REPORT CHANCE MILLER. GOOD MORNING CHANCE. MILLER COUNTY MANAGER WILL BE GOING OVER FEBRUARY, WHICH IS OUR FIFTH MONTH OF FISCAL YEAR 2023. GOING DOWN OUR INCOME STATEMENT FOR REVENUES. WE HAD A LITTLE OVER $2.3 MILLION OF REVENUE. THIS CONSISTED OF 2.2 MILLION IN SALES, TAX REVENUE AND 144 145,000 OF INTEREST INCOME. MOVING DOWN TO EXPENSES. WE SAW 116,000 OPERATIONAL EXPENSES. UM 81,000 PROJECT EXPENSES AND 1.1 MILLION OR CLOSE TO 1.2 MILLION NON DEPARTMENTAL EXPENSES, SO THE TOTAL FOR FEBRUARY WAS ALMOST 1.4 MILLION. MOVING ON TO GET TO THE SOURCE TAX PAGE. ALL RIGHT. DO YOU MIND MAKING THAT TAD BIGGER? I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO THAT. ALRIGHT SO COLLECTIONS FOR FEBRUARY A PASTA DECEMBER SALES TAX, WHICH IS OUR[00:05:06]
BIGGEST MONTH OF OUR FISCAL YEAR , WE SAW 7.8% INCREASE. ALAN SOL 33.6% INCREASE FRISCO SOLVE 14% INCREASE IN PLANO SAW 7.9% INCREASE. I WILL NOTE THAT ALAN'S WAS DUE TO AUDIT COLLECTIONS THERE TRULY INCREASE FOR THIS 0.5 POINT, 5. PLAYING THOSE TRUE INCREASE FOR THIS MONTH WAS 4.9% FRISCO'S AND MCKINNEY'S AND OURS ARE ACCURATE WITH THE NUMBERS THEY'RE SHOWING UP THERE. OUR YEAR TODAY. IF WE LOOK DOWN A LITTLE BIT LOWER, IT SHOWS WE HAVE A 9.4% SO FAR THROUGH THE YEAR WE BUDGET AROUND 5 TO 6% INCREASE, UM, TO THOSE MONTHS ARE INCLUDED IN OUR PRIOR FISCAL YEARS ARE TRUE. 2023 INCREASE TODAY IS AROUND 7% SO WE'RE STILL TRAINING ABOUT BUDGET AT THIS POINT. I WILL NOTE THAT OUR BIGGEST INDUSTRY IS RETAIL TRADE, AND THIS IS OUR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH TO BE UNDER 7% INCREASE. WE'RE LOOKING AT THE 12 MONTHS, BUT BEFORE THAT, WE'RE A DOUBLE DIGIT INCREASES EVERY MONTH, SO THAT IS A GOOD SIGNAL MOVING FORWARD OF WHAT IT MIGHT BE LOOKING LIKE AROUND THAT 456% INCREASES ON AN ANNUAL BASIS, BUT WE'LL HAVE TO KEEP MONITORING AS WE MOVE FORWARD. AND I'LL BE HAPPY TO STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. YOU WON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS THE REPORTS IN THE CHICKS KNOW WERE ATTACHED TO THE AGENDA THAT WAS SENT OUT ANYONE HAVE ANY. YOU MIGHT HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. THANK YOU YOUR CHANGE. Q WILL GO. DON'T 23-19 197 SALES TAX REDUCTION. FORD AND LAYS ON REPORTS. THIS PAST MONTH. OF COURSE, WE HAD AN AWESOME MONTH, UM, FINISHING OUT FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH FOR ANYONE THAT WASN'T ABLE TO ATTEND. AMBASSADOR RON KIRK, FORMER MAYOR OF CITY OF DALLAS. CLOSED OUT OUR LECTURE SERIES. IT WAS A WELL ATTENDED BEING A VERY PERSONAL EVENT, ABLE TO JUST HAVE THAT FIRESIDE CHAT WITH HIM . HE SHARED JUST ABOUT HIS HISTORY, HIS HISTORY AND LEADERSHIP. HIS UPBRINGING WAS REALLY, REALLY, UH, REALLY MOVED ME AND SO SOME OF HIS WORDS THAT HE SHOULD SAY, BUT IT WAS AWESOME. VERY, VERY GREAT. OF COURSE, WE HAD THE MILLHOUSE ART BEST ST PATRICK'S DAY BEER WALK. CHESTNUT SQUARE ME TALK ABOUT THE CHESTNUT SQUARE BAR WARS. IT WAS A WONDERFUL COLD EVENT. BUT THERE WAS SOME REALLY, REALLY GREAT. I WANT TO COMPLIMENT JOY AND HER TEAM FOR THEIR PRESENTATION. AT THE BAR WARS ARE AMAZING MAYOR AND HIS JUDGING WAS REALLY GOOD, BUT IT WAS A SMALLER TENANTS, OF COURSE, LIKE, SAY, THE WEATHER WAS KIND OF COOL, SO IT WASN'T AS LARGE AS WE TYPICALLY SEE. BUT I HOPE THAT THOSE THAT ATTENDED HAD AN AWESOME TIME YOU WERE THERE, DAVID RACHET. YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS? JUST A FANTASTIC EVENT AS ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO IT EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'M JUST GLAD TO SEE THEY'RE GETTING THE FOLKS OUT THERE TO SEE THE GREAT THING THAT THEY'RE DOING OUT THERE. AWESOME. SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE THINGS THAT WE SUPPORTED WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MCKINNEY? OF COURSE, WE HAVE THE COMMUNITY AWARDS EVENT WHERE WE RECOGNIZED BUT TEMPLE IN THE MCKINNEY ROOTS AS OUR QUALITY OF LIFE AWARD RECIPIENTS. I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO RICE CHAIR DAVID KELLEY FOR STANDING IN MY ABSENCE AND HEARD YOU HAD DID AN AWESOME JOB. SO THE PICTURES AND SEE THAT I MISSED A REALLY, REALLY GREAT EVENT. SO AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THE COMMUNITY AND YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND WHAT WE DO AND ACKNOWLEDGING SOME OF THE GREAT LEADERS THAT WE HAVE IN THE CITY OF MCKINNEY. THEN WE ALSO HAD THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING. 14TH.SO AGAIN HAD SOME REALLY GREAT THINGS THAT HAPPENED. THE ONLY ONE ATTEND. I DIDN'T ATTEND THAT EVENT DIDN'T WANT TO ATTEND. YOU WON'T HAVE ANY COMMENTS ABOUT JUST A GREAT MEETING, AND, UM A LOT OF GREAT. UM. INPUT FROM OUR SPEAKER GAVE US A LOT OF, UM, PROVOCATIVE THOUGHT THINGS THAT WE CAN CONSIDER GOING FORWARD AND ALWAYS VERY APPRECIATIVE OF THE CHAMBER AND THE WORK THAT THEY DO WITHIN THE CITY. MADAM CHAIR. I WASN'T THERE, BUT I LEARNED THAT, UM, OUR VERY OWN DAVID RACHET WAS AWARDED, UM, CHAMBER AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR? YES AT THE AT THE ANNUAL MEETING . CONGRATULATIONS THANK YOU BEING AN AMBASSADOR. PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THE WORK THAT GOES WITH THAT. SO THANK YOU, DAVID, BECAUSE THOSE CHAMBER MEETINGS AND THAT ONE IN PARTICULAR WAS SO INFORMATIVE. I REALLY ENJOYED IT. AND CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU. AMBASSADOR PROGRAM IS FANTASTIC. IT JUST IT ALLOWS ME TO GET OUT THERE AND SEE THE NEW FOLKS THAT ARE COMING TO
[00:10:05]
MCKINNEY OR THE BUSINESS THAT HAS BEEN A BIKINI THAT DECIDED TO JOIN THE CHAMBER AND GET CONNECTED, SO IT'S JUST A PLEASURE TO HELP THEM GET ENGAGED WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.THANK YOU. JOHN AND YOU ATTEND. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMMENTS ON AS USUAL? IT WAS A GREAT MEETING. I THOUGHT SPEAKER REALLY MADE A VALID POINT ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT EDUCATION IS. THIS COMMUNITY.
HIS HIS WORDS WERE PRETTY SCARY IF YOU LISTEN VERY ENLIGHTENING. THANK YOU. AGAIN JUST THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE THAT BEYOND SITTING HERE AT THESE MEETINGS, WE REALLY ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY , SO I REALLY APPRECIATE THE BOARD AND WHAT YOU DO OUTSIDE OF JUST THIS MEETING THAT WE ATTEND ONCE A MONTH. SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK. WE WILL HAVE THE CITY OF MCKINNEY, MR GRIMES. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR, MADAM PRESIDENT. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. MY NAME IS PAUL GRAHAM CITY MANAGER. COUPLE OF THINGS TO SHARE WITH YOU THIS MORNING. WE HAVE, OF COURSE, A LOT OF ACTIVITY, WHICH YOU'RE ALL FAMILIAR WITH RESPECT WITH RESPECT TO MCKINNEY NATIONAL AIRPORT. WE HAVE A BOND ELECTION . WE HAVE AN INFORMATIONAL FLYER INFORMATIONAL PIECE THAT'S GOING TO BE GOING OUT TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD IN THE COMMUNITY. IT'S SORT OF A VOTER INFORMATION GUIDE, SO TO SPEAK, PROVIDING FACTUAL INFORMATION. NO ADVOCACY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT, BUT CERTAINLY PROVIDING FACTUAL INFORMATION AND THAT WILL BE ENTERING MAILBOXES IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. TONIGHT RELATED TO THAT TONIGHT WE ARE HAVING THE FIRST OF TWO PRELIMINARY ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT MEETINGS. UH TONIGHT'S IS ON THE EAST SIDE. IT'S AN OLD SETTLERS.
IT'S AT SIX PM AT OLD SETTLERS, AND THAT'S FOR ANYBODY WHO'S INTERESTED IN WHAT THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT IS SHOWING. THIS IS A PRELIMINARY HASN'T BEEN FINALIZED YET, BUT WE DON'T ANTICIPATE MAJOR CHANGES. IT'S JUST PART OF THAT PROCESS OF FINALIZING IT SO THINGS HAVING TO DO WITH NOISE AND ENVIRONMENT AND TRAFFIC AND ALL THOSE TYPES OF THINGS THAT IS GOING TO BE DISCUSSED. TONIGHT THEY'LL HAVE BOARDS. THERE ARE ENGINEERING FOLKS WILL BE THERE WITH BOARDS ON EASELS AND BUT YOU CAN STOP BY AND HAVE YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED. THERE WILL BE A PRESENTATION AT 6 15, BUT PLENTY OF TIME FOR Q AND A AND BACK AND FORTH WITH THE FOLKS THERE TO GET QUESTIONS ANSWERED. THE NEXT ONE IS SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19TH, AND THAT WILL BE ON THE WEST SIDE OF MCKINNEY COCKREL MIDDLE SCHOOL, SO IF YOU CAN'T MAKE TONIGHT, YOU CAN CERTAINLY MAKE THAT ONE ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT, APRIL 19TH AGAIN THE SAME TIME 68 PM WITH THE PRESENTATION AT 6 15. UM WE ARE AS YOU MAYBE AWARE WE'RE WORKING ON SCHEDULING A JOINT MEETING WITH THE CITY, THE IMMEDIACY AND THE CDC. RIGHT NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT APRIL 25TH. WE DID HAVE A COUPLE WE HAD ANOTHER MEETING SCHEDULED FOR THAT NIGHT. WE ACTUALLY DO HAVE A P AND Z AT SIX P.M. SO I THINK WE'RE GOING TO MOVE THE OTHER ONE. WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO AIM FOR APRIL 25TH, BUT KEEP AN EYE ON THAT FOR FULL FINALIZE THAT IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. UM THE CITY COUNCIL MET IN THIS ROOM LAST FRIDAY TO THE SECOND OF ITS STRATEGIC GOAL SETTING MEETINGS. THIS IS THEIR PRIORITIZATION SESSION. THIS IS WHERE WE MET ON FEBRUARY 17TH AND THE IDENTIFIED THEIR GOALS THAT THEY WANT US TO KIND OF FOCUS ON. BUT ALSO THIS THIS MEETING WAS OKAY. WHAT'S THE RELATIVE PRIORITY OF THOSE, SO IT'S VERY HELPFUL FOR BOTH THE COUNCIL AND STAFF TO KNOW WHAT THOSE RELATIVE PRIORITIES ARE. AS WE MOVE FORWARD. NOW, STAFF IS BEAVERING AWAY, PREPARING THE DETAILS IN TERMS OF MEASURABLE, UM, GOALS THAT THEY HAVE TO BE SMART. THEY HAVE TO BE SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC AND TIMELY. SO WE'RE PUTTING THAT TOGETHER. THERE WILL BE HUNDREDS OF THOSE, AND THEN WE'LL BRING IT BACK TO THE COUNCIL ADOPTED IN MAY, AND THEN WE WILL BE OFF TO THE RACES FOR THE BUDGET PREPARATION AND PREPARATION FOR A PROPOSAL. IN, UM AUGUST. SO WITH THAT WE ALSO HAVE JUST AS A REMINDER.
ELDORADO PARKWAY EAST OF CUSTER ROAD, CLOSE TO WHERE I LIVE. BEGINNING NEXT WEEK, MARCH 27TH UNTIL JULY. THERE'S GONNA BE A FULL CLOSURE OF ELDORADO SO IT WILL BE FULLY CLOSED RIGHT NOW.
ONLY THE WESTBOUND LANES ARE OPEN, BUT THOSE WILL BE CLOSED. THEY'RE DOING THAT BECAUSE THERE'S SOME ABUTMENT WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AS PART OF THE WIDENING PROJECT. WHEN WE LOOKED AT THE BRIDGE, WE SAW SOME ABUNDANT WORK NEEDS TO BE SHORT UP. IF YOU WILL. AND SO HDB IS DOING THAT THEY'RE DOING. THEY'RE COLLABORATING WITH US AND DOING THE ROADWORK. THEY'RE ALSO GOING TO DO THAT. WE'RE PAYING FOR THAT, BUT THEY'RE DOING IT SO YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CONTRACTOR ON THE SITE. AND IT WILL BE DONE IN TIME FOR THE OPENING OF HCB. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS IS TO CLOSE THE ROAD. MAKE SURE WE CAN GET THE WORK DONE. AND THEN WHEN HDB OPENS THE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DAY TRIPS OR TRAFFIC DAILY TRIPS TO THE G B, WE WILL HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DO SO. UM, CAN I SORRY TO STOP YOU? UM TELL ME AGAIN THE DATE AND HOW LONG THE MARCH 27TH UNTIL JULY, AND I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF JULY, BUT IT'S A IT'S GOING TO BE A CLOSE ELDORADO COMPLETELY. YOU HAVE TO GO AROUND AND HAVE TO GO. VERONICA STONEBRIDGE DRIVE AROUND TO CUSTER AND THE SIGNS ARE UP ALREADY. THE INTERSECTION. IT'S NOT A SEGMENT
[00:15:06]
REALLY WEST OF STONEBRIDGE DRIVE . IF YOU'RE HEADING WESTBOUND, AND YOU WANT TO GO TO CUSTARD, THE BEST THING TO DO IS GO SOUTH ON TUNBRIDGE DRIVE. AH TO CUSTER AND THEN BACK UP BACK NORTH IF THAT WERE THE CASE OR HEAD SOUTH , BUT, UM YES. ROAD CLOSURES ARE NEVER FUN, BUT THAT IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO GET THE WORK DONE. SO FINALLY YOU HAVE ON YOUR DAY AS A COUPLE OF TEASER SLIDES, AND I CALL HIM TEASERS FOR A REASON, BECAUSE ONE OF THEM MEANING THAT RECOGNIZE THAT HAS THESE FOREIGN NAMES THESE CITIES THAT ARE NOT PART OF TEXAS LIKE SAN FRANCISCO, SAN DIEGO. THIS WAS A SLIDE DECK THAT MAYOR FORD AND I HAD RECEIVED FROM AT ONE OF THE ONE OF THE MORE RECENT MAYOR. METROPOLITAN MIRRORS CAUCUS MEETINGS. AND IT WAS PRESENTED BY THE DALLAS REGIONAL CHAMBER AND WHAT REALLY DOES FOR YOU SHOW YOU THE SCALE OF THE DAY OF GOVERNMENT. THE SIZE OF THE METROPOLITAN REGION. WE ARE A BUNCH OF CITIES WITH ANY LARGE CITY STATE, ALMOST METROPOLITAN REGION. WHERE YOU SEE MCKINNEY IS REALLY WHERE SALT LAKE CITY'S MCKINNEY IS THE SIZE OF SALT LAKE CITY. SO YOU SEE NEXT TO US, FRISCO'S TACOMA, AND SO IT'S KIND OF A FUN LITTLE GEOGRAPHIC EXERCISE AND SHOWING THE SIZE AND SCALE OF THE DALLAS METROPOLITAN REGION. THE OTHER SLIDE RELATED TO THAT IS ALSO A TEASER AGAIN. I WILL SEND TO YOU THE ENTIRE SLIDE DECK. I'LL SEND IT TO AH, PRESIDENT SCHNEIDER AND SHOULDER DISTRIBUTED ACCORDINGLY. THE NEXT SLIDE SHOWS HOW DFW HAS SPARE OR FARED IN THE THREE YEAR JOB CHANGE THE 12 LARGEST METROPOLITAN REGIONS IN THE UNITED STATES, DFW IS BY FAR OUTPACING ALL OF THE OTHERS, AND THERE WERE ONLY FIVE THEY HAVE GROWN SINCE THE PANDEMIC IN THE THREE YEAR PERIOD. BRIDGING THE PANDEMIC, I SHOULD SAY DFW IS TWICE THE NEXT CITY OVER TWICE THE NEXT CITY OF HOUSTON AND THEN ATLANTA, THEN PHOENIX AND MIAMI ALL SOUTHERN AND WESTERN CITIES BY THE WAY, AND THEN THE REST OF THE LARGE 12 METROPOLITAN AREAS HAVE STILL SEEN A NET LOSS IN JOB CHANGE.SO UM, IT JUST UNDERSCORES THE DYNAMISM OF THE DFW REGION, THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY HERE AND, UH THE SLIDE DECK THAT YOU WILL SEE WILL HAVE A LOT MORE GOOD INFORMATION. I THINK YOU'LL ENJOY THAT. SO I WILL STAND WITH ANY QUICK BEFORE ANY QUESTIONS. HAVE A QUESTION, PAUL. GOOD MORNING FOR THOSE UNABLE TO MAKE EITHER OF THE TWO SESSIONS ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WILL ANY MATERIAL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC IN PRINTED FORM? I BELIEVE SO ITS PRELIMINARY SO IT'S NOT FINALIZED, SO I'LL HAVE TO TALK WITH BARRY SHELTON ABOUT WHEN WE'RE GOING TO POST THAT OR MAKE IT AVAILABLE, BUT THE INTENT IS TO MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOLKS FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT. THANK YOU. PAUL WHAT WAS THE TIME OF THE SECOND, UM, PUBLIC INFORMATION ON APRIL 19TH COCKROACH SCHOOL OKAY, AND THAT'S THE EXTENT OF THE CITY'S KIND OF PUBLIC MEETINGS ON REMEMBER, THESE ARE PRELIMINARY. NOW THERE WILL BE ONE MORE CHANCE WHEN THE ACTUAL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT IS FILED WITH THE FAA. THEN THE PUBLIC WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT THROUGH THE NORMAL COURSE OF PUBLIC COMMENT TO THE FEDERAL PROCESS. THIS IS BASICALLY US SAYING, HERE'S THE PRELIMINARY INFORMATION AND WE WANT TO GET IT OUT TO THE COMMUNITY, CERTAINLY IN ADVANCE OF THE ELECTION TO TRY TO PROVIDE FACTUAL INFORMATION TO FOLKS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BUT THE ACTUAL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT WILL BE FILED THROUGH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AFTER IT WILL BE PROBABLY IN JUNE, AND THERE WILL BE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS FOR THAT AS WELL. BUT THE CURRENT PUBLIC MEETINGS WILL INCLUDE TRAFFIC IMPACTS, UM, AS WELL AS NOISE AND A NUMBER OF FACTORS. THEY LOOK AT NOISE. THEY LOOK AT TRAFFIC THEY LOOK AT, UM, ECOLOGICAL IMPACTS AND ANYTHING ELSE SO RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL GETTING AT IS, THIS IS THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR FOLKS TO UNDERSTAND. EVERYTHING SURROUNDING THE AIRPORT. THAT'S RIGHT. THESE ARE THE ONLY TWO OPPORTUNITIES PRIOR TO THE ELECTION. THANKS. ANYTHING ELSE . ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. VISIT MCKINNEY, ERIN. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR, MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD ERIN WARNER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF VISIT MCKINNEY, HAPPY TO BE HERE WITH YOU THIS MORNING. I'LL KICK OFF BY GIVING YOU A CONTINUED UPDATE. I THINK I SPOKE TO THIS LAST WEEK, BUT WE ARE STILL TRENDING RIGHT AT 30% ABOVE ON OUR HOT TAX COLLECTIONS EUROPE COMPARED TO THIS TIME LAST YEAR. WHICH LIKE I SAID LAST YEAR WAS A RECORD YEAR FOR US AND OUR HOT COLLECTIONS. AND SO THAT SPEAKS TO THE HEALTH OF THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW, EVEN IN A IN A ECONOMY THAT YOU KNOW, CAN BE QUESTIONED. AT TIMES WE ARE DOING QUITE WELL IN MCKINNEY AND STILL HAVE SOME OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH, ESPECIALLY MIDWEEK GROWTH. AND WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR OCCUPANCY RATES, AND SO REALLY EXCITED TO SEE THAT AND OUR TEAM IS DEFINITELY PUSHING TO TRY TO
[00:20:01]
KEEP THAT TREND MOVING FORWARD, IF NOT UP. ALSO WANT TO GIVE YOU A QUICK UPDATE ONE OF THE THINGS WE DID AT OUR STRATEGIC SESSION LAST MONTH WITH OUR BOARD IN WHICH INCLUDED SOME OF OUR STRATEGIC PARTNERS, AND I KNOW CINDY WAS ABLE TO JOIN US. FOR LEAST HALF OF THE DAY IS WE LOOKED AT OUR MISSION AND OUR AND WE ACTUALLY DID NOT HAVE A VISION STATEMENT, AND SO WE SPENT TIME KIND OF RE CRAFTING OUR MISSION A BIT TO MAKE SURE THAT IT FITS WHO WE ARE. ARE AND WHAT WE DO, AND THEN WE WORKED ON A VISION STATEMENT, SO I WANTED TO KIND OF READ THAT TO YOU. SO YOU KNOW THE DIRECTION WE'RE HEADING OUR MISSION FOR VISIT, MCKINNEY IS TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF MCKINNEY BY INVITING OTHERS TO VISIT, EXPLORE AND ENJOY THE MANY EXPERIENCES OUR CITY HAS TO OFFER. OUR VISION STATEMENT AGAIN. THIS IS NEW, COMPLETELY NEW. FOR US TO HAVE A VISION STATEMENT IS TO BE THE MOST WELCOMING JIM AND ALL OF TEXAS.AND SO THAT IS KIND OF THE CHARGE WE'RE GOING TO CARRY AS AN ORGANIZATION. UM, AND TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU ARE IN MCKINNEY THAT YOU WALK AWAY KNOWING THAT THAT WE CARED ABOUT YOU, AND WE DID EVERYTHING WE COULD TO GIVE YOU THE BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE WHILE YOU WERE HERE. UM I ALSO WANT TO GIVE YOU A QUICK UPDATE APRIL AND MAY ARE HER REALLY BUSY IN MCKINNEY. AND SO I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I KNOW OUR HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY FOLKS ARE ARE GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF NEW PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO EAT, DINE SHOP AND PLAY. WE'RE KICKING IT OFF EARLY APRIL WITH THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN'S VISIT TO HERE IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY, THEY'RE BRINGING STAFF COUNCIL AND THEIR DOWNTOWN, UM, THERE DOWNTOWN STAKEHOLDERS TO LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE DONE IN DOWNTOWN AND TALK WITH OUR STAFF AND TALK ABOUT SOME OF THEIR UPCOMING PROJECTS. SO THEY HAVE BOOKED OUT 25 ROOMS AT THE GRAND HOTEL AND THEY WILL BE SPENDING TIME EATING DOWN HERE TALKING WITH OUR TEAMS. THAT IS APRIL 5TH TO THE SIXTH AND THEN WE MOVE INTO LATER IN APRIL. WE HAVE A IRISH WOLFHOUND DOG SHOW OVER AT MYERS PARK, AND THEY'RE WORKING WITH OUR TEAM ON HOTEL NIGHTS, APRIL 22ND THAT SATURDAY. WE'RE DOING AN INFLUENCER FAM TOUR HERE IN MCKINNEY. THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH MCKINNEY MAIN STREET.
ESSENTIALLY WE'VE CURATED AND ALL DAY ITINERARY OR HALF A DAY ITINERARY FOR UP TO 40, SOCIAL MEDIA, INFLUENCERS AND MEDIA PROFESSIONALS TO COME AND EXPERIENCE MCKINNEY IN A REALLY UNIQUE WAY. AND SO WE ARE WORKING ON FINALIZING THAT LIST RIGHT NOW AND THAT THAT WILL BE A PHENOMENAL DAY TO SHOWCASE WHAT WE HAVE. UH EARLY MAY COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA CONFERENCE THEY BOOKED OUT THE GRAND HOTEL AND THEY HAVE OVERFLOWED THE SHERATON NOBODY SPENDING TIME NOT ONLY IN DOWNTOWN BUT ALSO OVER AN ADRIATIC. AND SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO GIVING THEM A GREAT EXPERIENCE WHILE THEY'RE HERE MAY 8TH TO THE 14TH, AS YOU KNOW , IS THE BYRON NELSON AND THAT'S ALL HANDS ON DECK, WHICH ALSO HAPPENS TO BE NATIONAL TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK AND SO IN MY MIND WHAT A PHENOMENAL WAY TO HAVE NATIONAL TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK AND SHOWCASE THE BYRON AND ALL THAT THAT DOES FOR OUR COMMITTEE. UNITY. AND THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT, THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE BYRON WE HAVE THE NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE D ONE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP HERE IN MCKINNEY, WHICH GETS US THROUGH MAY. THAT'S NOT EVEN MENTIONING ALL OF THE THINGS THAT ANDREW'S DOING OVER IN HIS TEAM WITH HIS EVENTS AND WHAT HAPPENS THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY, UM AND SO WE WE'VE GOT A REALLY BUSY SPRING. WE'LL MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE OUR HANDS IN EACH OF THESE TO GIVE THEM A GREAT EXPERIENCE, AND I KNOW THAT THEY'LL ENJOY OUR COMMUNITY. WHILE THEY'RE HERE. I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS YOUR COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA EVENT. WHAT IS THAT? AND WHEN IS THAT AGAIN? SO THAT ONE WAS, UM, THAT IS A GROUP OF MAYORS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND MAYOR FULLER AND WILL BE ONE OF THEIR KEY HOST, SO WE'LL BE WORKING WITH HIM, TOO. KIND OF FACILITATE THAT THAT IS MAY 2ND THROUGH THE FIFTH AND THEY'LL THEY'LL HAVE ALL OF THEIR MEETINGS AT THE GRAND HOTEL AND THE MEETING SPACE THERE AND THEN HAVE SEVERAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY TO KIND OF GET OUT AND SEE MCKINNEY. YEAH WHAT'S THE STATUS OF YOUR REMODELING? FINISHED THE ACTUAL REMODEL PART IS HAS BEEN DONE FOR A LONG TIME. EVERYTHING AS FAR AS FURNITURE AND THAT WE NEED RECEPTION, DESK CHAIRS, COUCHES , ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF. IT'S ALL ON ORDER AND THE DELIVERY TIMELINES ARE ALL OVER THE BOARD. I MEAN, WE'VE GOT SOME ITEMS THAT ARE PUSHED OUT UNTIL JUNE, SO WE HAVE RECEIVED TWO CHAIRS AND IN A RUG, SO IT'S I GUESS SUPPLY CHAIN HITS EVERYBODY A LITTLE BIT, BUT BUT WE'RE WORKING ON IT AS QUICK AS WE CAN. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. MAIN STREET AND, UM AND EMMY D. C THEY'RE NOT HERE, BUT THE REPORT WAS ATTACHED TO THE AGENDA. MAIN STREET IMPACT. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR MADAM PRESIDENT M. C D. C BOARD ANDREW JONES CULTURAL DISTRICT DIRECTOR MCKINNEY MAIN STREET PERFORMING
[00:25:05]
ARTS CENTER. UM THIS PAST MONDAY , WE HAD AN AWESOME RETAIL BOOT CAMP. IT WAS A FULL DAY SESSION WE HOSTED OVER 60 SMALL BUSINESSES, 40 OF WHICH WERE FROM FROM OUR DOWNTOWN, WHICH IS GREAT. WE HAD A GREAT SPEAKER THAT TALKED ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS STORE OPERATIONS. IT WAS IT WAS A GREAT EVENT. AND THEN THE DAY AFTER SHE DID A LOT OF ONE ON ONE SESSIONS WITH MERCHANTS ALL THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN FABULOUS EVENT. WE'RE EXCITED. THIS IS OUR SECOND YEAR WE'RE GOING TO KEEP DOING IT AND IT'S BEEN A REALLY WELL RECEIVED EVENT FOR OUR MERCHANTS. UM THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND. WE HAVE AN INAUGURAL EVENT. IT'S OUR NEW COFFEE CRAWL , SO GET CAFFEINATED. THEY'RE ALMOST SOLD OUT. MARCH 25TH. THERE'S UH, STARTING AT EIGHT AM TO 11 AM, YOU CAN SAMPLE COFFEE ALL ACROSS DOWNTOWN. IT'S GOING TO BE A REALLY, REALLY NEAT EVENT, AND CONSIDERING THAT THEY ARE ALREADY SOLD OUT, I THINK IT WILL BE QUARTERLY EVENT. SO UM, THIS MARK LATER THIS MONTH WITH IMPACT WE HAVE BEETROOT REVIVAL IS COMING TO IMPACT. IT'S A GREAT UH IT'S A GREAT PERFORMANCE. IT'S A DUO FROM IRELAND, SO IT SHOULD BE A REALLY NEAT EVENT. UM, AND THEN. APRIL 1ST WE HAVE THE JURIED ART SHOW. THIS IS OUR ANNUAL EVENT CELEBRATING ART AND IN MCKINNEY FROM THE FIRST THROUGH THE 23RD WILL HAVE OUR DISPLAY IN IMPACT . COME OUT, CHECK IT OUT, AND, YOU KNOW, FEEL FREE TO COME TO THE RECEPTION ON APRIL 1ST WHERE THEY AWARD THE WINNER AND THEN THIS ART IS PERMANENTLY DISPLAYED AN IMPACT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. APRIL 27TH THROUGH 29TH YOUNG ACTORS GUILD IS PRESENTING MURDERS IN THE AIR, SO IT'S UH THERE'S A LOT OF MURDER HAPPENING AT IMPACT. UM BUT IT SHOULD BE A GREAT GREAT SHOW. SO YEAH. STANFORD QUESTIONS. ANDREW HAVE YOU COORDINATED AT ALL WITH THE MCKINNEY CHAMBER TO LIKE, PARLAY YOUR RETAIL? ABSOLUTELY OTHERS BOTH OUR FIRST YEAR A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, AND THEN YOU KNOW THIS PASS ON? YEAH ABSOLUTELY. IS IT OPEN TO BUSINESSES OUTSIDE MAINSTREAM? OKAY OBVIOUSLY UNDER UNDERWRITE THE COST FOR OUR MAIN STREET MEMBERS, BUT AND BUT FOR THERE'S ALSO REDUCED PRICE FOR CHAMBER MEMBERS AS WELL. OKAY I WOULD MAYBE SUGGEST FOR NEXT YEAR THAT THE CHAMBER REMOTE THAT MORE. BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF OTHERS WERE AWARE OF IT. BUT I DEFINITELY AGREE. DIDN'T GET MUCH NOTICE FROM THE CHAMBER ON THAT, AND I THINK A LOT OF BUSINESSES COULD BENEFIT SOUNDS LIKE A WONDERFUL PROGRAM. GREAT FEEDBACK. THANK YOU, JOY. WANTS TO COME. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. PARKS AND REC, MR KOWSKI. GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE. MICHAEL KOWSKI, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION. WE'RE AIMING FOR OUR ANNUAL JOINT MEETING WITH EMC, D. C AND THE PARKS RECREATION BOARD FOR APRIL 13TH. SO THAT WILL ONCE AGAIN BE A NICE WEEKEND FOR WHAT WE'VE DONE TOGETHER, AND WE'LL SPEAK ABOUT WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS. I WANT TO TOUCH ON TWO SMALL PARK UPGRADES ARE WORTH MENTIONING. THE WINK PARK. WE'RE UPDATING THE DOG PARK RIGHT NOW, MAKING SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO THE SPLASH PAD OUT THERE AS WELL AS FIXING THE GATES AND DURING SOME MAINTENANCE OUT THERE, SO SOME CLOSURES ON AND OFF, BUT WE ARE NOTIFYING THE PUBLIC AS BEST WE CAN. AND RIGHT DOWN THE STREET.HERE ON HUNT STREET IS THE HURT CRAIG CENTER FOR THE ARTS. NEXT TO THAT IS A PARK CALLED CENTRAL PARK. IT'S VERY MODEST, SMALL PART. WE'RE ADDING A PLAYGROUND TO THAT RIGHT NOW. ONE OF THE BIGGEST REQUESTS WE GET FROM OUR CITIZENS IN THIS AREA IS A LACK OF PLAYGROUND OPTIONS. SO WE'RE CHECKING THAT BOX RIGHT NOW, SO YOU MAY SEE SOME WORK HAPPENING. TWO THINGS THIS SATURDAY TO MENTION OUR PARKS FOUNDATION IS HAVING A TRAILS, VOLUNTEER DAY. RIGHT BY THE REC CENTER COLLEAGUE. THIS WILL BE MODIFYING AND CLEANING UP OUR NATURE TRAIL, WHICH JUMPS OFF FROM THAT FACILITY BELT FROM 7:30 A.M. [00:30:06]
GAIN NEW SKILLS IN PARTICULAR, LOOKING FOR HELP AT SUMMER CAMPS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE RIGHT NOW. THIS APRIL. WE ALWAYS HAVE OUR PARTY ON THE PATIO EVENTS AT THE REC CENTER OF TOWN LEAK.THOSE ARE EVERY SATURDAY. A GREAT BAND PLAYS FROM SEVEN O'CLOCK TO NINE O'CLOCK. IT'S B Y. O. B AND I WILL SAY IT'S A GREAT EXPERIENCE ABOUT 125 250 PEOPLE SHOW UP EACH TIME, GREAT COMMUNITY EVENT AND A GREAT SETTING AS WELL. AND THEN, LASTLY, RED, WHITE AND BOOM.
WE'RE LOOKING AT SOME MODIFICATIONS THIS YEAR FROM OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS YOU KNOW, CRAIG RANCH SOCCER COMPLEX IS UNDER RENOVATIONS, SO WE ARE LOOKING AT DIFFERENT OPTIONS AROUND THE CITY TO HOPEFULLY HAVE A JULY 4TH CELEBRATION, E FIREWORKS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE. SO STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS ON THAT FRONT. AND WITH THAT I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. THE BEST PARKING MCKINNEY COMMON WHICH PARTS THAT BRIDGE WILL GIVE A FULL DETAIL AT 13TH, BUT AS YOU KNOW, IT'S ROCKING AND ROLLING. THE WEATHER NOW IS KIND OF FUNNY TIME OF YEAR. IT RAINS ON A TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY. IT KIND OF MESSES UP A WHOLE WEEK. BUT WILL GIVE A FULL RECAP ARE STARTING TO GET MOVED OVER THERE, THOUGH. OKAY MIKE. ANY UPDATE ON THE ELEVATOR SITUATION AT THE INDOOR TENNISLS IN AN INSPECTION NEXT WEEK. WE'RE HOPING TO OPEN UP WITHIN A MONTH. STILL, I WAS THERE YESTERDAY AT THE STILL SOME WORK TO DO. WE ANTICIPATE HAVING OF THE OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION, PROBABLY IN JUNE OR JULY, PROBABLY JULY TO COINCIDE WITH NATIONAL PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH. GIVE US SOME TIME TO OPEN UP, GET THE OPERATION'S UNDERWAY AND THEN HAVE A GREAT CELEBRATION. WILL THERE BE ANY KIND OF DISCOUNTED RATE FOR THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY MEMBERS OF APEC CENTER AS SORT OF LIKE AN INCENTIVE TO JOIN THE INDOOR COURTS FACILITY AND YOU KIND OF LIKE, OH, PARTNERSHIP THERE AT THIS TIME? NO FOR TWO REASONS. ONE. THOSE ARE TRULY TWO SEPARATE OPERATIONS THAT DON'T INTERMINGLE PER SE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE'RE HAVING NO TROUBLE AT ALL WITH PRE SALES FOR THE MEMBERSHIPS OR INDOOR.
THANK YOU. TIP SUBCOMMITTEE. THERE'S NO REPORT. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A MEETING SINCE OUR LAST

OUR VISITS TO THE CDC WEBSITE HAVE DOUBLED DURING JANUARY AND FEBRUARY AS COMPARED TO LAST YEAR. SO UM, INTERESTING PHENOMENON. WE'LL SEE HOW THAT CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.THERE'S ALSO GREAT INFORMATION ABOUT FACEBOOK POST AND WHICH ONES ARE THE HIGHEST PERFORMING AND INTERESTINGLY UM, A COUPLE OF THEM HAVE BEEN ACTIVITIES THAT ARE SUPPORTED BY PROMOTIONAL GRANTS FROM CDC, THE MILLHOUSE ART FEST AND THE BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENTS WERE SOME OF THE HIGHEST PERFORMERS. UM. MR GRIMES MENTIONED THE JOINT MEETING FOR CITY COUNCIL. TARGET DATE IS APRIL 25TH. MR KOWSKI MENTIONED JOINT MEETING. FOR PARKS ADVISORY BOARD AND CDC, AND I THINK IT'S AN IMPORTANT MEETING FOR US NOT ONLY FOR AN UPDATE ON WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED OVER THE PAST YEAR BUT TO GIVE A CHANCE TO PROVIDE INPUT ON FOCUS FOR AND PRIORITIES FOR THE COMING YEAR, SO WILL CONFIRM THAT BUT SAVE THAT DATE. UM ON THE TUBS. FRONT WORK IS CONTINUING. THERE WILL SCHEDULE A MEETING IN THE SUBCOMMITTEE, PROBABLY MID APRIL, UM. SO THAT THERE BE A SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT NEXT MONTH BUT DIDN'T WANT TO LET THE BOARD KNOW THEY'RE CONTINUING TO WORK TOWARDS SECURING A TEMPORARY CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY IN MID TO LATE APRIL TO BEGIN THE BEER BREWING PROCESS AND WE MET BRENDA AND KEITH AND TREVOR AND I MET THIS WEEK AND WALKED THE SITE AND, UH , IDENTIFIED THE LOCATIONS FOR THE SHANE STRUCTURES AND HAVE PICKED UP FABRIC FOR THOSE SO MAKING PROGRESS ON THAT FRONT. UM. THE ONLY OTHER THING I MENTIONED IS, UH WE'VE HEARD ABOUT THE UPCOMING EVENTS THAT ARE GOING TO TAKE PLACE DOWNTOWN. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHERS THAT I WANTED TO CALL OUT, SUPPORTED BY CDC GRANTS THAT ARE COMING UP BEFORE THE NEXT BOARD MEETING THE WEEKLY FARMER'S MARKET AND CHESTNUT SQUARE. THEY'RE ONE OF THE FEW THAT HAVE CONTINUED ON EVERY WEEK THROUGH THE WINTER, AND, UM
[00:35:06]
HAVE A GREAT VARIETY OF VENDORS, SO PUT THAT ON YOUR CALENDAR TO STOP BY SHAKESPEARE. MCKINNEY IS COMING UP THIS WEEKEND. I BELIEVE MCKINNEY PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA HAS A PERFORMANCE.APRIL 1ST. IT'S BEAUJOLAIS ARTS AND ARTS AND BALLOON. WE MENTIONED THIS THAT SAME WEEKEND ART MEETS FLORAL TAKES PLACE AT HEARD CRAIG. ANOTHER GREAT EVENT , AND THEN THE QANTAS TRIATHLON . FOR ALL OF YOU WHO ARE IN TRAINING IS THE IS THAT SUNDAY, APRIL 16TH. KELLY SHE WAS GREAT AND THEN ONE OTHER COMMUNITY MCKINNEY COMMUNITY CONCERTS, HAS A CONCERT ON APRIL 28TH SIDE STREETS, STRUCTURES, AND I KNOW SEVERAL BOARD MEMBERS ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND THAT. AND WITH THAT, I'M HAPPY TO GO. THE OTHER THING I POINT OUT THAT, UH , THE CITY'S LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES GREAT BROCHURE HAS BEEN PREPARED SO EASY TO READ AND EASY TO IDENTIFY THOSE ISSUES WHERE YOU MAY WANT TO WEIGH IN AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD AND SUPPORT THE CITIES.
PRIORITIES ON THAT FRONT. ANY QUESTIONS? I'LL JUST MAKE A COMMENT JUMPING OFF OF THE LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES. UM WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD NEXT WEEK TO THE CHAMBERS, UM, CALLING COUNTY DAYS INN AUSTIN, UM AND I WILL BE ATTENDING THAT. UM, BUT IT'S AN IT'S AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR FOLKS FROM AROUND COLLIN COUNTY TO PARTICIPATE WITH THEIR CHAMBERS TO GO DOWN, AND, UM ADVOCATE FOR THE CITY AND FOR THE COUNTY WITH OUR DELEGATION, AND SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.
AND I KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE A LOT OF CITY STAFF THERE AND COUNCIL I THINK IS COMING AS WELL. SO BE A GOOD EVENT, AND I THINK ROB'S JOINING US AS WELL, RIGHT? NOW. COMMON. I HAVE ONE.
CINDY MINTON MCKINNEY COMMUNITY CONCERTS FOR NEXT MONTH, BUT THERE'S ALSO ONE TOMORROW NIGHT.
MANY OF US WILL ATTEND. I WILL TELL THOSE OF YOU HAVE NEVER ATTENDED. THEY REALLY DO A NICE JOB. UNFORTUNATELY I NOTICED THAT MOST OF THE AUDIENCE IS ABOUT MY AGE. UH WHICH I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT PORTENDS FOR THE FUTURE FOR THEM, BUT I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO GO. THEY DO A GREAT JOB OF A MIXTURE OF ENTERTAINMENT AND, UH I THINK IT'D BE GREAT. IF YOUNGER SOMEWHERE YOUNGER PEOPLE WOULD WOULD ATTEND. I THINK IT'S NOT A WELL KNOWN. EVENTS THAT THE CITY OF MCKINNEY HANDS BECAUSE THEY DON'T PROMOTE IT VERY WELL. FINISH YOU KNOW, IT'S KIND OF A MEMBER. YOU KNOW, WE HAVE TO GET A AN ANNUAL AND ANNUAL PASSED TO GO, BUT I WISH THEY PROMOTED BETTER BECAUSE I THINK I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE MISSING OPPORTUNITY. THAT'S THIS REALLY OUT THERE. THAT'S REALLY GOOD. I'LL BE BRINGING MY SEVEN AND NINE YEAR OLD DECREASE. AVERAGE AGE. WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT . SO YOU SAID YOU SAID YOUNGER, SO YOU SPEAK TO ME BECAUSE I'M YOUNGER, YOUNGER. I WILL DEFINITELY LOOK INTO THAT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND YOUR ON THAT EVENT. NOTHING ELSE. WE WILL MOVE ON TO REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS ITEM 23-1. UPDATE ON THE
[Update on Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, Speese Campus, McKinney, Texas.]
CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY ADVOCACY CENTER OF COLLIN COUNTY SPEECH CAMPUS. MCKINNEY, TEXAS. GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE. MY NAME IS LYNN MCLEAN. I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING THE CEO OF THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF COLLIN COUNTY. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK TO YOU ALL TODAY. I'M HERE TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE FROM THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF COLLIN COUNTY FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT AND TO UPDATE YOU ON OUR NEW FACILITY HERE IN MCKINNEY.YOU MAY RECALL THAT ORGANIZATION LAUNCHED A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN IN JANUARY OF 2018 TO RAISE FUNDS TO BUILD AN ADDITIONAL FACILITY FOR THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER DUE TO THE PROJECTED EXPONENTIAL GROWTH IN CALLING COUNTY. WE DETERMINED FROM OUR RESEARCH THAT IF WE DIDN'T BUILD THIS FACILITY, ABUSE AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN WOULD EVENTUALLY BE TURNED AWAY. AND WOULD NEVER RECEIVED ALL THE SERVICES THAT THEY NEEDED TO HEAL. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL RAISING $10.1 MILLION BY THE END OF 2020, WHICH WAS THE PROJECTED COST OF THE PROJECT AT THAT TIME, BUT WHEN THE PANDEMIC HIT AND THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS STARTED, WE QUICKLY REALIZED WE HAD PICKED THE WORST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE PLANET TO CONSTRUCT THE BUILDING. THE COST OF STRUCTURAL , STEEL, LUMBER, CONCRETE AND EVERYTHING ELSE SKYROCKETED. IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR US TO REALIZE THAT WE WERE GOING TO NEED MORE MONEY TO COMPLETE THIS IMPORTANT PROJECT. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2021. I CAME BEFORE YOU TO REQUEST $250,000 TO COVER THE COSTS OF HORIZONTAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A NEW FACILITY. YOU GRACIOUSLY GRANTED
[00:40:01]
THAT REQUEST AND WE WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL. OUR NEW FACILITY NOW NAMED THE SPACE CAMPUS AFTER THE LEAD DONOR TO THE CAMPAIGN TO THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN OPEN AND FULLY OPERATIONAL SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2022. I WANT TO SHARE THE IMPACT. YOUR GIFT IS MADE ON THE COMMUNITY AND ON THE CHILDREN THAT WE SERVE. THE FACILITY IS ALMOST 39,000 SQUARE FEET AND CURRENTLY HOUSES 57 STAFF. AS YOU KNOW, WE SERVE ABUSE AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES USING A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM APPROACH COHOUSING AND COORDINATING THE EFFORTS OF ALL THE PROFESSIONALS INVOLVED IN CHILD ABUSE CASES. IN ONE LOCATION, THE SPACE CAMPUS CURRENTLY HOUSES 10 LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, SO THAT INCLUDES OFFICERS FROM THE COLLIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND PRINCETON, SELENA MCKINNEY AND FRISCO POLICE DEPARTMENTS.29 CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES INVESTIGATION STAFF 18 CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY STAFF, INCLUDING OUR CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, FORENSIC INTERVIEWERS, THERAPISTS AND FAMILY ADVOCATES . AND AS I SAID A TOTAL OF 57 STAFF CURRENTLY HOUSED THERE. BUT WE DIDN'T BUILD THIS BUILDING FOR NOW. WE BUILT THIS BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE. UM AND ALL THE OFFICES HAVE BEEN WIRED FOR TWO PEOPLE AND ALL THE DEATHS CAN BE SPLIT INTO TWO, SO THE FACILITY WAS BUILT TO HOLD 120 STAFF. WHEN WE DID OUR RESEARCH EARLY IN THIS PROJECT, WE DETERMINED THAT AT THAT TIME 60% OF OUR CLIENTS WERE COMING FROM SOUTHERN COLLIN COUNTY AND 40% WERE COMING FROM NORTHERN COLLIN COUNTY. WE PROJECTED THAT IN 10 YEARS, WHICH WOULD BE 2027 SINCE WE GATHERED THIS DATA IN 2017. IT WOULD FLIP AND 60% OF THE CLIENTS WHO ARE COMING FROM THE NORTH AND 40% FROM THE SOUTH. THE INTERESTING THING IS THAT IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF OUR OPERATION, WE'RE ALREADY SEEING THAT 50 TO 60% OF OUR NEW CLIENTS ARE COMING FROM NORTHERN COLLIN COUNTY. NEW CLIENTS ARE THE CLIENTS SEEN IN CHILD ENGAGEMENT AND FORENSIC INTERVIEWS. IN TOTAL, WE'VE PROVIDED MORE THAN 2000 THERAPY SESSIONS AND PROVIDED CORE SERVICES 2076 CLIENTS IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF OUR OPERATION. WORKED HARD DURING THE DESIGN PROCESS TO CREATE A FACILITY THAT'S WARM AND WELCOMING FOR OUR CLIENTS AND OUR STAFF. THIS IS THE MAIN ATRIUM THAT EVERYONE WALKS THROUGH. THIS IS THE ACTIVITY CENTER WHERE OUR CHILDREN WAIT FOR SERVICES. IT'S NOT UNCOMMON FOR CHILDREN TO BE AT THE CENTER FOR SEVERAL HOURS, AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE WELL CARED FOR AND NURTURED WHILE THEY'RE THERE. THIS IS THE RAINBOW ROOM, WHICH ISN'T AN EMERGENCY RESOURCE CENTER STOPPED WITH ALL NEW ITEMS THAT ANY MEMBER OF THE TEAM CAN ACCESS FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES THAT THEY SERVE. AND THIS IS THE STAFF BREAK ROOM AND COURTYARD. AS I SAID, WE WANTED THIS FACILITY TO BE WARM AND WELCOMING, BOTH FOR CLIENTS AND FOR OUR STAFF. THIS WORK IS DIFFICULT. YOU CAN'T UNSEE WHAT THEY SEE. YOU CAN'T UNHURT WHAT THEY HEAR. SO THE BETTER WE CARE FOR THESE STAFF, THE BETTER SPACE THEY ARE IN TO CARE FOR THE CHILDREN WHO WALK THROUGH OUR DOORS. IT WAS A SEVEN YEAR JOURNEY TO CONSTRUCT OUR NEW FACILITY, AND THERE WERE SEVERAL MIRACLES THAT HAPPENED ALONG THE WAY. ONE WAS THE $1 MILLION DONATION OF LAND FROM DAVID BROOKS AND INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL ONE WAS THE FACT THAT K D. C STEPPED UP TO PROVIDE PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES ON A PRO BONO BASIS, AND THE OTHER WAS THE $250,000 GRANT FROM THE MCKINNEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. I HAVE LITTLE DOUBT THAT WITHOUT THE HELP OF ALL OF YOU, WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING US TO ENSURE THAT NO MATTER HOW LARGE CALLING COUNTY GROWS, NO CHILD HAS EVER TURNED AWAY AND EVERY CHILD RECEIVES ALL THE SERVICES. THEY NEED TO HELL, NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE IN OUR COUNTY, IT IS A LEGACY THAT WILL LAST FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. THANK YOU.
ENOLOGIST SAY, UM. IS REALLY JUST KIND OF GOOD RANCHING TO KNOW WE HAVE TO HAVE THESE FACILITIES. NO YOU KNOW TO PROTECT. YOU KNOW, OUR CHILDREN ARE MOST VULNERABLE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE WORK THAT YOUR ORGANIZATION DOES. I'M GRATEFUL FOR THE WORK THAT YOU DO HERE IN THE CITY OF MCKINNEY. AND OF COURSE, ALL OF OUR PARTNERS BECAUSE AND THEN WHEN YOU WHEN WE SAY WE HAVE TO PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE IN EXPANSION, AND THERE'S EVEN MORE HEARTBREAKING , ACTUALLY, IS WHAT IT IS NO, THAT WE HAVE TO PREPARE FOR THE EXPANSION BECAUSE IT'S INEVITABLE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY VULNERABLE CHILDREN OUT HERE, BUT THANK YOU, YOUR STAFF FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. IN YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR OUR COMMUNITY. WE'RE VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT. YEAH THAT'S WHAT I SAY. MY OFFICE. COLOR.
[00:45:03]
WILLIAMS AND ALAN, WE WERE SUPPORTIVE. YOU GUYS IN THE EVERYBODY'S IN. NO THEY'RE ALWAYS IN NEED OF ITEMS IN THE RAINBOW ROOM, BECAUSE I KNOW YOU GUYS RUN SHORT. A LOT OF THAT.I'D ALWAYS RECOMMEND ANYBODY WHO'S OUT THERE WHO'S WATCHING, UH, GET TOYS, GET NEW CLOTHES.
WHATEVER MAKE THE DONATION BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS NEED UNFORTUNATELY, THEY ALWAYS NEED THEM. YEAH I MEAN, WE SERVE AN AVERAGE OF 100 CLIENTS OF A MONTH OUT OF THAT ROOM, SO IT TURNS OVER PRETTY QUICK. WHAT? WHAT IS THE ADDRESS OF THE NEW FACILITY? IT IS 17 01 NORTH HERITAGE, WHICH IS LIKE AT THE CORNER OF HERITAGE AND HERON. NOT VERY FAR FROM HERE. IF YOU HAVE NOT SOME OF YOU I KNOW WE'RE ABLE TO COME TO THE GRAND OPENING AND HAVE IT WAS AWESOME.
BUT IF YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO COME TO THE GRAND OPENING, YOU WOULD STILL LIKE TO SEE THE FACILITY.
LET CINDY NO, I'D BE HAPPY TO SET UP A TOUR FOR YOU. THAT WAS SAFE BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO ASK FOR EXACTLY THAT BECAUSE I DID MISS THE FIRST ONE. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND CINDY, PLEASE DO.
THANK YOU. I'M WITH YOU LEADERSHIP MCKINNEY AND WE WENT TO THE PLANO LOCATION. I HAVE TO SAY IF YOU GO THE TOUR JUST BE READY TO HAVE YOUR YOUR HEART RIPPED OUT BECAUSE IT IS JUST ABSOLUTELY SO SANDWICH. YOU SEE THERE, BUT YOU GUYS DO A GREAT JOB. WELL BEFORE WE GET TO DO AND IF YOU COULD SEND JUST KIND OF A QUICK NOTE ON THIS, THE TYPE OF ITEMS THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE RAINBOW ROOM THAT REALLY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION . SO YEAH, WE CLOSE OF ALL SIZES IN FITS TWO TEENAGERS, SHOES. UM, I WOULD SAY. NOW THAT WE'RE GETTING GOING TO BE GETTING INTO SUMMER WHEN YOU'RE THINKING OF CLOTHES, I THINK OF SUMMER CLOTHES, SO LIKE SHORTS AND T SHIRTS AND THAT SORT OF THING. WE ALWAYS NEED SHOES. WE ALWAYS NEED UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS. WE GO THROUGH A LOT OF UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS, AND THOSE THINGS ARE VERY PRACTICAL. AND THERE ARE SOME GROUPS THAT COLLECT HYGIENE PRODUCTS FOR CHILDREN, WHICH IS ALSO REALLY HELPFUL. THANK YOU THINGS THAT COME TO MIND RIGHT AFTER THAT ON THE WEBSITE TYPICALLY, IS THERE A LIST THERE'S A RAINBOW ROOM WISH LIST ON THE WEBSITE, SO YOU CAN LOOK ON THERE, TOO, FOR ANYTHING CURRENT THAT WE NEED. THANK YOU JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR FORESIGHT AND BUILDING THIS FOR THE FUTURE. YEARS AGO, I WAS PART OF AN AUDIT TEAM THAT LOOKED AT THE FEDERAL GRANT PROCESS FOR THESE CENTERS AND WE INTERVIEWED CENTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND WE SPOKE TO SO MANY THAT WE'RE REALLY LIMITED AND THE RESOURCES THAT THEY COULD PROVIDE, AND THEY HAD ALL OF THIS DATA ABOUT THE GROWING NEED. THEY WERE NOT PREPARED FOR IT AT ALL. REALLY APPRECIATE THE DEDICATION OF OUR BOARD AND FUNDING YOU AND THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY FOR THE SUPPORT AND JUST AGAIN, YOUR FORESIGHT FOR THINKING AHEAD TO PLAN FOR THE GROWING NEED. YEAH WE HAVE INCREDIBLE LEADERSHIP OR BOARD WAS A BIG PART OF THAT STRATEGIC THINKING. WE'RE VERY GRATEFUL TO THEM AND THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF IT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU. NEXT REGULAR AGENDA
