PASSES, BOARD AND LIAISON UPDATES 24, 1967. MR. GRIMES, CITY OF MCKINNEY. GOOD MORNING, MR. CHAIRMAN. MR. PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD IS PAUL BRYAN, CITY MANAGER. I JUST UPDATE YOU ON AND THIS AFTERNOON, A WORK SESSION HERE IN THIS ROOM. WE WILL HAVE A DISCUSSION ON THE GENERAL PUBLIC SAFETY. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE DISCUSSION ON ALL CARS AND THAT IN PARTICULAR. WHAT HAS GIVEN RISE TO THAT IS SOME COMMENTS FROM. ANY IN NON MASTER PLAN COMMUNITY. WE'VE GOT SOME EMAILS FROM SOME FOLKS IN STONEBRIDGE AND GOLF CARTS AWAY. THAT IS NOT THE INTENT AT ALL. THE INTENT OF THE DISCUSSION IS NOT THE COMPOSITION OF THE FOOTBALL GAME OR THE, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE FACTORS THAT HAS OCCURRED TO THE COUNCIL FOR LARGE PARTS OF THE DOWNTOWN NON MASTER PLAN COMMUNITY. SO THAT'LL BE THIS AFTERNOON. WE'RE ALSO GOING TO HAVE SOME DISCUSSION ABOUT WRECKER OR TOWING SERVICES FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PURPOSES. WE WILL NOT BID FOR TOWING CONTRACTS. LAST NIGHT. TOWING THE FIRE SERVICES IN THE ETJ. DISCUSSION 2000, OKAY. I CAN OKAY. THE FIRE SERVICES. AGAIN. FORCED ON MUNICIPALITIES IN COBB COUNTY.FOR FUTURE GROWTH. SO WE HAVE ACCORDINGLY. AND TODAY'S DISCUSSION, THE PUBLIC, WE DO HAVE ALSO COMING UP PROBABLY EARLY NOVEMBER. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE BEEN REQUESTED TO BRING AN ITEM ON SHORT TERM RENTAL. AND IN PARTICULAR, WHAT DOES THE LAW ALLOW US TO DO AND NOT. DOLLS, BECAUSE THERE'S BEEN AN INCREASE IN THE LAST DISCUSSION, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE LAST DISCUSSION WE HAD ON THAT WAS 2017 HERE IN THE CITY COUNCIL. I THINK MAYOR LOCKMAN MIGHT STILL HAVE BEEN SEATED AT THAT TIME. SO IF NOT, IT WAS RIGHT AFTER YOU LEFT. BUT HAVE FUN WITH THAT. IT WAS.
YEAH. ANYWAY, THE A COUPLE OF THINGS JUST TO UPDATE YOU ON, WE HAVE TWO, TWO NEW KEY STAFF MEMBERS. WE HAVE A NEW DIRECTOR OF CODE SERVICES, PHILIP HUBBARD JOINS US. COMES MOVED TO TEXAS FROM THE STATE OF OREGON. BUT PHIL HAS JOINED US. HE'S GOING TO BE HEADING UP OUR CODE ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT. AND THEN MARGARET LYNN IS GOING TO BE. SHE WAS JUST STARTED A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. AND MARGARET, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GIRL, IF YOU WILL, OR WOMAN I SHOULD SAY SHE IS, BEEN IN FRISCO FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS, BUT SHE'S JOINED MCKINNEY. SHE'S GOING TO BE HEADING UP OUR HOUSING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE HER ON OUR TEAM AS WELL. SO WITH THAT, I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. ANY QUESTIONS. OKAY. THANKS SO MUCH. THANK YOU, I DON'T SEE LISA IN OR ANYBODY FROM THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, CINDY, CDC.
GOOD MORNING, MR. CHAIRMAN. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, MR. PRESIDENT. APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO YOU FOR A FEW MINUTES THIS MORNING. JUST A COUPLE OF UPDATES FROM THE REPORT THAT I HAD SUBMITTED. AT OUR BOARD MEETING NEXT WEEK, THE BOARD WILL TAKE ACTION ON TWO
[00:05:07]
RETAIL INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS. ONE FOR ONE APPLICATION WAS SUBMITTED BY HAMS FOR FIRE SUPPRESSION IN THEIR BUILDING ON LOUISIANA. AND THEN THE OTHER IS FOR THE OLD PANTRY, IN PREPARATION OF A NEW RESTAURANT COMING IN, INSTALLATION OF A GREASE TRAP. SO THOSE ARE ON FOR NEXT WEEK. AT THE LAST MEETING, THE BOARD APPROVED SIX PROJECT GRANTS AND JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT A COUPLE OF THEM. TWO WERE FOR PARKS, ONE, IS THE FUNDING ALLOCATION FOR THIS YEAR, WHICH IS BEING DEDICATED TO IMPROVEMENTS AT ERWIN PARK. AND THEN THE SECOND IMPROVEMENTS AT GABE NESBITT THAT WILL INCLUDE CONSTRUCTION OF A PRACTICE FIELD, WHICH IS CRITICALLY NEEDED WITHIN THE PARK SYSTEM AND THE COMMUNITY. I INCLUDED WITH THE REPORT A LIST OF THE EVENTS THAT ARE COMING UP THAT CDC HAS SUPPORTED WITH PROMOTIONAL GRANTS AND JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT A COUPLE THIS WEEKEND. THERE'S A REALLY COOL EXHIBIT COMING TO THE COTTON MILL. IT'S THE INTERNATIONAL POSTCARD EXHIBIT AND 570 ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD HAVE SUBMITTED THEIR ART FOR THIS EXHIBIT. THEY'VE BEEN LIMITED TO A FIVE BY SEVEN PIECE, SO IN TALKING WITH THE FOLKS FROM THE MILL HOUSE, SOME OF THOSE THOSE ARTISTS ARE ACCUSTOMED TO WORKING WITH THE VERY LARGE CANVAS. SO GETTING THEIR ART INTO THAT FIVE BY SEVEN HAS BEEN AN INTERESTING PROCESS. BUT THAT OPENS ON SATURDAY. AND THEN COMING UP BEFORE YOUR NEXT MEETING, LUNAR FEST, ASIAN FESTIVAL IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY AND THE MCKINNEY WINE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL, WHICH WILL BE AT DISTRICT 121 THIS YEAR. AND I'M HAPPY TO STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. QUESTIONS THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. MR. MCKINNEY, AARON, THANK YOU. GOOD MORNING, MR. CHAIRMAN. PRESIDENT KOSKI, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, AARON WARNER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF VISIT MCKINNEY. HAPPY TO BE HERE WITH YOU GUYS. THIS MORNING, ONE REALLY GREAT TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT. WE'VE HAD SINCE THE LAST TIME THAT YOUR BOARD MET WAS WE WERE ABLE TO PROMOTE ALICIA HOLMBERG TO ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF VISIT MCKINNEY ON OUR TEAM. AND SO AS THE DIRECTOR, OBVIOUSLY THAT'S ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING THINGS THAT WE GET A CHANCE TO DO IS TO WATCH OUR TEAM STEP UP AND GROW INTO BIGGER ROLES LIKE THAT. SHE'S ALREADY JUMPED RIGHT IN AND IS MAKING SOME REALLY GOOD SUGGESTIONS IN HER NEW POSITION. SO YOU'LL PROBABLY SEE HER MORE OFTEN HERE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. IF I CAN'T MAKE IT SO IT REALLY EXCITED FOR ALICIA.ANOTHER THING I'LL BE GETTING ON AN AIRPLANE THIS WEEKEND. HEADED TO PITTSBURGH WITH SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE FROM THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE AND OTHER DEPARTMENT HEADS TO ICMA, THE INTERNATIONAL CITY MANAGERS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. I'LL ACTUALLY BE SPEAKING THE LAST DAY OF THE CONFERENCE ABOUT THE SOLAR ECLIPSE AND THE IMPACT THAT THAT HAD ON OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY. I'LL BE JOINED BY A COUPLE OTHER PANELISTS FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY THAT ALSO HAD TOTALITY TO TALK ABOUT HOW THEY THEY JUMPED IN AND MADE THAT AN EVENT FOR THEIR CITIES AS WELL.
SO KIND OF A COOL WAY TO SHINE A LIGHT ON MCKINNEY AND, THAT KIND OF ONCE IN A LIFETIME THING FOR US TO, TO, REALLY MAKE A FUN EVENT. ALSO FROM A SALES STANDPOINT, ABOUT A YEAR AGO, WE REALLY FLIPPED THE WAY THAT WE WERE FOCUSED ON GETTING GROUP BUSINESS TO MCKINNEY. WE WERE LOOKING AT WHAT WE HAD AND WHAT WE WERE SUCCESSFUL AT, AND WE STARTED TARGETING SPORTS TOURISM HEAVIER THAN WE EVER HAVE AS A CVB. WITH THAT, WE STARTED GOING TO SHOWS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND JUST PUTTING MCKINNEY OUT THERE WITH OUR SPORTS FACILITIES AND ALL OF OUR DEVELOPMENT THAT WE HAVE IN THAT AREA, AND WE'RE REALLY STARTING TO REAP THE BENEFITS OF THAT CHANGE. ONE OF THOSE BEING THIS NOVEMBER, THE BILLIE JEAN KING CUP IS GOING TO HAVE A PLAYOFF MATCH AT THE COURTS OF MCKINNEY. SO BILLIE JEAN KING IS ONE OF THE BEST WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYERS TO EVER PLAY THIS MATCH. WILL DECIDE WHICH TEAM GETS TO GO TO THE ACTUAL TOURNAMENT. SO WE ARE THE HOST COMMUNITY FOR UKRAINE. UKRAINE IS THE IS THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THIS MATCH. SO TYPICALLY WOULD BE PLAYED ON THEIR HOME TURF. OBVIOUSLY THAT CAN'T HAPPEN RIGHT NOW. AND THROUGH A CHAIN OF EVENTS, WE WERE ABLE TO BRING THAT EVENT TO MCKINNEY AS THE HOST COMMUNITY FOR UKRAINE VERSUS AUSTRIA. SO REALLY EXCITING EVENT. THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BUSCH CENTER DOWN IN DALLAS, THERE'S GOING TO BE A REALLY NICE DINNER THE NIGHT BEFORE DOWN AT SMU.
AND THEN COME UP AND THEY'RE GOING TO ACTUALLY BUILD RAISED STADIUM SEATING INSIDE THE COURTS TO HOST THAT EVENT. SO THERE ARE CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE. THAT GO BACK TO THE UKRAINIAN TEAM. SO IF YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THAT, I CAN DEFINITELY SHARE THAT INFORMATION, AND WE'LL KEEP YOU GUYS UPDATED THROUGH PRESIDENT KOWSKI ON, ON HOW YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET A TICKET OR COME OUT AND ATTEND THAT EVENT. AARON, WHAT WAS THE DATE ON THAT AGAIN? NOVEMBER 16TH AND 17TH. FOLLOWING THAT, IN THE SPRING,
[00:10:03]
WE ARE GOING TO HAVE OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL GIRLS CUP OF MCKINNEY. THIS IS AN EVENT WE'VE ACTUALLY BEEN WORKING ON FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW, TRYING TO RECRUIT THIS EVENT TO TAKE PLACE AND BE HOSTED IN MCKINNEY THIS IS A YOUTH GIRLS SOCCER TOURNAMENT APPROXIMATELY 200 TO 230 TEAMS, AT LEAST TEN OF THOSE BEING INTERNATIONAL. AND SO WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE'RE MOST LIKELY GOING TO DO OUR KICKOFF EVENT AT TUPPS BREWERY WITH 2500 TO 3000 PEOPLE COMING THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THEIR KICKOFF EVENT. AND THEN JUST A BUSY WEEK OF SOCCER, AND THEN ALMOST A WEEK OR TWO AFTER THAT, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A SOON TO BE ANNOUNCED EVENT THAT WILL ALSO BE AT THE COURTS OF MCKINNEY. THIS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN OCTOBER OFFICIALLY, BUT THIS IS ANOTHER NATIONALLY TELEVISED EVENT, SO YOU'LL BE ABLE TO WATCH MCKINNEY ON ONE OF THE ESPN CHANNELS FOR THAT WEEK. AND AGAIN, SEVERAL THOUSAND PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY. AND THEN WE BETTER BUCKLE UP BECAUSE THE BUYER IS RIGHT AFTER THAT. SO THAT'S THE SPRING FOR US. IT'S GOING TO BE BUSY IN MCKINNEY. AND THERE'S A COMMON THEME THERE. AND IT'S ALL SPORTS. AND, YOU KNOW, WE'VE DEVELOPED SOME INCREDIBLE SPORTS FACILITIES OVER THE YEARS. WE'VE HAD PEOPLE WITH VISION FOR THAT. AND I THINK MCKINNEY IS NOW REAPING THE BENEFITS OF THAT INVESTMENT. THANK YOU ALL RIGHT. ANY QUESTIONS OKAY. WE'RE GOING TO SELL TICKETS TO THE BILLIE JEAN KING DEAL. YES. TICKETS SHOULD ACTUALLY BE LIVE NOW, BUT I CAN SEND A LINK TO MR. KOWSKI AND MAKE SURE THAT GETS TO EVERYBODY. THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT.COMMITTEE UPDATES, MARKETING. WE MEET THIS FRIDAY. OKAY REAL ESTATE? YES, SIR. WE MET LAST WEEK AND HAVE SEVERAL ITEMS TODAY DURING THE EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS INNOVATION, WE MET, TWO WEEKS AGO AND HAD AN EXHAUSTIVE DISCUSSION ABOUT, RELOCATIONS OF BUSINESSES FROM PLUG AND PLAY COMPANIES TO MCKINNEY AND FINANCE. FINANCE DID NOT MEET AND GOVERNANCE DID MEET. AND, PRIMARILY WE HAVE AN EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEM TODAY ON THE EVALUATION OF OUR NEW PRESIDENT. YEAH. IS THIS THE FIRST TIME? IS THIS THE LAST TIME HE'LL BE CALLED NEW? I SAY WITH, THANK YOU, MARK. I SAY WITH SOME WHAT'S THE WORD SOLEMNITY. IS THAT THAT'S THE RIGHT WORD, ISN'T IT? IT'S TOO BIG FOR ME. SORRY WELL, GO TO LAW SCHOOL. YOU'LL DO BETTER.
ALL RIGHT, OKAY. SO WE'LL DO THAT, TO OUR PRESIDENT. OH, GOD. IT HURTS TO. IN EXECUTIVE SESSION, OKAY, SO, BOARD CHAIRMAN COMMENTS, I HAVE A LOT TO SAY OTHER THAN WE DID. GET A ROLL. YEAH, TUCK AND ROLL. TUCK AND ROLL. YEAH. A SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU TO THE MCKINNEY POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR AMBULANCE SERVICES THAT I PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED.
THAT WAS GREAT. THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB, ACTUALLY, BUT WE DID RECEIVE A REALLY GREAT ANNOUNCEMENT OR EMAIL YESTERDAY FROM, THE JOHN DRAGO, WHO'S THE TOURNAMENT CHAIR OF THE CJ CUP BYRON NELSON GOLF TOURNAMENT, AND FOUND OUT THAT MCKINNEY HAS BEEN NOMINATED OR THE TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN NOMINATED. I SHOULD SAY I'LL SAY MCKINNEY, BUT IT'S THE TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN NOMINATED BY THE PGA TOUR THIS YEAR TO RECEIVE THE MOST ENGAGED COMMUNITY AWARD FOR ALL OF THE TOURNAMENTS THAT THE PGA RUNS DURING THE YEAR, SO STAY TUNED FOR THAT. BUT JUST THE FACT THAT WE GOT THE NOMINATION, SPEAKS VOLUMES AS TO HOW THE CITY HAS EMBRACED NOT JUST THE CITY, BUT THE CITIZENS HAVE EMBRACED THE TOURNAMENT AND THE VOLUNTEERISM AND EVERYTHING THAT'S GONE WITH
[Consider/Discuss MEDC Monthly Reports]
THAT. SO THAT'S FANTASTIC. AND WITH THAT, WE'LL GO ON TO, 24, 1968 MONTHLY REPORTS. THANK YOU, MR. CHAIRMAN. I WANT TO SPOTLIGHT THREE THINGS BEFORE WE TURN IT OVER TO MR. TALLY AND MR. GAJARI. FIRST AND FOREMOST, I WANT TO THANK MR. TALLY. AS YOU KNOW, OUR JOB IS 24 OVER SEVEN 365. AND THIS PAST WEEKEND IN PARTICULAR, WE HAD A PROJECT WE'RE WORKING ON THAT INVOLVED MANY TELEPHONE CALLS, EMAILS AND SO ON WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNER AND MR. TALLY TAKES TIME AWAY FROM HIS FAMILY AND HIS WEEKEND ENJOYMENT TO DO THAT. SO I WANT TO PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGE MR. TALLY FOR DOING THAT BECAUSE I DO APPRECIATE IT VERY GREATLY. SO THANK YOU, SIR, IN THIS ROOM A FEW WEEKS BACK, MAYBE IT WAS LAST WEEK, IN FACT, MADISON CLARK, AS A LEADERSHIP MCKINNEY ALUMNUS, WAS ABLE TO HOST WHAT'S CALLED CITY DAY, WHEREBY SHE WAS ABLE TO HAVE A PANEL DISCUSSION WITH CITY LEADERS, CITY COUNCIL, MR. GRIMES, CITY SECRETARY, AND SO ON TO TALK ABOUT THEIR JOURNEY TO THEIR ROLES. AND YOU KNOW, HOW THEY SEE THAT THEY IMPACT IN A POSITIVE WAY.[00:15:05]
MCKINNEY. SO KUDOS TO MADISON CLARK FOR NOT ONLY BEING ASKED TO DO THAT, BUT SECOND, REPRESENTING THE EDC AND CITY OF MCKINNEY. SO WELL. AND THEN THE THIRD THING I WANT TO SPOTLIGHT IS THE CITY OF MCKINNEY HAS AN EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM THAT IS COMPRISED OF ALL OF THE DEPARTMENT LEADERS AND SO ON, AND SIMILAR ACROSS THE CITY AS MR. GRIMES WILL SAY, WE'RE ALL KIND OF ELEVATED TO THE TOP POSITION IN THE CITY DURING THOSE MEETINGS. WE MEET EVERY OTHER WEEK. SO TWICE A MONTH, AND DURING THOSE MEETINGS WE TALK ABOUT THINGS THAT IMPACT THE ENTIRE CITY, I WAS BLESSED BECAUSE ON THE AGENDA, I WAS ABLE TO CARVE OUT AN HOUR TO HAVE PLUG AND PLAY COME AND PRESENT TO THE ENTIRE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, WHICH IS ABOUT 30 PEOPLE, PLUS OR MINUS. AND THEN MR. TALLEY AND MR. WILKES CAME AS WELL TO LEND SUPPORT FOR DISCUSSION ON OUR INNOVATION FUND. I DID THAT BECAUSE AS EDC, WE TEND TO SPEAK ABOUT INNOVATION. STARTUPS PLUG AND PLAY AS IF IT'S COMMON KNOWLEDGE ACROSS THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION BASED ON BASED UPON THE FEEDBACK, I RECEIVED YESTERDAY, IT WAS VERY WELL RECEIVED. AND AGAIN, IT'S THAT ENGAGEMENT THAT WE'RE WORKING ON DAY IN AND DAY OUT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ALL PULLING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. SO IT'S ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW PLUG AND PLAY IS BECOMING MORE INGRAINED IN OUR CULTURE IN THE CITY OF MCKINNEY. AND WITH THAT, I'LL ASK MR. TALLEY TO WALK US THROUGH THE KPIS. WELL, GOOD MORNING, BOARD. MR. CHAIRMAN. GOOD TO SEE YOU ALIVE AND WELL.AND MR. KOSKI, A QUICK RUN THROUGH ACTIVE PROJECTS. WE'VE GOT 26 ACTIVE PROJECTS AGAIN, WE BREAK THESE OUT INTO TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATION. SO TRADITIONAL BEING YOUR INDUSTRIAL OFFICE AND DEVELOPMENT. SO 18 TRADITIONAL EIGHT UNDER INNOVATION STILL ON PACE TO MORE THAN DOUBLE THE APPLICANT INNOVATION I'LL SAY JUST YOU KNOW WE'RE NOT JUST TRYING TO GET THE QUANTITY. IT'S ABOUT QUALITY AS WELL. BUT IT'S JUST A QUICK UPDATE TODAY AND I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS ON ACTIVE PROJECT PIPELINE. ANY QUESTIONS FOR MR. TALLEY. THANK YOU. MR. GOOD MORNING, MR. CHAIRMAN. MR. PRESIDENT MEMBERS OF THE BOARD LUKE CAJARI SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING MANAGER FOR THE EDC. I PREVIOUSLY HAD A PRESENTATION PREPARED ON PETITIONING FOR THE NEXT MEDC FLEET VEHICLE TO BE A FEW GOLF CARTS. GOING TO SCRAP THAT FOR NEXT TIME DEPENDING ON HOW TONIGHT GOES. SO I JUST WANT TO BRING YOU A BRIEF UPDATE ON A FEW THINGS HAPPENING WITH OUR DIGITAL MARKETING EFFORTS. AND AS ALWAYS, YOU CAN FIND A MORE EXHAUSTIVE REPORT IN YOUR ORGANIZATION REPORT ATTACHED TO THE AGENDA, IF YOU WOULDN'T MIND, ACTUALLY, LET'S LOOK AT THE IMAC IMAGE THERE. YOU CAN SEE OUR WEBSITE VISITOR TRAFFIC. I WANT TO POINT OUT WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED IN THIS POSITION, OUR AVERAGE TRAFFIC WAS 1000 TO 1200 UNIQUE VISITORS ORGANICALLY, WITHOUT ANY PAID ADVERTISING. IN MY FIRST YEAR, WE ACCELERATED THAT UP TO 2000 VISITS, AVERAGING A MONTH. YOU CAN SEE HERE. THIS PAST MONTH IN AUGUST, WE HAD 8600 VISITS. I'LL EXPLAIN THAT IN A MOMENT. I CAN'T TAKE FULL ORGANIC CREDIT FOR THAT. THAT WAS NOT JUST PEOPLE RANDOMLY STUMBLING INTO OUR WEBSITE. 6000 MORE TIMES A MONTH. IF YOU GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE, WE'LL KIND OF ILLUSTRATE WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE. IF YOU'VE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO OUR NUMBERS AGAIN, YOU CAN SEE A MASSIVE JUMP. WHY HAS OUR WEBSITE TRAFFIC FOR XT IN THE PAST MONTH? AND THAT IS IN LARGE PART TO SOME ADDITIONAL MARKETING EFFORTS. WE ARE DOUBLING DOWN ON IN HIGH COST OF LIVING, LOW QUALITY OF LIFE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY, I DON'T WANT TO GO INTO TOO MUCH DETAIL INTO OUR DIGITAL MARKETING STRATEGY IN A PUBLIC SESSION, BUT I WILL HAPPILY STAND FOR QUESTIONS PRIVATELY AS WELL. AND THEN YOU CAN ALSO SEE OUR MOBIL, THAT PIE CHART, BOTTOM LEFT USED TO BE PRETTY SPLIT 5050 MOBILE TO DESKTOP, WHICH IS RARE. WE'RE NOW SEEING MORE TRAFFIC ON MOBILE, WHICH MEANS PEOPLE ARE SEEING THEIR ADS AS THEY'RE SITTING AT BUS STOPS. TRAIN STATIONS BROWSING ON THEIR MOBILE DEVICES. SO OUR CAMPAIGN IS WORKING AND YOU CAN SEE THE CITIES, WHICH IS INTERESTING. NUMBER ONE CITY A YEAR AGO VISITING OUR WEBSITE WAS MCKINNEY, WHICH TO ME IS NOT A GOOD THING. WE DON'T NEED MCKINNEY RESIDENTS ON OUR WEBSITE. WE NEED SITE SELECTORS, BUSINESS OWNERS OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AND OUTSIDE OF MCKINNEY. THE FACT THAT NOW MCKINNEY IS NUMBER SIX ON THAT LIST IS A GOOD THING, AND WE'RE GETTING A LOT OF TRAFFIC FROM OTHER AREAS. SO JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT. JUST A BRIEF SNAPSHOT FOR YOU TODAY, LUKE. YES. SORRY. WHERE IS MOSES LAKE? THAT'S A SMALL TOWN IN WASHINGTON STATE. WASHINGTON. OKAY. YEAH. SO WE HAD TARGETED SEATTLE, AND I GUESS WE'RE GETTING SOME RESIDUAL PICKING THEM UP FROM KIND OF LIKE, OKAY, YOU KNOW, SHOOT A SHOTGUN BLAST, YOU'RE GOING TO HIT SOME OTHER AREAS. SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MOSES LAKE IS, BUT THEY LOVE US. THEY LOVE US. THEY LOVE IT. AND I'LL STAND FOR ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS AS WEL. LUKE, THE TERM YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IS LOW SPEED VEHICLE. IT'S NOT A GOLF CART. IT'S A LOW SPEED, LOW SPEED VEHICLE OKAY. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. GOOD. BUT VERY DIFFERENT. LAST WEEK YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT A PLANE INSTEAD OF WE ORDERED THAT. THAT COMES IN NEXT WEEK OKAY. GOOD. OKAY. GOOD. YEAH GOOD. WE'RE WORKING ON THAT. SO LUKE, IT'S REALLY GOOD TO SEE A FOCUSED EFFORT ON THOSE HIGH COST MARKETS BECAUSE I THINK THOSE
[00:20:04]
ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE PRIMED FOR RELOCATION TO. YES, SIR. THE BEAUTIFUL STATE OF TEXAS. SO I APPRECIATE YOUR WORK THERE. THANK YOU. APPRECIATE THAT. GREAT JOB. THANK YOU ALL.[Consider/Discuss/Act on the June 2024 Financials]
[Consider/Discuss/Act on the July 2024 Financials]
BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY OF TEXAS. OKAY. NEXT IS 24 1969 AND 24 1970 WITH THE FINANCIALS FOR JUNE AND JULY. CHANCE SIR, IT'S OKAY IF I PRESENT BOTH AT ONCE. YEAH, THAT'S. I FIGURED I'D JUST CALL THEM OUT TOGETHER. OKAY. PERFECT CHANCE. MILLER COUNTY MANAGER WILL BE GOING OVER THE MONTH OF JUNE 1ST. I'M GOING A LITTLE BIT BACK, JUNE WAS AN ACTIVE MONTH FOR THE MEDC. WE COLLECTED A LITTLE OVER $2 MILLION IN REVENUE, AND IF WE LOOK AT EXPENSES, WE HAD CLOSE TO THREE, $300,000 IN OPERATIONAL EXPENSES, BUT WE HAD A $2.3 MILLION IN PROJECT EXPENSES. SO IT'S A PRETTY ACTIVE MONTH, NON-DEPARTMENTAL WAS 237,000, BUT THAT'S PRETTY ROUTINE. ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS. TOTAL EXPENSES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE WAS A LITTLE OVER 2.8 MILLION. LOOKING AT SALES TAX, WE HAD A VERY STRONG MONTH. JUNE APPLIES TO THE MONTH OF, I THINK APRIL. YEP. APRIL, WE SAW 13.2% INCREASE. THAT BRINGS OUR YEAR TO DATE UP TO 8%. THAT IS 75% THROUGH THE YEAR. SO IT'S A VERY STRONG NUMBERS. YOU CAN SEE HOW WE'RE COMPARING TO SISTER CITIES, WHICH I'LL TOUCH BASE IN A LITTLE BIT MORE, BUT ALLEN HAD A 31.5% INCREASE, WHICH WAS A LITTLE INTERESTING, BUT NEXT MONTH IT KIND OF DROPS BACK DOWN TO 1%. SO IT LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE BIT OF AN OUTLIER, AND IT WASN'T NO AUDIT CULTURE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. SO IT WAS JUST SURPRISING TO SEE THAT I CAN'T SEE THE DETAIL BEHIND IT, FRISCO SAW 6.7% INCREASE AND PLANO SAW A 17% INCREASE, SALES TAX BY INDUSTRY. EVERYTHING'S LOOKING PRETTY CONSISTENT AS IT HAS FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS. NOW THAT WE'RE LATER IN THE YEAR, THESE AVERAGES KIND OF STAY WHERE THEY'RE AT, AND I'LL MOVE ON TO JULY NOW AND I'LL TOUCH ON THE SALES TAX THEN. ALL RIGHT. JULY WAS A LITTLE BIT OF A QUIETER MONTH. WE DID COLLECT OVER $2 MILLION IN REVENUES, 1.9 MILLION OF THAT BEING SALES TAX REVENUE. BUT OPERATIONAL EXPENSES WAS A LITTLE BIT UNDER 300,000 PROJECT EXPENSES WAS AROUND 100,000. AND THEN NON-DEPARTMENTAL. IS THAT CONSISTENT NUMBER OF 237,000. SO TOTAL EXPENSES FOR THE MONTH OF JULY WAS 630,000. SALES TAX, THIS WOULD APPLY TO MAY. MAY SALES. WE SAW ANOTHER TEN OVER 10% INCREASE. SO THIS WAS 10.8%. WHICH BRINGS OUR YEAR TO DATE UP TO 8.3%, AND KIND OF WHAT I WAS MENTIONING LAST WEEK, YOU CAN SEE THAT OUR TOTAL OUR DIFFERENCE LAST YEAR IN TOTAL DOLLARS IS ABOVE OUR SISTER CITIES. AND BY PERCENTAGE INCREASE. WHAT JUST KIND OF SIGNIFIES WHAT WE KIND OF ALREADY KNOW THAT MCKINNEY IS STILL GROWING. FASTER THAN, YOU KNOW, THE SISTER CITIES, WHICH MULTIPLE REASONS KIND OF GO INTO THAT. BUT ALLEN SAW 1.4% INCREASE, SO MAYBE AVERAGE OUT THE LAST MONTH OF 31% TO THE 1% THIS INCREASE OR THIS MONTH. SO MAYBE AROUND 18 FOR THESE PAST TWO MONTHS, FRISCO WAS 2.2% AND PLANO WAS 1.5% CHANCE. YES, SIR. CAN WE BACK UP TO THAT ONE? SO FOR PLANO, THAT 1.5%, 138,000, THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. THE 138. THEY'RE UP 138 FROM LAST YEAR FROM LAST YEAR FOR THIS MONTH.THEN YOU KNOW THE COLUMN BELOW THAT THEY'RE UP 3.8 MILLION OVER LAST YEAR, YEAR TO DATE TOTAL, AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE PLANO IS ONLY 1%. THE OTHER 1% GOES TO DART, SO YOU JUST GOT TO KIND OF HAVE TO WEIGH THAT IN AS WELL. WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT&-P. THANK YOU, AND THEN LIKE I SAID, YEAR TO DATE, NOW THAT WE'RE LATER IN THE YEAR, THE STATE IS PRETTY CONSISTENT, BUT I DON'T SEE ANYTHING THAT KIND OF JUMPS OUT AT ME WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT THE MONTH TO MONTH. NOTHING REALLY JUMPED OUT AT ME. SO I FEEL REALLY STRONG ABOUT MCKINNEY'S DATA, BUT I'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS, ANY QUESTIONS. LET'S DO. WE'LL DO THESE ONE AT A TIME. BUT FIRST, A MOTION ON 24, 1969 FOR JUNE. I MOVE TO APPROVE SECOND. WE HAVE A MOTION. WE HAVE A SECOND. CAST YOUR VOTES. AND DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA. YES. I'M A YES. ALL RIGHT. THAT PASSES. AND THEN WE NEED A MOTION ON 24, 1970 4TH JULY. FINANCIALS MOVE TO APPROVE. I'LL SECOND. BUTTONS. OH WE HAD A MOTION AND A SECOND MOTION BY MARK AND SECOND BY JULIE. THAT MOTION PASSES. ALL RIGHT, SO NEXT IS PUBLIC COMMENTS REGARDING MATTERS NOT ON THE
