[Proclamation for Dallas Off-Road Bike Association (DORBA)]
PROCLAMATION FOR THE DALLAS OFF ROAD BIKE ASSOCIATION. FOLLOWED BY THE APPROXIMATION FOR JUNETEENTH NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY.TODAY WAS OUR GRAND OPENING OF THE IRWIN PARK SKILLS AREA. IT'S BEEN A PROJECT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR 16 MONTHS AS WELL OVER 2000 VOLUNTEER HOURS REMOVED OVER 7000 TONS OF DIRT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT A DIRECT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF MCKINNEY NORMALS WE HAVE HERE TODAY IS ITS SKILLS AREA THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE TO ADVANCE FROM BEGINNER TO REALLY PUSH THEMSELVES AND GET A NEW EXPERIENCE. WHAT THIS PROJECT WOULD DO MORE THAN THAT IS RING PEOPLE TO URBAN PARK INTO THE CITY IN THE GYM. NORMALLY USUALLY ARE HISTORICALLY HAD BEEN MORE KIND OF GEARED TOWARDS LIKE CROSS COUNTRY RIDING, BUT CREATING JUMP LINES AND, UM, DROPS AND THIS NEW FEATURES LIKE THAT KIND OF BRINGING NEW WRITER TO THE SCENE, AND THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT CAME SPECIFICALLY JUST FOR THE JUMPS THAT HAVE JUST BEEN BUILT OUT HERE. SO IMPRESSIVE ABOUT THIS BUILDING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. THE CITY GOT BEHIND IT, AND THEY SAW THE BIG PICTURE A NEW VENUE, A NEW GREEN SPACE FOR FAMILIES TO COME OUT AND SPEND TIME TOGETHER AND INVITES ALL LEVELS OF RIDERS FROM BEGINNERS TO KIDS ON STRIDERS, PROFESSIONAL MOUNTAIN BIKERS. THEY CAN ALL COME OUT HERE. ENJOY YOUR SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND HAVE A GREAT TIME. CLUTCHES WE HAVE SIX LINES. THERE'S A THERE'S AN ADVANCED LINE WITH AN ALTERNATE ROUTES. THERE'S TWO LINES ACTUALLY IN THAT THERE'S 200 IMMEDIATE LINES TO BEGIN REALIZING THERE'S ACROSS COUNTRY LINES. SO WHAT THAT DOES IS THAT BRINGS PEOPLE FROM CITIES ALL AROUND US THAT WILL COME HERE AND VISIT THE PARK. BUT THEN LEAVE GO TO THE LOCAL GAS STATIONS, GO TO LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND GO TO THE LOCAL BIKE SHOPS AND SHOP AROUND. I THINK ANY CITY THAT WANTS TO DO THIS. THIS IS A WHAT I WOULD CALL A LOW COST AMENITY. THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO GET HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OUTSIDE USING YOUR OPEN SPACES AND PARKS , BUT YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE A GOOD DESIGN TEAM. YOU'VE GOT TO HAVE A GOOD PARTNERSHIP WITH A NONPROFIT. AND WHEN YOU DO, YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THE RESULTS LIKE YOU'VE SEEN HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE USING THIS FACILITY. NICE. HI UM, YEAH, YEAH. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THAT WAS AN EXCITING DAY. I'M GRAND OPENING. AND. AFTER I READ THIS WOULD LOVE YOU TO SHARE THE STORY. HOW IT CAME TO BE REAL QUICK. JUST THE IT'S SUCH A SUCH A GREAT STORY. SYDNEY MCKINNEY

AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW, COUPLE OF THE GUYS SAID HEY, WE COULD RIDE OVER THAT. AND WE STARTED RIDING OVER AND RIDING OVER IT IN THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW, WE HAD A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO HAD SOME VISION AND SAID WE COULD BUILD SOMETHING THERE. WE WORKED WITH MIKE KOWSKI PARKS DIRECTOR AND HIS TEAM PARTNERED WITH US. AND FOR THE LAST 16 MONTHS, EVERYBODY YOU SEE UP HERE HAS BUILT CALLUSES BUT BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS INTO THAT. THOSE WERE ALL SOME OF THE EARLY SETTLERS THAT CAME HERE. SO OF COURSE SINCE 1984 SINCE MY HUSBAND LAWRENCE, AND I'M MARRIED AND CAME BACK TO MCKINNEY. I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN HISTORIC PRESERVATION. HELEN HALL GOT ME ON MY FIRST BOARD HERE. I WAS ON THE TEXAS HISTORIC COMMISSION WITH HER FIRST BEFORE I GO ANY FURTHER ON THAT. I WANTED TO HAVE GRATITUDE TO ALL OF YOU FOR ALL THE RES. OF THEM. SO TONIGHT I'M GOING TO RESIGN FROM YOUR APPOINTED HISTORIC PRESERVATION ADVISORY BOARD AND NO LONGER FEEL THE PURPOSE. UM I'M NOT PRACTICING WHAT I PREACH WHAT I WAS TAUGHT ON THIS BOARD. THE MISSION OF THIS BOARD IS TO PRESERVE, PROTECT AND EDUCATE ABOUT HISTORIC PRESERVATION. I'M NOT DOING THAT. AND WASTING MY TIME AND YOUR TIME. SO I APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU'VE DONE. CONSISTS OF ITEMS REQUIRING INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION BY THE COUNCIL TO 20514 CONSIDERING ACTING A RESOLUTION RENAMING THE OLD CELLARS AQUATIC CENTER LOCATED 11 OH ONE EAST LOUISIANA STREET. SCHAKOWSKY. GOOD EVENING MICRO KOWSKI, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION. HE'S WITH GREAT JOY THAT I GET TO SPEAK TONIGHT ABOUT BOLD DECORATIONS. THE AQUATIC CENTER. IN PARTICULAR, THE AQUATIC CENTER IS LOCATED TELLERS PARK ON THE EAST SIDE OF MCKINNEY. AND THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TODAY. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, I'M HONORED TO RECOMMEND TO CITY COUNCIL TO RENAME THE AQUATIC CENTER AFTER THE LATE GILDA GARCIA GARZA. NOW THIS PROPOSAL HAS GONE THROUGH OUR PARKS AND RECREATION GRADUALLY BOARD THOSE OF YOU WHO JOINED US AT NIGHTS. OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT. FROM THE COMMUNITY FROM FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CIVIC LEADERS IN SUPPORT OF THIS AND ONE LITTLE TIDBIT ABOUT A MINUTE BEFORE THE MEETING, SOMEBODY FUND OR YOUR BIG PICTURE. THAT WAS GOOD TO HEAVEN, THE FINAL PUBLIC RECORD AS WELL. IN TERMS OF PROCEDURES. WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO HONOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE MADE A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY BASED ON EXCELLENCE OR DURATION OF COMMITTEE. I WOULD SUBMIT THAT THAT OR SHOULD BE EXCELLENT AND DURATION OF COMMITMENT. THE LATE MRS GARZA SERVED THE CITY MCKINNEY AND CITY COUNCIL IN THE EARLY TWO THOUSANDS FOR THREE TERMS. AS BETH MENTIONED EARLIER AS THE FIRST FEMALE HISPANIC REPRESENTATIVE AND CITY COUNCIL TRUE SUPPORTER OF DISTRICT ONE. THIS IS A SMART COLLECTION OF LETTERS OF SUPPORT. SO I'M THE AGENDA ITEM IF THERE IS A PACKET THAT HAS A SERIES OF LETTERS IN THERE FROM HER GOOD FRIENDS, CAROLINE AND NINA, AS WELL AS FROM DAVID CRAIG AND MAYOR LACK MILLER. AND ALSO A PROCLAMATION GIVEN UP BY THE MAYOR IN 2019. I SUSPECT THAT SOME COUNCIL MEMBERS, WE WANT TO SPEAK IN SOME DETAIL ON THIS MATTER. SO I WILL PAUSE MY CAMERA AT THIS TIME, BUT I WILL SAY THAT THERE WAS A UNANIMOUS RECOMMENDATION FROM THE PARKS. RECREATION ARRIVED ABOARD IN SUPPORT OF THIS RENAMED THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MIKE. THE COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS. I'LL MAKE SOME COMMENTS. UM. UM OBVIOUSLY IN FAVOR OF THIS. I GOT TO MEET GILDA A COUPLE OF TIMES AND I DON'T KNOW IF FIERCE IS THE RIGHT WORD, BUT BUT THAT'S WHAT THAT HOW USE UM BUT BUT I'VE ALSO, UM I GUESS WHAT I WHAT I WANT TO MENTION IS UM, GUILT GUILT OF LEARNED FROM TWO PEOPLE. A GENTLEMAN NAMED FRANK GARCIA. WHO IS HER UNCLE, I BELIEVE IS THAT CORRECT? ANDREA AND ANOTHER NAMED FATHER, SAMUELSON, WHO MADE A HUGE EFFORT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF LA LOMA IN THE SEVENTIES. AND THE, UM. I GUESS THE ACTIVISM THAT THEY TAUGHT AND THAT WAS LEARNED AT THAT TIME CHANGED THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHANGED THE COMMUNITY AND BETWEEN LEONARD GONZALEZ AND GILDA GARZA AND HUH? WAHA AND, UH BARNEY. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE BENEFITED FROM THAT TIME AND GILDA IS THE SHINING STAR.AND, UM IN ANDREA, GILDA'S DAUGHTER SENT ME A LIST OF KIND OF THINGS THAT THAT GILDA WAS
[00:30:02]
PROUD OF IN HER SERVICE AND NUMBER ONE WAS THE AQUATIC CENTER. THE TOP OF THAT LIST WAS THE THING THE AQUATIC CENTER AND WHAT A GIFT TO THE COMMUNITY AND HAS BEEN, UM AND SO I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE ON THIS, AND I AM EXCITED THAT EVERYBODY WILL GET TO SEE AND UNDERSTAND THE CONTRIBUTION THAT SHE MADE AND ESPECIALLY HER GRANDDAUGHTERS, PIPER AND IZZY. AND SO THEY WILL ALWAYS KNOW HOW IMPORTANT GILDA WAS TO HER COMMUNITY. UM AND SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I SAID. ALL SET. CONTEXT ELVIS THINKING IT BUT GILDA WAS A GIFT TO THIS COMMUNITY. AGAIN. SHE WAS SHE WAS GREAT WOMAN HE ALWAYS KNEW WHERE SHE STOOD, WHICH I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. I CAN'T THINK OF ANYBODY. HMM. DESERVES THIS MORE THAN GILDA.AND IF YOU EVER BEEN AROUND GILDA AND TALKED TO GILDA? NOT ONLY WAS SHE A DURING HER COMMUNITY, BUT SHE WAS A GREAT LISTENER. I MEAN, SHE YOU WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM. YOU GO TALK TO HER, AND SHE WOULD GO GET SOMETHING DONE. I THINK SHE COULD HAVE TAKEN BARNEY SHE WAS TOUGH. UH I WANNA REMARK. I DIDN'T KNOW GILDA. WELL, I TALKED TO A COUPLE OF TIMES. I WAS A DAD TRYING TO CHASE THREE KIDS AROUND AND BUILD A BUSINESS. WELL, SHE WAS PLAYING HER CRAFT. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED HER, BUT NOT ANYWHERE NEAR AS MUCH CYPRIOT. SHE ATE HER NOW HAVING SPENT A COUPLE OF MONTHS HERE ON THE DIET. THIS IS A BIG JOB TO BE UP HERE AND I AM BLESSED. BELIEVE ME, WE'RE ALL BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO BE UP HERE. BUT MAN UM, YOU KNOW IF I DIDN'T HAVE MY OWN TIME. BE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW MY OWN BUSINESS AND BE ABLE TO DO IT WOULD BE REALLY HARD. SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF PEOPLE UP HERE SO FREQUENTLY, IT'S PEOPLE WITH THEIR OWN BUSINESSES AND WHO HAVE THE TIME TO DO IT BECAUSE YOU KNOW, LIFE'S BEEN GOOD TO THEM. GILDED WORKED, MAN. YOU KNOW SHE WAS WORKING IN, UH, IN GIVEN THAT SHE DID NOT MAIL IT IN AT ALL IS JUST SO HUMBLING AND IMPRESSIVE TO ME SO AH, THIS DISHONOR IS PROBABLY OVERDUE.
BUT I'M AWFULLY GLAD I GET TO BE UP HERE WHEN IT'S DONE. I DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO MEET HER.
UNFORTUNATELY AND I AND I THINK THAT'S A GREAT LOSS FOR ME. WHAT IS NOT LOST ON ME IS THE FACT THAT SHE WAS ONE OF THE FEW WOMEN THAT HAS SERVED ON THIS COUNCIL. AND IT IS NOT, UM SOMETHING THAT I TAKE LIGHTLY THAT SHE REALLY PAVED THE WAY. FOR A LOT OF VERY POWERFUL, VERY INTELLIGENT, VERY DRIVEN, PASSIONATE WOMEN IN THIS COMMUNITY TO REALLY STEP THROUGH SOME DOORS THAT PROBABLY WERE NOT OPEN TO US BEFORE. AND THE STEP INTO IT SO BOLDLY ENOUGH TO MAKE THESE TYPES OF CHANGES WITH THE HEART TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY . THAT IS TRULY AN EXAMPLE A LEGACY THAT SHE LEAVES BEHIND FOR ALL OF US TO FOLLOW. BUT I AS A WOMAN AND PROUD TO FOLLOW, SO I WANT TO THANK HER AND HER FAMILY FOR BEING HERE TODAY. GREAT. JUSTIN SHE IS REPRESENTED . YOUR DISTRICT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE IF YOU WANTED TO MAKE THE MOTION. ABSOLUTELY I WILL GLADLY MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE THIS ITEM SECOND. CAST YOUR VOTES. UNANIMOUS. YEA0

THIS IS NOT A TAKING. THIS IS A HELPING THE PROPERTY OWNERS COME TO A AGREEMENT OF A FAIR AND NEGOTIABLE PRICE. THERE IS SPECIFIC LANGUAGE IN THE AGENDA OR ICERS FOR APPROVAL, AND IT WOULD ALSO REQUIRE A ROLL CALL VOTE. SO I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE. THIS IS NOT NECESSARILY INVOKING EMINENT DOMAIN, BUT IT'S AUTHORIZING THE USE OF EMINENT ONLY PROCEDURES IN THE EVENT. WE CANNOT SETTLE IT AMICABLY. THAT IS CORRECT. AND JUST FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT.
WE ALWAYS PUT UP ENOUGH MONEY TO COVER WHAT WE BELIEVE THAT REASONABLE MARKET PRICES PROPERTY? YES TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. AND THEN WE'LL GO OUT AND GO TO ONE OF OUR COUNTY COURTS WHEREVER IT GETS ASSIGNED , WILL FOLLOW LAWSUIT CONDEMNED THE PROPERTY. THERE WILL BE A BOARD OF SPECIAL COMMISSIONERS APPOINTED TO EVALUATE THE OFFERS FROM BOTH SIDES HAS ONE IS REASONABLE MARKET VALUE. AND ULTIMATELY, ANY POINT DURING THESE PROCESSES IF WE CAN REACH AN AGREEMENT WITH THE LANDOWNER WE CAN PURCHASE THE PROPERTY FROM THEM, AND IF NOT, WE CAN GO TO A JURY TRIAL AND THEN WE WILL WIND UP PAYING. WHATEVER JURY TELLS US THAT PIECE OF PROPERTY IS WORTH. AND SO ULTIMATELY IT'S A FORCED PURCHASE IF WE CANNOT NEGOTIATE A GOOD FAITH PURCHASE WITH THE LANDOWNER. CORRECT. JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT WAS SAID BEFORE I READ THIS MOTION. MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THIS ATOM HAS WRITTEN AN AUTHORIZED THE USE OF THE POWER OF EMINENT DOMAIN TO ACQUIRE ALL NECESSARY EASEMENTS FROM DENVILLE, MIXING AS IDENTIFIED AS OWNER OF RECORD BY THE COLLIN COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT. IN ANY OTHER PERSONS OR ENTITIES, CLAIMING AN INTEREST TO THE PROPERTY GENERALLY INDICATED ON THE ATTACHED PROPERTY LOCATION MAP FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SANITARY, SEWER LINE AND ASSOCIATED DRAINAGE FACILITIES.
CHECK IT SECOND. THIS WILL REQUIRE ROLL CALL COUNCILMAN FILMS VOTES, YES. FILTERS. YES.
AIR FULLER. YES, INCLUDING A YES. RICK FRANKLIN. YES. JUSTIN BELLER. YES. MOTION PASSES.
[Consider/Discuss/Act on Election of Mayor Pro Tem]
EXCITING IS 2 TO 0516 CONSIDERING ACT ON ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM I WOULD ASK THAT[00:40:03]
WE CONTINUE THE ASYLUM TO THE NEXT MEETING WHEN COUNCIL MEMBERS WOULD BE PRESENT. JET SATISFACTORY ACCEPTABLE TO ME. YES, SIR. YES, MOTION ON THAT. THAT'S WHAT MAKES THE MOTION CONTINUE THIS ITEM TO THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING SECOND CAST YOUR VOTES. MOTION PASSES WILL MOVE[CITIZEN COMMENTS ON MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA]
TO CITIZEN COMMENTS ON MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA. HAVE FIRST DAN PORZIO.GOSH I DIDN'T EXPECT TO BE CALLED FIRST. I'M NOT READY. UM, A COUPLE OF THINGS. UM. I TOLD YOU THIS PRIVATELY, BUT I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE BYRON NELSON. THE OPERATION. THE WEATHER THE TOURNAMENT. WHAT ELSE COULD YOU ASK FOR? I WASN'T ABLE TO ATTEND, BUT. YOU CAN DO THIS RIGHT? OR YOU CAN NOT DO IT RIGHT. AND YOU ALL DID IT RIGHT. THE SECOND THING I WANTED TO BRING UP IS. I'M GETTING A LITTLE BIT WORRIED IN SOME OF THE SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT I ASSOCIATE WITH ARE RECIPIENTS OS WELL AS ME OR ANYBODY ELSE. ARE THE RECIPIENTS OF THREATS, ATTACKS. DOXING I DON'T LIKE IT. AND IF ANYTHING, GOES BEYOND WHAT I'VE OBSERVED. AND WHAT I'VE HEARD. I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE CALL ME AND SAY, WHAT DO I DO? YOU KNOW IF THIS WAS 35 40 YEARS AGO, I WOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. BUT I AM DISTRESSED. AND THAT'S NOT RIGHT. UM THE OTHER THING IS. AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS. WE HAVE 15 COPS. 15 COPS DO WE NEED 15 COPS AT A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING? I DON'T THINK SO. IT LOOKS LIKE AN ARMED ENCAMPMENT. WE'VE GOT BARRIERS UP. WE'VE GOT A COP OVER HERE AND A COP OVER THERE. NOT THAT I HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST LAW ENFORCEMENT. IT JUST LOOKS THE OPTICS. ARE BAD. IT'S INTIMIDATING TO SOME PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO COME AND SPEAK AT A BOARDING SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. IT'S NOT RIGHT. AND I'M WORRIED.
THAT. WE HAVE ONE MORE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING THAT WE'RE OFF FOR THE SUMMER AND THEN WE PICK IT UP AGAIN IN AUGUST. AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY I DON'T WANT TO SAY, YOU KNOW, THERE'S MANY ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF, AND PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO SPEAK OUT, AND I DON'T LIKE THAT. I NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH THAT IN IN ALL THIS STUFF THAT I DID WHEN PEOPLE CAME TO A MEETING WHERE I WAS TRYING TO GET ZONING OR PLANNING OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT THEY WEREN'T AFRAID TO SPEAK. IT'S THE HEIGHT OF INTIMIDATION. I'VE BEEN THE VICTIM VICTIM OF OURSELF. AND WE SAW WHAT HAPPENED WITH CHAD GREEN. THAT WHOLE THING WAS WRONG. $16,000. FOR LAWYERS. YOU KNOW HOW MANY ROBOTS I COULD BUY FOR $16,000? SO IT'S WE GOT. WE GOT A WAYS TO GO. AND I'VE STOOD HERE AND SAID I'M WILLING, BUT I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN MY PHONE LIGHTS UP LIKE THAT. ADAM. TAMMY WARREN. GOOD EVENING, DARYN CITY COUNCIL BEFORE I BEGIN. I'M GOING TO SPEAK ON A VERY SENSITIVE TOPIC, AND I'M VERY NERVOUS ABOUT IT BECAUSE I COME IN LOVE. I LOVE THIS TOWN. I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS TOWN. I KNOW WE'RE GROWING AND WE'RE GETTING DIVERSE IDEAS. SO I JUST HOPE AND PRAY THAT WHATEVER I SAY IT'S TAKEN IN THE SPIRIT OF LOVE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THIS COMMUNITY THAT BEING SAID I NEED TO ADDRESS ABOUT A COUPLE OF PRIDE EVENTS SCHEDULED IN MCKINNEY. THE REASON I'M ADDRESSING THESE IS BECAUSE I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN THESE BEFORE AND THEY CAN GET UGLY, REAL QUICK. OKAY SO, UH, DRAG QUEEN BINGO IS COMING ON AT TUFTS.
THIS SUNDAY. MCKINNEY PRIDE AT BOOBY COUPE ON THE 24TH DRAG QUEEN. BINGO NO BIG DEAL. IT'S A PRIVATE EVENT IN A PRIVATE PLACE. I DON'T HAVE TO GO. UM GROOVY COOP. I THINK WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THAT BECAUSE IT'S RIGHT HERE ON THE SQUARE. AND THE CITY OF PRINCETON LEARNED A VERY DIFFICULT LESS THAN LAST YEAR, THEY HAD A PRIDE EVENT NEAR THE SQUARE AND PUBLIC VIEWER. EVERYONE THERE WERE KIDS INVOLVED. THE PICTURES CAME OUT ONLINE. IT BLEW UP HORRIBLE CITY
[00:45:03]
COUNCIL MEETING THE NEXT WEEK. I WAS THERE. BOTH SIDES WERE VERY UPSET BECAUSE KIDS WERE INVOLVED . AND IT WAS RIGHT IN THE PUBLIC VIEW THAT THE THING THAT GROOVY COOP MAKES ME NERVOUS BECAUSE OVER 300 PEOPLE WELL ABOUT 300 PEOPLE WANT TO GO. IT'S FRIDAY THE 24TH FROM 2 TO 6. THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO HAVE THAT EVENT AS A PRIVATE EVENT. BUT 300 PEOPLE IT'S GOING TO SPILL INTO THE STREETS. THEY ALREADY ON THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE. YOU CAN SEE THEY'RE HAVING VENDORS WITH TABLES OUT FRONT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO BE SELLING. BUT WHAT PRINCETON LEARNED FROM THEIR LESSONS. THEY LEARNED NUMBER ONE THAT IF PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE PRIDE EVENTS IN PRINCETON, THEY HAVE TO GET A PERMIT FROM THE CITY. AND THEY HAVE TO LET THE CITY KNOW WHO THE ENTERTAINMENT IS GOING TO BE. I THINK THAT'S A GOOD IDEA. THE THING THAT GROOVY COUPE THEY'RE SAYING THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE SPECIAL GUESTS. WE DON'T KNOW WHO THOSE ARE GONNA BE. WE DON'T KNOW IF CHILDREN ARE GONNA BE WALKING BY. DON'T KNOW IF CHILDREN ARE GONNA BE IN THE STORE. EXCUSE ME IN THE STORE, SO I THINK PRINCETON PASSED A VERY GOOD ORDINANCE FOR PRIDE EVENTS. LET US KNOW YOU'RE HAVING ONE WHO'S YOUR ENTERTAINMENT, AND IF IT'S AN ADULT ENTERTAINER, IT HAS TO BE PRIVATE. AND IT'S 21 ENOUGH. ONLY THIS YEAR. THEIR PRIDE EVENT. IS THAT A PRIVATE PARK THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY IN AND ONE WAY OUT, SO THERE'S NO RISK OF CHILDREN RIDING BIKES BY LIKE THEY DID LAST YEAR. SO THAT'S THE FIRST THING I THINK WE NEED TO CONSIDER IS MAKE SURE THAT IT'S PRIVATE. MAKE SURE THAT'S KEPT IN THE STORE. YOURS MOTHERS IN LAW AND YOUR AND YOUR WIVES. SHALL WE ALL GO DOWNTOWN? I LOVE DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY. UM I'M NOT SURE THAT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO STUMBLE UPON AND GROOVY COUPE SCHOOL STORE.BUT WE NEED TO. WE NEED TO JUST KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. THIS IS A SEXUALLY ORIENTED AND THEN IT IS IT'S ABOUT SEXUAL ORIENTATION, AND THESE CAN GO VERY AWRY QUICKLY. UM THE OTHER THING, UM BESIDES BEING PRIVATE AND GET A PERMIT FROM THE CITY AND LET THEM KNOW WHO THE ENTERTAINMENT GOING TO BE, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A DRAG QUEEN DRAG QUEENS ARE ADULT ENTERTAINERS FOR 21, ANOTHER ONLY WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF THAT, UM THE OTHER THING IS THAT PRINCETON'S ENACTED AN ORDINANCE THAT POLICE NEED TO ATTEND THESE EVENTS. THEY JUST NEED TO MONITOR AND KEEP THE PEACE. I WAS IN DALLAS THIS LAST WEEKEND. WE ALL SAW WHAT HAPPENED. I WAS THERE AT THAT DRAG QUEEN EVENT FOR KIDS. IT CAN GET REALLY UGLY. THE POLICE WERE THERE TO KEEP THE PEACE, BUT WHAT WE BEGGED THEM TO DO WAS TO GO INSIDE AND MONITOR AND THEY DID NOT DO THAT. AND SO WHEN THOSE KIDS CAME OUT, AND THOSE PICTURES CAME OUT ONLINE, I REALLY WISH THE POLICE WOULD HAVE WOULD HAVE MONITORED THAT. SO I JUST ASKED YOU ALL TO KEEP OUR CITY PEACEFUL FOR BOTH SIDES. THANK YOU. NINA DOWELL RINGLEY. THINK I HAVE HER ON THIS LIST OF ANOTHER TIME, I GUESS. I DON'T KNOW IF SHE PLANNED ON SPEAKING AGAIN. OKAY, UM THANKS, JOSH. AH! DASH STATE TARVER. ARE YOU DOING THIS EVENING? BUDDY STORY. OKAY, OKAY. SO HAVE THE STARTUP BUSINESS. ELIAS PEDAL PUB. START A BUSINESS FOR DID YOU GUYS GET THIS SLIDE? YOU GUYS MAY WANT TO SPEAK UP A BIT. YEAH, WE HAVE IT. OKAY? START UP BUSINESS ESSENTIALLY FOR THE DOWNTOWN AREA. BRING SOME ENTERTAINMENT. YEAH LET ME QUICKLY AND MY NAME IS ANDREW ROBINS. I'M THE CREATOR AND. OWNER OF MATEO'S GOURMET SALSA. NOT SURE IF YOU GUYS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THAT PRODUCT, BUT I'M THE I'M THE I'M THE GUY BEHIND THE WHOLE PROJECT AND REASON WHY I'M HERE IS IN 2000 AND NINE WHEN I DECIDED TO BRING MY FAMILY'S RECIPE TO THE MARKET. AS EXTREMELY PASSIONATE AND I RAN INTO DASH SHORTLY AFTER I STARTED MARKET STREET AND I WAS BRAND NEW. SO PASSIONATE BUT HARD TO GET IN THESE STORES AND I FINALLY GOT IN THE MARKET STREET AND I WAS SO EXCITED AND DASH SAW MY PASSION AND HELP ME BUILD THESE HUGE DISPLAYS. AND IT IS NORMALCY. IT WASN'T APPROVED THE KINDNESS OF HIS HEART. THE END.
THAT ACCOUNT IS LIKE ONE OF MY BIGGEST ONES. UM, I AM I BECAME NUMBER SEVEN IN THE COUNTRY OVERALL I GOT ACQUIRED LAST OCTOBER. I AM HERE TODAY BECAUSE DASHES MY VERY GOOD FRIEND AND I THINK THIS IS AN AWESOME IDEA TO SHOWCASE ALL OF THE AWESOME PLACES ALL THE AWESOME BUSINESSES. IN THE HISTORIC DISTRICT AND SHOWCASE AND HIGHLIGHT ALL THE FANCY THINGS THAT MAKE ANY HAS TO OFFER. THEIR CITIZENS AND I WAS ACTUALLY I LEARNED TO MAKE ANY FROM 2013. UNTIL LAST YEAR, ME AND MY WIFE MOVED TO PLANO, BUT I LIVED. I WAS A RESIDENT THERE FOR A LONG TIME AND CURRENTLY STILL A MEMBER AT STONEBRIDGE COUNTRY CLUB. I PLAYED GOLF THERE ALL THE TIME. BUT I AM THE FINANCE GUY BEHIND IT, UM, ALSO BACKING HIM ON HIS ENTREPRENEUR
[00:50:05]
BUSINESS IDEA, AND I THINK YOU GUYS SHOULD DEFINITELY GIVE THIS MAN AND HIS FAMILY A CHANCE LIKE THEY GAVE ME. SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. I HOPE YOU CONSIDER IT AND PASS IT THROUGH. THANK YOU, MA'AM. APPRECIATE IT. I LIKE THE STORY. HOW YOU GOT INVOLVED IN ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT IT. NO, I THINK THAT OBVIOUSLY THERE WOULD BE THERE'S ISSUES THAT HAVE TO BE RESOLVED. THERE HAVE TO BE AN ORDINANCE REVISION AND WHATNOT. SO THERE'S IT WON'T BE. IT'S NOT TO ME THAT WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE A INSTANT DECISION. SO WE JUST HAVE TO ADDRESS THE LAWS THAT ARE OUT THERE IN THE ORDINANCES THAT WE HAVE, AND I KNOW THAT I THINK THAT'S ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED AND LANGUAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN LOOKED AT. OKAY. AWESOME. THANK YOU GUYS, AND WE'LL WORK WITH YOUR TEAM THROUGH THAT. THANK YOU. IT'S A NICE, INNOVATIVE IDEA. ALRIGHT APPRECIATE YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU. I DON'T SHOW ANYONE ELSE. NO. CITIZEN COMMENTS. WE ALREADY DID THAT. SORRY COUNSEL, A[COUNCIL AND MANAGER COMMENTS]
MANAGER, COMMENTS START. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO RECOGNIZE OUR POLICE OFFICER, BECAUSE APPARENTLY HE'S SUCH A BADASS. WE ONLY NEED ONE. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. THAT'S IT ALL, HONEY MEANS THAT HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS GOING ON RIGHT NOW GRADUATED EVERYONE. I KNOW I'M SORRY. I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO HAVE EMPRESS COME UP AND TALK IN MY PLACE BECAUSE SHE HAS BEEN DOING SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB PLANNING JUNETEENTH, SO SHE'S GOING TO GIVE US A RUNDOWN OF THE LINEUP FOR THE DAY. I DO WANT TO MENTION THAT WE HAD A TREMENDOUS JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION HERE LAST YEAR IN MCKINNEY. COME ON THE MAYOR AND MOST OF THE COUNCIL MEMBERS HERE ATTENDED HAD A BLAST. PLEASE COME OUT AND ENJOY MCKINNEY AT ITS FINEST. IT'S NOT THIS SATURDAY. NOT THIS. BUT THE 19TH CORRECT 18. YES, MA'AM. I WAS JUST OCCUPYING YOUR WALK. WELL THANK YOU. COUNCILWOMAN FILTERS AGAIN. EMPRESS DRAIN CITY SECRETARY. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK AGAIN. IF JOSHUA POP UP THE EVENT FLYER FOR JUNETEENTH. SATURDAY JUNE 18TH IS THE SECOND ANNUAL CITYWIDE PRESENTATION OF THE JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION. UH JUST A LITTLE BIT OF A BACKSTORY. WE HAVE WORKED. FOR DECADES AND FOR FOLKS WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE CITY OF MCKINNEY FOR A VERY LONG TIME. MCKINNEY HAS A RICH TRADITION OF THE COMMUNITY CELEBRATING JUNETEENTH AS FAR AS THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY IN THE LEWISVILLE NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE RUN NEAR FINCH PARK AND OTHER AREAS IN 2000 AND 5, 2000 AND SIX THE PARKS AND RECREATION TOOK UP THAT PROGRAMMING TO OFFER JUNETEENTH ACTIVITIES. ON A SMALL SCALE, HUMBLE SCALE AND THAT EVENTUALLY TRANSLATED INTO PRESENTATIONS FOR THE CULTURAL MUSIC SERIES THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, SO THIS PROJECT. THIS EVENT IS LITERALLY A LABOR OF LOVE AND A LONG TIME IN THE MAKING. THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR AND WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT. LAST YEAR'S COUNCIL MEMBER, PHILLIPS ALLUDED TO THERE OVER 3800 PEOPLE WHO CAME OUT TO THIS EVENT THAT WAS PUT TOGETHER VERY QUICKLY WITH THE VERY TALENTED TEAM THAT IS REPRESENTATIVE OF SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF OUR CITY. SEVERAL ENGAGED CITIZENS ARE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS OF MISS BRADFORD IS HERE. OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER FANTASTIC PRESENTATION THAT WOULD BE INTO TOWN LAKE. THEY'RE GOING TO BE A LOT OF FOOD VENDORS, A LOT OF BEVERAGE VENDORS. WE THINK THAT YOU'RE GOING TO REALLY LOVE THIS LINEUP OF VENDORS THERE OVER 70 BUSINESS VENDORS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP TO ENGAGE WITH OUR CITIZENS. THIS IS GONNA BE FANTASTIC. THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY FROM KID FRIENDLY STUFF ALL THE WAY TO THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PERFORMANCES THAT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE. WITH SONG MUSIC DANCE AS A MISS BETH BENTLEY HAS PRESENTED HER WITH THE WITH THE LEGACY KEEPERS OF MCKINNEY. THEY ARE DOING SOME PHENOMENAL PROGRAMMING BEYOND THE PARK, SO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO COME OUT OVER THE COURSE OF THE FRIDAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY TO TAKE PART IN THESE EVENTS. SO AGAIN, WE JUST WANT TO CONTINUE TO ADD TO THE RICHNESS OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CULTURAL OFFERINGS THAT ARE PROVIDED. TO THE CITY OF MCKINNEY. WE ARE TOUTING THIS AS THE FLAGSHIP EVENT FOR JUNE 10TH IN COLLIN COUNTY AND WHAT WE HAVE SEEN AS FAR AS THE PARTICIPATION WE HAVE FOLKS THAT HAVE COME FROM NUMEROUS ZIP CODES AROUND THE CITY TO THIS FIRST EVENT IN THE SOCIAL MEDIA OFFERINGS THAT ARE OUT THERE, IT'S GETTING TAGGED FROM A LOT OF PLACES AND PEOPLE ARE GETTING EXCITED FROM AROUND THE CITY. SO WE'RE REALLY, UH, APPRECIATIVE OF THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THIS TO REFLECT THE CITY. MCKINNEY'S DIVERSITY AND[00:55:01]
RICHNESS OF HISTORY. YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. WE'LL SEE YOU THERE. WHAT EMPRESS'S IS MINIMIZING IS THE IMPACT OF LAST YEAR. IT WAS REALLY A PHENOMENAL EVENT SHE HAS SET THE STANDARD FOR JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION. HER AND THE TEAM BETH BENTLEY, DEBORAH JASON ALL THE WHOLE TIME. UM THIS IS NOW WE'RE SEEING A LOT OF OTHER CITIES WHO ARE TRYING TO MIMIC WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR AND WHICH IS A GREAT THING. WE WANT EVERYONE TO CELEBRATE. BUT THIS WILL BE THE JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION FOR THE DFW AREA, SO I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO COME OUT.JUST TWO OTHER THINGS I WANTED TO MENTION WANTED TO THANK, UM DR BUCHANAN FOR ORGANIZING THE SMILES CHARITY EVENT A COUPLE OF WEEKS LAST WEEK A WEEK AGO. AND SOME CHANGE. GREAT EVENT HONORING VETERANS WHO HAVE BEEN WOUNDED IN COMBAT, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO PAY OFF MORTGAGES FOR TWO FAMILIES, WHICH WAS REALLY REMARKABLE TO SEE SO JUST AN AWESOME EVENT. GLAD TO SEE THAT IT'S STILL GOING AND THEN ALSO JUST WANTED TO THANK THE COMMUNITY AND, UM, OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT BECAUSE WE HAD TACOS WITH COPS LAST WEEK, WHICH WAS AN AWESOME ALWAYS A GREAT COMMUNITY EVENT AS WELL. SO WE JUST WANT TO SAY TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU ALL DO AND ALWAYS TRYING TO ENGAGE WITH THE COMMUNITY HERE. SO THANK YOU. YEAH I JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT A COUPLE OF EVENTS BOTH AT THE CITY PUT ON AND OTHER GROUPS PUT ON BUT THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS THAT I'VE REALLY ENJOYED BUT LIBRARY PUT ON A DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE PROGRAMMING FOR ASIAN AMERICAN PACIFIC ISLANDERS HERITAGE DAY, WHICH WAS A GREAT EVENT OVER HERE AT THE LIBRARY. THE PARKS DEPARTMENT AND THE VETERANS. UHL DAY EVENT LAST WEEKEND, WHICH WAS GREAT. THE MAYOR SPOKE AT IT. AND IF YOU DIDN'T GET TO SEE IT AND TOO BAD AH, UM AND THEN THE TACOS WITH CALVES IS DOCTOR FELT HAS MENTIONED AND THEN LASTLY, THE TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION, SOME GREAT EVENTS BY THE CITY AND PROGRAMMING. SO APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT WENT INTO THAT. SOME NON CITY THINGS. THAT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PARTNERED WITH THE CITY FOR THE SERVED MCKINNEY EVENT. AND I BELIEVE IT WAS MENTIONED IN OUR WORK SESSION THIS MORNING, BUT IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP TO SERVE ON THE BORDER COMMISSION, YOU NEED TO DO THAT IN THE NEXT 10 DAYS. THE DEADLINE FOR THAT IS JUNE 17TH SO WE'LL HAVE LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES TO INTERVIEW AND TALK ABOUT THOSE, BUT I NEED TO GET YOUR REGISTRATION BY JUNE 17TH AND THEN LASTLY, I GOT INVITED TO A COMMUNITY BARBECUE. UM OVER THE WEEKEND AND HAD FUN AT THAT AND SUCH A JUST AN ORGANIC, UM, BRINGING TOGETHER OF THE COMMUNITY THAT I THOUGHT WAS REALLY INTERESTING AND REALLY WISH WE COULD DO THAT MORE OFTEN. UM AND I WILL MENTION ONE MORE THING ONE OF CHARLIE AND ICE FELLOW CONEY INS PASSED AWAY OVER THE WEEKEND GENTLEMAN NAMED HENRY MYRICK.
HENRY WAS A LIFELONG MCKINNEY RESIDENT. HE WAS A WORLD WAR TWO VETERAN. HE FOUGHT IN THE BATTLE OF IWO JIMA AND, UH, NOT NOT NOT TOO MANY OF THAT GENERATION LEFT. BUT HE WAS A GOOD MAN AND ALWAYS WOULD ALWAYS MAKE ME SMILE AND WE'LL CERTAINLY BE MISSED BY THE CORNERS GROUP. SO THANK YOU. I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING . OH I'VE COUPLE THINGS MR MAYOR OF BOTH WITH SPEAK TO THE HUMAN SPIRIT. THE FIRST ONE. THIS WAS A FEW WEEKS AGO. JASON HERNANDEZ , WHO'S OUT THERE, AND I WENT TO THE SURRENDER HIGH GRADUATION TOGETHER NOW SERENITY HIGH, AND THESE ARE MY LAYMAN'S WORDS ARE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA WHO ARE IN RECOVERY FROM PROBABLY DRUG OR ALCOHOL ABUSE AND REALLY CAN'T AND SHOULDN'T ASSIMILATE WITH THE GENERAL POPULATION IN OUR HIGH SCHOOL, SO THERE THEY GO THROUGH THEIR OWN PROGRAM, AND THAT'S NOT EASY, IS IT? YOU KNOW WHEN YOU WHEN YOU'RE AN ADDICT, AND MOST OF US HAVE HAD OUR LIVES TOUCHED BY ADDICTION, AND THEN YOU YOU, YOU PICK IT UP AND YOU GO GET YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. HERE'S WHAT BLEW ME AWAY. IT WAS ANNOUNCED AT THAT GRADUATION THAT THERE WAS A GIRL WHO GRADUATED SERENITY HIGH IN 2000 AND SIX NAMED ADRIAN. THE DAY BEFORE HERE IN 2022. THE DAY BEFORE THIS GRADUATION, SHE GOT HER PHD. THAT'S AMAZING. THE HUMAN BEINGS CAN ACCOMPLISH AMAZING THINGS. SECOND AMAZING THING AND. I'M SAD WITH ALL OF HIS BARBECUE TALK AND EVERYTHING. HE DIDN'T MENTION IT. BUT COUNCILMAN BELLER HAD A STROKE OF GENIUS IN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, AND HE'S ONLY ENTITLED TO A COUPLE OF YEARS. SO DON'T BET ON HIM TO HAVE ANOTHER ANYTIME SOON. BUT HE, UM , COMPELLED JASON HERNANDEZ TO BUY RODRIGUEZ, WHICH IS A SMALL CONVENIENCE STORE IN EAST MCKINNEY. IT'S LONG BEEN A BURR IN MY SADDLE THAT PEOPLE IN EAST MCKINNEY HAD A TOUGH TIME AND
[01:00:04]
I'LL DEFINE EAST BIKINIS EAST OF THE TRACKS. HAD A REALLY TOUGH TIME GETTING FRESH FOOD THAT THEY COULD WALK TO. NOW THAT'S COMING. IT'S NOT COMING TOMORROW , BUT IT'S COMING. AND UM JASON COULD USE YOUR PRAYERS AND HE COULD USE ANY SUPPORT THAT ANYONE HAS CAN OFFER HIM. BUT THIS IS THIS IS A MAGNIFICENT THING FROM MCKINNEY, TEXAS THAT IN A LONG STANDING FOOD DESERT, THERE'S FINALLY AN OPTION. THANK YOU, MR MAYOR. I WAS JUST ADD TO THE JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION COMING UP. NEXT SATURDAY ON JUNE 18TH. THERE ARE FREE SHUTTLE RIDES FOR SENIORS THAT WILL BE PROVIDED FROM MCKINNEY SENIOR RECREATION CENTER. AND THEN THERE'S A WHOLE LIST OF ACTIVITY SCHEDULES, FOOD TRUCK VENDORS, ETCETERA AND MCKINNEY, TEXAS DOT ORG FORWARD SLASH JUNETEENTH BUT ALSO LIKE TO, UM COMPLIMENT STAFF AND THE FOLKS THE ORGANIZER FOR THE TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION THIS PAST WEEKEND, IT WAS TERRIFIC. UM REALLY WAS A GREAT SHOWCASE OF MCKINNEY WEATHER. FRIDAY WASN'T GREAT, BUT THERE WERE STILL PEOPLE THAT TURNED OUT FOR THAT, AND SATURDAY WAS WAY BETTER IN TERMS OF WEATHER. BIG CROWDS. IT WAS A LOT OF FUN. UM MAYOR IS GOING TO COMMENT ON IT. DON'T WANT TO STEAL THE THUNDER. BUT I NEED TO COMMENT, TOO, BECAUSE SHE WORKS.SHE'S ONE OF OUR CITY STAFF. BUT AMY ROSENTHAL, THE DIRECTOR OF OUR PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, AND OUR MAIN STREET GROUP, IS LEAVING MCKINNEY AFTER 16 YEARS. SHE'S BEEN HERE FOR 16 YEARS.
SHE'S BEEN THE DIRECTOR SINCE 2014. SHE'S DONE AN AMAZING JOB. TOUGH LOSS FOR US. SHE'S MOVING ON TO SOME BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS AND A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR HER. WE WISH HER WELL. WE WILL MISS HER DEARLY. SHE'S SHE . THIS IS THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING BEFORE SHE DEPARTS, SO WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE SHE GOT A PUBLIC SHOUT OUT. I ALSO WANT TO RECOGNIZE MISS ABBY LOU. ABBY LOU HAS BEEN WITH OUR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR NEARLY 12 YEARS. HARD WORKER TAIWANESE DESCENT HAS HEADED UP AND DONE A LOT OF GOOD WORK WITH US AND OUR INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS. AN ABBEY IS ALSO MOVING ON AFTER NEARLY 12 YEARS, AND THESE ARE TWO REALLY STRONG PROFESSIONAL WOMEN THAT WILL BE LOSING THEIR WILL BE MOVING ON. AND WHILE THEY'VE DONE A GREAT JOB HERE, AND WE'LL MISS THEM UM WE WISH THEM THE BEST AND THEN FINALLY SERVED MCKINNEY LAST WEEK. I GOT A CHANCE TO GO THERE. WE HAVE A LOT OF CITY DEPARTMENTS THAT PARTICIPATE AT THE SERVE MCKINNEY. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT'S ORGANIZED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, THE FIRST ONE THEY'VE DONE IN THREE YEARS IN PERSON. AND IT WAS GREAT. IT WAS GREAT TO GET PEOPLE BACK TOGETHER. IT WAS AT THE COLLIN COLLEGE CONFERENCE CENTER. HE MADE A LOT OF OUR CITY DEPARTMENTS. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THEM THERE. BUT WE ALSO HAVE A LOT OF CITY. OTHER PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATIONS AND PEOPLE WITH BIG HEARTS, CITY NONPROFITS AND OTHERS LOOKING FOR FOLKS BASICALLY SHOWCASING. IT'S SORT OF LIKE A REVERSE JOB FAIR. IT'S A VOLUNTEER FAIR TO GO THERE AND FIGURE OUT HOW YOU CAN SERVE THE COMMUNITY. SO I REALLY ENJOYED STOPPING BY AND SEEING THAT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS IN PERSON, THAT'S ALL I HAVE, SIR.
RIGHT? UM NINA, YOU MENTIONED ALL THE EVENTS AND A LOT OF THEM WERE MENTIONED UP HERE AGAIN.
AND WHAT A GREAT COMMUNITY. WE HAVE TO HAVE SO MANY DIFFERENT UM FESTIVALS AND ART SHOWS AND MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES. JUST THE COMMUNITY THAT. ONE GEARED AROUND COMING TOGETHER AND CELEBRATING TOGETHER AND FELLOWSHIP AND IT'S AWESOME TO LIVE IN SUCH A COMMUNITY. BUT YOU ALSO MENTIONED THAT YOU'RE CAN I LEAVE THE HISTORIC BOARD AND I'M GOING TO ASK YOU TO REALLY RECONSIDER THAT, BECAUSE ALTHOUGH THE TOPIC OF THE ICE HOUSES. CERTAINLY WHEN I UNDERSTAND THERE'S A LOT OF A LOT OF SADNESS ABOUT AND CERTAINLY I UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION BUT OUR HISTORIC DOWNTOWN IS A JUST A. GEM OF LIGHT ON THE TOP OF THE HILL OF ANY COMMUNITY, AND IT'S BECAUSE OF THE WORK OF THAT BOARD IN GREAT PART, AND I WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT UM YOU KNOW A PROPERTY OR TO THAT? THAT YOU FELT LOST ON SPOKE TO THE BODY OF WORK AS IT DOESN'T. OUR DOWNTOWN IS WHAT IT IS. AGAIN IN GREAT PART BECAUSE OF THE WORK THAT THE HISTORIC BOARD DOES SO. AND ACTUALLY, REALLY, REALLY RECONSIDER THAT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. ELIZABETH REALTY HAS ALREADY LEFT. I THINK, BUT FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW SHE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE OR AT LEAST HER. I THINK SOMEONE ELSE'S WELL MENTIONED ABOUT SUPPORTING THAT THAT WAS APPROVED IN OUR CONSENT ITEMS. THERE IS GOING TO BE A STATUE OF BENJI AND MAINLY AND I PULLED UP THE OLD MOVIE AND WATCHED IT AND IT WAS REALLY FUN TO SEE ALL THE OLD THE SQUARE AND BENJI WALK ON SQUARE AND IDENTIFYING THE DIFFERENT PLACES AND IT WAS REALLY NEAT. UM.
[01:05:05]
TACOS WITH COPS. MCKINNEY THAT WAS A GREAT EVENT. TMR 26. I'M GOING TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MY WIFE, MAINLY WHO SPONSORED ONE OF THE STAGES AND ALSO A J. MITCHELL ETO AND DAVID RACHET WHO VOLUNTEERED AND WORKED THAT NOT JUST THE SOLID TWO DAYS FROM START TO FINISH, INCLUDING LOADING OUT EQUIPMENT AT ONE IN THE MORNING SATURDAY, BUT FOR THE WEEKS AND WEEKS AND WEEKS BEFORE GETTING SET UP WITH 20, PLUS BANDS ON THAT STAGE ALONE, AND ORGANIZING THAT, SO I WANT TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR INVOLVEMENT THERE. ALL THREE OF THOSE PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS PEOPLE DO SEE ENGAGED IN AND MY WIFE. OF COURSE, I HAVE A FRONT ROW SEAT TO THAT FOR 30 PLUS YEARS.UM CITY CHURCH. THERE WAS A. GRADUATION. IF YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT CITY CHURCH YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT CITY CHURCH. UH, ALL IN FAVOR. YOU'RE
