THE SALESMANSHIP CLUB, THE ME DC IN THE CITY WITH THE POLICE AND FIRE. IT'S ANOTHER GREAT EVENT. I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT DOWN AND THE CONSULTANT ROUND TABLE ON FRIDAY , UH, WITH CONSULTANT CONNECT, AND WE MET WITH ALL VARIOUS CONSULTANTS THAT FLEW IN FROM CHICAGO AND DC AND IN, UH, CALIFORNIA AND GOT TO GET THEIR BUY IN ON ON WHAT ON WHAT? THEIR FEELINGS ABOUT MCKINNEY AND HOW YOU KNOW GOOD FEEDBACK AND WHAT WE CAN IMPROVE ON AND IT WAS A GREAT MEETING AND I HOPE TO SHARE WITH THE OTHER COUNCIL MEMBERS IN THE COMING WEEK. YESTERDAY WAS MAY 6TH. UM MY SON'S 10TH BIRTHDAY. I JUST WANNA WISH HIM ANOTHER HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERE. AND ALSO MAY 6 IS, UH, MY ELECTION DAY LAST YEAR, SO THIS IS A OFFICIALLY BEEN HERE ONE YEAR ON THIS

[00:15:02]

COUNCIL, AND I JUST, YOU KNOW, I APPRECIATE ALL THE FRIENDSHIP AND, UH NO, THE GUY THAT YOU GUYS HAVE GIVEN ME HERE ON COUNCIL. I JUST WANNA SAY THANK YOU. WE'VE HAD A BUSY COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE LAST COUNCIL SESSION GOT A CHANCE TO GO TO THE OPENING FOR OUR FBO TERMINAL, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY A BEAUTIFUL FACILITY. UM WANTED TO THANK THE STAFF FOR ENDURING ALL OF THAT PROCESS AND FOLLOWING, FINALLY GETTING US UP AND RUNNING WITH A FACILITY THAT WE CAN BE REALLY PROUD OF, UM ALSO ATTENDED THE, UH MCKINNEY EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY. UM WHICH IS A GREAT ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE KIDS ARE GRADUATING AND GOING OFF TO COLLEGE, MICHAEL KOWSKI FROM OUR E DC ACTUALLY HAD TO ANNOUNCE ALL THOSE NAMES IS NOT SOMETHING I'M ENVIOUS OF HIM TO HAVE TO DO , BECAUSE THAT CAN GET PRETTY COMPLICATED, BUT HE DID A GREAT JOB. UM BUT WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU TO THAT STAFF THAT HELPS TO MAKE THAT POSSIBLE. ON SATURDAY. I ATTENDED THE MIND BODY AND SOUL HEALTH FAIR AT THE HEALTH CENTER IN VIRGINIA. UM AND IT WAS ORGANIZED BY DR ELI, WHO'S BEEN A LONG STANDING PEDIATRIC PEDIATRICIAN HERE IN MCKINNEY, UM, LOTS OF VENDORS OUT BUT GOT TO BRING SOME SERVICES DIRECTLY TO ALL OF THE RESIDENTS HERE. SERVICES THAT ARE MUCH NEEDED. SO I WANTED JUST TO THANK DOCTOR ELI PUBLICLY FOR PUTTING THAT TOGETHER. AND THEN FINALLY HAD A BLAST AT THE BYRON NELSON. UM PARTICULARLY WANT TO THANK OUR FIRE AND POLICE AND MAKE US REALLY, REALLY LOOK GOOD. SO WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THE WORK THAT YOU'VE BEEN DOING. UH AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR SERVICE.

LESLIE CUNNINGHAM HAS COME AND SPOKEN TO COUNSEL ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS. AND ON ONE OCCASION, SHE TOLD ME TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR HER GRANDSON, JOAQUIN DE LA CRUZ, A DISTANCE RUNNER, AND MCKINNEY BOYD HIGH SCHOOL. AND HE TOOK THIRD AT THE STATE MEET. IN THE 1600 M FORMALLY KNOWN AS THE MILE. UM AND THE FINISH OF THE TOP THREE WAS ALL WITHIN ONE THIRD OF A SECOND. SO I'M THINKING IT WAS A MAD DASH TO THE FINISH LINE AND A GREAT RACE . VERY VERY PROUD OF OUR YOUNG ATHLETE, AND I'M SURE HE'LL BE OUT THERE REPRESENTING MCKINNEY AS HE MOVES ON PAST HIGH SCHOOL.

SOMETHING TO BE VERY, VERY PROUD OF. THANK YOU. I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TONIGHT. THANK YOU.

JUST LIKE TO GIVE THE SPECIAL ED C ABOUT THE B REGARDING THE BYRON NELSON. UM, IF YOU WERE IN THAT SUITE UM OVER THE BAR IN NELSON SAW HOW HARD THEY WORKED AND DILIGENT. THEY WERE HAVE CREATIVE AND HOW ORGANIZED THEY WERE. AND THAT IS THE UM THAT'S OVER AND ABOVE WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR. AND, UH, IT REALLY HELPS US. IT HELPS US WITH ALL OUR PEOPLE THAT WANT TO MOVE INTO MCKINNEY ALL OUR BUSINESSES. UH IT'S JUST A GREAT MARKETING TOOL, AND I LIKED IT. THANK THEM FOR WHAT THEY DID. AND ALL THE POLICE AND FIRE AND EVERYBODY THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE BYRON NELSON. IT WAS. IT WAS GREAT. ALL THE SALESMANSHIP CLUB WERE FRIENDLY. IT WAS JUST A GREAT EVENT. THANK YOU. UM MAKE SOME REMARKS ABOUT VONDA AND I WENT TO THE COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN. UM I'LL CALL IT A GALA. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THEY WOULD CALL IT, UH, ON SATURDAY NIGHT.

UM AND WE WERE REALLY MOVED. THERE WERE THREE ANECDOTES. I WANT TO SHARE. ONE OF THEM IS THAT RELATES TO BYRON NELSON? THAT IS THE THERE WERE SOME LEFTOVER BRISKETS SOMETHING LIKE 40 LEFTOVER BRISKETS ON FRIDAY FROM THE BYRON NELSON. THEY DONATED THOSE TO THE COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN. THE COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN IS FEEDING BETWEEN 121 180 MEALS A DAY OVER THERE, UH, JUST TO THE EAST OF HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL. THEY ARE A DEBT FREE ORGANIZATION, AND THEY RUN ON VOLUNTEERS AND THE SPIRIT OF THOSE PEOPLE WAS AMAZING. THEY SHARED TWO OTHER ANECDOTES THAT NIGHT THAT I THOUGHT WERE IMPORTANT. UM ONE OF THEM IS THAT THEY WHEN THEY FIRST OPENED , A WOMAN IN HER EIGHTIES WOULD COME IN A WALKER AND SHE WOULD SIT ALONE AND SHE HAD HER TABLE NUMBER. 73 IS WHAT THEY CALLED IT. AND THERE'S ANOTHER LADY IN HER EIGHTIES WHO WOULD SIT AT NUMBER 72? AND AFTER A WHILE, THEY STARTED SITTING TOGETHER. THAT AFTER A LITTLE WHILE LONGER . THEY HAD SOME OTHER LADIES IN THEIR EIGHTIES, JOINING THEM. AND THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THE SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS AND YOU KNOW WE ARE SOCIAL ANIMALS AND HOW THESE PEOPLE CAN BE ISOLATED, BUT THAT FEEDING UH, CHARITY IT WAS A MECHANISM OF BLESSING PEOPLE WITH A SPIRITUAL NEED. THE SECOND ONE MOVED ME EVEN MORE. AND THAT WAS A YOUNG LADY IN HER THIRTIES WHO WOULD COME AND VOLUNTEER THERE OCCASIONALLY, AND SHE WAS LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK AND ONE FRIDAY, SHE FOUND OUT THAT HER RENT WAS GOING UP $300 A MONTH. THAT MONDAY, SHE WENT TO WORK AND FOUND OUT SHE WAS LAID OFF. SHE THEN STARTED EATING AT COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN AND THEY SAW HER FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND DIDN'T SEE HER AND THEN UM

[00:20:05]

ANGELA, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN, WAS AT STREETSIDE SHOWERS AND SAW HER THERE AND NOT TAKING A SHOWER. BUT SHE WAS VOLUNTEERING AND SAID, YOU KNOW, HEY, I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU? AND SHE SAID, YOU KNOW, UM, WHAT MAYBE KEPT ME FROM BEING HOMELESS WAS THAT I WAS ABLE TO PAY MY RENT BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TO BUY FOOD BECAUSE I WAS EATING HERE. UH, WE ON COUNCIL HEAR A LOT ABOUT THE HOMELESS ISSUES HERE IN MCKINNEY, UH, BUT WE DON'T SOMETIMES THINK ABOUT, UH, THE GENEROSITY OF OUR 501 C THREE S, INCLUDING COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN THAT MAY PREVENT PEOPLE FROM BEING HOMELESS OR SPEED BUMPS IN THE WAY TO THEM BEING HOMELESS. THAT WAS REALLY MOVING FOR ME. V AND JASON WHO WAS WITH US THAT NIGHT. THANK YOU, MR MAYOR. WELL, LIKE THE OTHERS. I ALSO, UH WILL APPLAUD STAFF AND ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN IN SOME WAY, VOLUNTEERED OR SUPPORTED THE EXECUTION OF THE BYRON NELSON.

POLICE AND FIRE. TERRIFIC AS ALWAYS, I HEAR NOTHING. EVERY RED PANTS I COULD FIND. I WOULD GO UP TO HIM AND TALK TO HIM AND THANK THEM NUMBER ONE FOR BEING A MCKINNEY AND THEY THE THANKS WERE RETURNED EFFUSIVELY. THEY WERE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL AND HAPPY WITH WHAT EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN IN MCKINNEY, AND THEY CANNOT SPEAK HIGHLY ENOUGH ABOUT , UH POLICE AND FIRE NOT ONLY THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FOLKS, BUT EVERYBODY THAT THEY'VE DEALT WITH AND IT GIVES US GREAT PRIDE HERE. UM AS AN EXECUTIVE, UH, UH, TEAM WHEN WE HEAR FOLKS SEEING THE PRAISES , AND I'M SURE YOU GUYS SHARE THAT AS WELL, UM, THAT THAT MAKES THEIR LIVES EASIER. UM THE CDC, CINDY SCHNEIBEL AND THE WORK THAT THEY DID AND HAVING FOLKS AT THE, UM, THE SUITE THAT IS PROVIDED TO THE CITY AND THE CDC, THE ED C, OF COURSE, AND THE WORK THAT THEY'VE DONE. WE THINK ABOUT THE WORK THAT THEY PROVIDE OR THE WORK THAT THEY DID WITH, YOU KNOW, ENTERTAINING . UH, PROSPECTS UM AND INTRODUCING. IT'S REALLY CREATING THE CONNECTIONS. UM WHERE WE HAVE OUR EXISTING FOLKS IN THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY MEETING WITH SOME OF THE FOLKS FROM SOME OF OUR PROSPECTS IN SEEING WHAT MCKINNEY IS ALL ABOUT, AND IT WAS SO WELL EXECUTED SO WELL ORGANIZED, BUT THAT WAS JUST PART OF IT BECAUSE THEY HAD MORNING EVENTS. THEY HAD EVENTS BEFORE THE IR NELSON STARTED THEN THEY WOULD HAVE DINNERS AFTERWARDS. IT WAS AN EXHAUSTING EXPERIENCE FOR THEM, I'M SURE. UM UM AND, UH, BUT THEY DID. THEY JUST DID AN AMAZING JOB, YEOMAN'S WORK AND, UM AND SHINED VERY WELL FOR MCKINNEY SO VERY, VERY MUCH APPRECIATIVE FOR ALL OF THAT AND ALL THE WORK THAT THEY DID. UH, THE CITY IS SEEKING RESIDENT FEEDBACK ABOUT FUTURE DEVELOPMENT AROUND THE FINAL ALIGNMENTS OF U S3 80 CORRIDOR AND SPUR 399 FOR ITS ONE MCKINNEY 2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN . THE ONLINE SURVEY IS AVAILABLE IN THE CITY'S WEBSITE UNTIL MAY, 10TH AND MCKINNEY TEXAS.ORG/2040 UPDATE AGAIN JUST A FEW DAYS LEFT ON THAT. ADDITIONALLY MCKINNEY RESIDENTS AND STAKEHOLDERS ARE INVITED TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON THE BUDGET. UH, STAFF HAS A WE HAVE A WE HAVE AN ONLINE TOOL OR EXERCISE THAT FOLKS CAN PART PAID IN. IT'S VERY HELPFUL TO GIVE NOT ONLY RESIDENTS SOME PERSPECTIVE ON HOW TO HOW TO ALLOCATE, UM BEFORE PRIORITIES FUNDS BUT ALSO GIVE US FEEDBACK. UH AND THAT IS , UH, ONLINE. UH, BUDGET SURVEY IS AVAILABLE ON THE HOME PAGE ON THE CITY'S WEBSITE THROUGH JUNE 7TH, AND THAT'S ALL I HAVE, SIR. RIGHT? I ALSO WAS AT THE MAF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS AND HOW GREAT IT IS TO SEE GAVE ALMOST $900,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AND, UH WHAT AN INCREDIBLE ORGANIZATION.

BENEFITING KIDS IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT CHESTNUT SQUARE CHARITY EVENT. UH, I WAS PULLED OFF.

WELL I FELT BAD, THOUGH THEY MOVED THE VENUE TO AN INSIDE VENUE. UM BECAUSE OF FEAR OF RAIN, AND IT NEVER RAINED. SO THAT WAS UNFORTUNATE, BUT HAD THEY KEPT IT OUTSIDE? I'M SURE IT WOULD HAVE RAINED. UM I ALSO HAPPEN TO KNOW DOCTOR ELI WAS AT THEIR THEIR 20TH ANNIVERSARY. I BUILT THEIR BUILDING IN ADRI ATTICA. AND WHAT A GREAT GROUP OF DOCTORS WHO ARE THERE? UM, AWESOME. I ALSO WANTED TO JUST AGAIN. I'VE SAID IT BEFORE. SHELBY. YOU KNOW THE JOB YOU DO.

AND HERE AT THESE MEETINGS? I MEAN, I KNOW THEY'RE RIVETING. I KNOW IT'S BETTER THAN YOU KNOW, CABLE TV AND ALL THAT, BUT, UM BUT YOU HAVE A REAL HEART FOR THE STUFF YOU CALL ME, YOU KNOW.

890 A NIGHT AFTER AN ELECTION TO GET TO GET, UH INPUT AND FEEDBACK. THE POINT IS, YOU'RE WORKING WEEKENDS NIGHTS MORNINGS , AND HE ALWAYS ALWAYS DO OUR COMMUNITY RIGHT BY PROVIDING ACCURATE INFORMATION AND JUST BEING OUT THERE AND APPRECIATE YOU DOING THAT. AND UH AND HOW YOU TAKE YOUR JOB VERY, UH, VERY SERIOUSLY. YOU DO IT VERY, VERY PROFESSIONALLY. UM AND STEVE, I AGAIN YOU'RE HERE AT EVERY MEETING. AND I KNOW YOU DO THAT, UH, AGAIN BECAUSE IT'S RIVETING, BUT ALSO BECAUSE YOU'RE ON THE TRINITY. UM UH, FALLS BOARD. I KNOW THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP ON

[00:25:04]

TOP OF WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CITY, AND I KNOW THAT YOU TAKE INFORMATION BACK TO THEM, AND THEY ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU AS SOMEONE ON A BOARD THAT GIVES UP A NIGHT EVERY EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS. AND I'VE SEEN YOU AT OTHER MEETINGS, TOO, NOT JUST OUR MEETINGS, AND YOU DO THAT BECAUSE YOU ACTUALLY CARE AND YOU'RE ENGAGED IN A REAL CONSTRUCTIVE AND POSITIVE WAY.

AND THAT'S SO ADMIRABLE IN TODAY'S WORLD, THAT'S NOT ALWAYS THE CASE. BUT YOU ARE THAT PERSON. UM I JUST WANNA TWO OTHER THINGS. ME DC. EVERYONE TALKED ABOUT ME DC. WE HAD A PROCLAMATION TODAY ABOUT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. UH, WEEK OR MONTH. WHATEVER WHATEVER IT WAS, I SHOULD KNOW. UM BUT TO WATCH. UH PAUL MENTIONED THE DINNERS AFTERWARDS. I WAS AT SEVERAL OF THOSE DINNERS AND, UH, THE CONSULTANT CONNECTED WHERE WE HAD FOUR OR FIVE. SITE SELECTORS COMPETITORS BUT ALL IN THE ROOM TOGETHER AT A DINNER AND THERE JUST TO SEE MIKE TOWNY IN MADISON, AND, UH AND MISKI, UM AND BRIAN LOCKMILLER, WHO'S AT THE DINNER, JUST THE PROFESSIONALISM AND ENGAGEMENT AND THE, UH WAY THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO PROMOTE AND ADVOCATE FOR MCKINNEY AND THESE COMPANIES WHO PROBABLY WOULD NOT NORMALLY ALWAYS BE IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER, WILLING TO BE BECAUSE IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT A CITY THAT THEY KNOW IS A PLACE THEY SHOULD BE IN OR SHOULD BE IN. AND THEN WE HAD A REVIEW OF OUR CITY MANAGER. UM WE'VE ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT OUR CITY MANAGER A LOT WELL BEHIND HIS BACK ALL THE TIME. UM SO IT WASN'T JUST IN THOSE MINUTES IN EXECUTIVE SESSION. BUT BUT THE FACT IS WE, UH, THE CITY NOT MANY PEOPLE PROBABLY UNDERSTAND AND KNOW HOW. HOW LUCKY WE ARE. HOW BLESSED WE ARE TO HAVE A CITY MANAGER, UM AND ALL OF THE STAFF, BUT I'LL FOCUS ON PAUL THAT, UH, NUMBER ONE IS CAPABLE AS HE IS. I MEAN, HE'S TREMENDOUSLY CAPABLE AND EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE GUY IN ALL THINGS, UM, CITY, ALL THINGS MUNICIPAL GOVERNANCE, AND, UH, HE IS JUST AN INCREDIBLE PRESENCE IN THE CITY HE HAS HELPED CREATE LED THE CREATION OF A RAN A VERY NEW MOTIVATING CULTURE IN THE COMMUNITY. UM IN OUR IN OUR ORGANIZATION AND HAS HIRED GREAT STAFF. WE HAVE PAUL TO THANK FOR MICHAEL KOWSKI AND KIM FLOM, WHO HE KNEW FROM PREVIOUS LIVES, AND JOE MAZZOLA AND SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HE'S HE'S REALLY BROUGHT IN TO BOLSTER THAT DEPARTMENT. AND I WOULD JUST TELL EVERYONE PUBLICLY THAT WE AS A COUNCIL WHO HAVE AN INTIMATE VIEW OF PAUL AND AN INTIMATE, UM, SEAT. AT THE TABLE TO WATCH ALL THAT HE HAS TO DO AND ALL THAT HE ACCOMPLISHES AND, UH AND WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE HIM. SO THANK YOU FOR JUST AS I WAS COMING TO TERMS WITH MY IMPOSTER SYNDROME. YOU HAD TO DO THIS. YOU DID SAY WHEN I WHEN I JOKED BEFORE AND SAID, CAN WE HAVE HIM REMOVED? IT WAS AFTER A REVIEW DISCUSSION . HE THOUGHT OH, MY GOSH. ARE THEY REMOVING ME? DOES THAT MEAN WHAT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE REVIEW ? UH BUT WE REALLY ARE. WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU, PAUL. WE'VE BEEN WITH THAT MOTION TO ADJOURN. ALL IN FAVOR. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
