[00:10:02]
NOT ENOUGH. MY HUSBAND THINKS I'M LOUD ENOUGH. SO UM, BECAUSE WE'VE HAD WHICH IS A GREAT CHALLENGE TO HAVE. WE'VE HAD TO REFINE THE PROCESS OF REALLY LOOK AT HOW WE SELECT OUR CLASSES. SO TO THANK JULIE WILLIAMS AND BRIAN MAN'S I WHO ARE WHO HAVE CREATED A NEW PROCESS FOR US THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE ENGAGING IN THIS YEAR, SO EXCITED ABOUT THAT, AND WE'LL TALK MORE ABOUT THAT. THE LEADERSHIP OPEN HOUSE AND THEN LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, IS TIME TO BRAG ON OUR ORGANIZATION. WE EVERY FIVE YEARS GO UP FOR ACCREDITATION THROUGH THE U. S.CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, MUCH LIKE WHAT THE ABC RECENTLY WENT THROUGH ITS A VERY EXTENSIVE, EXHAUSTIVE PROCESS WHERE THEY LOOK AT NINE DIFFERENT AREAS, AND, UM, I FEEL LIKE IT'S MORE EXHAUSTIVE THAN OUR AUDIT THAT WE GO THROUGH EVERY YEAR BECAUSE THEY DO LOOK AT SO MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF OUR ORGANIZATION AND REQUIRE A LOT OF DOCUMENTATION AND ALL OF THOSE THINGS, AND WE GOT A GREAT NEWS. ACTUALLY, ON MY BIRTHDAY, I GOT THE PHONE CALL THAT WE WERE RE ACCREDITED AS A FIVE STAR CHAMBER, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION AND THERE'S ONLY 137 CHAMBERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY WHO HAVE RECEIVED THAT DESIGNATION, SO WE'RE REALLY PROUD TO SAY THAT WE ARE BENCHMARKED ACROSS ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND OUR, UM, COMING IN AT THE TOP, SO WITH THAT I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. WHAT ANY QUESTIONS SO REALLY, JUST A COMMENT ALSO, THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT COMMUNITY AWARDS CEREMONY . EVERYBODY THAT I TALKED TO JUST WALKED AWAY. EVERYBODY WALKS OUT OF THERE FEELING SO GOOD ABOUT MCKINNEY AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HERE. SO YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB. THANK YOU. TEAM EFFORT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS IN THIS NOVEL CAPITAL MCGILL. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING, MR CHAIRMAN REMEMBERS AND PRESIDENT TOKAR. THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE A QUICK UPDATE ON CDC. UM SEVERAL THINGS. AT THE BOARD MEETING LAST MONTH, THE BOARD APPROVED THREE PROJECT GRANTS ONE FOR THE FLOUR MILL, ONE FOR HER CRAIG CENTER FOR THE YARDS AND THEN THE THIRD FOR MCKINNEY. ROOTS ALSO HAD PUBLIC HEARINGS ON FIVE RETAIL DEVELOPMENT INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT APPLICANTS AND JUST AS A REMINDER THAT WAS A PROGRAM CREATED TO SUPPORT LANDMARK. RETAIL SPECIFICALLY BUSINESSES AND BUILDINGS IN THE DOWNTOWN CULTURAL DISTRICT, AND THEN AREAS GATEWAYS INTO THE CITY. THAT WOULD BE CANDIDATES FOR REDEVELOPMENT. THE BOARD HEARD APPLICATIONS FROM FIVE APPLICANTS THIS TIME, WHICH IS THE LARGEST NUMBER WE'VE HAD DURING ANY APPLICATION PERIOD. SO IT SEEMS THAT THAT GRANT PROGRAM IS, UM PICKING UP ADDITIONAL INTEREST. IT'S A MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS, EXTERIOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND FIRE SUPPRESSION. THOSE ARE THE ELIGIBLE ITEMS. UM, ARE. WE'RE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING PROJECT GRANT APPLICATIONS THIS MONTH THROUGH THE 31ST, SO ANY RECEIVED WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE BOARD IN APRIL. AND THEN THE LAST THING IS TOUPS WORK CONTINUES ON THE BREWERY PROJECT. THEY, UM. ARE CURRENTLY WORKING TO SECURE TEMPORARY CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY DURING APRIL IN ORDER TO START BREWING BEER ON THE NEW SITE, SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THAT PROJECT. FOLLOWING COMPLETE, SOMETIMES SOME I'M HAPPY TO STAY FOR ANY QUESTIONS. QUESTIONS. NO QUESTION. THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. VISIT MCKINNEY ERIN. MORNING MR CHAIRMAN, MR PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD ERIN WARNER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF VISIT MCKINNEY KICK OFF THIS MORNING GIVING YOU A QUICK UPDATE ON SOME OF OUR HOT TECH COLLECTIONS FOR THE YEAR TODAY BECAUSE THIS IS A AGAIN ASSIGNED TO THE HEALTH OF OUR HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM INDUSTRY. TODAY WE ARE STILL TRAINING AT 30% ABOVE WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR ON OUR COLLECTIONS. SO ARE BUT THEY ALSO ARE DOING VERY WELL.
REMINDER AS WELL LAST YEAR WHAT THIS IS TRENDING 30% ABOVE THE RECORD YEAR FOR US AND HOT TAX REVENUE, SO I'M REALLY PROUD OF THAT, AND WE'RE WORKING HARD TO TRY TO KEEP THAT TREND MOVING FORWARD AND THAT'S KIND OF WHERE THE ECONOMY TAKES US THERE. ALSO, UM OUR STRATEGIC SESSION JUST LAST MONTH WITH OUR BOARD SEVERAL STAKEHOLDERS AND WERE INCLUDED IN THIS. WE DID TAKE SOME TIME TO LOOK AT OUR MISSION AND VISION AND VISIT MCKINNEY AND THIS ART. WE HAD A MISSION STATEMENT THAT HADN'T BEEN LOOKED AT. AND, UM SEVERAL YEARS AND WE DID NOT HAVE A VISION STATEMENT, UM TODAY. SO TODAY, OUR NEW MISSION STATEMENT IS TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF MCKINNEY BY INVITING OTHERS TO VISIT, EXPLORE AND ENJOY THE MANY EXPERIENCES OUR CITY HAS TO
[00:15:01]
OFFER. OUR NEW VISION STATEMENT IS TO BE THE MOST WELCOMING JIM AND ALL OF TEXAS. AND SO THAT'S KIND OF WHAT WE'RE WORKING UNDER TODAY. AND, OF COURSE, A PIECE OF THAT KIND OF SUPPORTS WHAT YOU GUYS DO AND OUT IN THE COMMUNITY, AND SO WE'RE HAPPY TO PLAY A LITTLE ROLE IN THE ECONOMIC VITALITY. AND THE LAST THING I HAVE FOR YOU IS APRIL AND MAY ARE GOING TO BE REALLY BUSY IN MCKINNEY HOTELS ARE GOING TO BE FULL, OR RESTAURANTS ARE GONNA BE FULL. WE'VE GOT KICKING OFF APRIL WITH THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN. I'M STAYING AT THE GRAND HOTEL IN 25 ROOMS AND THEY'RE COMING TO LOOK AT OUR DOWNTOWN AND TALK WITH OUR STAFF THAT BRINGING SOME COUNCIL WITHIN AND SO WE'RE EXCITED TO WELCOME THEM UP HERE. AND THEN SHORTLY AFTER THAT, APRIL 17TH THROUGH THE 20TH IS IRISH WOLFHOUND DOG SHOW HERE IN MCKINNEY, AND WE'VE GOT SEVERAL OF THEIR MEMBERS STAYING IN OUR HOTELS. THEN APRIL 22ND AND MAIN STREET AND VISIT MCKINNEY OR PARTNERING ON AN INFLUENCER FAM TOUR FAMILIAR FAMILIARIZATION TOUR. SO WE'VE INVITED OVER 40 INFLUENCERS TO COME TO MCKINNEY WITH BASICALLY NO ITINERARY SET UP FOR THEM TO EXPERIENCE MCKINNEY AND A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT WAYS AND FROM THE FARMERS MARKET TO GETTING A PREVIEW OF WHAT TYPES IS GOING TO BE ALSO, THEY CAN GO OUT AND TELL THE REST OF THEIR MEMBERS ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING. MCKINNEY AH, THEN TAKING OFF MAY, ALSO IN APRIL'S ARTS AND BLOOMS, OUR MAIN STREET TEAMS NOT IN HERE, BUT THAT'S A PHENOMENAL COMMUNITY EVENT. UM THEN MAY WE'VE GOT COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA CONFERENCE ALSO BEING HOSTED AT THE GRAND HOTEL. THEY BOOKED OUT THE GRAND THE ENTIRE HOTEL AND THEN HAVE OVERFLOWED THE SHERATON. UM AND SO WE'LL BE HOSTING THEM ALL OVER THE COMMUNITY. THEN YOU GO STRAIGHT INTO THE BYRON NELSON AND NATIONAL TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK AND THEN THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE BYRON NELSON WE HAVE THE JUNIOR COLLEGE. WHICH THE ONE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP IN MCKINNEY SO WE ARE GOING TO SEE HOW GOOD WE ARE AT FLIPPING HOTEL ROOMS GETTING THEM IN. BUT IT'S GOING TO BE AN AWESOME APRIL MAY AND THAT'S THE KICKOFF WONDERFUL SUMMER SEASON, MCKINNEY'S STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. CONGRATULATIONS JOKE . YEAH. ALRIGHT EMMY, DC. COMMITTEE UPDATES START WITH FINANCE ANY UPDATES FROM THE FINANCE COMMUNITY. SO WE MET. UM WE MET WITH BARRY AND CAN ABOUT THE AIRPORT. WE LOOKED AT SOME POLICIES RELATED TO BUSINESS, REMEMBER MOVEMENT AND PROCUREMENT. AND WE, UH WE TALKED A BIT ABOUT THE OVERALL BUDGET GOING FORWARD SO AS A PRODUCTIVE SESSION. MARKETING WE HAD OUR MEETING AS WELL, UM, NOT ANYTHING REALLY TO REPORT. I THINK WE HAD SOME UPDATES IN THE PACKET. UM FROM SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT LOOK AND THE TEAM ARE WORKING ON. AND LUKE WILL ACTUALLY MAKING THE MARKETING OF THE PRESENTATION. YES. REAL ESTATE. THE REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE MET WEEK BEFORE LAST, UM REVIEWED ALL OF OUR HOLDINGS SPECIFICALLY, AND, UH, THERE ARE SOME ITEMS AND EXECUTIVE SESSION THAT UM SPECIFICS TO THOSE PROPERTIES THAT WE WILL THINK WE DISCUSS A LITTLE LIGHTER. GOVERNANCE WE ALSO MET AND FEW THINGS WE'RE WORKING ON A ON A, UH, BOARD HANDBOOK. IT'S BASICALLY ABOUT READY LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION NEEDED FROM THE SUBCOMMITTEE'S POTENTIALLY ON THE WORDING OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEES. SO WE'RE WORKING ON THAT. WE ALSO DISCUSSED SIMILAR TO FINANCE SOME OF THE POLICY ISSUES. IT RELATES TO THE BOARD ITSELF ON PROCUREMENT, AND, UH WE'LL BE DISCUSSING THAT IN EXECUTIVE SESSION. FROM A POLICY STANDPOINT. WE ALSO DISCUSSED THE, UH MR GRIMES BROUGHT UP THE JOINT MEETING. WE DISCUSSED THAT AS WELL. I'VE ALSO HAD A CONVERSATION WITH MR FULLER.THANK YOU, MAYOR. AS WELL AS DAVID KELLEY OF THE SERIES C TWO TO TALK ABOUT US FORMULATING THE THREE OF US FORMULATING A N AGENDA. AH FOR THAT MEETING BECAUSE IT'S REALLY MORE THAN JUST, UM UPDATING PROJECTS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON IS REALLY THE OVERARCHING. THING THAT WE TALKED ABOUT IN GOVERNANCE AND THAT I'VE TALKED WITH THE MAYOR ABOUT IS MEETING TO DISCUSS PRIORITIES IN A SENSE SO THAT WE CAN PRESENT A UNIFIED VISION. FOR THE CITY AS IT RELATES TO OUR THREE ENTITIES AND HOW WE WORK TOGETHER. AND OBVIOUSLY IT'S HELPFUL SINCE WERE APPOINTED BY THE COUNCIL TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE COUNCIL'S PRIORITIES ARE AND HOW THAT FITS IN WITH WHAT WE'RE DOING IS ABOARD. SO WE'RE GOING TO BE WORKING ON THAT AGENDA WILL IN THE WORLD GET TOGETHER WITH THE EXECUTIVE TEAM? PAUL CINDY AND PETER, AND THAT WAY, WE WILL
[00:20:06]
HAVE A PRODUCTIVE MEETING ON APRIL 25TH. 20 PROBABLY FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, SO. AND AT LEAST A COUPLE OF HOURS. SO ANYWAY, SO THAT'S WHAT WE DISCUSSED IN GOVERNMENTS AND, UH, THAT'S IT. REALLY AS FAR AS MY COMMENTS AS BOARD CHAIRMAN REALLY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD OTHER THAN THAT. SO I'M JUST GOING TO TURN THIS ON OVER TO PETER FOR OUR NEXT ITEM. THE[Consider/Discuss MEDC Monthly Organizational Report]
ORGANIZATIONAL REPORT 23 216. THANK YOU, MR CHAIRMAN. I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD TO THE ACTUAL ORGANIZATIONAL REPORT, BUT A COUPLE ANNOUNCEMENTS OF CC WE WELCOMING TO THE BOARD. SCOTT WOODRUFF. UM OUR NEW COUNCIL APPOINTED BOARD. ALTERNATE. UH AND. OR REALLY HAPPY. YOU'RE JOINING OUR BOARD HAPPIER FILLING IN TODAY SO WELL MORE TO COME ON THAT BUT WELCOME. AND THEN ALSO WE HAVE IN THE AUDIENCE WITH TODAY, OUR NEW PROJECT MANAGER, CAROLINE CAUSEY. CAROLINE JOINED US, UH, JUST A COUPLE WEEKS AGO ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO, AND WE'RE REALLY HAPPY THAT SHE'S ON OUR TEAM EXCITED FOR AH! FOR FINALLY ALMOST GETTING BACK TO POLICE STAFF. WE HAVE ONE MORE PROJECT MANAGER POSITION TO FILL AND THEN WE'LL BE BACK TO FULLY STAFFED. SO WE ALSO WELCOME SHE'S NOT HERE THIS MORNING, BUT EMILY BECK, OUR SPECIAL EVENTS AND OUR EVENTS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER AS WELL. SHE'S REALLY TAKEN, UM TAKING THE ORGANIZATION BY BY CHARGE. SHE'S SHE'S A GET IT DONE, GAL AND SHE'S REALLY ORGANIZING OUR EVENTS. CALENDAR SCHEDULES, EVERYTHING. SHE'S GRABBED THE BYRON NELSON AND RUN WITH IT, SO WE'RE REALLY HAPPY TO HAVE HER ON STAFF AND HELP US GET ORGANIZED. UH AND I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. QUESTIONS. DON'T . MARKETING UPDATE. 23 0217 LUKE. MORNING MR CHAIRMAN, MR.[MEDC Marketing Update]
PRESIDENT MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. MY NAME IS LUCA JARI. I AM THE MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER FOR THE AND WANTED TO PRESENT A COUPLE OF ITEMS. THIS MORNING. I'VE BEEN HERE NOW WITH THE D. C ABOUT A YEAR AND I'VE NOTICED IN THAT TIME THERE WAS TWO MAIN GAPS THAT I HAVE BEEN WORKING TO ADDRESS NUMBER ONE WAS ENGAGEMENT WITH THE CITY AND CITY LEADERSHIP OVERALL ACROSS THE BOARD. AND NUMBER TWO WAS BETTER, EFFECTIVE OUTBOUND CAMPAIGNS TO ATTRACT NEW BUSINESS TO MCKINNEY AND SO TODAY, I WANT TO SHOW YOU TWO INITIATIVES THAT WE ARE COVERING IN THAT AREA. DO YOU KNOW? LET ME SEE IF THIS CLICKERS WORKING HERE. THERE WE GO. PERFECT SO NUMBER ONE, UM AGAIN. LIKE PETER SAID. EMILY HAS REALLY HELPED US LEVEL UP OUR EVENTS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS THAT WILL IMPROVE THINGS WHEN IT COMES TO EVENTS, SPONSORSHIPS AND WILL CONTINUE TRADITIONAL MARKETING LIKE EMAIL CAMPAIGNS AND THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE HISTORICALLY, THAT HAVE WORKED, BUT I WANT TO SHOW YOU FIVE NEW CAMPAIGNS THAT WE ARE LAUNCHING DIGITALLY. UH TWO OF THESE ARE LIVE. ONE OF THEM IS IN PROGRESS AND THE OTHER. I'M SORRY. TWO OF THEM ARE ALIVE AND THE OTHER THREE ARE BEING BUILT RIGHT NOW. SO WHY MCKINNEY FOCUSES ON SAFETY AND SCHOOLS MEET MCKINNEY. THIS IS LIKE A VIDEO DRIVEN BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT . NO MCKINNEY. IT'S KIND OF LIKE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. ONE. OH, ONE EDUCATION FOR THE COMMUNITY. WHAT IS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT? WHAT DO WE DO? HOW WE FUNDED AND THEN WORK IN MCKINNEY, WHICH IS THE ONE I'M GOING TO SPOTLIGHT HERE. IN A MOMENT. THAT'S A WORKFORCE AND RECRUITING CAMPAIGN. AS LISA MENTIONED, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AS WELL. THE NUMBER ONE PAIN POINT THAT BUSINESSES TALK TO US ABOUT. IS THEIR TALENT AND RECRUITING EFFORTS. AND SO THIS IS OUR EXPRESSION OF FIXING THAT PROBLEM, AND THEN FINALLY CHOOSE MCKINNEY, WHICH WILL BE AN INDUSTRY FOCUSED CAMPAIGN. THIS IS OUR WHAT OUR WORK IN MCKINNEY CAMPAIGN LOOKS LIKE, LOGISTICALLY. THIS IS A LANDING PAGE THAT WE'VE DEVELOPED. A FUNNEL, IF YOU WILL, IF YOU UNDERSTANDING UNDERSTANDING OF DIGITAL MARKETING TERMS WHERE WE CAN HOST COMPANIES THAT ARE ACTIVELY AGGRESSIVELY HIRING RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE RAYTHEON AND MOSS ON THERE. THOSE ARE COMPANIES WE'VE TALKED TO THAT SAID YES, WHATEVER WE CAN DO, UH , TO BE A PART OF THIS. LET US KNOW. AND SO WE RUN OUT ABOUT CAMPAIGNS TO COMMUNITIES TRYING TO ATTRACT AND DIGITALLY POACH IF YOU WILL EMPLOYEES AND TALENTED WORKFORCE TO MCKINNEY AS AN EFFORT TO HELP OUR COMPANIES RECRUIT STAFF. UM AND THEN I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE SECOND INITIATIVE, WHICH IS TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY, PROMOTE THE DC AND ENGAGED CITY LEADERSHIP IS OUR MULTI CHANNEL VIDEO AND AUDIO PODCAST. THIS IS A UNIQUE ENDEAVOR THAT WE HAVE ESTABLISHED THANKS TO THE CREATIVITY OF PETER AND OUR OUR STAFF. AS WE MOVED INTO THE KAIZEN BUILDING, WE BUILT OUT A PODCAST STUDIO. UM AND I'M GOING TO KIND OF SHOW YOU SOME OF THE INS AND OUTS OF HOW THAT'S GOING TO WORK. AND IT WAS STANFORD QUESTIONS HERE IN A MOMENT, UM THIS IS A PODCASTING IS NOT THE MEDIUM OF THE FUTURE. IT'S THE MEDIUM OF RIGHT NOW. UM THERE WAS A REPORT RELEASED IN 2020 BY HUBSPOT THAT MORE AMERICANS LISTEN TO PODCASTS AND ATTENDED CHURCH IN THAT YEAR. AND SO THIS IS A MEDIUM THAT IF WE WANT TO[00:25:01]
BE IN FRONT OF PEOPLE, THIS IS SOMETHING WE NEED TO ENGAGE WITH. AND SO BOTTOM LEFT OF THIS SLIDE. YOU CAN KIND OF SEE A GRAPH OF HOW THIS WILL WORK. WE WILL HAVE A 20 TO 30 MINUTE LONG PODCAST EPISODE IS A ROUNDTABLE INTERVIEW STYLE WITH A MEMBER OF THE EC STAFFER BOARD IN A EITHER A BUSINESS OWNER, A MEMBER OF CITY LEADERSHIP CITY STAFF MEMBER. WE'VE COLLABORATED WITH THE CHAMBER. WE'RE WORKING ON INTERVIEWING ERIN FROM VISIT MCKINNEY. WE WILL THEN PUT THOSE VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE AND THE FULL AUDIO SYNDICATED ACROSS SPOTIFY. APPLE PODCAST STITCHER ALL THE AUDIO, UH, PLATFORMS AND THEN TAKE VIDEO CONTENT, SO EACH OF THESE INTERVIEWS WILL THEN PRODUCE FIVE OR SIX PIECES OF VIDEO CONTENT THAT CAN BE SPREAD ACROSS SOCIAL MEDIA. PROBABLY NOT TO TALK AS I PUT ON THERE, BECAUSE IT'S LIKELY GOING TO BE SHUT DOWN AND GOVERNOR ABBOTT IS NOT A BIG FAN, SO WE'RE NOT GOING TO USE TIKTOK. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS RELEVANT ON THERE. UM AND THEN THIS IS SOME EXAMPLES OF OUR BRANDING THAT YOU'RE GOING TO BEGIN TO SEE WITHIN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS AS WE LAUNCHED THE MCKINNEY MOMENTUM PODCAST. WE'VE INTERVIEWED THE MAYOR, WE'VE INTERVIEWED SEVERAL BUSINESS OWNERS. WE'VE GOT FOUR EPISODES IN THE CAN, AND WE ARE CONTINUING TO DEVELOP FILM THOSE RIGHT NOW WE'LL LIKELY BE BY WEEKLY. UM AND THEN AGAIN, AS YOU CAN SEE, IN THERE ARE GUESTS WILL INCLUDE CITY LEADERSHIP, NONPROFITS, CHAMBER STAFF, LOCAL COMPANY OWNERS. AND WHAT HAVE YOU AND SO I WILL GLADLY STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS EITHER ON THIS PODCAST OR ON THE WORKFORCE OUTBOUND DIGITAL CAMPAIGN. QUESTIONS QUESTIONS. THANK PODCAST THE PODCAST. TERRIFIC REALLY GOOD. LOOKS GREAT. GOOD WORK, PROGRESS JOB. 23 0218[Consider/Discuss MEDC Monthly KPI Metrics Report]
METRIC SUPPORT. MR CHAIRMAN AGAIN. OUR MONTHLY METRICS REPORT. WE'RE THIS IS FOR FEBRUARY. WE ALWAYS REPORT A MONTH IN ARREARS BECAUSE AGAIN WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH RIGHT NOW, SO YOU CAN SEE FROM AN INVESTMENT PERSPECTIVE WHERE WE'RE STILL WE'RE ALREADY DOING A LITTLE BIT. HEAD OF THE CURVE FROM WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR ON SIGN INVESTMENT. WE HAVE 49 MILLION AND CONTRACTS OUT THAT ARE PENDING EXECUTION. UM, AND A $6 MILLION CURRENTLY SIGNED CONTRACTS. SO ARE WE KICKED OFF THE YEAR WE FINALLY, UH, HAD OUR FIRST OFFICIAL WIN OF THE YEAR WITH THE $6 MILLION PROJECT THAT WE APPROVED LAST MONTH, AND THEY HAVE EXECUTED THAT CONTRACT. BUT ONCE WE GET THOSE OTHER ONES EXECUTED, WILL JUMP UP PAST 50 MILLION TO START OUT THE YEAR, WHICH IS A GREAT START. UM WE'VE CLEANED UP MICHAEL TALLIES BUT WEREN'T GONNA REALLY HARD WITHIN OUR SALESFORCE PIPELINE TO LOOK AT CLEANING UP PROJECTS IN THERE, SO WE'VE WE DO A YEARLY INVENTORY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. WE DO AN INVENTORY. WE GO BACK AND LOOK AT WHAT PROJECTS HAVE BEEN KIND OF IN THE PIPELINE FOR A LITTLE BIT. WE TRY TO FOLLOW UP WITH EITHER THE BROKER THE COMPANY OR ANYONE TO SEE IF THAT'S STILL A VIABLE PROJECT, AND WE HAVE CLEANSED A FEW OUT OF THE PIPELINE JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE NOT HANGING ON TO THINGS THAT THAT HAVE GONE EITHER SILENT, HONEST, THERE'S ALWAYS OPPORTUNITY FOR PROJECTS TO COME BACK ONCE WE'VE REMOVED THEM OUT OF THE PIPELINE, BUT, UH, WE THINK A REALISTIC LOOK AT OUR CURRENT PROJECT PIPELINE IS RIGHT AROUND 18 PROJECTS. I THINK WE ACTUALLY GOT A COUPLE IN THIS MONTH, SO I THINK IT'S BACK UP TO OVER 20. UM EMAILS MARK MARTIN. OUR EMAIL MARKETING RATE IS RIGHT AROUND WHERE WE WANT TO BE COULD. WANT TO GET A COUPLE OF PERCENTAGE POINTS HIGHER, BUT WE'RE DOING GOOD ON THAT. AGAIN WHERE WE'RE ALWAYS EXCEEDING ON THE WEBSITE VISITOR TRAFFIC, WHICH MEANS WE'RE REACHING PEOPLE AND THEY'RE SEEKING INFORMATION. AND THEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS AND PART WHERE WE NEED TO BE FOR Q ONE. QUESTIONS. BUT. I DO HAVE QUESTIONS. QUESTION HOW WE ARE TRENDING ON THE B R E RIGHT NOW. IT LOOKS LIKE 6 60 TARGET. AH BERRY VISITS WERE ON TRACK. UM IF WE IF WE CAN DO 3 TO 5 A MONTH WE EASILY MEET OUR CONTACT. JANUARY IS USUALLY A HARD MONTH FOR B R E. BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE COMING BACK FROM VACATIONS. IT'S THE START OF THE YEAR. PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO MEET THEIR USUALLY EITHER IN THEIR FIRST PART OF THE BUDGET CYCLE, DEPENDING ON HOW THEIR FISCAL YEAR RUNS, UM AND JUST THE HOLIDAY TIME. GETTING KIDS BACK TO S CYANOTIC. QUESTIONS. NEXT IS REGULAR AGENDA. 23 0 TO 19 CONSIDERED DISCUSSED START ON[Consider/Discuss/Act on the January 2023 Financials]
JANUARY 2023 FINANCIALS. GOOD MORNING CHANCE. MILLER, ACCOUNTING MANAGER. LET'S GO AHEAD. ALRIGHT, WE'RE GONNA START. WE'RE GONNA GO BACK A FEW MONTHS FOR DISCUSSING THE MONTH[00:30:03]
OF JANUARY TODAY. THIS IS OUR FOURTH MONTH OF OUR FISCAL YEAR. JANUARY WE HAD A CLOSE TO 1.85 MILLION AND REVENUE. THE MAJORITY OF THAT WAS SALES TAX REVENUE HOUSE WE GO DOWN EXPENSES WE HAVE HAD 100 98,000 AND OPERATIONAL EXPENSES. 753,000 AND PROJECT EXPENSES AND 313,000 AND NON DEPARTMENTAL EXPENSES. TOTAL EXPENSES FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY WAS 1.265 MILLION. I'M GONNA GO AHEAD AND MOVE ON TO SO TAX, OKAY? SO THE SALES TAX THAT WE COLLECTED IN JANUARY APPLIES TO THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER IS TWO MONTHS AWAY. WE SAW 6.4% INCREASE THAT BRINGS OUR YEAR TODAY TO INCREASE UP TO 9.9% YOU CAN SEE HOW HER SISTER CITIES THEN ALLEN HAD A 1.1% INCREASE. FIRST GO HAD A 9.7% INCREASE IN PLANO HAD A 7.8% INCREASE. THESE NUMBERS ARE THEY FACTOR IN. THEY INCLUDE AUDIT COLLECTIONS. THEY INCLUDE PRIOR PERIOD COLLECTIONS AND ALL THAT STUFF. SO WHEN YOU FACTOR ALL THAT OUT, OUR TRUE INCREASE FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER WAS A 5% INCREASE. AND IF I'M THE FRISCO AND PLANO WERE PRETTY ACCURATE WITH THEIR NUMBERS, BUT ALLEN ACTUALLY SAW 1% DECREASE WHEN YOU FACTOR OUT NEUROTIC COLLECTIONS AND, UM, PROPERTY COLLECTIONS AND ALL THAT. AND SAYING THAT IF WE'RE LOOKING AT OUR PAST 12 MONTHS, WE ARE STILL ABOVE 10% BUT WE'RE ABOUT TO BE THE FIRST TIME WE DID BELOW 12 MONTH ROLLING AVERAGE BELOW 10% OF SALES TAX, SO JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND ABOUT TO TALK ABOUT THE INDUSTRY REPORT, WHICH IS HELPFUL TO KIND OF SEE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT I'M TALKING ABOUT AND SEE FOR RETAIL TRADE.WE HAVE A 3% INCREASE FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY. THIS IS OUR THIRD STRAIGHT MONTH OF BELOW 5% INCREASES. BEFORE THAT. WE WERE SEEING DOUBLE DIGIT INCREASES IN RETAIL TRADE. THIS IS, UM THIS IS A CONSISTENT TREND. AT THIS POINT. WE'LL SEE YOU NEXT MONTH IS OUR DECEMBER COLLECTIONS, WHICH IS ONE OF OUR BIGGEST MONTHS OF THE YEAR. SO THAT'S AN IMPORTANT MONTH TO PLAY INTO THAT. SO WE HAD NEGATIVES FOR WHOLESALE TRADE AND UTILITIES. BUT IF I'M LOOKING AT LAST MONTH FOR WHOLESALE TRADE, 24% INCREASE AND UTILITIES WE SAW 22% INCREASE, SO I'M NOT TOO CONCERNED ABOUT THAT. SOME OF THOSE HAVEN'T FLOWED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. UM THE MAIN THING I LOOK AT IS THAT RETAIL TRADE WITHOUT BEING THREE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS UNDERNEATH 5. UM MOVING FORWARD THAT 3% INCREASE OUR SALES TAX INCREASED RATE IS A GOOD PLANNING TOOL AT THIS POINT , AND WE'LL JUST SEE HOW THE REST OF THE YEAR PLAYS. I'LL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS AT THIS TIME. WE ALSO BECOMING THE ALL I THINK NEXT WEEK HAVE A MEETING WITH PETER TALLY AND DINA TO GO OVER THE BUDGET FOR NEXT YEAR, AND SO WE'LL BE BRINGING THAT TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS ALREADY TO DO SO. OKAY, QUESTIONS. QUESTIONS. YES, SIR.
WHAT IS OUR WHAT DID WE BUDGET FOR THE INCREASE IN RETAIL TRADE FOR THE YEAR SO WE DON'T BUDGET BY INDUSTRY. WE BUDGET AS AS THE WHOLE ALL THE CATEGORIES COMBINED, AND WE BUDGETED AROUND A 6% INCREASE. AND SO IF I'M LOOKING AT YOUR TODAY WE'RE AT 9.9. SO WE'RE STILL GOING TO BE ABOVE WHAT WE ARE. WE'RE TRAINING ABOVE BUDGET AT THIS POINT, UM, LIKE I SAID NEXT MONTH IS OUR BIGGEST SALES TAX COLLECTION MONTH. BEING DECEMBER . SO THAT'S GONNA BE OUR BIGGEST. TELL LOTS OF THESE MONTHS. YOU KNOW, THIS MONTH IS ONE OF OUR LOWER ONES. SO UM, EACH MONTH AFFECTS THAT TOTAL BUDGET AMOUNT DIFFERENTLY ABOVE BUDGET BUT TRENDING TO GO TOWARDS BUDGET. CORRECT CORRECT BUDGET IF WE'RE LOOKING AT WHAT FOR SURE MIRROR. WE'RE STILL ABOVE THAT. BUT UM, IN THE PRIOR YEARS, WE'VE HAD A SIGNIFICANT ACCESS THEMSELVES TAX REVENUE THAT LOOKS TO BE DOING THE LYING DOWN. FOR THIS FACILITY. YOU YOU PLAN ON NOVEMBER BEING LOW EVER EVERY YEAR IN COMPARISON TO OTHER MONTHS? YES. SO IF I'M LOOKING AT UM YOU CAN SEE THAT FROM MCKINNEY AND THE BOTTOM LEFT THAT WE RECEIVED 7.15 MILLION, AND THAT'S THE CITY AS A WHOLE. THAT'S THAT GETS, YOU KNOW, BROUGHT OUT BETWEEN A B C. C. D C IN THE CITY FOR DECEMBER , WE MIGHT SEE 9 TO 11 MILLION JUST BECAUSE THAT'S A BIGGER MONTH OF SALES TAX COLLECTIONS.
SO UM, AND SAYING THAT YOU KNOW THEY AFFECT OUR WHAT OUR BUDGET IS DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE IT'S A BIGGER MONTH THAT WE HAVE A 2% INCREASE NEXT MONTH THAT MIGHT AFFECT A LOT DIFFERENTLY THAN WE HAD A 10% INCREASE THIS MONTH. IT JUST DEPENDS ON THAT. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS.
ENTERTAIN A MOTION. THANK YOU MOVED. THIS REPORT IS SUBMITTED. SECOND, THAT'S AGAIN. GOT THE BUTTON. THERE WE GO. MOTION BY MR HELMSLEY SECONDHAND MR KEANE EXTROVERTS. PARIS IS. THE NEXT

COMMENTS. LET'S SKIP THAT ONE TALK RIGHT? FIRST WE HAVE PUBLIC COMMENTS REGARDING MATTERS THAT ARE NOT ON THE AGENDA. IS THERE ANYBODY THAT WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS THE BOARD ON ANY MATTERS
[BOARD COMMENTS]
THAT HAVE NOT BEEN DISCUSSED? NEXT WE HAVE BOARD COMMENTS AND BOARD MEMBERS ARE THE ONLY COMMENT I HAVE. AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE PLACE TO TALK ABOUT JULIE AND I DID MEET WITH MICHAEL TALLY THIS WEEK, AND WE DISCUSSED AS WE DISCUSSED IN OUR RETREAT. UM HOW THE BOARD OR HOW STAFF PUT ON LEADS AND PROJECTS AND HOW THOSE KIND OF FLOW THROUGH THAT. FLOW THROUGH THE PROCESS, AND SO WE HAD A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THAT AGAIN. UM LEADS COME IN ORGANICALLY. THEY COME IN WHETHER IT'S PHONE CALLS EMAILS. THAT'S WHERE STUFF THEY COME IN AS A LEAD ONCE THEY BECOME A VIABLE THING WHERE STAFF HAS THE ABILITY TO ACTUALLY ACT ON THAT. THAT'S WHEN IT GOES INTO THE PROJECT. STATUS. UM AND AGAIN AS WE ALL KNOW, AS WE HAVE BEEN IN DIFFERENT THINGS PROJECTS SOMETIMES PROJECTS TAKE LONGER. ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. AND SO THE DURATION OF THOSE DOES FLUCTUATE . AND SO WE CAN OF, UM, WE WENT IN, UM, CHALLENGE MICHAEL TOOK WHAT'S A GOOD, UM WAY THAT HE CAN PRESENT THE PROJECTS IN A VERY CONCISE AND EASY MATTER FOR US TO ALL UNDERSTAND AS FAR AS HOW MANY WE HAVE IN KIND OF WHAT'S THE AVERAGE WHAT'S THE AVERAGE PROJECT SIZE? AND THEN WHAT'S THE AVERAGE DURATION AGAIN? SO WE JUST CAN HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF OBVIOUSLY NEW ONES ARE COMING IN. HOW LONG THEY'RE STAYING ON IN THE SIZE SO THAT WE CAN THEN REPORT ACCURATELY TO THE COMMUNITY. WHEN PEOPLE ASK, UM THE GREAT PROJECTS THAT ARE HAPPENING AT THE D. C WE CAN HAVE SOME SORT OF EASY, CONCISE RESPONSE. VERY GOOD. SO I JUST WANTED JUST WANTED TO, UM, KIND OF COME BACK TO THAT, BECAUSE THAT WAS A TASK THAT JULIE AND I HAD OUT OF MY RETREAT. THAT'S GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS GOOD FOR US ALL TO BE CONSISTENT, AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO BE COMMUNICATING RIGHT? ANYBODY ELSE? ALL RIGHT,[EXECUTIVE SESSION]
