BUT IT'S[CALL TO ORDER]
GOOD MORNING.WE ARE MEETING AT CITY HALL IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS, LOCATED AT 2 2 2 NORTH TENNESSEE STREET IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS.
TODAY IS TUESDAY, AUGUST 27TH, 2024, AND IT IS 8:02 AM TODAY WE ARE JOINED BY BOARD MEMBERS, EMILY MCCLURE, PATRICK MCGUIRE, WHITNEY NASH, REM WINDHAM, AND BRIAN MEDINA.

[CONSENT ITEMS]

[Board and Liaison Reports City of McKinney MEDC MCDC McKinney Main Street / MPAC McKinney Parks and Recreation Visit McKinney Finance Committee Visit McKinney Marketing Committee]
REPORTS.CONSENT ITEM TWO FOUR DASH 1 9 0.
PATRICK COYIER, DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO SAY? YEAH, I'LL GO.
UM, PATRICK CLAUDIER, CITY COUNCIL, THREE THINGS FROM THE CITY.
TONIGHT IS MY LEAST FAVORITE JOB ON CITY COUNCIL WHEN WE DO BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS.
WE HAVE SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE HERE.
I AM SO SORRY THAT WE'RE LOSING EMILY MCCLURE OFF THIS BOARD THOUGH.
UM, YOU'VE BEEN JUST MAGNIFICENT.
THEN I CAN GET BACK ONTO FUN STUFF LIKE EMINENT DOMAIN.
UM, THEN NEXT WEEK WE ARE TACKLING THE BUDGET.
UH, WE'VE BEEN, WE HAD ONE, UM, PUBLIC HEARING LAST WEEK FOR THE BUDGET, AND SO THAT'S ALL PUBLISHED.
I'M HAPPY TO TALK TO ANYBODY ABOUT THE BUDGET, BUT WE WILL LOOK PAST THAT NEXT WEEK.
AND THEN THE FINAL THING IS THAT THE CITY COUNCIL GOT TO TAKE A TOUR OF THE NEW CITY HALL LAST WEEK.
AND, UH, BOY THAT'S MAGNIFICENT.
AND I'M KIND OF A, A FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION GUY MYSELF IN MANY WAYS.
AND, AND THAT IS GONNA BE SUCH A FUNCTIONAL PLACE THAT WE CAN GET ALL THE EMPLOYEES, UH, BY AND LARGE, UM, UNDER ONE ROOF AND, UH, GROW AND MAKE IT WORK.
AND IT'S JUST GONNA BE A GREAT PLACE, I THINK.
AND SOME OF THE VIEWS ARE JUST MAGNIFICENT OF WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON ON THE EAST SIDE.
SO UNLESS THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME, I WILL STAND DOWN FOR, UM, THE A TEAM.
PAUL GRIMES, WHEN IS, UH, IS THERE A, UH, AN ESTIMATED OPENING DATE? YEAH.
UM, I THINK WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN IS THAT, UH, WE'RE GONNA BE MOVING, WE HOPE TO TAKE OCCUPATION OF IT IN, IN OCCUPY IT STARTING IN JANUARY, AND THE FIRST CITY COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE THERE IN FEBRUARY.
MR. DIRECTOR, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.
UH, A COUPLE OF THINGS TO ADD.
JUST, UM, UM, COUNCILMAN CLAUDIER, HIT A COUPLE OF HIGHLIGHTS AND THAT'S GREAT.
UH, BUDGET, UH, JUST A LITTLE MORE DETAIL.
EFFECTIVE RATE WILL BE, UM, IT'S CALLED THE NO NEW REVENUE RATE.
NOW, UH, NO NEW REVENUE REVENUE RATE WILL BE PLUS 2.9699999999999998%, SO ZERO PLUS 2.9699999999999998%.
THE NO NEW REVENUE RATE IS BASICALLY IF YOU'VE GOT NO NEW REVENUE AND THEN YOU ADD 2.9699999999999998%, UH, TO THAT, UM, WE, WE AIM TO TRY TO STAY, UM, BELOW THE RATE OF INFLATION.
AND WE'VE DONE THAT IN THE LAST NUMBER OF YEARS.
I THINK ALMOST EVERY BUDGET THAT WE'VE SUBMITTED, UH, AT LEAST SINCE I'VE BEEN ON BOARD, UH, HAS BEEN BELOW THE RATE OF INFLATION.
AND WHEN YOU ADJUST FOR INFLATION, IT'S ACTUALLY REDUCING YOUR BUDGET.
AND I KNOW A LOT OF FOLKS WILL SAY, WOW, YOU KNOW, THE NUMBER WENT UP.
YEAH, BUT THE RATE OF INFLATION WENT HIGHER.
UM, WE HAVE TO MAKE UP FOR THAT.
UM, AND WE TYPICALLY MAKE UP FOR THAT THROUGH, THERE'S TWO WAYS TO DO IT.
YOU EITHER REDUCE YOUR SERVICES TO CUT YOUR COST TO BE ABLE TO MAKE UP FOR THAT INFLATION.
WE'RE A FULL SERVICE COMMUNITY AND WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN THAT, OR YOU INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY.
WE FOCUS ON PRODUCTIVITY INCREASES.
WE DO THAT BY BUYING MODERN EQUIPMENT THAT ALLOWS US TO DO MORE WITH LESS.
I HAVE, UM, I HAD THE, THE PLEASURE, FOR EXAMPLE, TO, UM, VISIT OUR PUBLIC WORKS FOLKS OUT IN THE FIELD.
THEY JUST A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT THINGS THEY DO USING DRONE TECHNOLOGY TO FIND LEAKS.
IT'S A LOT MORE EFFICIENT WAY TO DO IT.
THEY, THEY HAVE A HEAT SENSOR.
THEY CAN ACTUALLY FIND THE HEAT SIGNATURES.
UM, IN THE CASE OF WATER, IT'S COLD
[00:05:01]
SIGNATURE.THEY CAN IDENTIFY WHERE THE WATER MUST BE BECAUSE IT'S COLDER.
UM, AND, UH, FINDING MUCH MORE EFFICIENT WAYS LIKE THAT.
THEY USE A TECHNOLOGY THAT'S BASED OUT OF, UM, IT'S AN AI TYPE OF TECHNOLOGY THAT'S BASED OUT OF RADAR AND SPACE, BELIEVE IT OR NOT.
IT'S A COMPANY THAT HAS A TECHNOLOGY THAT PINGS AND YOU CAN IDENTIFY AREAS WHERE YOU MIGHT BE MORE FORTUITOUS TO FIND LEAKS.
AND THEN THEY TAKE THE DRONE AND THEY FIND IT.
AND IT'S A MUCH MORE EFFICIENT WAY THAN JUST SENDING SOMEBODY OUT ON A, ON A, UH, WHAT DO THEY USED TO CALL THAT IN THE MIDWEST? YOU KNOW, UM, UH, YOU CAN GO ON, UH, THOSE HUNTS, YOU KNOW, FOR A, AN ANIMAL THAT'S MAKE BELIEVE.
ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THAT IS? SNIPE.
THEY WANT A SNIPE HUNT SOMEWHERE,
UH, SO IT'S A MUCH MORE EFFICIENT WAY TO USE THE TIME.
UH, WE HAVE A, WE HAVE A REALLY COOL, UH, PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT ALLOWS THEM TO FILL ONE PERSON IN A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT TO FILL A POTHOLE.
AND WE SET A RECORD FOR POTHOLES FILLED, UH, IN THE MONTH OF JULY, I BELIEVE IT IS 460 POTHOLES WERE FILLED.
UH, YOU'LL SEE 'EM AROUND TOWN BECAUSE THEY LOOK LIKE A LITTLE BIT OF A, IT'S A, IT'S A TAR WITH A GRAVEL, ALMOST LIKE TAR, TAR CHIP THEY CALL IT.
BUT THAT'S HOW THEY USE THAT TO FILL THE AGGREGATE TO FILL THE POTHOLE.
IT'S ACTUALLY FASCINATING TO WATCH.
YOU GOT LIKE A LITTLE BLOW DRYER, YOU KNOW, A LITTLE, A LITTLE THING THAT BLOWS AIR.
IT ACTUALLY IS FOR CLEANING, BLOW THE POTHOLE CLEAN AND THEN THEY FILL IT AND IT'S REALLY PRETTY COOL TO WATCH.
BUT THOSE ARE EXAMPLES OF PRODUCTIVITY INCREASES.
FEWER PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO DO MORE THINGS WHEN YOU HAVE THOSE TYPES OF PRODUCTIVITY INCREASES.
SO, UM, THE BUDGET ITSELF IS $219 MILLION IN THE GENERAL FUND, ABOUT A LITTLE OVER $800 MILLION TOTAL BUDGET THAT ALL FUNDS.
WHAT ARE THE ALL FUNDS? WELL, THAT'S WATER.
THAT'S YOUR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AMONG OTHERS.
THAT COMPRISES YOUR GENERAL FUND PLUS THE OTHER FUNDS TO EQUAL THE TOTAL BUDGET.
SO WE'RE GONNA BE CLOSE IN A FEW YEARS.
WE'RE GONNA BE OVER A BILLION DOLLARS, UH, FOR OUR TOTAL BUDGET ANYWAY.
UM, WE HAVE A TOURS ONE MEETING TONIGHT, UH, AS WELL AT 3:00 PM THE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS THAT COUNCILMAN CLAUDIER WAS TALKING ABOUT STARTS AT 3:30 PM UM, SO, UH, THE TOURS ONE MEETING'S GONNA CONSIDER AN ITEM, UH, FOR REGARDING THE FLOUR MILL, UH, SOME MAINTENANCE, UH, PROJECT THAT WOULD BE ELIGIBLE.
AND THEN THEY'RE ALSO GONNA EVALUATE SOME CHANGES TO THE PROJECT PLAN, THE TOURS PLAN TO ALLOW FOR SOME MORE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RELATED ACTIVITIES.
SO THOSE MAY BE GERMANE TO CVB.
SO STAY TUNED AND SEE HOW THAT ALL SHAPES OUT.
UM, WE HAVE, UH, A COMMUNITY RESOURCE DIRECTORY ON OUR WEBSITE.
IT'S A LIST OF AGENCIES THAT CAN BE FOUND UNDER OUR CITY DIRECTORY.
IT'S CALLED CITY MCKINNEY COMMUNITY RESOURCE DIRECTORY.
UM, AND YOU CAN FIND ACCESS TO LOTS OF DIFFERENT COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, UM, THAT CAN HELP AND PROVIDE ASSISTANCE.
SO, YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO FIND 100 MCKINNEY IS A GREAT RESOURCE, BUT THIS IS ANOTHER WAY, UM, TO FIND OUT RESOURCES FOR THE COMMUNITY.
AND I THOUGHT I HAD ONE MORE ITEM.
I BELIEVE THAT WAS THE ONE I TALKED ABOUT WITH THE RECORD SETTING MONTH FOR POTHOLES.
I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTION.
BRADFORD, GOOD MORNING ON MISS SALTY ON THIS MORNING WHERE WE ARE NOW BELOW 105.
ALRIGHT, DEBORAH BRADFORD MCKINNEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION HAVE A FEW BRIEF ITEMS, OUR PROMOTIONAL AND COMMUNITY EVENTS GRANT CYCLE TWO.
OUR BOARD ACTION WAS TAKEN, UH, AT THE JULY MEETING, AND YOU'LL FIND THE SUMMARY ATTACHED.
THE PROJECT GRANT CYCLE CYCLE THREE PUBLIC HEARINGS WERE HELD AT OUR LAST MEETING ON LAST WEEK, LAST THURSDAY.
AND YOU'LL FIND THAT SUMMARY ATTACHED AS WELL.
AND WE HAD TWO RETAIL INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS, UH, PRESENTATIONS ON LAST THURSDAY.
AND THEN, UM, YOU'LL FIND THAT SUMMARY ATTACHED AS WELL.
AND THAT'S IT, AND I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS, ANYONE.
UH, VISIT MCKINNEY BOARD, UH, ANDREW JONES, CULTURAL DISTRICT DIRECTOR.
UM, FIRST OFF, UH, WE HAD A BUSY AUGUST ALREADY.
WE HAD A GREAT CLASSIC CAR SHOW.
HOPEFULLY Y'ALL HAD A CHANCE TO, SOME OF Y'ALL HAD A CHANCE TO COME OUT TO SEE THAT.
WE PAIRED IT WITH A RISE IN SHOP SHOPPING EVENT, AND WE HAD OVER 150 CLASSIC CARS, UM, PHENOMENAL CARS.
AND THEN WE HAD OVER 2000, UH, ATTENDEES FOR THAT EVENT.
SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.
UM, SPECIAL THANK YOU TO VISIT MCKINNEY FOR PARTNERING WITH US ON THE DOWNTOWN SCAVENGER HUNT.
SO YOU MIGHT HAVE STARTED SEEING SOME OF THAT LEAK OUT.
UM, THERE ARE TWO, BASICALLY WE ARE GIVING WAY OVER $11,000 WORTH OF PRIZES, UH, THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND.
[00:10:01]
KIND OF TWO DIFFERENT WAYS TO PLAY.ONE IS, UH, YOU CAN FIND, UH, BOTH SILVER AND GOLD COINS HIDDEN THROUGHOUT, ALMOST LIKE AN EASTER EGG HUNT, RIGHT? THAT'S, THAT'S THE EASY WAY TO PLAY.
AND THEN THERE'S THE SC AND THEN WE HAVE A GRAND PRIZE OF $2,500.
AND THAT IS, UH, MORE OF A SCAVENGER HUNT WHERE YOU HAVE TO SOLVE CERTAIN CLUES THAT, AND YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW VISIT MCKINNEY AND, UM, MCKINNEY MAIN STREET'S, SOCIAL MEDIA TO GET ADDITIONAL HINTS AND CLUES.
UM, BUT WE'RE EXCITED TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE COME OUT FOR THAT.
UM, WE DID A LITTLE BIT OF A PROMO YESTERDAY.
UH, WE HIT ONE COIN FOR 50 BUCKS AND IT WAS FOUND WITHIN ABOUT FIVE, 10 MINUTES
SO, UH, WE'LL SEE HOW
UM, BUT WE'RE EXCITED FOR THAT.
WE ARE GEARING UP FOR OCTOBERFEST, AS YOU KNOW.
UM, WE HAVE, UH, A BRAND NEW TITLE SPONSOR THIS YEAR.
SO THOMAS AUTO GROUP, UH, CAME IN AS A TITLE SPONSOR, WHICH WE'RE VERY, UH, GRATEFUL FOR THEIR PARTNERSHIP.
UM, WE ALSO HAVE AN OFFICIAL MEDIA SPONSOR WITH LOCAL PROFILE.
AND THEN, UM, WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE, UH, NO CHEF NOAH HESTER FROM HAM'S MEAT MARKET IS OUR VIP, UM, CHEF THIS YEAR.
SO, UH, WE EXPECT, UH, GREAT THINGS FROM HIM.
UM, OVERALL, UH, YOU KNOW, WE ARE KIND OF RELAUNCHING, UH, A NEW BRAND FOR OCTOBERFEST AND WE'RE EXCITED TO, TO KIND OF ROLL THAT OUT THIS YEAR.
UM, AND WITH THAT, I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS.
I, I SAW YOU ON THE NEWS, BY THE WAY.
YOU WEARING A HAT? NO, HE WASN'T WEARING ONLY FOR VERY SPECIAL OCCASIONS.
I WILL SAY THOUGH, YOU KNOW, YOU MENTIONED SNIPES.
THE ONLY TIME I, I REMEMBER A SNIPE IS ON THE PIXAR MOVIE UP.
THAT'S, THAT'S, THAT'S, THAT'S G ONE.
MCKINNEY PARKS AND REC, EMILY MCCLURE.
THE LAST PARKS AND REC MEETING WAS ON JULY 11TH, BUT THAT WAS, WE HAVEN'T HAD A MEETING SINCE THEN.
THEY WERE REFERENCED THE JUNETEENTH EVENT, WHICH HAD 2000 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE, WHICH THEY WERE PLEASED ABOUT.
HAD 12,000 IN ATTENDANCE, WHICH WAS REALLY EXCITING.
THEY'RE EXPLORING SOME OPTIONS FOR AFTER EVENTS DUE TO EVERYONE LEAVING AT THE SAME TIME AFTER FIREWORKS.
SEEMS TO BE A HEADACHE FOR MOST.
THE PROJECTS IN THE PARKS DEPARTMENT ARE NUMEROUS RIGHT NOW.
THEIR PRIORITY IS IRWIN PARK, GRAY BRANCH AND GREENS MCKINNEY, AS WELL AS A NEW TREE SCULPTURE, FINCH PARK.
UM, WE ARE ACTUALLY GONNA START SOMETHING NEW THIS MONTH FOR THE BOARD.
UH, WE ARE STILL, WE MEET AS A FINANCE COMMITTEE, BUT, UM, WE'RE GONNA FOLLOW THE SUIT WITH MEDC AND MCDC AND HAVE STAFF PRESENT THE NUMBERS.
UM, THESE ARE THINGS THAT, UH, WE LOOK AT ALL THE TIME, AND SO WE THINK IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO, UM, PRESENT THAT FOR YOU GUYS.
AND SO I'M GONNA DO IT THIS MONTH, UM, BUT STARTING NEXT MONTH, I'M PROBABLY GONNA PASS IT TO A TEAM MEMBER AND HAVE THEM, UH, PRESENT FOR YOU GUYS.
SO WE'LL START HERE, UM, ON THE, THE BALANCE SHEET, AND WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT PAGE.
AND THIS WILL SHOW THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY 83% THROUGH THE PHYSICAL YEAR AT THE END OF, UM, THE JULY MONTH.
UM, AS FAR AS OUR EXPENSES GO DOWN IN THE KIND OF LIGHT BLUE CATEGORY, AT THE END OF THIS MONTH, WE WERE AT 77% OF OUR BUDGET SPENT.
UH, AND THEN WE REALLY HAVE ABOUT, UH, WELL, WE'LL HAVE AUGUST NEXT MONTH FOR YOU GUYS, BUT WE'RE GETTING CLOSE TO THE END OF OUR PHYSICAL YEAR AS FAR AS WHAT WE'RE ABLE TO DO, UM, BUDGET WISE.
AND SO WE'RE TRACKING ON OUR INTERNAL DOCUMENTS, RIGHT ON BUDGET AND, UM, PLAN TO, TO SPEND EXACTLY WHAT WE HAD.
UM, GO TO THE NEXT SHEET RIGHT HERE IS OUR HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX REVENUE.
SO, UH, WE ARE STILL TRACKING RIGHT AT THE 6.9, RIGHT AT THE 7% OR SO, UM, UP FROM LAST YEAR, WHICH IF YOU PUT A DOLLAR AMOUNT TO IT IS A HUNDRED AND ALMOST $167,000 HIGHER THAN WE WERE AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR.
AS FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY.
THE TWO MONTH WE DID NOT MEET LAST MONTH IS, UH, FOR OUR BOARD MEETINGS.
SO IF YOU LOOK AT BOTH OF THOSE, UM, WE WERE SLIGHTLY ABOVE, UM, LAST YEAR'S NUMBERS, BUT THOSE ARE SOME OF THE BIGGER, UH, REVENUE NUMBERS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.
SO, UM, MEETING THOSE EXPECTATIONS KEEPS US ON TRACK TO HOPEFULLY, UH, MAYBE SURPASS 3 MILLION BY THE END OF, UM, THE YEAR.
SO FINGERS CROSSED WE'VE GOT A COUPLE MORE MONTHS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
HOW ARE FORWARD BOOK LOOKING BOOKINGS? UH, SO, UH, AUGUST, YOU CAN SEE EVEN LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS, YOU, YOU SHOULD, WE, WE SHOULD SEE A LITTLE DIP IN AUGUST THAT'S JUST KIND OF TYPICAL WITH, UM, HOW OUR REVENUES GO.
UM, BUT UM, BUT I THINK WITH WHERE AVERAGE, AND WE'LL LOOK AT THIS IN JUST A SECOND, BUT I THINK WHAT WE'RE SEEING THE TREND IS ON THE AVERAGE DAILY RATE SIDE IS HIGHER.
AND SO, UH, MY EXPECTATION IS THAT, UM, WE'LL COME IN RIGHT WHERE
[00:15:01]
WE NEED TO BE THERE AND IF, AND IF WE STAY ON THIS TREND, UM, BEING UP ALMOST 7% ALREADY, I THINK, WE'LL, IF WE, IF WE MEET THOSE NUMBERS, EVEN AS LAST YEAR, WE SHOULD, SHOULD DO IT.AND NOW LET'S RUN, UH, GO TO OUR STAR REPORT.
IF YOU'LL, YOU, YOU CAN GO TO THE MULTIS SEGMENT THAT'LL SHOW EVERYTHING.
AND I KNOW IT'S SMALL, SO, UM, YEAH.
IF YOU LOOK AT, UM, OCCUPANCY THERE ON THE TOP ROW THAT IS MCKINNEY COMBINED, WE WERE AT 71.9% FOR THE MONTH, UM, WHICH ACTUALLY WAS DOWN, UM, AROUND 5% FROM, UM, PREVIOUS MONTHS.
AND, UH, AND SO OBVIOUSLY MY FIRST REACTION WHEN I SEE A DOWN OCCUPANCY IS I RUN TO ALL OF OUR NEIGHBORS TO SEE IF THAT WAS A TREND IN THE AREA OR IF IT WAS JUST US.
UM, AND YOU'LL SEE AGAIN THAT WE STILL HAD THE HIGHEST OCCUPANCY OF, UM, ALL THE, THE NEIGHBORS THAT WE TRACK, INCLUDING GEORGETOWN.
AND SO, UM, WHEN I WAS, WE WERE AT THE T-A-C-B-B CONFERENCE THIS YEAR, THEY HAD A OVERALL TOURISM PRESENTATION FOR THE YEAR, KIND OF WHAT'S TRAVEL DOING YEAR, UM, COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS.
ONE OF THE TRENDS THAT WE'RE SEEING, AND I THINK THAT OUR, OUR REPORT RIGHT HERE IS SHOWING THAT, UM, IS THAT YOU SAW THE, THE NORMALIZATION OF PRE COVID AND THEN YOU SAW COVID ON CHARTS, IT JUST GOES AWAY.
AND THEN ONCE COVID KIND OF, UH, WHERE TRAVEL OPENED UP A BIT, YOU SAW THESE EXTREME SPIKES WHERE IT'S LIKE PEOPLE JUST WENT OUT AND THEY STARTED SPENDING, THEY STARTED TRAVELING, THEY DID ALL THE THINGS THEY COULDN'T DO.
WHAT YOU'RE SEEING RIGHT NOW ACROSS THE BOARD IN THE UNITED STATES IS KIND OF A NORMALIZATION OF TRAVEL.
AND SO YOU'RE SEEING KIND OF A LEVELING OUT OF, STILL SLIGHTLY ABOVE WHERE WE WERE PRE COVID, UM, BUT NOT THESE LIKE, UH, ABNORMAL LIKE AMOUNT OF SPENDING.
AND SO, UH, THE AVERAGE OCCUPANCY ACROSS THE BOARD IN THE UNITED STATES IS 65%.
AND SO WE'RE STILL TRENDING WELL ABOVE THE AVERAGE, THE NATIONAL OCCUPANCY LEVEL.
BUT I DO THINK WHAT WE'RE SEEING NOW ON, AS A, AS FAR AS THE TREND GOES, WE'RE ALMOST FLAT OCCUPANCY WISE.
EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE WE'LL HAVE A LITTLE DIP DOWN, BUT WE'RE ALMOST FLAT WITH WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR.
UM, BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT AVERAGE DAILY RATES, THAT'S WHERE WE'RE ACTUALLY TRENDING UP.
UM, AND SO, UM, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE LOWER ON OCCUPANCY, WE WERE UP, UH, A DOLLAR.
SO, UM, WITH OUR AVERAGE DAILY RATE, SO WE'RE AT A HUNDRED, 180 4, AND SO THAT'S WHERE YOU START SEEING THESE THINGS.
LIKE OUR REVENUE'S STILL INCREASING AND WE'RE STILL MAKING MORE MONEY AS FAR AS WHAT THE CITY'S COLLECTING HOTEL OCCUPANCY WISE, EVEN WITH SLIGHT DIPS IN, UM, IN OUR OCCUPANCY NUMBERS.
AND SO, UM, THOSE ARE JUST THINGS WE'RE TRACKING IF YOU WANT TO DIG INTO IT.
UM, WE DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH ALL THE DETAILS.
WE OBVIOUSLY LIST OUT BELOW THAT TIER ONE, TWO, AND THREE.
SO IF YOU WANT TO REALLY PLAY WITH THAT AND SEE WHERE THE DIFFERENT, YOU KNOW, UH, PEAKS AND VALLEYS ARE, YOU CAN, YOU CAN DIVE INTO THAT INFORMATION.
BUT, UM, WE HAVE NOT ADDED ANY NEW HOTEL ROOMS, UM, COMPARED TO LAST YEAR.
SO THIS IS A TRUE YEAR OVER YEAR.
AND, UM, AND A GOOD COMPARISON OF, OF HOW WE'RE TRENDING.
TIER THREE IS PRETTY FAR DOWN ON REVPAR, IS THAT, UH, ARE THEY JUST STRUGGLING TO FILL THEIR ROOMS? IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE DOWN ON OCCUPANCY TOO.
AND TIER THREE, UM, IS, I, I WOULD PUT THAT WITH A LOT OF LIKE OUR, UM, CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY, YOU KNOW, HOUSING AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
AND SO, UM, THOSE ARE TYPICALLY NOT THE PROPERTIES THAT ARE ACTIVE IN COMMUNICATING WITH US.
THEY KIND OF JUST DO THEIR OWN THING.
AND SO I DON'T HAVE GOOD INFORMATION ON EXACTLY WHY THEY'RE DOWN, BUT I WOULD, I WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH, UM, CONSTRUCTION, UH, OR, YOU KNOW, POWER COMPANIES, THINGS LIKE THAT, THAT TYPICALLY PUT THEIR PEOPLE THERE.
YEAH, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE DOWN ON A DR AND OCCUPANCY, SO THEY'RE TRYING TO FILL 'EM, JUST NOT, UH, SEEING THE SAME DEMAND.
IS THERE A STATUS FOR THE HOTEL AT CRAIG DRIVE IN EL DORADO BY THE END? YEAH, I WAS GONNA ASK THAT QUESTION TOO.
UM, THE CRAIG DRIVE IN EL DORADO, SO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THE TRUE, TRUE PROPERTY I DROVE BY JUST THIS PAST WEEK WHEN I WAS OVER THERE AND I HAD, I SAW NO ACTION HAPPENING.
UM, SO IT WAS, I GUESS TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN I, WHEN WE MET, THEY HAD LANDSCAPERS OUT AND IT WAS ACTIVE AND BUSY, AND I THINK BETH EVEN WENT BY ONE DAY AND THERE WERE PEOPLE THERE PROBABLY A MONTH AGO, AT LEAST NOW.
UM, YEAH, THE POOL HAD WATER AND EVERYTHING, BUT THERE'S NO ACT, THERE'S NO ACTIVITY THIS RIGHT NOW.
UM, THERE'S STILL PLASTIC OVER THE WINDOWS.
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW HOTEL OFF OF 1 21? THE AC MARRIOTT HAS THEIR PARKING LOT PAVED, SO IF YOU DRIVE BY, THE PARKING LOT IS OUT.
SO NOW, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE STILL DOING PLUMBING AND THEY'LL, THEY'LL START FOUNDATION WORK, BUT THAT'S EXCITING TO SEE THAT IT'S
[00:20:01]
NOT JUST A BIG DIRT LOT ANYMORE.UM, AND THEN YOU'VE PROBABLY SEEN, IF YOU DRIVE DOWN 75 AT ALL ON YOUR NORMAL COMMUTES, THE AVID HOTEL IS MOVING PRETTY QUICKLY.
UM, RIGHT THERE, UM, BETWEEN, WELL, IT'S ON THE, UM, THE WEST SIDE BETWEEN, UM, THREE 80 IN VIRGINIA.
SO YOU'LL SEE IT KIND OF TUCKED AWAY, BUT KIND OF A DARK GRAY WITH A RED.
I NEED TO LOOK AT THAT, THAT BUILDING.
HOTEL DENISON LOOKS LIKE IT'S COMING ALONG.
DO YOU HAVE AN ETA FOR THAT ONE? THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE OPERATING BY OCTOBER, AND SO, UM, WE, WE'VE STAYED KIND OF IN COMMUNICATION WITH THEIR TEAM, AND ONCE WE HAVE GRAND OPENING DATES, WE'LL MAKE SURE TO GET A, A FULL INVITE OUT TO THE BOARD.
UM, BUT THEY, THEY'LL HAVE SOME CELEBRATIONS OVER THERE.
BUILTIN SITE SAYS, UH, THE TREE IS OPENING NOVEMBER, 2024.
I'VE CALLED THE NUMBER, IT GOES TO CORPORATE, SO
THAT'LL ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? NOVEMBER.
I'LL MOVE ON TO MARKETING, WHICH I BELIEVE IS YOU AGAIN, ACTUALLY, UM, UH, I WASN'T PLANNING TO PRESENT MARKETING, BUT EMILY, IF YOU HAVE ANY NOTES, AND I KNOW BETH, UM, CAN SPEAK TO OTHER THINGS AS WELL.
SO I MADE NOTES TODAY, SO I'M SUPER PROUD.
FIRST THANKS TO BETH AND AMBER FOR ALL THEIR WORK, BECAUSE A YEAR AGO SITTING IN THE SAME SPOT, WE HAVE REALLY INCREASED ON ALL LEVELS.
ANYTHING YOU LOOK AT THAT WE'RE PUTTING OUT IS PERFORMING WELL, IT'S AUTHENTIC TO OUR BRAND AND IT'S BEING RECEIVED WELL.
SO THAT'S A W IN MY BOOK, OUR NEWSLETTER OPEN RATE IS EVEN 30%, WHICH IS WILD.
ALL THE PLATFORMS ARE DOUBLING IN VIEWS AND ENGAGEMENT.
UM, IN REGARDS TO THAT, AMBER RAN AN AD SPEND CAMPAIGN AND DID AN A VERSUS B, WHICH IS SO WISE.
AND THEY BOTH PERFORMED WELL IN DIFFERENT ENTITIES.
ONE HAD HIGHER ENGAGEMENT, ONE HAD HIGHER CLICKS.
WE HAVE AN INFLUENCER EVENT ON NOVEMBER 2ND, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT WE'RE DOING THIS.
AND WE'VE REVAMPED A FEW THINGS IN REGARDS TO PAIRING THE BRAND OF THE INFLUENCER WITH THE SCHEDULE OR ITINERARY THAT THEY'LL BE TRACKING, WHICH MAKES COMPLETE SENSE.
WE WERE ENDING UP GETTING EIGHT DIFFERENT VIEWS OF THE SAME SHOP AT THE LAST ONE.
AND SO THEY'RE PIVOTING AND TRYING TO PAIR THAT BETTER, WHICH MAKES SENSE.
AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE A CLOTHING INFLUENCER PAIRED WITH A BOUTIQUE.
I'M REALLY EXCITED TO SEE HOW THAT ALL PLAYS OUT.
UM, AND ALL THE CONTENT NOW FUNNELS TO THE WEBSITE.
SO OUR WEBSITE CLICKS ARE HIGHER, WHICH IS REALLY SMART 'CAUSE IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL.
FOR THE NEW BUDGET YEAR, WE ARE HIRING AN AD AGENCY, WHICH IS NEW.
THEY ARE NAMED WEIR AND STEWART, YOU SHOULD LOOK AT THEIR WEBSITE.
THEY WERE, UM, IN CHARGE OF THE VISIT AUGUSTA BRAND AND THEIRS WAS IMPRESSIVE TO AARON AND THAT'S WHY THEY WERE IN THE RUNNING AND SELECTED FROM FIVE THAT BID.
THEY, THEIR JOB IN PHASE ONE IS TO REFRESH OUR BRAND AND TO GIVE INSIGHT FOR CONTENT THAT IS A BUDGET OF 30 GRAND WITH THREE PHASES IN THE ENTIRETY.
AND NOT EACH PHASE HAS THE SAME BUDGET QUESTIONS.
[Executive Director’s Report]
ON TO CONSENT ITEM TWO FOUR DASH 1 9 0 1 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT.ALRIGHT, THANK YOU MADAM CHAIR.
AND ON THIS ONE WE WILL PULL UP THE POWERPOINT PRESENTATION FOR DIRECTOR'S NOTES.
I WANTED TO PUT, UH, SOME PHOTOS AND STUFF WITH MY, MY REPORT FOR YOU GUYS TODAY.
AND SO, UM, YOU CAN, UH, WATCH YOUR SCREEN OR THE BIG T UH, SCREEN OVER HERE.
UH, I WANTED TO SHOW YOU A COUPLE THINGS.
ONE, UH, WE JUST TOOK FIVE STAFF MEMBERS TO, UM, T-A-C-V-B, WHICH IS THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU.
UH, THIS IS ONE OF OUR MAJOR INDUSTRY CONFERENCES THAT WE ATTEND EVERY YEAR, BUT I DO THINK THIS IS THE, ONE OF THE FIRST TIMES WE'VE TAKEN MOST OF OUR FULL-TIME STAFF, UM, TOGETHER.
AND SO, UH, IT WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR SOME, UM, TEAM BUILDING.
IT WAS ALSO THE LARGEST, UH OH, WHO'S DOING? THERE YOU GO.
IT WAS THE LARGEST, UH, CONFERENCE TO DATE FOR T-A-C-B-B.
THERE WERE 400 ATTENDEES, UM, AT THE CONFERENCE HERE IN AUSTIN.
AND, UM, UH, I WAS ALSO APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR A TWO YEAR TERM AT THIS ONE.
ALL OF US SPLIT UP THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
I PRESENTED ON A COUPLE PANELS.
UM, WE HAD STAFF IN MARKETING AND SALES AND, UM, ALL TYPES OF, UM, SESSIONS.
BUT I WANTED TO SHOW YOU GUYS 'CAUSE WE DO INVEST IN THINGS LIKE THIS.
IT'S A GOOD TEAM BUILDING OPPORTUNITY, BUT WE ALSO LEARN A LOT WHILE WE'RE THERE.
UM, IN THE SAME VEIN, UH, MARIE WOODARD WAS APPOINTED TO THE MPI, UM, TEXAS HILL COUNTRY BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
AND SO, UM, MPI IS MEETING PLANNERS INTERNATIONAL.
THEY HAVE, UM, SEVERAL DIFFERENT CHAPTERS.
AND SO SHE WILL BE SERVING, UH, ON THE BOARD AT, UH, THERE STARTING I THINK ALREADY ACTUALLY, UM, COME
[00:25:01]
OCTOBER, UH, I WAS ALSO SLATED TO JOIN THE TEXAS TRAVEL ALLIANCE BOARD.UH, SO THE ANNUAL MEETING IS IN OCTOBER AND THEY'LL OFFICIALLY VOTE, AND TECHNICALLY I GUESS THEY COULD VOTE ME DOWN, BUT, UM, BUT, UH, EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF, UM, BOTH OF OUR, UM, STATEWIDE INDUSTRY, UM, ORGANIZATIONS AND, AND REPRESENT MCKINNEY AND ALL THE EXCITING THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING HERE.
UH, ALSO SINCE THE LAST TIME WE MET BETH WENT TO FORT WORTH AND, UM, JOINED THE TEXAS BREWERY ROUNDUP CONFERENCE, UM, REPRESENTING MCKINNEY, UM, OUR BREWERIES AND THE FACT THAT WE ARE NOW A BREW, A DESIGNATED BREW CITY.
UM, THIS WAS A PROJECT SHE TOOK ON.
IT WAS INTENSIVE TO GO THROUGH THE KIND OF THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS.
UH, BUT THIS IS A WAY FOR US AS A CVB TO GET BACK TO, UM, TO THE LOCAL, UM, CRAFT BREW INDUSTRY HERE IN MCKINNEY AND, UM, PROMOTE WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER.
AND SO, UM, THAT COMES WITH ITS OWN LITTLE, I THINK YOU ALL GOT A STICKER AT YOUR TABLE, BUT IT COMES WITH ITS OWN KIND OF LOGO.
UM, IT CAME WITH A SIGN, AND SO WE'RE ACTUALLY GONNA PROVIDE THIS SIGN TO OUR LOCAL CRAFT BREWER SO THEY CAN HANG IT UP IN THEIR BREWERIES.
AND, UM, AND WE'LL CONTINUE KIND OF USING THAT AS A, A MARKETING ARM FOR US MOVING FORWARD.
BUT OBVIOUSLY TUFTS IS PHENOMENAL AND WE'VE GOT, UM, UH, FRANCONIA AND THEN EVEN UNION BEAR, UM, ONCE THEY OPEN TECHNICALLY IS, UH, A BREWERY OF ITS OWN.
AND SO, UM, WE'RE WORKING ON THAT.
UH, A LITTLE, UM, KIND OF SHORT HIGHLIGHT FOR YOU 'CAUSE THERE'S MORE TO COME ON THIS, BUT MCKINNEY IS GETTING AN NPSL SOCCER TEAM COME 2025.
UM, THEY'RE GONNA BE LOCATED IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA.
AND SO, UH, WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH OR SO, THERE'S GONNA BE A PUBLIC VOTING, UH, TO HELP CHOOSE THE NAME AND THE BRAND.
AND SO THEY WANT COMMUNITY, UH, SUPPORT BEHIND THE BRAND, WHAT THE JERSEYS ARE GONNA LOOK LIKE.
AND, UM, AND SO WE HOPE TO, WELL, WE'LL, WE'LL BE SHARING THAT INFORMATION, BUT WE HOPE THAT YOU ALL JOIN THAT.
AND, UM, THEY WANT THIS TO BE OUR TEAM AND THEY WANT THE COMMUNITY TO BE INVOLVED IN THAT.
THEY WILL PLAY AT RON PO STADIUM, BUT THEY WANTED TO SPECIFICALLY BE ON THE EAST SIDE OF HIGHWAY FIVE.
UM, LASTLY, UH, WE ALSO, THE CITY OF MCKINNEY PUT ON A FAIRLY LARGE EVENT AT TOWN LAKE A COUPLE WEEK, I GUESS A COUPLE WEEKENDS AGO NOW, UM, CALLED THE LOVE MCKINNEY EVENT.
AND, UH, WE HAD TWO STAFF JOIN.
UM, BUT THERE WAS REPRESENTATION FROM MOST DEPARTMENTS, I WOULD SAY.
I, UH, OUT THERE THAT DAY, IT WAS EXTREMELY HOT.
BETH AND ALICIA, UH, TOOK OVER ONE OF THE, ONE OF THE, UH, TABLES THERE AND WORKED THAT EVENT.
THE CAR SHOW WAS ALSO PACKED DOWNTOWN.
AND, UM, SO I JUST WANTED TO, UH, THANK OUR STAFF FOR GOING OUT THERE AND DOING THAT.
UM, I FEEL LIKE IN OUR, IN OUR WORLD, A LOT OF OUR, THE FRUIT OF OUR LABOR COMES DOWN THE ROAD.
IT'S NOT IMMEDIATE, AND IT TAKES KIND OF TIME TO SEE, UH, THE IMPACT OF GOING TO SHOWS AND REPRESENTING MCKINNEY.
AND WE'RE REALLY STARTING TO BUILD, UM, A NICE, UH, GROUP OF BOOKED BUSINESS FOR THE NEXT, UH, ONE TO TWO YEARS, UM, THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY.
UM, AND THIS IS A, A HUGE TEAM EFFORT.
EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON OUR TEAM TOUCHES THIS FROM MARKETING TO SALES, UH, AND, AND, AND BEYOND IN, IN THE CITY.
UM, UH, BUT I WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT A FEW THINGS FOR YOU.
ONE, WE ARE GONNA HOST A-T-A-C-B-B REGIONAL WORKSHOP IN ON NOVEMBER 7TH.
AND SO, UM, THIS IS ONE WAY TO, TO GET T-A-C-B-B HERE TO SHOW OFF THE COMMUNITY.
AND HOPEFULLY THAT IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FUTURE BUSINESS, WHETHER THAT'S A WINTER CONFERENCE OR WHATEVER IT MIGHT BE.
UH, LAST TIME WE MET, I HINTED AT A, A SECRET THAT I COULDN'T TELL YOU GUYS AT THE TIME 'CAUSE WE WERE WORKING ON IT.
THAT SECRET IS, UM, THAT WE ARE ON NOVEMBER 16TH THROUGH 17TH, UH, HOSTING THE BILLIE JEAN KING CUP PLAYOFF.
SO THIS IS A, UH, TENNIS MATCH.
IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH BILLIE JEAN KING, SHE'S ONE OF THE BEST, UH, FEMALE TENNIS PLAYERS.
UM, AND WE ARE GONNA, UH, UKRAINE IS THE HOST TEAM FOR THIS PLAYOFF, BUT THEY CAN'T HOST THEIR MATCH AT, ON THEIR HOME TURF, UM, DUE TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE.
AND SO THEY NEEDED SOMEWHERE AND SOMEBODY TO BASICALLY TAKE THEM IN AND BE THEIR HOST COMMUNITY.
UM, THROUGH A CHAIN OF EVENTS AND A FEW CONNECTIONS HERE AROUND, UH, AROUND MCKINNEY, ESPECIALLY MATT HANLIN AT THE, AT THE COURTS.
UM, WE WERE ABLE TO GET THEM TO MCKINNEY AND SHOW THEM OUR FACILITY AND THEY LOVED IT.
THEY LOVED THE INDOOR FACILITY.
THEY'RE GONNA ACTUALLY COME IN AND BUILD, RAISE SEATING ON THE INSIDE, UM, OF THE INDOOR COURTS AND HOST, BE ABLE TO HOST 1200 TO 1500 PEOPLE OR SO.
UM, FOR THE, FOR THE PLAYOFFS.
UH, THE NIGHT BEFORE THE EVENT, THERE'S GONNA BE A DINNER DOWN, DOWN, UM, WITH, UM, UH, THE GEORGE BUSH AND HIS FOUNDATION ON THE SMU CAMPUS.
AND, UH, IT'S REALLY GONNA BE A PHENOMENAL EVENT FOR MCKINNEY.
I I CONSIDER IT KIND OF A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO HOST SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
AND SO, UM, THIS WAS, AGAIN, SOMETHING I HAD TO KEEP SECRET FOR A WHILE, BUT IT'S OUT THERE NOW.
AND, AND WE'RE, WE'RE REALLY EXCITED
[00:30:01]
TO KEEP WORKING WITH THEM.THEY'RE ACTUALLY GONNA BE IN TOWN TODAY AND TOMORROW FOR A SITE VISIT, LOOKING AT SOME HOTELS AND, UM, HELPING US, UH, WITH A FEW MORE FACILITY, YOU KNOW, DISCUSSIONS.
GREAT JOB TEAM EFFORT TOO, BY THE WAY.
I'D SAY, AGAIN, IT TAKES EVERYBODY INCLUDING PARTNERING WITH PARKS AND RECREATION AND MATT HANLIN AND, AND, UM, CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE AND ALL TO PULL THESE THINGS OFF.
WE'RE ALSO WORKING WITH, UM, U 90 FOR THE INTERNATIONAL GIRLS CUP, UM, IN SPRING OF 2025.
THIS IS GONNA BE A MASSIVE SOCCER TOURNAMENT FOR MCKINNEY.
IT IS INTERNATIONAL BECAUSE THEY'LL HAVE AT LEAST 10, UH, 10 INTERNATIONAL TEAMS AS A PART OF THIS.
BUT THEY'RE EXPECTING BETWEEN 200 AND 230 TEAMS TO PARTICIPATE.
UH, AND THE, THE PICKUP, UH, THE HOTEL PICKUP THAT THEY'RE ANTICIPATING IS, IS EXTREME.
AND SO, UM, WE'RE WORKING WITH THEIR GROUP ON ALL THE DETAILS BEHIND THAT.
OF COURSE, YOU FOLLOW THAT UP, UH, WITH THE BYRON NELSON.
AND THEN WE ARE OVERFLOW, UM, FOR THEATER ON ICE.
AND ALLEN, THEY, WE ARE, THEY'RE EXPECTING OVERFLOW TO BE UPWARDS OF SEVEN TO 800 ROOM NIGHTS.
AND SO, UM, IN JUNE WE'LL HAVE OVERFLOW HELP WITH THEM.
AND THEN LASTLY, UM, THE SPORTS, THE INVITATIONAL CONFERENCE.
I DON'T KNOW IF Y'ALL RECALL, UH, MARIE AND I TRAVELING TO MESA, ARIZONA A COUPLE MONTHS AGO FOR THIS, UH, CONFERENCE.
UM, ONCE WE WERE THERE, WE, WE THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA, IT WOULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR MCKINNEY.
AND, UM, SO WE STARTED, UH, PURSUING THAT PRETTY HEAVILY.
UM, WE SUBMITTED AN RFP, THEY SELECTED US AS A SITE VISIT WITH, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER COMMUNITIES.
SO WE HOSTED THEM FOR A TWO DAY SITE VISIT, UM, WHICH IS A HUGE INVESTMENT OF TIME AND MONEY, UM, TO, TO GO THROUGH THAT PROCESS.
UM, WE FOUND OUT THIS WEEK THAT WE WERE SELECTED TO HOST THAT EVENT IN 2026.
AND SO, UM, WE ARE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THAT.
UM, AGAIN, I FEEL LIKE IF YOU CAN GET PEOPLE HERE AND THEY CAN EXPERIENCE THE COMMUNITY IN PERSON, UM, WE HAVE A LOT BETTER SHOT AT SECURING THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS.
AND, UM, SO THAT WAS AGAIN, A FULL TEAM EFFORT THAT THESE PEOPLE PUT ON UPWARDS OF SIX TO 10 CONFERENCES A YEAR.
NOT ALL SPORTS RELATED, ALL DIFFERENT GENRES.
SHE SAID THAT THIS SITE VISIT HAD ONE THING THAT SHE'S NEVER EXPERIENCED AT ANY SITE VISIT SHE'S EVER ATTENDED.
AND THEY DO THESE EVERY FEW MONTHS.
UM, AND THAT WAS SITTING DOWN WITH THE FULL TEAM, UH, THE FULL VISIT MCKINNEY TEAM AND MEETING EVERYBODY FACE TO FACE AND HEARING WHAT THEY DO AND HOW THEY WOULD BE IMPACTED IF THEY CHOSE MCKINNEY.
AND, UM, I THOUGHT THAT WAS SPECIAL.
AND ALSO HEARING THAT NO ONE ELSE IS DOING THAT, WE'LL CONTINUE DOING THAT AS WELL.
AND SO, UM, AGAIN, A LOT OF, A LOT OF STUFF HAPPENING, BUT, UM, I'M JUST REALLY PROUD OF OUR TEAM.
I'M GONNA ACTUALLY SKIP THIS ONE 'CAUSE WE TALKED ABOUT IT IN THE MARKETING UPDATE, BUT, UM, BUT, UH, AGAIN, MARKETING IS, UH, HELPING GET OUR, OUR NAME OUT THERE AND, UM, THEY'RE DOING A GREAT JOB.
AND THAT IS MY DIRECTOR'S UPDATE.
ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT? UM, I DON'T HAVE A QUESTION.
I JUST WANNA SAY, WELL, WOW, LOOK AT THE BOOK THINGS.
AND I WANNA SAY I'M SO PROUD OF THE STAFF MEMBERS FOR ALL OF THE BOARDS AND PANELS Y'ALL WERE SELECTED FOR.
IT'S JUST A TRUE TESTAMENT TO YOUR PASSION FOR WHAT YOU DO.
[Presentation on Zartico Geolocation Data]
OKAY, MOVING ON TO CONSENT ITEM TWO FOUR DASH 1 9 0 2, PRESENTATION ON ZICO GEOLOCATION DATA.ALL RIGHT, I'M TALKING WAY MORE THAN I LIKE TO TALK AT THIS MEETING.
UM, BUT, UH, BUT I'M GONNA TAKE THIS ONE TOO.
UM, IF BETH, IF WE CAN PULL UP THE POWERPOINT FOR THIS ONE AS WELL.
UM, SO I WANTED TO BRING THIS ONE UP TO YOU GUYS.
UH, IF YOU RECALL OUR STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION, ACTUALLY OUR VERY FIRST ONE, UM, WHICH IS PUSHING TWO YEARS AGO NOW, UH, ONE OF THE KEY DATA, ONE OF THE KEY GOALS WAS FOR US TO BECOME A DATA FOCUSED ORGANIZATION.
WE'VE DONE THAT IN SEVERAL WAYS, BUT ONE OF THE, UM, ONE OF THE BIGGEST WAYS WAS PURSUING A VENDOR TO HELP US WITH GEOLOCATION, SPEND LODGING DATA, AND SO THAT WE CAN REALLY EVALUATE VISITORS AND RESIDENTS AND, AND MAKE STRATEGIC DECISIONS BASED ON HOW WE DO OUR MARKETING AND HOW WE DO OURSELVES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
UM, AND SO WE MADE THAT A, A BIG PRIORITY AND, AND WE PURSUED IT.
WE CONTRACTED WITH A COMPANY CALLED ZICO, WHICH IS, UH, ONE OF THE PREMIER KIND OF, UM, TOURISM BASED, UH, DATA PROVIDERS.
AGAIN, THERE, THERE ARE SO MANY OF THESE OUT THERE RIGHT NOW.
UM, AND EVERY INDUSTRY KIND OF HAS A PROVIDER THAT'S TARGETING THAT
[00:35:01]
SPECIFIC INDUSTRY, WHETHER IT'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLANNING, UM, AND THEY ALL HAVE DI THEY ALL ARE GETTING THE SAME RAW DATA, BUT THEY'RE BASICALLY PUTTING THE STORY TOGETHER AND DELIVERING IT BACK TO THOSE CLIENTS IN DIFFERENT WAYS TO TELL WHATEVER STORY OR ANSWER AND NEED THAT THEY MAY HAVE.AND SO FOR US, IT'S RELATED TO VISITORS AND THAT'S HOW ZAKO, UM, KIND OF REFINES THE DATA.
I WANTED TO, UM, GIVE YOU A PRESENTATION OF WHAT IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE.
IF WE PULL A REPORT ON AN EVENT, AND IT'S VERY DIFFERENT THAN SOME OF THE REPORTS THAT WE'VE HAD IN THE PAST WHERE, UM, UH, THERE'S ONE PROVIDER THAT WILL JUST GIVE YOU A NUMBER FOR HOW MANY PEOPLE THAT THEY THINK ATTENDED AN EVENT BASED ON GEOLOCATION DATA.
OUR PROVIDER ACTUALLY REFUSES TO PULL THAT NUMBER BECAUSE THEY DON'T FEEL THAT IT'S STATISTICALLY ACCURATE TO USE GEOLOCATION DATA FOR A SMALL GEOGRAPHIC AREA, UM, FOR A, A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.
THERE'S A LOT OF RESTRICTIONS ON, ON HOW CELL PHONE DATA IS, IS, UM, DISTRIBUTED.
AND THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT DON'T, THAT THEY DON'T GET THE DATA FROM.
AND SO THEY'VE, THEY'VE GONE THROUGH A PROCESS WHERE THEY, UM, REFINED THEIR DATA TO THE POINT WHERE THEY'LL GIVE YOU A GREEN LIGHT ON THE FORM IF THEY THINK THERE'S ENOUGH DATA THERE TO, FOR THIS TO BE STATISTICALLY ACCURATE.
BUT IF THEY FEEL LIKE YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH THERE, IT'LL START GOING YELLOW OR RED, BASICALLY SAYING, I WOULDN'T USE THAT DATA ANYMORE.
AND SO, UM, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I APPRECIATE FROM THEM BECAUSE NOT ALL OF THESE PROVIDERS ARE DOING THAT WORK BEHIND, UM, HOW THEY'RE GIVING YOU THE, THE NUMBERS.
UH, THERE'S A HUGE, UH, THING AT THE TOP THOUGH THAT YOU NEED TO RECOGNIZE WITH, WITH ZICO.
THE, THE KIND OF THE NATIONAL DEFINITION OF A VISITOR IS SOMEONE WHO LIVES 50 MILES AWAY FROM YOUR COMMUNITY.
AND SO THEY USE THAT AS THE DEFINITION OF A VISITOR.
SO ANYTIME YOU SEE VISITOR SPEND NUMBER OR LIKE, UH, THE AMOUNT OF WHERE VISITORS WENT, THINGS LIKE THAT, THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE WHO LIVES 50 MILES AWAY FROM HERE WITH THEIR HOME ADDRESS, WHICH IS BASICALLY LIKE PUSHING OUTSIDE OF FORT WORTH FOR US.
AND SO YOU CAN IMAGINE BEING COLLIN COUNTY THAT A LOT OF OUR, LIKE WHAT WE CONSIDER A VISITOR AND OUR OWN PERSONAL DEFINITION ACTUALLY FALLS WITHIN THAT RESIDENT BUCKET BECAUSE WE GET A LOT OF DRIVE RADIUS PEOPLE WHO COME FROM, YOU KNOW, FORT WORTH INN, UM, TO EXPERIENCE MCKINNEY AND STAY OVERNIGHT.
AND SO, UH, I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT, 'CAUSE I WANT YOU TO, TO, UM, THINK THROUGH THAT AS WE TALK ABOUT THESE NUMBERS.
I HAD ZICA HELP ME PULL A REPORT BASED ON THE BYRON NELSON DATA, UH, FROM THIS PAST YEAR.
AND, UM, I'M GONNA SHOW YOU A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS.
UH, WE'LL STAY ON THAT ONE FOR A SECOND, BETH.
UM, WE'LL, UH, I'LL SHOW YOU A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS TO SHOW YOU HOW THIS LAYERS IN.
UM, THE FIRST THING BEING THAT THE CHANGE IN TOTAL SPEND IN THE COMMUNITY WAS UP 5.5% THE WEEK OF THE BYRON.
SO, UM, WHEN YOU'RE, WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIS, YOU CAN SAY, OKAY, SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING IN THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE SPEND OVERALL WAS UP.
UM, BUT THEN YOU GO TO THE NEXT ONE AND IT SHOWS THAT VISITOR SPEND WAS DOWN 13%, WHICH IS SHOWING THAT VISITORS FROM OUTSIDE OF 50 MILES WAS DOWN, BUT RESIDENT SPEND WAS UP ALMOST 8%.
AND SO, AGAIN, WHAT THAT SHOWS ME, AND IT'S NOT SHOCKING TO ME AT ALL, BUT THAT SHOWS ME THAT THE BYRON NELSON PREDOMINANTLY IS AN EVENT THAT DRAWS PEOPLE FROM WITHIN THE 50 MILE RADIUS.
UM, AND IN A, IN A LITTLE BIT, I'LL SHOW YOU THAT, THAT'S TOTALLY FINE BECAUSE IT'S WORKING FOR US, UM, IN DIFFERENT, IN DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.
UM, BUT IT'S GOOD TO KNOW BECAUSE NOW WE KNOW WHO TO MARKET TO AND HOW TO GO AFTER MORE BUSINESS.
AND MAYBE IT'S NOT GOING AFTER THAT OUTSIDE OF 50 MILES.
UM, AND THE BYRON HAS BEEN A DALLAS EVENT FOR MANY YEARS, AND SO IT HAS A KIND OF A REGIONAL DRAW.
UM, IT ALSO SHOWS THAT PREDOMINANTLY RETAIL SPEND WAS DOWN THAT WEEK.
RESTAURANT SPEND WAS SLIGHTLY DOWN, BUT THEN NIGHTLIFE AND ATTRACTIONS WENT WAY UP.
AND SO YOU HAVE PEOPLE, FOR ME, WHAT I READ THAT AS IS YOU HAVE PEOPLE WHO ARE STAYING AT THE BYRON NELSON MOST OF THE DAY, UM, ALL THE, AS FAR AS THE VISITORS THAT ARE IN TOWN THAT ARE NEW, AND THEY SPEND A LOT OF THEIR TIME, MONEY AND, UM, AND I GUESS, UH, THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL THEY CONSUME
AND THEY, THEY'RE BASICALLY GOING BACK TO LIKE MAYBE A BAR AFTER OR DOING SOME TYPE OF NIGHTLIFE OR AN ATTRACTION EVENT.
BUT THERE'S REALLY NOT A LOT OF SHOPPING OR RETAIL TIME.
IF YOU'RE OUT AT THE BYRON ALL DAY, ALL WEEK, YOU CAN SEE WHERE THEY SPENT THEIR MONEY THOUGH.
UM, AS FAR AS THE, THAT'S THE VISITOR SPENDING CATEGORY.
SO THAT'S THE PEOPLE THAT WERE FROM OUTSIDE OF 50 MILES.
THEY WERE ON FOOD, RETAIL, ATTRACTIONS, GAS, AND THEN THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF HEALTH.
UM,
THIS IS A, UM, ESSENTIALLY IT'S KIND OF A HEAT MAP, UM, THAT WE CAN PULL FOR SPECIFIC EVENTS, UM, THROUGH ZICO.
AND SO IN A SECOND, IF BETH, IF YOU CAN PUSH PLAY, THIS IS ACTUALLY A VIDEO.
[00:40:01]
THIS IS GONNA SHOW ONLY IN-STATE AND OUT-OF-STATE VISITORS.SO IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER, YOU CAN SEE THE GOLF COURSE, LIKE THAT GREEN SECTION.
I, IF I, I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN CIRCLE ON HERE.
UM, WHERE IS IT? SHOW ME RIGHT HERE.
YEAH, THE BOTTOM LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT HERE.
THAT IS THE GOLF COURSE IN THIS LIKE, KIND OF LARGE, THERE YOU GO.
AND SO YOU CAN SEE AS THE TIME, UH, ACROSS THE WEEKEND GOES UP, LIKE AS IT GETS TO LIKE MORE LIKE THE EVENINGS AND STUFF, YOU START SEEING LIKE A SPIKE THERE.
UM, AND IT KIND OF LIGHTS UP A LITTLE BIT LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE.
IT, AGAIN, THIS IS IN-STATE AND OUTTA STATE.
YOU ALSO SEE THAT IF YOU JUST SCAN THE MAP REAL QUICK AT DIFFERENT PLACES, UM, LIKE EVEN WHERE LIKE WALMART IS AND THINGS LIKE THAT, YOU SEE THESE LIKE SPIKES POP UP.
UM, SO THAT ONE'S KIND OF FUN NOW THAT LET'S, UH, GO TO THE NEXT ONE AND LAYER IT WITH THE RESIDENT DATA, WHICH AGAIN, WAS A BIG PART OF, OF THE, UH, AND SO YOU, IF YOU WATCH RESIDENT NOW AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE BYRON, YOU JUST SEE KIND OF THE GOLF COURSE, YOU KNOW, EXPAND WITH, WITH A BUNCH OF LIGHTS AND ALL DOWN IN LIKE THAT 18 HOLE AREA, UM, TO WHERE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE COURSE.
AND, UH, AND SO THAT'S KIND OF FUN, BUT IT, UH, IT'S A WAY THAT YOU CAN WATCH HOW VISITORS MOVE THROUGH, UH, THROUGH THE COMMUNITY WHERE THE HOTSPOTS WERE.
SO YOU SEE ALL OF OUR, OUR MAJOR ROADS ARE, ARE BUSY.
UM, THERE'S ANOTHER ONE THAT I'M ACTUALLY GONNA HAVE THEM, UM, DO FOR US WHERE IT'LL ACTUALLY TAKE ARCHES FROM THE COURSE TO WHERE THEY GO AFTER.
AND SO IT CAN SHOW US LIKE, ARE THEY GOING TO, YOU KNOW, HOW MANY WENT TO DOWNTOWN, LIKE HOW MANY ARCHES ARE GOING TO DOWNTOWN, OR HOW MANY ARE GOING TO DISTRICT OR HUB 1 21 OR JUST LEAVING AND GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE.
AND SO WE'LL CHECK THAT OUT, BUT THAT'S A, A NICE WAY TO LOOK AT IT.
SO THIS ONE IS SHOWING THE VISITOR, UM, UH, UH, THE, SO OF THE VISITORS OF THE PERCENT OF PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE OF 50 MILES, 52% OF THOSE, EVEN THOUGH THAT NUMBER WAS DOWN OVERALL, 52% OF THOSE WERE FROM OUT OF STATE.
UM, 41% HAD A HOUSEHOLD INCOME OF OVER A HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS.
AND THREE OF THE PLACES WITH THE HIGHEST INCREASED VISITOR NUMBERS WAS LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, WICHITA FALLS, LOTTON, OKLAHOMA, UH, OR WHICH, OR I'M SORRY, LET ME REREAD THIS.
UM, YEAH, UH, WICHITA FALLS AND LOTTON, OKLAHOMA HAD A 21% IN OKLAHOMA CITY, HAD AN ALMOST 12% INCREASE.
UM, AND SO AGAIN, NOW YOU'RE STARTING TO PUT PIECES TOGETHER OF HOW MUCH MONEY THE AVERAGE INCOME IS AND WHERE THE TOP PLACES THAT WE COULD DO OUT OF STATE MARKETING, UM, IF WE CHOOSE TO GO AFTER A SPECIFIC DEMOGRAPHIC, THE NEXT SLIDE, AND THEN LODGING DATA.
SO, UM, THIS IS, UH, THE LODGING DATA FOR, UM, ZICO GOES, COMES DIRECTLY FROM THE POS SYSTEMS OF THE HOTELIERS FROM THE MAJOR HOTELIERS.
AND SO WHERE STAR REPORTS ARE KIND OF SELF-REPORTED BY THE HOTELS TO THE STAR AGENCY, UM, THIS IS, THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM THEM.
AND SO NOW YOU'RE LOOKING AT, UM, HOTEL AND, UM, SHORT TERM RENTAL NUMBERS.
AND SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THE AVERAGE HOTEL VALUE WAS UP 36%, WHICH, UH, FROM $238 TO 323 UM, DOLLARS, UH, FOR THIS WEEK OF THE BYRON NELSON, THAT'S A BIG INCREASE IN AVERAGE, UH, STAY VALUE, THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF STAY WAS UP 2% FROM LAST YEAR.
SO ALL OF OUR AIRBNBS, UM, THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY, THEIR, THEIR AVERAGE STAY VALUE WAS UP A HUNDRED DOLLARS, UH, ALMOST $787 FOR THE WEEK OF THE BYRON.
UM, AND THEIR, THEIR STAY IS 4.7 DAYS COMPARED TO A HOTEL, WHICH IS, UM, TYPICALLY SHORTER.
UM, AGAIN, OCCUPANCY WAS WAY UP.
HOTEL DEMAND WAS UP, REVPAR WAS UP.
UM, AND SHORT TERM RENTAL DEMAND WAS SLIGHTLY DOWN.
IT SAYS, UM, BUT, UH, THEY ALSO SAID THAT WE HAD MORE SHORT-TERM RENTALS AVAILABLE THIS YEAR THAN THE SAME TIME, UM, LAST YEAR.
AND SO OVERALL, UM, IF YOU GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, BETH, OH, WELL THIS IS MY, UH, MATRIX.
SO LIKE, WHAT, WHAT DO WE REALLY SAY ABOUT ALL THIS? ALL THESE NUMBERS.
I I AM NOT A, UM, A DATA PROFESSIONAL.
I'M TRYING TO LEARN THIS THE BEST I CAN, UM, UH, USING THE RESOURCES PROVIDED TO US.
BUT, UM, IF I JUST TAKE IT AS SIMPLE AS I CAN, I LOOK AT THIS AND I SAY RESIDENTS BEING, ANYONE LIVING WITHIN 50 MILES OF MCKINNEY HAD A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT, ESPECIALLY ON THE LOCAL ECONOMY.
UM, VISITOR SPENDING MAY HAVE DECREASED
[00:45:01]
SLIGHTLY, BUT IT DID SHOW.UM, BUT THEY SHOWED UP AND THEY SP AND THEY SPENT MONEY AND STAYED AT OUR HOTELS.
AND SO, UM, OVERALL THE IMPACT OF THE EVENT IS HIGH.
AND SO WHAT CAN WE CONSIDER FOR FUTURE YEARS LOOKING AT THIS DATA? UM, WELL, WE CAN, UM, CAN FUTURE YEARS, UH, CAN FUTURE MARKETING ATTRACT MORE VISITORS FROM LOCATIONS WITH THE HIGHEST INCREASES IN 24? SO WITH LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, OKLAHOMA CITY, THOSE THREE PLACES THAT WE SAW HAD A BIG IMPACT, INSTEAD OF SENDING OUT KIND OF THE OVERALL MARKETING CAMPAIGN, WE'LL, WE COULD HONE IN ON THOSE KNOWING THAT THOSE PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY DRIVING HERE AND TRY TO INCREASE THAT, UM, OUT OF MARKET VISITOR NUMBER, UH, AND OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER, WELL, NEW HOTEL ADDITIONS LIKE HOTEL DENIZEN FOR NEXT YEAR, AND THEN AC MARRIOTT AT SOME POINT IN THE NEAR FUTURE, UM, HELP KEEP MORE OF THAT RESIDENT THAT THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE DRIVING FROM WITHIN 50 MILES, UM, AT THE EVENT.
'CAUSE THOSE TWO HOTELS WILL LITERALLY BE ALMOST ADJACENT TO THE, TO THE GOLF COURSE.
AND I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT, UM, WITH THE, THE, UM, THE PARTIES AND, AND JUST THE FUN THAT PEOPLE HAVE AT THE EVENT, HAVING THOSE RIGHT THERE COULD HOPEFULLY KEEP MORE PEOPLE OVERNIGHT AND ENJOY IT THE NEXT DAY.
AND THEN THE LAST ONE I PUT TOGETHER, UH, OH, SORRY, BETH.
UM, HOW CAN WE CONTINUE TO BUILD CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE EVENT AND PLACES LIKE DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY, HUB 1 21, DISTRICT 1 21 TO BOOST THOSE RETAIL AND RESTAURANT SPENDING? SO I'M SEEING THAT THOSE NUMBERS WERE SLIGHTLY DOWN.
ARE THERE, AND, AND I, AGAIN, I KNOW THAT THEY'RE OUT AT THE GOLF COURSE ALL DAY, BUT WHAT ARE, WHAT ARE WAYS THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO TRY TO, TO, UM, ATTRACT THEM TO THESE PLACES AND, AND BOOST THOSE NUMBERS, UM, BEFORE, AFTER WHATEVER IT MIGHT BE.
AND SO THOSE ARE JUST A FEW WAYS THAT, THAT I COULD SEE US USING THE DATA THAT WE JUST READ, UM, FOR NEXT YEAR.
UM, BUT I WANTED TO SHOW Y'ALL, UH, WHAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO US AND KIND OF HOW THAT CAN BE USED.
DID, UH, YOU GET ANY FEEDBACK ON THE DOWNTOWN DOLLARS THAT WE WERE, UH, GIVING OUT? I, UM, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE RAN A REPORT, ANDREW, ON WHAT WAS PICKED UP.
YEAH, IT WAS LESS THAN LAST YEAR.
THERE WAS, I THINK THAT, UM, YOU KNOW, I, THE DATA IS REALLY FASCINATING TO ME.
IT BRINGS UP A LOT OF QUESTIONS.
IT'S LIKE, HOW DO, WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF, UM, OUR SPACE THERE AND HOW DO WE GET PEOPLE TO SHOP AND COME BACK? YOU KNOW, I, I THINK IT IS A LITTLE BIT, UH, UNREALISTIC TO EXPECT SOMEBODY TO BE AT A GOLF COURSE FOR SIX HOURS AND THEN, YOU KNOW, GO AND SHOP AT A BOUTIQUE.
I, I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY NOT GONNA HAPPEN, BUT IT'S LIKE, WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO DO, UM, TO CREATE A RELATIONSHIP WITH A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME? AND I THINK SO, YOU KNOW, WITH THE DATA AND USING THAT AS A STARTING POINT, THINKING ABOUT WHAT A STRATEGY FOR NEXT YEAR IS GONNA BE FOR THINGS LIKE THE DOWNTOWN DOLLARS.
AND SO MAYBE IT SHOULD BE A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME FOR THEM TO SPEND IT TO COME BACK OR, YOU KNOW, EVEN, YOU KNOW, WE TALKED ABOUT BOUNCE BACK COUPONS OR WAYS TO INCENTIVIZE PEOPLE TO COME TO, TO SPEND THEIR MONEY AT LATER TIME, NOT NECESSARILY THAT WEEKEND.
SO, YEAH, I DON'T KNOW IF THE LOGISTICS MAKE ANY SENSE, BUT MAYBE EVEN LIKE A BOUTIQUE OF WITH REPRESENTATION FROM VARIOUS SHOPS AT THE, UH, LIKE POP-UP SHOPS THE EVENT.
WHERE ARE WE GONNA BE USING THIS DATA REGULARLY OR IS IT JUST FOR THE BYRON MILLS EVERY, UH, WE HAVE ACCESS TO THIS DATA, UM, ANYTIME.
THE ONE, THE ONE THING THAT YOU HAVE TO PULL WITH A SPECIAL, UM, YOU GET A CERTAIN AMOUNT PER CONTRACT ARE THOSE LIKE MAPS WITH ALL THE, THE LIGHTS AND STUFF.
UM, BUT THOSE ARE REALLY JUST A VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF WHAT THE DATA'S GIVING YOU.
SO I CAN PULL ANY OF THOSE OTHER NUMBERS FOR ANYTHING AT ANY TIME.
UM, AND, UH, AND THEN WE GET JUST MONTHLY REPORTS FROM THEM TOO THAT JUST SHOW, YOU KNOW, GENERAL NUMBERS AND STUFF.
WELL, WE CAN LOOK AT IT AFTER OCTOBER FEST, OR WE, THE 4TH OF JULY, AUGUST.
ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHING ELSE? NO.
WELL, JUST IN GOOD SHORT MEETING.
[BOARD AND DIRECTOR COMMENTS]
OR BOARD OR DIRECTOR COMMENTS IF ANYBODY HAS ANYTHING.EMILY, I WILL ADDRESS YOU NEXT.
I
UM, MAY I GET A MOTION? OH, DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING? YEAH, THIS IS OFF.
JUST, I NOTICED THAT IN, IN A LOT OF OUR SUBDIVISIONS, IT'S REALLY DARK.
YOU KNOW, WE DON'T HAVE STREET LIGHTS.
UH, WE MAY HAVE ONE LIGHT ON ONE CORNER.
UH, I'M WONDERING WHO DO WE, UM, HOW DO WE APPROACH THAT? 'CAUSE I HEAR A LOT OF, UM,
[00:50:01]
PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT, AND I WAS JUST WONDERING ABOUT THAT BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE NO, LIKE IN MY SUBDIVISION, WE HAVE ONE STREETLIGHT, YOU SUM THE CALL.WAS THAT HOW MANY LIGHTS WERE INSTALLED OR ARE THEY OUT? THERE'S TWO DIFFERENT, NO, NO, THEY, THEY'RE, IT JUST INSTALLED.
SO THE ORDINANCE, YOUR DEVELOPMENT CODE REQUIRES OR SETS FORTH WHAT TYPES OF LIGHTING YOU'RE GONNA HAVE.
AND IN MCKINNEY IT'S GENERALLY A FAIRLY, I WON'T SAY COMPLETELY, BUT A FAIRLY DARK SKIED COMMUNITY IN THE SUBDIVISIONS.
I DON'T KNOW WHICH SUBDIVISION YOU'RE IN, BUT I KNOW IN THE, UH, UH, IN THE WESTERN PART OF MCKINNEY WITH THE MASTER PLAN COMMUNITIES, IT WAS ONE THING THAT I NOTICED WHEN I CAME TO MCKINNEY WAS IT'S FAIRLY DARK
BUT IF YOU DO HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE OR WHATEVER, WHAT I WOULD SAY IS SEND AN EMAIL TO ME AND I'LL GET IT TO THE RIGHT FOLKS.
UM, AND, AND OF COURSE IF YOU HAVE LIGHTS THAT ARE OUT, THAT'S A MAINTENANCE ISSUE COURSE, AND WE CAN CERTAINLY SEND FOLKS OUT TO ADDRESS THAT.
BUT WE DO SOMETIMES INSTALL LIGHTS IF THERE IS A VERIFIED SAFETY ISSUE.
BUT IF IT'S REALLY JUST FOR LIGHTING IN GENERAL, THAT WAS KIND OF THE WAY THE SUBDIVISION WAS DESIGNED.
NOW, IF YOU'RE IN AN OLDER PART OF MCKINNEY ON THE EAST SIDE, THAT'S REALLY THAT, YOU KNOW, THEY, THEY WEREN'T DESIGNED TO THE MODERN CODE.
SO THAT'S JUST A MATTER OF DOING A SAFETY REVIEW TO SEE IF THERE'S WARRANTED.
IF THERE'S NOTHING FURTHER, MAY I GET A MOTION TO ADJOURN? MOTION BY EMILY? YOU MAY GET A SECOND.
MOTION PASSES, MEANING IS ADJOURNED AT 8:54 AM THANK YOU.
