SO THIS MORNING WE'RE PLEASED TO HAVE DOUG THOMAS BACK AGAIN. WE JUST MET WITH HIM ON FEBRUARY 11TH WHERE YOU HAD YOUR GOOD MORNING. WE HAD YOUR FIRST SESSION. THIS IS ONE THAT YOU ALL AGREED TO HAVE. WHICH IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE DONE THIS A FOLLOW UP SESSION. TO HELP WORK THROUGH A COUNCIL ESTABLISHING SORT OF WHAT ARE YOUR RELATIVE PRIORITIES? OF THESE STRATEGIC GOALS. IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT. THE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED, AREN'T A PRIORITY OR AREN'T THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE WORKING ON. BUT IT IS HELPFUL FOR STAFF TO KIND OF KNOW WHAT THE COUNCIL'S HIGHEST PRIORITIES ARE. IN DOING THAT. WE ASKED YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN A SURVEY WAS AN ANONYMOUS SURVEY. BUT WHAT IT DID WAS IT HELPED US GET A GENERAL IDEA OF WHERE THE COUNCIL IS ON ANY OF THESE PARTICULAR RANK ORDER PRIORITIES AS WELL AS SOME OF THE THINGS WE TALKED ABOUT THE SESSION ON FEBRUARY 11TH. SO DOG IS HERE TO GUIDE US THROUGH THIS PROCESS MIGHT FEEL A LITTLE CHOPPY. IT MIGHT FEEL A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE AND WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS IT WILL PERHAPS BE A SMOOTH WHEN YOU'VE IDENTIFIED YOUR GOALS, AND NOW YOU HAVE TO SORT OF HASH OUT WHICH ONE OF THE BIGGEST PRIORITIES ALL OF YOU HAVE. MAYBE YOUR OWN SET OF PRIORITIES OUR OWN GOALS. THAT YOU'D LIKE TO SEE AND WE HAVE TO KIND OF WORK THROUGH THOSE. SO THE INTENT OF COURSE, IS THAT THE COUNCIL IS A BODY ABSOLUTELY INDICATES TO US WHAT THOSE RELATIVE PRIORITIES ARE AND THROUGH THIS PROCESS, BUT JUST UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS REALLY AS MUCH AS YOU WANT TO PUT INTO IT. I HAD A COUPLE PEOPLE ASK ME HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE. I DON'T KNOW. IT'S REALLY UP TO YOU, BUT I THINK YOU COULD PROBABLY GO THROUGH THIS AND TWO HOURS OR LESS IF WE CAN, BUT IT'S REALLY AS MUCH TIME AS YOU WISH TO SPEND ON IT AS A BODY. DOUG HAS DONE THIS. PUT ME ON ANOTHER FLIGHT THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE AT 4 30. WE WERE GETTING OFF AT ABOUT 5 15 OR SO AT THAT TIME THAT FLIGHT HAD BEEN DELAYED. THE 6 36 45. THROUGH AUSTIN, BUT I ALREADY HAD, LIKE A 20 MINUTE WINDOW AND THAT FLIGHT HADN'T LEFT YET. SO I CALLED SOUTHWEST AND SAID, THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK. I'M GOING TO GET STUCK IN AUSTIN. I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE IT BACK UP SO LONG STORY SHORT, THEY ENDED UP PUTTING HIM ON A FLIGHT TO GO TO LAGUARDIA AIRPORT. AND THEN THAT WOULD THAT FLIGHT. BUT AS I MENTIONED WILL REITERATE SOME OF THESE THINGS TODAY. THERE'S A LOT ON YOUR PLATE AND SOMETIMES STAFFS IN A POSITION OF SAYING, WHERE DO I GO? WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE? AND EVERY PLACE DOES THIS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENTLY. I WILL JUST TELL YOU FOR HAVING DONE THESE AND A NUMBER OF COMMUNITIES AS ELECTED OFFICIALS. I KNOW IT'S HARD TO [00:05:04] GIVE SOMETHING UP. SO I'VE TRIED TO SAY YOU'RE REALLY NOT GIVING ANYTHING UP ON THIS ONE. WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO DO IS JUST PROVIDE SOME SENSE OF PRIORITIES OF ALL THINGS CAN'T BE EQUAL, SO TO SPEAK. UM BUT I KNOW THAT AS IT GETS A LITTLE BIT AWKWARD AT TIMES, AND THERE'S NO ONE WAY TO DO IT. EVERY PLACE I DO. THIS HAS A LITTLE LITTLE DIFFERENT LOOK AND FEEL TO IT AS WELL. BUT I THINK IT WILL HELP YOUR STAFF TO REALLY COME TO A BETTER SENSE THEY AFTER YOU'VE IDENTIFIED ALL YOUR PRIORITIES UNDER YOUR GOALS. THEY OUTLINED CLOSE TO THERE'S CLOSE TO 100 AND 91, OR ALMOST 200 OBJECTIVES THAT THEY'RE TRACKING TO TRY TO SEE HOW WE'RE PROGRESSING WELL. IN SOME CASES, SOME OF YOUR LOWEST PRIORITIES MAY HAVE 567 DIFFERENT EIGHT TRACKING OBJECTIVES ASSOCIATED WITH IT, AND THERE'S SOME TIME AND STAFF TIME INVOLVED WITH THAT. SO THE SENSES, LET'S SEE WHERE THE COUNCIL MAY BE WITH REGARDS TO YOUR HIGHEST LEVEL OF PRIORITIES. AND THEN THE OBJECTIVES AND THE PROCESSES CAN GO INTO THAT EFFORT AS WELL. NOW THAT BEING SAID, IT'S A BODY OF SEVEN. YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT FEEDBACK. YOU'RE GONNA HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS, AND WE'RE HERE TO HELP YOU KIND OF WORK YOUR WAY THROUGH THAT PROCESS. BUT IN ORDER TO DO THAT, WE'VE TRIED TO USE THIS SURVEY TO AT LEAST BE A KIND OF A FOUNDATIONAL DOCUMENT SO THAT YOU CAN INDIVIDUALLY CHIME IN ON WHERE YOU THOUGHT IT'S ALL DONE. SO THE GOAL HERE IS TO TRY TO JUST BE SENSITIVE.
