SO THANK YOU AGAIN AGAIN. THIS IS MORE OF WHAT WE DO IN THE COMMUNITY. SO THANK YOU. THIS PAST MONDAY, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE BAR WARS DAMAGE. CHESTNUT SQUARE. WOW IT WAS A IT WAS A GREAT EVENT, AND I JUST THINK. THE CHESTNUT SCORER. JAMIE IS NOT HERE TODAY, BUT IT WAS REALLY IT WAS LATE, BUT IT WAS A VERY INTIMATE, YOU KNOW, EVENTS, BUT VERY WELL WORTH IT. SO THANK YOU FOR THOSE THAT THE DIFFERENT RESTAURANTS THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE JUDGES. IT WAS REALLY, REALLY A GREAT EVENT. ALSO THIS PAST WEEKEND, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO ON THE PARK'S TOUR. THANK YOU MIGHT HAVE SKI AND YOUR BOARD AND YOUR TEAM FOR PUTTING THAT TOGETHER. HE WAS GREAT DROVE AROUND, AND WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT URBAN PARK. AND SEE THE GREAT THINGS THAT THEY'RE DOING OVER THERE WITH THE EYE CANDY. I TOLD HIM I HAD TO BE ON THE INTERMEDIATE. BEING WITH SOME TRAINING WHEELS.
SO UH, THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT OF YOUR STAFF. WE ALSO HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT GREAT BRANCH AND ALSO THE SENIOR CENTER AND. VIEW AND GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THE NEW RENOVATIONS AND THEY WERE PLAYING PICKLEBALL OVER THERE, AND THEY WERE SO SERIOUS. IT WAS LIKE WHEN YOU WALKED IN THERE BE QUIET BECAUSE THEY WERE CONCENTRATING SO. IN THE STAFF OVER THERE. EVERYONE WAS JUST REALLY NICE. THE CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS WHO WERE THERE PARTICIPATING WERE JUST VERY ACCOMMODATING OF ALLOWING US TO WALK AROUND. WHILE THEY'RE IN THEIR PERSONAL SPACE. THEY WERE WORKING OUT THEY WERE PLAYING. THEY WERE PLAYING POOL. THEY WERE SWIMMING. SO I JUST THINK IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY THAT WE CAN ENCOURAGE ADDITIONAL SENIORS TO JOIN, AND I THINK IT'S GREAT. ALSO WE DID ADOPT APART CLEANUP. THANK YOU, JACKIE. THIS IS ONE OF YOUR INITIATIVES. THANK YOU FOR THOSE THEY WERE ABLE TO ATTEND AND MARY FOR COMING A LITTLE LATE. THAT'S OKAY. BUT SHE WAS PRESENT HER SPIRIT. SHE WAS IN THE RIGHT SPIRIT TO COME.
UM WE MOVED IT UP BECAUSE WE GOT DONE WITH THE PARKS TOUR A LITTLE BIT, SO WE DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND KIND OF GET THAT OUT THE WAY BECAUSE MANY OF US KNEW IF WE WENT HOME, WE PROBABLY WE'RE NOT GONNA COME BACK SO. BUT WE GOT SO THANK YOU, RICK. THANK YOU, DAVID. THANK YOU, LINDA MYSELF. CND I CALL CINDY ON THE WAY OUT CLEAN AND I WAS LIKE, WE'RE SUPPOSED TO CLEAN ALL THE WAY OUT THERE, CINDY. I DIDN'T GO TO ANY FARMER. THANK YOU AGAIN, JACKIE. THANK YOU FOR THIS INITIATIVE, AND I JUST ENCOURAGE THE E D. C TO ADOPT YOU A PARK. SO THANK YOU. IT'S A
[00:10:04]
GREAT WAY YOU GET AT LEAST THE PARKING LOT. IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO CONTINUE TO INVEST. WE ALSO DROVE AROUND OUT. THE PARK AND WE ALSO DOVER TOWN CENTER. IT WAS PACKED OVER THERE, AND WE COULDN'T EVEN STOP BECAUSE IT WAS TRAFFIC. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THAT THOSE PARTS THAT WE ARE INVESTING SO MUCH MONEY AND ARE BEING UTILIZED. I MEAN, IT WAS PACKED FROM. EVERY PARKING LOT, SO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL THAT YOU'RE DOING, MIKE WITH YOUR TEAM AND YOUR DIVISION. NEXT WE HAVE CITY OF MCKINNEY, MR GRIMES. MORNING. MADAM CHAIR, MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. MY NAME'S PAUL GRAHAM CITY MANAGER. NOT TOO MUCH TODAY. FEW THINGS TO REPORT TO YOU. FIRST OF ALL, THOUGH, I WANT TO WISH EVERYBODY HAPPY THANKSGIVING BEFORE I FORGET TO SAY IT AT THE END OF MY COMMENTS. THANK YOU FOR THE REFLECTION. MADAM MCGILL. THAT'S IT'S ALWAYS IMPORTANT FOR US TO TAKE SOME TIME TO DO. THAT'S WHY THANKSGIVING IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY. SO WITH THAT. COUPLE THINGS TO SHARE WITH YOU. THE CITY COUNCIL THIS LAST TUESDAY NIGHT MADE IN A APPOINTMENT TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD BOARD MEMBERS, INCLUDING STEPPING DOWN BY LAW, YOU HAVE TO STEP DOWN AND RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL. AND HE'S ONE OF THREE CANDIDATES THAT WILL BE RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL, SO THE CITY COUNCIL NEEDED TO APPOINT A NEW MEMBER TO THE BOARD AND THEY APPOINTED MISS JULIE WILLIAMS. SOME OF YOU MAY KNOW HER. SHE'S ACTIVE WITH THE CHAMBER AND OTHER ASPECTS OF THE COMMUNITY. SHE WILL BE. SEATED AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING, AND I SUPPOSE, SWORN AN OATH ON THAT DATE, SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE JULIE JOINED THE CDC BOARD. WE HAVE, AS I MENTIONED THREE CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL. THE CANDIDATE APPLICATION DEADLINE PASSED. THAT WAS NOVEMBER. 12TH. WE DO HAVE A CANDIDATE ORIENTATION. WE DO THAT. THAT'S KIND OF A. TRADITION WE DO IN MCKINNEY. I THINK IT'S A GREAT THING THAT STARTED LONG BEFORE I GOT HERE. BUT WE'RE HAPPY TO KEEP IT GOING AND THAT IS WHERE THE CANDIDATES WILL COME IN, AND THE STAFF WILL MEET WITH HIM AND WALK THROUGH. SOME OF THE BIG ISSUES. BIG TOPICS BIG. INITIATIVES THAT ARE UNDER WAY THEY HAVE FACTUAL INFORMATION TO WORK WITH AND DO WITH WHAT THEY WISH, BUT WE CERTAINLY AFFORD THAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM, AND THAT WILL BE NEXT WEEK. FINALLY I WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT. UM THE WHERE WAS IT ON HERE? I HAD A COMMENT I WAS GONNA MAKE SHARE WITH YOU ABOUT THE CENSUS. REDISTRICTING SO REDISTRICTING IS GETTING UNDERWAY. WE HAD A MEETING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL AND WORK SESSION WITH OUR CONSULTANT. MM MM. YOU KNOW, OUR POPULATION HAS SIGNIFICANTLY CHANGED. ALL OF OUR DISTRICTS ARE GOING TO BE REDISTRICTED BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE PARAMETERS WORK BY LAW AS WELL AS ONSLAUGHT THROUGH THE COURTS. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO ADJUST THOSE BOUNDARIES TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 48 OR 49,000 PEOPLE IN EACH DISTRICT. AND OF COURSE, THAT'S CHANGED BECAUSE THE LAST TIME WE HAD OUR POPULATION WAS THE 2010 CENSUS, AND I THINK WE WERE 140,000 RESIDENTS. SO NOW WE'RE AT 200,000 AND CONTINUING TO GROW SO WE WILL BE UNDERWAY. THAT PROJECT WILL BE UNDERWAY FOR THE NEXT PROBABLY 4 TO 6 MONTHS. WE ANTICIPATE BRINGING THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COUNCIL AND SPRING OR SUMMER FOR COUNCIL ADOPTION FOR THE NEW DISTRICTS.WE DON'T HAVE A LOCAL ELECTION IN MAY OF 22. THE NEXT LOCAL ELECTIONS MAY HAVE 23 SO WE'VE GOT TIME. TO ADJUST AND WORK ON THAT, SO I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. THAT'S ALL I HAVE.
OKAY. THANK YOU, MR BARNES. VISIT MCKINNEY. AND DID HE, MADAM CHAIRMAN DD AND HER TEAM ARE IN TRAINING THIS WEEK, SO SHE LEFT. INFORMATION TO SHARE WITH THE BOARD. I'M SENDING A NOTE OUT TO ALL MY JEWISH FRIENDS TO JOIN ME FOR THAT. I'M JUST SO EXCITED THAT WE HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY. THANK YOU. THAT WE HAVE M E. D. C. NOT BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE MAYOR FULLER IS HERE TODAY. GOOD MORNING. MORNING, MADAM CHAIR, MADAM PRESIDENT SUPPORT PETER TOCAR PRESIDENT MCKINNEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. UM DON'T DON'T HAVE MUCH TO FOLLOW UP. PAUL GOT MY GOT MY BIG NEWS ABOUT OUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS, SO WE'RE VERY HAPPY THAT MISS JULIE WILLIAMS IS JOINING OUR BOARD. WE'RE EXCITED TO HAVE HER PART OF OUR TEAM. REST OF THE IMMEDIACY. WE'RE DOING REALLY WELL. WE WERE SETTING ANOTHER RECORD YEAR OF INVESTMENT FOR CAPITAL INVESTMENT. WE HAVE ONE OF PROBABLY ONE OF THE STRONGEST PIPELINES FOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS THAT WE'VE EVER HAD. AND WE HAVE A LITTLE OVER $2 BILLION IN OUR. IN OUR PIPELINE, AND THAT'S SHOULD ALL THOSE PROJECTS COME THROUGH. THAT WOULD BE THE CAPITAL PERSON, BUT REALLY, REALLY STRONG YEAR THAT WE'RE HAVING FOR INVESTMENT A LOT THANKS TO THE CDC FOR YOUR PARTNERSHIP AS WELL LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUE TO BUILD THAT PARTNERSHIP. AND WORK ON MORE REALLY GAME CHANGING PROJECTS FOR THE CITY. OUTSIDE OF THAT.WE HAD OUR BOARD MEETING ON TUESDAY APPROVED SOME GREAT PROJECTS GOING TO HAVE SOME MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS TO COME BY THE END OF THE YEAR AND JUST JUST REALLY EXCITED AT WHAT THE OUTLOOK. IS FOR THE NDC AND FOR THE CITY IN GENERAL. SO I KNOW IT'S PRETTY VAGUE TODAY, BUT WE'RE JUST TRYING TO CLOSE OUT THE YEAR AND, UM AND STRONG ANY QUESTIONS. YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN ANSWER. JUST A COMMENT. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ADAPT A PARK, YOU CAN COME JOIN US. OUT THERE FOR YOU THAT WILL BE ON THE NEXT AGENDA IS. TALKING ABOUT PARKS. SO WHAT WE CAN DO? ACTUALLY I THINK, ACTUALLY, IT WAS, UH, JACKIE, YOU PUT THAT CHALLENGE OUT THE LAST YEAR AND ACTUALLY, WE DID LOOK INTO IT. AND, UH, THEY'VE GOT A SUBCOMMITTEE STUDYING IT. THAT WERE AVAILABL, WHERE HUNDREDS OF ACRES AND WE WOULD NEED TO GET SOME SIGNIFICANT EQUIPMENT TO HELP.
THEY'RE DOING THAT, BUT BUT WE WILL LOOK BACK INTO IT. IF NOT, WE'LL CALL YOU NEXT TIME TO JOIN US. WE'LL BE HAPPY TO HAPPY TO PARTNER. SO WE'LL GO. NO PAUL FORM OKAY. ALRIGHT. THANK YOU. A MAIN STREET. THE IMPACT AMY. IT'S NOT A TREE, OKAY? SHE'S WAITING ON HER TRISHA PARKS AND REC MIKE CALC. GOOD MORNING. MICHAEL KOWALSKI, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION, PETER, I COULD HELP YOU WHAT THEY ADOPTED PARK. WE'LL FIND ONE FOR YOU PROBLEM AT ALL. I WANT TO KICK OFF BY CELEBRATING OUR STAFF. SO AT A RECENT CONFERENCE, A COUPLE WEEKS BACK OUR STAFF AND OUR DEPARTMENT AND CITY WAS HONORED WITH FIVE RECOGNITIONS. THIS IS THROUGH THE TEXAS RECREATION AND PARKS SOCIETY NORTH REGION. WHICH INCLUDES HUNDREDS HUNDREDS OF CITIES IN THIS AREA OF TEXAS.
THERE WERE 15 CATEGORIES TO APPLY FOR WE WON 15 OF THEM. SO WE WON BEST RECREATION PROGRAM IN NORTH TEXAS IRWIN PARK WE HOST NIGHT TIME HIKES. TAKE KIDDOS OUT TO LOOK AT WILDLIFE OUT THERE. WE ALSO WON BEST SENIOR PROGRAM FOR GRANDPARENTS CAMP. THIS IS A PROGRAM OR GRANDPARENTS BRING THEIR GRANDKIDS TO THE SENIOR REC CENTER. FOR ALL THE ACTIVITIES.
WE WON BEST MAINTENANCE STATION AND ALL NEXT ON NORTH TEXAS. IT'S A HUGE HONOR FOR US. WE ALSO WANT TO CELEBRATE CALLIE WILLIS, WHO WANT RECREATION PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR. SHE'S OUR ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR AT THE SENIOR RECREATION CENTER, AND FINALLY, WE WON BEST YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR. ALEX COPELAND, WHO WAS AT THE APEC CENTER. SO OUR TEAM IS ROBUST AT ALL ALL SIDES OF THE EQUATION AND GREAT PROGRAMMING. THOSE TEAMMATES ACTIVATE THE PARKS
[00:20:04]
THAT WE PUT ON THE GROUND, SO I APPRECIATE THAT. SPEAKING OF WHICH FINCH PARK PHASE FIVE IS NOW UNDERWAY. THIS WILL DELIVER A BRAND NEW PLAYGROUND AND SPLASH PAD TO FINCH PARK, AND THAT WOULD BE THE LAST PHASE. WE ALSO ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AGO LAST WEEK, IN FACT, GROUPS WE ACTUALLY PLANTED ABOUT AN ACRE OF BLUE PLANET SEEDS. SO ENOUGH FRENCH PARK WOULD HAVE THESE BLUE PLANET WILDFLOWERS COMING UP IN FINNISH PARK. SO THAT WOULD JUST AGAIN BRING MORE PEOPLE TO THAT PARK. SO THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERS ON THAT. SPEAKING OF VOLUNTEERS, MR RICK RENNO IS HERE. RICK AND I WE. CO STARTED PARKS FOUNDATION 2017. YEAH, THEY ARE. THEY'RE GETTING AFTER IT. THEY HAD A GREAT EVENT WE CALL PARTNERED WITH THEM ON AT THE GREENS AND MCKINNEY GOLF COURSE, WHICH IS NOW CLOSED. WE HAD ABOUT 150 PLUS VOLUNTEERS COME OUT TO HELP PLANT 1600 TREES ON THE PROPERTY. THIS WILL HELP RESTORE THE CAMPINA AREA AND STABILIZE WILSON CREEK. IT WAS FROM MORNING TO NIGHT. IT FELT LIKE RICK AND THE GROUP DID A GREAT JOB PREPPING THAT ORGANIZING IT. SO KUDOS ALL AROUND. AND THEN ON THE PARKS AND RECREATION TOUR. THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THAT. THANK YOU FOR COMING OUT. THOSE WHO COULD L RUSH OFF PARK IS THE PARK WE WENT TO THAT WAS OVERFLOWING. WE HAD A GREAT TOURNAMENT THERE AS WELL AS A DISC GOLF TOURNAMENT AS REMINDER. ALEX CLARK DISK OFF IS A NUMBER TWO MOST POPULAR DISC GOLF COURSE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. BEHIND SAN DIEGO. NUMBER ONE OF ALL TEXAS. SO WHAT YOU SAW THERE WAS OVER FOUR OVERFLOW PARKING FOR THOSE TWO EVENTS COMING TOGETHER, WHICH MADE ME SMILE. YOU WANT PEOPLE OUT THERE AND JOIN THE PARK. SO WITH THAT, MADAM CHAIR, I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. JUST COMMENT. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THAT FREEZE BE GAME WAS A BIG THING AND. I WAS LIKE, OH, WOW. THEY REALLY ARE HERE WITH THE LOOK CARDS AND I WAS LIKE A SERIOUS ABOUT THIS SPORT. YES THEY ARE VERY SERIOUSLY PLAY RAIN OR SHINE. WE HAVE PICTURES OF THEM PLAYING IN THE SNOW STORM. WE HAD. LAST YEAR, SO YEAH, THEY'RE THEY'RE COMMITTED. THAT'S RIGHT DOWN FROM MY HOUSE. THERE, THERE NO MATTER WHAT. I MEAN, I JUST AM GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF THE DIFFERENT SPORTING ACTIVITIES THAT WE CAN GIVE TO OUR CITIZENS. THERE IS. AND ALL I'M ASKING FOR IS THE SKATING RINK SO ESCAPING AT A ROLLER RINK THAT'S ALL PUT THAT IN THEIR ROLE OF RINGS, SO THAT'S MY VISION AND SEE IF I CAN MAKE THAT HAPPEN IN A YEAR. IT'S FAIR ENOUGH, JACKIE CHAN AND CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR BECAUSE YOU'LL END UP PAYING FOR IT AGAIN INTO ALL OF YOUR ACCOLADES AND THE WARS YOU WANT THAT COMES FROM YOUR LEADERSHIP. SO. JUST WE WOULD NOT BE RE MISSED AND NOT TO SAY THAT ALL OF THAT THOSE AWARDS OR A DEFINITELY TESTAMENT TO WHAT YOU'VE DONE AND HOW YOU LEAD WITH YOUR TEAM AND YOUR STAFF. SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP AND SETTING THE BAR VERY HIGH. OR YOUR TEAM MEMBERS THAT THANK YOU. THANKS FOR THIS TOURS MIGHT THEIR HIGHLIGHT EVERY YEAR AND IT'S AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN GET TO GO ON THOSE. I THINK IT'S A REAL EYE OPENER. WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING AND. I KNOW IT'S AN INITIATIVE YOU STARTED WHEN YOU FIRST GOT HERE, AND IT'S. IT'S TERRIFIC FOR THE PARKS BOARD FOR OUR BOARD AND ANY OTHER PEOPLE YOU CAN SHOW. I THINK IT'S A GREAT IDEA. THANK YOU. GOOD QUESTION. AND ONE MORE ONE MORE EQUIPPED FOR OUR COLLEAGUES ON THE E D. C ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF BEING OUT IN THE PARTS. ARE JUST BEING IN THAT SOUND OF NATURE, AND I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IF WE HAVE ANY SORT OF. INFORMATION ABOUT THE TYPE OF BIRDS IN THE PARK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO BE THERE THIS PAST WEEK DID TO BE WITH THE PARKS CLEAN UP BECAUSE OF A CLASS THAT I WAS ATTENDING, BUT I REMEMBER THE LAST TIME WE ALL WENT OUT TOGETHER. THERE WAS A CACOPHONY OF AMAZING BIRDLIFE THERE, SO THAT WOULD BE MY REQUEST. DO WE? DO WE HAVE ANY KIND OF BIRD GUIDE STUFF? SO THE NEXT TIME WE ALL GO OUT, YOU KNOW WE CAN.THAT'S A GREAT IDEA. IN FACT, OUR WORK WITH THE MUSEUM. I'M SURE THAT WE'LL WONDERFUL CAN HELP US IDENTIFY THAT I'D BE HAPPY TO HELP WITH THAT BECAUSE IT WAS AMAZING TO BE OUT WITH THIS CANOPY OF TREES AND WHO KNEW? THANK YOU. HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU, MIKE. I KNOW WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR AN IN DEPTH SCIENCE STUDY, BUT IN REGARD TO ALL OF THE TREES THAT WERE PLANTED, AND SO YOU MENTIONED THAT IT WILL STABILIZE WILSON CREEK. SO HOW DOES THAT WORK? SO THE ROOT STRUCTURES AS THEY GROW ACTUALLY HOLD THE SOIL IN PLACE. IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
SOMETIMES THE TREES WE IDENTIFIED THE PLANT THERE WERE IN COORDINATION WITH TEXAS A AND M. AND THEY'RE DESIGNED TO SURVIVE FLOODING. HEAVY RAINS WHICH HAVE PROPERTY RECEIVES. WE
[00:25:02]
ALSO PLANTED A VARIETY OF TREES THAT WOULD PROVIDE SOME SHADE IN THAT AREA AS WELL. SO ALL THAT WORKING TOGETHER WILL HELP STABILIZE THAT ACTUALLY RETURNED THE GOLF COURSE TO ITS PREVIOUS NATURAL STATES. I THINK WE NEED MORE OF THOSE PRESERVES IN OUR PARK SYSTEM. THANK YOU. ANY ADDITIONAL COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS. THANK YOU, MR KOWSKI. APPRECIATE JK AND HAD TO PUT YOU ON THE SPOT. YOU HAVE A REPORT FOR MAINSTREAM, OKAY? SORRY. MY REVERT BACK. GOOD MORNING. WE HAVE TOUGH BREWERY SUBCOMMITTEE, RICK. NOT A LOT IN DETAIL TO DISCUSS HERE, BUT MEETINGS WITH CITY SIX COMMITTEE AND ALSO WE'VE HAD JOINT MEETINGS WITH WITH CITY COUNCIL. THEY'RE CONTINUING.
THERE WAS TO BE AN AGENDA ITEM TODAY. UH, BUT IT'S BEEN EXTENDED NOW TO, UH TO, I GUESS, DECEMBER 31ST YEAR, SAYING CINDY AND THAT AGENDA ITEM WAS TOO. BASICALLY IT WAS FOR APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT. GMP CONSTRUCTION WITH WITH DETAILS FROM SPOT GLASS, SO THAT'S BEING DELAYED UNTIL DECEMBER, 31ST. THAT'S ABOUT IT FOR NOW, AND STAY TUNED. THANK YOU. WE ARE TRUCKING ALONE. THANK YOU SO MUCH, AND WE HAVE ONE HEART. MCKINNEY, RICK. OKAY SO THIS IS VERY BIG NEWS. SO IT'S SUCH BIG NEWS THAT IT EVEN MADE THE NEWSPAPER I SAW ON THE WEEKEND AS WELL. MCKINNEY GAZETTE WE HAD PRESS RELEASES. SO SCOTT ELLIOT. HAS BEEN NAMED AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE. OF THE NEW ONE HEART, MCKINNEY. UH UM UH, GROUP HAD NOT QUITE SURE WHAT THIS SPECIFIC CLASSIFICATION IS. BUT THAT'S FANTASTIC NEWS. AS EVERYONE KNOWS, SCOTT. CERTAINLY EVERYBODY IN THIS AUDIENCE KNOWS SCOTT AS WELL. SO THAT HAS MADE THIS CONCEPT THAT WE TALKED ABOUT EARLY IN THE YEAR, SOMETHING THAT IS NOW VERY, VERY REAL. SO THE SUBCOMMITTEE IS STARTING TO WIND DOWN AND MOVING TO THE NEXT PHASE. JUST SUMMARY. BASICALLY, THE SUBCOMMITTEE WAS BROUGHT TOGETHER IN, UM, I GUESS IN SPRING, RIGHT CALF WE STARTED IN MAY. YEAH PRIMARY THINGS WERE TO DEFINE THE MISSION AND SCOPE OF ONE HEART MCKINNEY GOING FORWARD. TO DEFINE THE CONCEPT OF A SHARED SERVICES GROUP IN SERVICE OF BOTH THE. COMMUNITY IN MCKINNEY AND ALSO THE SERVICE PROVIDERS IN MCKINNEY. TO EXPLAIN AND PRESENT THAT TO THE DIFFERENT PROVIDERS IN THE CITY OF MCKINNEY. SO WE GOT EVERYBODY TOGETHER WITH VERY MUCH THE HELP OF CINDY AND LINDA. THEN WE TOOK UPON THAT TO DO A SURVEY AND GET INFORMATION ON WHAT THE PROVIDERS WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN THIS TYPE OF A GROUP. THEN THE FINAL THING THAT WE DID THAT'S JUST ONGOING RIGHT NOW IS TO
[00:30:06]
SURVEY CITIZENS OF MCKINNEY THAT COULD POTENTIALLY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOME OF THESE SERVICES. THAT THE ONE HEART MCKINNEY COULD DO. AND NOW FINALLY, WHAT SCOTT AS THE NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, OSTENSIBLY STARTING ON FEBRUARY 1ST, BUT HE SAID HE'S ALREADY STARTED AS SOON AS THE PRESS RELEASE WENT OUT. UH IT'S MOVING. IT'S REALLY GOING SO IT'S VERY GRATIFYING TO, UH, JUST TO BE ABLE TO REPORT ON SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THAT'S WHAT I'VE GOT ON THAT. THANK YOU. AND OF COURSE, SCOTT HAD SAID ON EM CPC AND SERVED ON COUNCIL AND ME BEING ABLE TO WORK WITH HIM. I JUST KNOW THAT THIS THIS ONE HEART, MCKINNEY IS JUST GOING TO CONTINUED TO THRIVE UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, SO HE IS DEFINITELY SETTING THE BAR FOR ALL OF US WHEN WE COME OFF OF E D. C. WHAT IS YOUR YOU KNOW, I MEAN, C D. C WITH YOUR NEXT MOVE. YOU'RE GONNA DO NEXT BECAUSE HE'S HE'S SETTING IT UP PATH UNLESS YOU GO TRY TO TAKE GEORGE POSITION AND BE THE MAYOR. SO THANK YOU.[President’s Report]
NEXT. WE HAVE A PRESIDENT'S REPORT. THANK YOU, MADAM. CHAIRMAN MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.PLEASE TAKE A COUPLE MINUTES TO READ THE REPORTS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE AGENDA. THERE ARE. FINAL REPORTS FOR PROMOTIONAL GRANTS THAT WERE FUNDED. TWO SPG ONE FOR THE SIP AND STROLL SERIES AND THE OTHER FOR THE MCKINNEY WINE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL AND JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT FROM THOSE BETWEEN THE TWO OF THE FIVE EVENTS AND SIPPING STROLL AND THEN THE MCKINNEY WINE FESTIVAL. THEY DREW MORE THAN 13,000 PEOPLE TO THOSE EVENTS IN MCKINNEY AND WERE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE. JUST UNDER $13,000 TO 6 LOCAL NONPROFITS, SO I THINK THEY'RE BOTH THE SERIES AND THE WIND MUSIC FESTIVAL OR VARIOUS SUCCESSFUL. THE DEADLINE FOR THE FIRST CYCLE OF PROMOTIONAL GRANTS IS COMING UP. IT'S TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH. SO IF YOU'RE. PEOPLE WHO ARE PLANNING TO APPLY. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THAT DATES ON THEIR CALENDAR AND THEN THE NEXT DAY DECEMBER, 1ST IS WHEN THE FIRST CYCLE OF PROJECT GRANTS WILL OPEN MORE ACCEPT APPLICATIONS THROUGH THE END OF DECEMBER. AND THEN THE LAST THING THAT I MENTIONED IS.
THIS TIME OF YEAR IS WHEN CDC SIX NOMINATIONS FOR QUALITY OF LIFE. AWARDS AND WE MAKE AN AWARD IN BOTH INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATION CATEGORIES. AND WE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF DELAY BECAUSE OF THE PAIN, TEMIC, BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK AND THE MARKETING COMMITTEE. WE WERE ABLE TO ADDRESS ALL THE CONCERNS AND WE SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED YOUR REVISED WEBSITE. AT THE END OF LAST MONTH, SO IT IS UP AND RUNNING. SO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THAT. SOME OF THE OTHER WAYS THAT WE ARE CROSS PROMOTING, AND INTEGRATING THE MESSAGES IS THIS NOVEMBER AND LAST NOVEMBER, WE HAVE SENT A POSTCARD TO LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES. THE POSTCARD DOES INCLUDE THIS. SPEND IT HERE. KEEP IT HERE BY MCKINNEY. WINDOW CLEAN THAT THEY CAN PUT IN THEIR WINDOW OR ON THEIR CAR. BUT ALSO TYING BACK IN THE REMINDER OF SHOPPING LOCALLY HERE IN MCKINNEY. WE REACHED OUT TO OUR FRISCO RESIDENTS AND DID A DIRECT MAIL TO THEM WITH THE HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS THAT M. C D. C HAS, UM, SUPPORTED THIS YEAR. AND SO THAT WENT OUT IN OCTOBER TO FRISCO RESIDENTS. AND THEN ALSO, WE ASKED THE GRANT RECIPIENTS TO INCLUDE THE CDC LOGO ON THEIR MARKETING MATERIALS, AND THEN WE ALSO PROVIDE THEM WITH MATERIALS AT THEIR EVENT, TOO. INTEGRATE THE MESSAGE. SO HERE'S SOME EXAMPLES OF DIFFERENT ADS THAT HAVE RAN WITHIN CDC LOGO ON IT. HERE'S JUST A FEW MORE TO GIVE YOU A WIDE VARIETY. DIFFERENT PROJECTS AND PROMOTIONS THAT YOU GUYS SUPPORT SO YOU'LL SEE CHESTER SQUARE IN THIS ONE. AND THEN LIGHT UP LOUISIANA AND THEN THE SUPPORT LOCAL CAMPAIGN THAT WAS USED BY EVERYONE WITHIN THE CITY DURING THE LAST YEAR, AND WE'LL CONTINUE IN THAT SUPPORT. HERE'S A FEW WAYS OF HOW WE'RE PROMOTING THE GRANTS. SO THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE GRANT PROMOTION WHEN WE WERE ADVERTISING TO GET YOUR GRANT RECIPE AND IN IS ALSO FEATURED IN THE CITY'S NEWSLETTER. WHICH IS WHAT YOU'LL SEE ON MY FAR RIGHT. WE ALSO HAVE THE RETAIL DEVELOPMENT GRANT INFORMATION.SO WE HAVE A VIDEO AND THEN WE HAVE THE HANDOUT. AND THEN WE HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS FOR THE CDC PROJECTS, EVENTS AND THEN THIS YEAR WE ACTUALLY DID THE 25 INCHES. 25TH ANNIVERSARY OVERVIEW VIDEO. ALL OF THESE VIDEOS ARE ON YOUR WEBSITE AND ALSO SHARED THROUGH. CDC SOCIAL MEDIA AND THE CITY SOCIAL MEDIA AND IN OUR NEWSLETTERS. AND THEN HERE'S SOME WAYS THAT WE ACTUALLY INTEGRATED INTO HOW YOU THINGS YOU SUPPORT. SO LIKE LINDA WAS AT THE TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL. SHE HAD HER BOOTH AND THEN SHE ALSO HAD LIKE. THAT IT'S MY MCKINNEY PROJECTS BEING IT SOUNDS. YOU'LL SEE IT AT THE CHEST AND SCARE JOHNSON HOUSE. WE'VE INCORPORATED THAT ON THE BUS FOR THE PARKS, AND THEN WE ALSO INCLUDED IN SIGNAGE WHERE RELEVANT. WE'VE HAD THIS BILLBOARD UP ON HIGHWAY FIVE. WE KEEP IT UP FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND TAKE IT DOWN TO BACK UP ITS ON WEST HERE ON HIGHWAY FIVE. WE HAVE A SIMILAR IN PIZZ. AND THEN THAT IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF FOUR OF OUR EDUCATIONAL ADS THAT ALTERNATE IN COMMUNITY IMPACT. SO WE ALTERNATE EDUCATIONAL ADS, ALONG WITH THE PROMOTIONAL EDUCATIONAL ADS AND COMMUNITY IMPACT EVERY SINGLE MONTH. AND THEN LYNDA'S BEING BEEN DOING A GREAT JOB OF INCORPORATING WHERE SHE CANNOT PROMOTIONAL ITEMS. THE BIO MCKINNEY SPEND IT, SPEND IT HERE, KEEP IT HERE, TYING THAT ALL TOGETHER ON THE PROMOTIONAL ITEMS. AND THEN WE'VE ALSO TO REACH OUTSIDE OF JUST HERE. WE ALSO DO COLLABORATIVE ADVERTISING WITH THE CITY VISIT MCKINNEY, UM MAIN STREET. AND THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE DID IT. WE DID A FUTURE IN ART IN AROUND DFW. IT WENT INTO THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS AND FORT WORTH STAR TELEGRAM. WE DID A FULL PAGE AD, AND THEN WE ALSO HAD A LANDING PAGE ON THE CITY'S WEBSITE, WHERE IT WAS A BLOG STYLE WHERE IT TALKED ABOUT HOW YOU COULD SPEND THE DAY IN MAKENI, SAYING OUR ART BUT SHOPPING AND DINING. IT WAS A
[00:40:03]
HUGE SUCCESS. AND THEN ALSO WE DID A COLLABORATIVE ADVERTISING. UM, AND THIS IS OUR. GENERAL ADDED TALKS ABOUT ALL THE REASONS WHY PEOPLE WANT TO SHOP, DYING, LIVE, PLAY WORK, AND MCKINNEY AND THIS WAS IN A DALLAS MORNING NEWS IN THEIR GOLF EDITION. SO WE KIND OF HIGHLIGHTED THE BYRON NELSON. SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR. WE'RE STILL DOING MOST OF THESE THINGS. THIS YEAR. WE'RE WORKING ON SOME DIFFERENT IDEAS FOR THE COLLABORATIVE ADVERTISING. WE HAVE A SPECIAL COLLABORATE GROUP FOR THE BYRON NELSON THAT WE VISIT MAKENI, THE CITY. UM WE'RE ALL TOGETHER WORKING ON OUR PLANS FOR THE BYRON NELSON THIS YEAR TO DO MORE COLLABORATIVE AND COLLECTIVE AND HAVE A BIGGER IMPACT THAN WHAT WE HAD LAST YEAR. AND WE'RE ALSO LOOKING USING THE RETAIL COACH DATA TO LOOK AT WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE COMING FOR OUR LARGER EVENTS AND LOOKING AT FOCUSING A LITTLE BIT MORE DIGITAL ADVERTISING IN THOSE AREAS TO ENTICE THEM TO COME MORE OFTEN AND TO REPEAT. SO BECAUSE WE KNOW THEY'RE COMING FROM CERTAIN AREAS, SO THAT'S OUR FOCUS THIS YEAR IS TO DO MORE DIGITAL AND FOCUS IN THOSE AREAS TO INCREASE MORE PEOPLE TO COME. SO I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. I JUST THINK IT'S A GREAT JOB AND THANK YOU TO THE MARKETING SUBCOMMITTEE FOR THE FEEDBACK. I KNOW WE HAD A IN DEPTH DISCUSSION AT ONE OF OUR LAST MEETINGS, BUT I THINK THIS IS GREAT. ARE THERE ANY OTHER COME. HAVE A QUESTION.SOMETHING IS YEAH. YEAH, I'M JUST THRILLED WITH THE WORK AND I WAS GLAD TO BE A PART OF IT.
AND IT'S AMAZING THE AMOUNT. WE GOT A LITTLE TOUCH OF IT, BUT I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAD BEEN IN. UM SO KUDOS TO YOU FOR ALL THE WORK ON THAT. THANK YOU. SO I WAS AT THE LAST MAIN STREET BOARD MEETING. AND UH I WISH I'D TAKEN BETTER NOTES ARE PAID MORE ATTENTION, BUT THERE WAS A VERY INTERESTING CONCEPT ABOUT LINKING SOCIAL MEDIA FEEDS. TO, UM. AND GEORGE, YOU WERE THERE TOO. THEY'RE TALKING. WHAT'S IT CALLED? ZERO HIM. BUT. BUT ULTIMATELY IF ONE PERSON'S SOCIAL MEDIA FEED WAS INTERESTED IN SOMETHING IT COULD GET LINKED AUTOMATICALLY AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA FEEDS, SO IT WAS A REAL EXPONENTIAL. PROMOTION AND IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING AND I WAS WONDERING IF THAT'S IF THAT'S GOING BEYOND MAIN STREET IF WE IF SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO HERE, PARTICULARLY NOT ABOUT NCDC AGAIN, BUT ABOUT THE BY BY MCKINNEY. CONCEPT IF THAT IF THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY TO LINK THAT IN ONCE, ONCE THAT'S OFF THE GROUND. I JUST WANT TO GIVE YOU A HEADS UP ON IT. YEAH, NO, THANK YOU. AND I WILL TALK BACK TO OUR TEAM AND FIND OUT MORE ABOUT IT THERE. ALREADY IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO DO THAT WITHIN THE PLATFORM THAT WE ACTUALLY USE, SO I WILL. I JUST HAVE TO RESEARCH THAT MORE. BUT THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT TO MY ATTENTION, AND I'LL GO BACK TO THE TEAM. YEAH, IT WAS REALLY IMPRESSIVE. IT WAS ON THURSDAY MORNING AND I WAS IMMEDIATELY THINKING ABOUT A WAY TO DO THIS. AND NEITHER THE BY MCKINNEY STUFF OR AGAIN THE PROMOTION OF THE NONPROFIT SUPPORTED EVENTS THAT WE DO THAT'S THAT'S THE KIND OF THING THAT WE'RE ALWAYS THINKING OF. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY HAPPY TO AND YOU'RE ALWAYS THINKING OF THAT. SOME GREAT IDEA. SO THANK YOU. AND JUST THANK YOU SO MUCH. IT WAS. IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH YOU AND YOUR TEAM. YOU HAVE TO HOLD SO MUCH COMPLEXITY SO MUCH CREATIVITY. THINK ABOUT THE ENTIRE. CITY AND ALL THAT'S GOING ON AND YOU COME UP WITH MOST AMAZING IDEAS. I COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WITH THE WAY THEIR NEW CDC WEBSITE LOOKS. YOU'VE GOT THOSE FOUR COLLINS APPLIED STRAIGHT LINE VERY HAPPY ABOUT THAT. BUT THANK YOU. IT'S JUST SUCH A PLEASURE. AND DO YOU HAVE I STILL HAVE MY BIONIC? MY KEEP IT HERE. SIGN YARD SIGN. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE HOLIDAY ONCE YOU HAVE YARD SIGNS. WE DO NOT, BUT I'M SURE THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I CAN WORK WITH LINDA AND CINDY TO DO. THAT'S A GREAT IDE. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT TO OUR ATTENTION. OKAY WELL, I KNOW THE TIME IS SHORT TO USE THOSE. SO I THOUGHT IF YOU HAD WHEN I WOULD I WOULD GET ONE AND REMIND MY NEIGHBORS TO DO SOME HOLIDAY SHOPPING IN MCKINNEY. THAT'S A GREAT IDEA. THANK YOU. ANYTHING ELSE? THANK YOU AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING THEY DO. EX AGENDA ITEM 21 01040 CONSIDERED AND
