TERMS OF FUNDING. WE DO KNOW THAT WE HAD TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM OUR RESIDENTS BECAUSE WE HAD 75% PARTICIPATION, AND THIS IS JUST SHOWING YOU OF SOME OF THE COMMUNITY LEADERS THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO. UM ALEX FOR THAT RESOURCE. AND THIS IS JUST A LOOK BACK AT ONE OF THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO COMPLETE A SWELL. STILL BIG ON BEHALF OF ALL OF OUR RESIDENTS AND OUR BENEFICIARIES. I THINK THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FESTIVAL, YOU KNOW, AT THE END OF BLACK HISTORY AND MY TOURNAMENTS INTO A ANNUAL FESTIVAL THAT WE DO TO CLOSE OUT AN AMAZING MONTH ALSO WANT TONTO. THINK PAST A WILDLY AND HIS CHURCH ON SATURDAY SATURDAY, THEY DISTRIBUTED WATER OVER ALL, 300 THROCKMORTON, AND THEY RECEIVE THAT WATER FROM GEORGIA. LIKE SOMEONE SENT THEM 1100 CASES OF WATER. AND WE WOULD JUST AFTER. THANK YOU, SISTER TAM WERE BUT WE WERE JUST ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD HAVING PEOPLE TO COME IN, AND THEY JUST DO YOU NEED WATER IN JUST SEE THAT WE CONTINUOUSLY AS A COMMUNITY. WE JUST NEVER STOP SERVING. WE NEVER STOP SERVING AND I'M SO GRATEFUL TO BE PART OF THIS COMMUNITY. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THEN THIS IS IT THIS SATURDAY E. COUNCILMAN ELLIOT THAT THERE'S ANOTHER DISTRIBUTION AT 300 THROUGHOUT MORTON. SO EVEN SOME OF THE WATER THAT WAS LEFT OVER FROM THIS PAST SATURDAY. THEY WILL BE DISTRIBUTING THAT WATER AS WELL. SO I JUST ENCOURAGE THOSE TO COME OUT AND THAT THAT NEED ASSISTANCE AND I'M JUST GRATEFUL TO BE PART OF THIS COMMUNITY THAT CONTINUOUSLY SERVED, SERVED AND SERVED. SO THAT'S ALL I HAVE. THANK YOU.
ANOTHER WEEK AND ANOTHER SAYS SUCCESSFUL WEEK. AND GETTING OUT VACCINATIONS. I CAN'T COMMAND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. ALL THE VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME DURING THE WEEK AND ON WEEKENDS WHERE THEY COULD BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE. AND IT'S EXCITING TO SEE WE'RE STARTING TO GIVE SECOND SHOTS ROUND OF SECOND SHOTS AND JUST THE PEOPLE COMING IN AND THEIR FACES. THERE'S NOBODY THAT'S NOT HAPPY. BECAUSE THEY GET TO GO SEE THEIR GRANDKIDS. THEY GET TO GO OUT TO EAT. THEY GET TO GO DO THINGS. AND AS THIS HAPPENS, OUR ECONOMY IS GOING TO START TO GET BETTER AND BETTER AS WE GO ALONG, AND SO JUST TO SHUT OUT ALL THOSE VOLUNTEERS THAT HAVE GIVEN THEIR TIME I'VE SEEN CITY EMPLOYEES. I'VE SEEN LOTS OF FRIENDS OF MINE. THEY'RE UP THERE HELPING OUT AND I WOULD ENCOURAGE ANYBODY THAT IF THEY'VE GOT A LITTLE BIT OF FREE TIME TO VOLUNTEER SO THAT'S ALL AHEAD. SPENT FRASER. YEAH YOU GUYS WILL BE OKAY. YEAH, I'M GONNA TURN YOU HAVE TO HOLD ON. OKAY? I'M SORRY. I'M NOT THERE A BIT UNFORTUNATELY YOU HAD A TTY LIKE MEETING WHICH EFFECTS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT COUNCIL AND TESTIFYING TODAY WE'VE GOT
[00:40:01]
SEVERAL BILLS DOWN HERE IN THE CAPITAL. BUT I'M WORKING ON ONE OF THOSE GEORGE BOYD ACT. AND WE'RE DOING OUR BEST OF WHAT WE HAVE DURING COVITZ AT THE STATE CAPITAL SO THAT PUTS THE STRAIN ON ME BECAUSE I'M THE ONE THAT KIND OF THIS. THE CHARGE. DON'T APOLOGIZE FOR THAT, BUT AT LEAST ON THEIR EXPERIENCE, I GET TO DO THIS OVER THE PHONE. THAT WAS A DISASTER, SO I WILL SAY THIS IS DAVE 15 WITH NO HOT WATER IN MY HOUSE. AND UH, I THINK THERE'S A LOT OF FOLKS IN OUR CITY THAT IS THAT. STILL, THERE'S A FEW THAT DON'T HAVE POWER. THERE'S SEVERAL THAT DON'T HAVE WATER ON DIME, ONE OF THE MANY THAT DON'T HAVE HOT WATER. AND WE HAD A WE DON'T HAVE A DATE AND TIME WHEN THAT'S GONNA BE ABLE TO BE AVAILABLE FOR OUR HOMES TO BE REPAIRED. SO THINK ABOUT THOSE OTHERS THAT ARE OUT THERE. THAT NEEDS THE HELP. BUT DON'T HAVE THE FAMILY THAT COULD SUPPORT THAT. HELP AND MAKE SURE THAT WE TRY TO FIND OUT WHO THEY ARE. AND LET'S LET'S GET THEM TAKING CARE OF THE POOR FOR THE ONES THAT DON'T REALLY NEED IT LIKE MYSELF SO THEY COULD THEY COULD DO WITHOUT IT UNTIL SOMEONE ELSE THAT JUST DOESN'T HAVE WATER. SO, UH, WITH THAT DEAD THIS WEEKEND, UH, THE MILHOUSE HAVE THE WINNER BEST, UH, TRACY AND I ATTENDED THAT ON SUNDAY. WAS VERY IT WAS VERY NICE, TO MEET A LOT OF THE ARTISTS, ESPECIALLY THE ARTISTS OF THE KIDNEY. THEY'RE ON THEIR IN THEIR WORK ON ALSO GOT THE TOUR. BETH AND AMY, THAT OF THE MILL HOUSE AND THE ACCOMPLISHMENT THEY'RE DOING FOR WOMEN AND STARVING ARTISTS. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN OUT THERE TO THE MILL HOUSE. WOULD COURAGE. ANYBODY TO CHECK THAT OUT AND WHAT THEY'RE DOING. IT IS EXTRAORDINARY. THERE. THERE THERE THERE IN STEVE AND I DON'T KNOW. I ASKED HIM IF THERE WAS ANOTHER PLACE LIKE THIS IN THE COUNTRY. WHERE WOMEN CAN HAVE THEIR OWN STUDIO FOR A SMALL FEE. BASICALLY LIKE A GYM MEMBERSHIP, BUT THEY COULD BE THERE WORKING AND THEY COULD DO THEIR ART AT THE SAME TIME, AND PEOPLE COULD COME THERE TO SEE IT, AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW ANOTHER PLACE LIKE IT. SO THEY ALL THEY ASK IS THAT YOU KNOW, WE DON'T LEAVE THEM BEHIND, AS WERE TRANSFORMING THE DISTRICT DOWNTOWN, UH, YOU KNOW WHERE THE. WHERE SHE HOLDS GOING TO GO IN THAT AREA, AND I TOLD HIM THAT SHE HAS A PLAN TO PROMISE FROM US THAT WE WILL NOT LET THAT GO UNNOTICED. SO THAT WAS VERY NEAT, AND I GOTTA SAY, A SHOUT OUT TO MY DAUGHTER CAMERON, WHO WON HER ACTIVE TOURNAMENT LAST WEEK FOR GOLF FOR THE FRESHMEN ON VARSITY AGAINST ALL THE BEGINNING SCHOOL SIX DAY AND YESTERDAY SHE CAME IN SECOND OVER PROSPER MCKINNEY, THEN AND FRISCO AND AS A FRESHMAN, SO HOPING SHE'S LISTENING AND HOW PROUD HER DAD IT SO. THAT'S ALL I GOT, GUYS. THANK YOU. MAGIC. MR MAYOR, MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL, JUST A COUPLE OF ITEMS I WANTED TO SHARE. THE CITY WILL BE HOSTING A PROJECT OVERVIEW OPEN HOUSE TO GIVE RESIDENTS AN INTRODUCTION TO THE EAST MCKINNEY REDEVELOPMENT OF PRESERVATION PROJECTS. THE MEETING WILL BE HELD MARCH 18TH OLD SETTLERS RECREATION CENTER.PRESENTATIONS WILL BE GIVEN AT 5:15 P.M. AND 6:15, P.M. AND RESIDENTS CONVINCE IT INFORMATIONAL TABLES FOLLOWING THE PRESENTATIONS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SPECIFIC PROJECTS.
RESIDENTS WILL HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK AND CAN COME AND GO ANYTIME BETWEEN FIVE AND 7 P.M. WE WILL ALSO HAVE SPANISH INTERPRETERS THERE AND AVAILABLE YOU COULD LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE PROJECTS AT WWW DOT MCKINNEY, TEXAS THAT OR GO FORWARD SLASH EAST SIDE AGAIN. THAT IS MARCH 18TH. FROM 5 TO 7. PM. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO POINT OUT SOMETHING THAT'S REALLY KIND OF COOL THAT WE DO HERE AND MCKINNEY. I'VE NEVER SEEN IT DONE LIKE THIS QUITE BEFORE ON THAT IS WE DO A ORIENTATION FOR CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE. I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY INTERESTING WHEN I FIRST GOT HERE, AND WE DID OUR FIRST ORIENTATION WERE BASICALLY ALL THE CANDIDATES WHO ARE COMPETING AGAINST EACH OTHER FOR OFFICE. THEY COME AND STAFF PREPARES A PRESENTATION FOR ALL OF THE CANDIDATES SO THAT THEY CAN BASICALLY HAVE THE SAME INFORMATION WAY OBVIOUSLY A VERY SENSITIVE AND CAREFUL ABOUT THE PERCEPTION OF FAVORING ANY ONE CANDIDATE OVER ANOTHER. SO WHAT WE DO IS WE HOLD A CANDIDATE ORIENTATION DAY, AND WE COVER A NUMBER OF TOPICS FROM VERY BEGINNING, WHICH IS SORT OF ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE IN OUR FORM OF GOVERNMENT TO FINANCE AND BUDGETING THE AUDIT AND BUDGING TIME CYCLE OR LIFE'S A TIMING PROCESS IF YOU WILL. PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT, FIRE, POLICE PUBLIC SAFETY BASICALLY ALL THE MAJOR SERVICE LINES OF CITY GOVERNMENT HERE, MCKINNEY AND WE ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO IT.
WE'LL BE DOING THAT THIS FRIDAY, THE FIFTH RIGHT HERE IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER FOR A GOOD PART OF THE DAY. I THINK WE'RE GONNA CONCLUDE AROUND 2 P.M. SO WE LOOK FORWARD TO THAT. I JUST THOUGHT THAT BE KIND OF A FUN THING TO SHARE. IT'S A NICE EFFORT THAT THE CITY DOES AND THAT ITS UNIQUE. IT'S NOT ALWAYS LIKE THAT IN CITIES. THANK YOU. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AT THAT, PAUL. REMARK. YES I COULD I YES, I WILL ACTUALLY WOULD BE DOING THAT. I WANT TO
[00:45:11]
ECHO A FEW THINGS THAT WERE SAID THEIR FIRE DEPARTMENT, CITIZENS FIRE ACADEMY. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM, OUR CITY STAFF CHIEF KISSNER. CHIEF SKAGGS JUST THE INCREDIBLE JOB SURPASSED 20,000 SHOTS LAST WEEK AND MAYBE A LITTLE EARLIER THAN THAT, AND THEY ARE JUST CONTINUING TO SERVE IN A WAY THAT IS TRULY REMARKABLE. IT'S NOT JUST IN THE EXECUTION, THE THEIR ABILITY TO HAVE GOTTEN IT PUT THAT TOGETHER AS QUICK AS THEY HAVE AND EXECUTE. IT'S THE COMPASSION AND KINDNESS. BUT I JUST KEEP HEARING ABOUT I CONTINUE TO RECEIVE EMAILS AND CALLS AND TEXT MESSAGES AND PRIVATE MESSAGES AND JUST CAME COMMUNICATION ON A REGULAR BASIS ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE THAT THEY HAD WHEN THEY WERE THERE.AND IT'S ALWAYS THAT THEY WERE JUST TREATED SO KIND AND SO COMPASSIONATELY AND THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE GETTING VACCINES, ESPECIALLY SOME OF THE OLDER, MORE VULNERABLE THAT THEY REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THEY VIEW THAT VACCINATION IS SOMETHING THAT IS CERTAINLY A LIFE SAVING FOR THEM AND TO HAVE THE PEOPLE THEY'RE THE TEAM THERE, DO IT, SO. SO COMPASSIONATELY AND UNDERSTANDING OF THAT AND CARRYING. IT'S REALLY AWESOME IN OUR COMMUNITY. UH CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS. SHIP RAINY, ROGERS WAS THERE. HIS CHURCH AND YEAH, THEY HAD A TRUCKLOAD. 18 WHEELER, JUST WITH PALLETS AND PALLETS OF FOOD. AND THAT WAS JUST A WONDERFUL SIGHT TO SEE THAT YOU KNOW, THE CRISIS IS NOT OVER. AS HAS BEEN STATED. THERE'S STILL PEOPLE THAT ARE SUFFERING AND IN NEED AND HEAR THIS CHURCH IS WE CAN HAVE FOR MORE AFTER THE EVENT AND STILL GATHERING AND PUTTING TOGETHER FOOD AND MAKING SURE IT GETS OUT. JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THIS COMMUNITY AND WHO WE ARE.
SO I DON'T I DON'T KNOW THAT ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN THAT, THERE'S A BLOOD DRIVE COMING UP.
I WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU REMIND PEOPLE LOVE GIVE BLOOD DOT ORG'S IF YOU GO AND SIGN UP, IT'S JUST GOING TO BE. I THINK THIS COMING SATURDAY. IF I'M WRONG, MY WIFE IS GONNA CHASTISE ME AS SOON AS I GET OFF THE DAIS. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE UP HERE FOR EVERYTHING THAT EVERYONE'S DONE THROUGH THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS. IT'S BEEN AMAZING EFFORT BY EVERYBODY AND EVERYONE IN THIS CITY THAT JOINED IN AND MANY PEOPLE IN THIS ROOM. WE'RE PART OF THAT EFFORT, SO THANK YOU. WITH THAT A MOTION TO ADJOURN. LIKE IT. ON FAVOR. ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT.
