[CALL TO ORDER]
[00:00:09]
GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE. HAPPY HOLIDAYS. WE. I WILL NOW CALL TO CALL THE MEETING OF THE MCKINNEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO ORDER. THE TIME IS 802. WE ARE IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 222 NORTH TENNESSEE STREET, MCKINNEY, TEXAS. WE WILL HAVE OUR INVOCATION BROUGHT TO US BY PASTOR MICHAEL GAMBLE OF THE CHURCH GARDEN IN MCKINNEY. THE GARDEN CHURCH. I'M SORRY, I DON'T CHANGE THE WHOLE NAME OF YOUR CHURCH. THE GARDEN CHURCH IN MCKINNEY. AND BEFORE YOU COME, PASTOR, IF YOU CAN INCLUDE. COME ON. YOU CAN COME ON IN YOUR PRAYERS. JUST. OF COURSE, THE HOLIDAY SEASON. LIFTING UP FAMILIES THAT THIS YEAR THEIR HOLIDAYS MAY LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT. COULD IT BE FROM LOSS OF A LOVED ONE FAMILY MEMBER THAT IS ILL? PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN THE PUBLIC, BUT ARE IN SILENCE, BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE SUFFERING BUT WALKING AROUND AND WE DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT THEY ARE SUFFERING. SO IF YOU CAN JUST INCLUDE THOSE IN YOUR PRAYERS TODAY, I APPRECIATE THAT. THANK YOU, PASTOR GAMBLE. LET'S PRAY.
LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THIS TIME OF SEASON THAT WE GET TO CELEBRATE. AND THERE'S JOY AND THERE'S SONGS OF FESTIVITIES IN THE AIR. BUT LORD, WE ALSO RECOGNIZE THIS IS ALSO A SEASON OF GREAT PAIN AND GREAT SUFFERING. SO, GOD, I ASK THAT YOU WOULD GIVE US THE WISDOM TO SEE THOSE AROUND US THAT COULD HAVE A HELPING HAND, A KIND WORD. GOD, LET US HAVE EYES THAT ARE YOUR EYES AND HANDS THAT ARE YOUR HANDS. FATHER, WE THANK YOU THAT YOU SEE ALL AND YOU HEAR ALL. AND, LORD, YOU HAVE PLACED US HERE TO BE YOUR HANDS AND FEET. SO GOD HELP US HELP OTHERS. LORD, I ALSO PRAY FOR THIS MEETING TODAY THAT LORD, YOUR WISDOM AND YOUR STRATEGY WOULD COME FORTH, AND THAT GOD THAT ALL THE DECISIONS AND TOPICS DISCUSSED TODAY, LORD, WOULD HAVE EVEN GREATER AND POWERFUL IMPACT IN OUR COMMUNITY. AND WE THANK YOU, JESUS THAT YOU'LL ATTEND THIS MEETING. AMEN. AMEN. THANK YOU, PASTOR JIM. WE WILL NOW HAVE OUR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND. TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS. ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. DO WE HAVE ANY PUBLIC? I DON'T HAVE ANY PUBLIC COMMENTS. OKAY. WE DON'T HAVE ANY PUBLIC COMMENTS
[CONSENT ITEMS]
ON NON-AGENDA. NONE. PUBLIC HEARING AGENDA ITEMS. WE WILL NOW GO INTO CONSENT ITEM. WE HAVE ONE CONSENT ITEM. ITEM 24 225 SIX MINUTES OF THE MCKINNEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION MEETING OF OCTOBER 24TH, 2024. CAN I GET A MOTION TO APPROVE THIS CONSENT ITEM? MOTION TO APPROVE. I'M ALMOST GONE. MOVE BY DEBORAH. SECOND BY JOY.LINDA. I DON'T HAVE A. ARE YOU ABLE TO VOTE ON YOUR. IT DID. I WAS JUST I'M REFRESHING. ARE YOU. YES I AM. MOTION PASSES. THANK YOU. WE'LL NOW GO INTO REPORTS. WE HAVE ITEM 24 2257
[Financial Report]
FINANCIAL REPORT. CHANCE. MILLER. GOOD MORNING. CHANCELLOR. MILLER COUNTY MANAGER. HAPPY TO BE WITH YOU THIS MORNING. GOOD. OCTOBER. WE HAVE TWO SETS OF FINANCIALS TO GO OVER TODAY. THE FIRST ONE IS THE FIRST MONTH OF OUR FISCAL YEAR, WHICH WAS ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT BUSIER THAN NORMAL. OCTOBER'S IT USUALLY TAKES DEPARTMENTS A LITTLE BIT TO GET GOING WITH POS AND FPOS TO GET ALL THOSE APPROVED. IF YOU LOOK AT OUR EXPENDITURES, WE HAD A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN NORMAL, BUT IF WE LOOK AT REVENUES, WE HAD A SLIGHTLY OVER 2.1 MILLION. THE MAJORITY OF THAT COMING FROM THE SALES TAX REVENUE. MOVING DOWN TO EXPENDITURES, WE HAD 78,000.ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES 584IN PROJECT EXPENSES AND 69,000IN NON-DEPARTMENTAL EXPENSES. SO TOTAL EXPENSES FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER WAS 732,000. IF WE TOUCH BASE ON. ITEMS, MOVE OVER TO THE CELL SEGMENTS NOT WORKING. I HAVE IT ON. MOVE TO THE SALES TAX PAGE. THE NEXT ONE. SORRY.
PERFECT. SO THIS APPLIES TO THIS MONEY WE RECEIVED IN OCTOBER BUT APPLIES TO SALES IN AUGUST. WE SAW 4.3% INCREASE ALLEN SAW 1.3% INCREASE, FRISCO SAW 1.4% INCREASE AND PLANO SAW A 2%
[00:05:06]
DECREASE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY THE FIRST MONTH OF THE FISCAL YEAR, SO WE'RE GOING TO LET IT KIND OF AVERAGE OUT A LITTLE BIT BEFORE WE MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PAGE. I CAN AT LEAST. OH IT WORKS NOW.PERFECT. RETAIL TRADE SAW A 2% INCREASE. THAT'S MUCH SLOWER THAN IT HAS BEEN OVER THE PAST SIX MONTHS OR SO. BUT WITH IT BEING ONE MONTH, WE'RE NOT GOING TO, YOU KNOW, OVERREACT OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. BESIDES THAT, THIS IS YEAR TO DATE VARIANCES AND OBVIOUSLY IT'S ONLY ONE MONTH. SO A LOT OF THINGS ARE GOING TO BE VOLATILE. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ONE MONTH BASIS. IF WE LOOK DOWN TO CONSTRUCTION AND STUFF LIKE THAT, WHEN WE SEE THE DECREASE, A LOT OF THOSE COMPANIES ARE PAYING QUARTERLY. SO WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AT OCTOBER, WE WON'T REALLY SEE A TRUE ANYTHING VARIANCE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT UNTIL WE GET TO DECEMBER AND SEE THOSE QUARTERLY PAYMENTS COME THROUGH BEFORE WE CAN MAKE ANY DECISIONS BASED ON THOSE NUMBERS. BUT I'LL ACTUALLY MOVE ON TO NOVEMBER NOW AND THEN KIND OF TALK ABOUT SALES TAX TOO AFTER THAT. PERFECT. SO THIS IS OUR SECOND MONTH OF OUR FISCAL YEAR. WE SAW $2.2 MILLION IN REVENUE, BRINGS OUR YEAR TO DATE UP TO 4.4 MILLION, WHICH THE MAJORITY OF THAT IS SALES TAX REVENUE. LOOKING AT OPERATIONAL EXPENSES, WE HAD 41,000 PROJECT EXPENSES. WE HAD 500,000 AND NON-DEPARTMENTAL, WE HAD 69,000, WHICH FOR THE MONTH THAT WAS 611,000 OF EXPENSES. AND LOOKING AT SALES TAX. SO THIS IS MONEY WE RECEIVED IN NOVEMBER. BUT IT APPLIES TO SEPTEMBER. WE SAW 1.7% INCREASE. THAT BRINGS THROUGH TWO MONTHS. THAT BRINGS OUR YEAR TO DATE UP TO 2.9%. IF YOU DID DO A 12 MONTH ROLLING OUT A ROLLING AVERAGE, WE'RE STILL ABOVE THE 5% THAT WE USUALLY BUDGET. WE'RE CLOSE TO 5.9%, BUT IT IS IT IS TWO MONTHS. THAT IS A LITTLE BIT SLOWER THAN WE HAVE BEEN SEEING RECENTLY. ALLEN SAW A 10% DECREASE. IF YOU WENT BACK THREE MONTHS, THEY ACTUALLY SAW 30% INCREASE. SO THIS IS KIND OF AVERAGING THEM OUT OVER THE NEXT MONTHS. JUST THE WAY KIND OF QUARTERLY PAYMENTS AND STUFF KIND OF COME IN. FRISCO SAW 1.3% INCREASE AND PLANO SAW A 20% INCREASE. THAT WAS ACTUALLY ALL AUDIT COLLECTIONS. SO THAT'S ACTUALLY NOT A TRUE PERIOD TO PERIOD INCREASE EITHER. BUT IF WE LOOK AT IT STARTS TO MEAN A LITTLE BIT MORE EVERY MONTH NOW THAT THIS IS THE YEAR TO DATE VARIANCE. SO WE'RE LOOKING AT OUR INDUSTRIES AND RETAIL TRADE THROUGH THE FIRST TWO MONTHS IS KIND OF BREAKING EVEN AS TO WHAT WE WERE LAST YEAR. IT IS SLIGHTLY CONCERNING, BUT WE DO KNOW DECEMBER'S COMES IN A LITTLE BIT BETTER. SO I'LL PRESENT IT TO THAT NEXT MONTH. SO WE'RE NOT GOING TO, YOU KNOW, OVERREACT. BUT IT IS SOMETHING OUR TEAM IS MONITORING AS WE KIND OF GO THROUGH THIS YEAR, BECAUSE THAT'S GOING TO DRIVE OUR BASICALLY YEAR TO DATE SALES TAX NUMBERS. WHATEVER THAT PERCENTAGE IS, IT'S GOING TO BE CLOSE TO IT AS A WHOLE. IF YOU LOOK DOWN, I'M STILL NOT CONCERNED ABOUT CONSTRUCTION OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT UNTIL WE GET TO DECEMBER. SO EITHER WAY, I THINK NEXT MONTH WILL BE A LITTLE BIT MORE TELLING OF WHERE WE'RE AT, ESPECIALLY JUST TWO MONTHS INTO THE FISCAL YEAR. WE WANT TO KIND OF KEEP AN EYE ON IT RIGHT NOW, AND I'LL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS, BUT WE ARE KEEPING AN EYE ON SOME OF THIS STUFF TO SEE HOW IT KEEPS TRENDING THROUGHOUT THE FISCAL YEAR. HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. ANY QUESTIONS FOR

CHANCE? OKAY. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE WILL NOW GO INTO ITEM REPORT 20 4-2258 BOARD AND LIAISON REPORTS. WE WILL RETAIN LIAISON COMMENTS ABOUT EVENTS OVER THE AT THE END OF THE MEETING. AGAIN THIS IS THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND IT HAS BEEN A VERY ROBUST SEASON FOR US. THE COMMUNITY EVENTS THAT THE BOARD AND OUR STAFF REPRESENTED OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS, WE SPONSORED AND SUPPORTED GRANT FUNDED EVENTS, MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY, FARMERS MARKET, STATE OF THE CITY, WOODSIDE VILLAGE, TURKEY DRIVE, WARRIORS KEEP VETERANS DAY EVENT, MCKINNEY THEATER'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL HOLIDAY TOUR OF HOMES, DIRECTION 61 THREE MOSAIC CONCERT, EAST MCKINNEY LEARNING GARDEN. RIBBON CUTTING. OTHER EVENTS. CORNERSTONE. BORN MCKINNEY CHRISTIANS MOVE THE MOUNTAIN EVENT. VOLUNTEER MCKINNEY EXECUTIVE QUARTERLY. MAIN STREET MERCHANTS MEETING. PARKS AND REC. VETERANS DAY CEREMONY. PARKS TOUR. MUSEUM OF HURT MUSEUM TOUR. BOOTS AND BOOGIE BENEFITING LA TIENDA DEVELOPMENT. UPDATE ON OUR AND CHAMBER HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF GREAT THINGS HAPPENING OVER THIS LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AS WE ENTER INTO THE HOLIDAY SEASON, AND AGAIN, I'LL ALLOW BOARD MEMBERS TO PROVIDE OTHER COMMENTS ABOUT OPPORTUNITIES THEY WERE ABLE TO ATTEND. WE WILL NOW GO INTO CITY OF MCKINNEY. MISTER GRIMES. WELL, GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. MY NAME IS PAUL GRIMES, CITY MANAGER. GOOD MORNING. AND BEFORE I FORGET, I WISH ALL OF YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY, HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S ALREADY UPON US. DECEMBER 19TH. I DON'T KNOW WHERE DID THE YEAR GO, BUT A FEW THINGS TO UPDATE YOU ON. 2025 IS GOING TO BE A REALLY BUSY YEAR, MAYBE THE BUSIEST ONE YET SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE FOR SURE. WE HAVE JUST AN OUTLINE OR AN OVERVIEW OF SOME OF THE PROJECTS THAT ARE[00:10:03]
COMING DOWN THE PIKE. WE HAVE OBVIOUSLY OUR VENUE, THE AMPHITHEATER PROJECT CONSTRUCTION SHOULD BEGIN ON THAT. THEY SHOULD START MOVING DIRT IN EARLY FEBRUARY. WE HAVE A PROJECT, VERY EXCITING PROJECT THAT I'M SURE MR. KOSKI IS GOING TO SPEAK TO, BUT IT CREATED A NEW MIXED USE ENTERTAINMENT RECREATIONAL KIND OF DISTRICT ALONG STACY AND 121. WE HAVE ONGOING DISCUSSIONS HERE FOR REDEVELOPING THIS FACILITY AS WE MOVE, WHICH I'LL SPEAK TO IN A MINUTE. THE MOVE TO THE NEW CITY HALL AND REDEVELOPING THIS PARTICULAR PART OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA. WE HAVE AIRPORT ACTIVITY. THE AIRPORT IS GOING TO BE VERY, VERY FAST AND FURIOUS, HOT AND HEAVY. OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, YOU'RE GOING TO SEE LOTS OF CHANGE, IF YOU WILL, IN TERMS OF DECISION MAKING BY THE CITY COUNCIL, WHICH IS ALL VERY EXCITING FOR THE CITY OF MCKINNEY. AND IN ALL OF THAT, WE ALSO HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING HAPPENING IN EARLY MAY, AN ELECTION. SO AND WE HAVE FOUR COUNCIL SEATS. AS A CITY MANAGER, YOU ALWAYS COUNT HEADS AND WE HAVE FOUR COUNCIL SEATS UP FOR ELECTION OR REELECTION. SO WE WILL HAVE A NEW MAYOR IN MAY OR ELECTED IN MAY, AND THEN WE WILL HAVE AN AT LARGE DISTRICT SEAT AT A NEW FACE THERE, BECAUSE THOSE ARE OPEN SEATS. AND THEN WE HAVE TWO OTHERS THAT ARE UP FOR REELECTION, BUT THEY ARE CONTESTED. WELL, WE DON'T KNOW IF THEY'RE CONTESTED. THEY MAY BE CONTESTED, BUT THOSE ARE UP FOR REELECTION. SO A LOT A LOT OF ACTIVITY THAT ARE GOING TO BE HAPPENING OVER THE NEXT SIX MONTHS, CERTAINLY. BUT AS USUAL IN MCKINNEY, IT'S THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. I WANT TO SHARE A KIND OF A GOOD NEWS STORY WITH YOU FROM OUR BUILDING INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT. I SHARED THIS ALSO WITH OUR MEDC FOLKS EARLIER THIS WEEK. ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO AGO, THE BUILDING INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT ACHIEVED REACCREDITATION FROM THE INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION SERVICE. THE IRS. IRS IS AN INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY RECOGNITION THAT COMES FROM IMPLEMENTING A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FRAMEWORK OF BEST PRACTICES, REFLECTING STANDARDS OF HIGH PERFORMANCE ESTABLISHED BY PEER REVIEW AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL IN THE BUILDING INSPECTIONS TRADE. THERE WERE THREE EXPERT ASSESSORS THAT INTERVIEWED INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS, AND THEY REVIEWED OVER 60 DEPARTMENT POLICY DOCUMENTS AND QUALITY CONTROL REPORTS COVERING 13 CATEGORIES OF OUR OPERATIONS. WE ARE REALLY ENCOURAGED, OF COURSE, BECAUSE OF THEIR FINDINGS, BECAUSE WHAT IT DOES IS IT RECOGNIZES MCKINNEY AS ONE OF THE OF ONLY 26 CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING DEPARTMENTS IN THE COUNTRY TO BE ACCREDITED, AND ONE OF ONLY THREE IN TEXAS. PLANO AND SAN ANTONIO ARE THE OTHER TWO. THE BIGGER QUESTION IS WHY DO WE DO THIS? WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT? WHY IS IT MEANINGFUL? WELL, MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT HELPS US ESTABLISH CONSISTENCY IN OUR LEVEL OF SERVICE AND ABLE TO IDENTIFY CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES. RIGHT? WE CAN'T GET BETTER IF WE DON'T MEASURE WHAT'S MEANINGFUL. AND THIS IS WHAT THE PROCESS, THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS HELPS US WITH. SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. OUR BUILDING INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF SUZANNE ARNOLD, SHE'S THE CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL. THEY'RE DOING A TERRIFIC JOB AND WE APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU DO. AND THEY'RE QUITE BUSY BECAUSE WE'RE ONE OF THE FAST GROWING COMMUNITY LIKE MCKINNEY. THEY'RE VERY, VERY BUSY. AND THEY HAVE TO DO THIS STUFF IN THE MARGINS. AND SO THEY'RE REALLY DOING A GREAT JOB MANAGING THAT PART OF IT. I MENTIONED CITY HALL MOVE. WE WILL BE MOVING. THE WEEK OF JANUARY 6TH WILL BE THE FIRST GROUP OF MOVING. AND I THINK IN THREE WEEKS WE'LL BE ALL MOVED IN. SO BEAR WITH US ON THOSE PARTICULAR MOVE DATES. SO FOR EXAMPLE, ON JANUARY 6TH, WE HAVE A LOT OF FOLKS THAT ARE MOVING ON THAT DATE. WORK FROM HOME, WORK REMOTELY AS THEY MOVE YOUR STUFF IN AND THEN SHOW UP, BE AT THE OFFICE ON THE SEVENTH. WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE MOVE IT'S GOING TO. OF COURSE, WE'RE ABLE TO PHYSICALLY NOW BE ABLE TO FULFILL WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING ORGANIZATIONALLY, AND THAT'S WORKING VERY MUCH IN A COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT. BUT NOW WE HAVE THE SPATIAL ENVIRONMENT, THE PHYSICAL SPACE TO PROVIDE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN MORE NATURALLY THAN WHAT WE HAVE TODAY. SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE MOVE TO CITY HALL. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT'S A GREAT CATALYST FOR THAT PART OF TOWN, FOR IT'S GREAT CATALYST FOR THE FLOUR MILL DISTRICT, WHICH HAS BEEN A FAIRLY BLIGHTED INDUSTRIAL AREA THAT HAS, YOU KNOW, SAW ITS BETTER DAY A HUNDRED YEARS AGO WHEN THE COTTON MILL WAS WHEN THE COTTON PRESSES WERE WERE ROLLING. AND I THINK THE FLOUR MILL WAS PRODUCING LOLLIPOPS AT SOME POINT IN TIME. BUT THAT WAS A LONG TIME AGO. AND SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW FUTURE FOR THE FLOUR MILL DISTRICT IN MCKINNEY. AND CITY HALL IS A KEY COMPONENT OF THAT. SO WITH THAT, I WILL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. ANY QUESTIONS FOR MISTER. WELL, I JUST HAVE ONE COMMENT AND YOU KNOW, IT'S GOING TO BE SORRY KEITH SELF AND ALL THOSE OTHER ARMY GUYS, JUST NAVY JUST DOMINATED LAST WEEKEND AND IT WAS A FANTASTIC TO SEE THAT THEY DID NAVY DOMINATED. AND THE REASON WHY MR. RICH AND I COMMENT ON THIS BECAUSE WE WERE BOTH NAVY GUYS. SO WE ENJOY EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO THUMB OUR NOSE AT ARMY. WOULD WE BE MEETING OVER AT THE NEW FACILITIES? DO WE KNOW I'M SORRY, WHEN WOULD WE BE MEETING OVER AT THE NEW FACILITY? OH, THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION. I'M SORRY. I WAS GOING TO ADDRESS THAT. SO RIGHT NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT THE FIRST COUNCIL MEETING. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND MEETING IN FEBRUARY. WE STILL HAVE WE[00:15:02]
WANT TO MAKE SURE THE TECHNOLOGY IS WORKING RIGHT, THE RECORDING EQUIPMENT AND ALL OF THAT. SO I WOULD ANTICIPATE THE EDC AND CDC ALSO WILL PROBABLY BE EITHER THE MEETING IN FEBRUARY OR EVEN IN MARCH. IN THE MEANTIME, YOU'LL HAVE THE MEETINGS HERE. THIS BUILDING IS STILL OURS, OF COURSE, AND WE'LL STILL HAVE COUNCIL MEETINGS GOING TO MEET HERE IN JANUARY. IN THE FIRST MEETING IN FEBRUARY AT LEAST. AND UNTIL WE MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE EQUIPMENT IS WORKING AND IT'S FAIRLY SEAMLESS. THANK YOU FOR ASKING. AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, BOTH OF YOU, FOR YOUR SERVICE. THANK YOU. NEXT. MERRY CHRISTMAS, MERRY CHRISTMAS. THANK YOU. MAYOR.VISIT MCKINNEY. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AARON WARNER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MCKINNEY. THE FIRST THING I HAD ON MY LIST IS ACTUALLY VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT PAUL JUST SPOKE ABOUT. WITH ALL THAT'S HAPPENING IN MCKINNEY AND IN OUR COMMUNITY. SO I ECHO WHAT HE SAID WHILE WHILE WE RECOGNIZE THAT EACH OF THOSE PROJECTS ARE MASSIVE FOR OUR LOCAL RESIDENTS, OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, WHAT WE GET TO DO IN OUR OWN CITY LIMITS, IT'S ALSO REDEFINING WHAT MCKINNEY IS AS A DESTINATION AS WELL. AND SO OUR TEAM IS OBVIOUSLY ECSTATIC ABOUT WHAT'S TO COME. NEXT YEAR IS GOING TO BE INCREDIBLY BUSY, ESPECIALLY THIS SPRING FOR US AS WELL WITH ALL THE EVENTS WE'RE HOSTING. ONE OF THEM, I DON'T THINK I'VE SPOKEN ABOUT TOO MUCH HERE THAT'S OFFICIALLY PUBLIC NOW, IS THAT WE WILL BE HOSTING THE TEXAS OPEN FOR THE PPA, WHICH IS PROFESSIONAL PICKLEBALL THAT WILL BE AT THE COURTS OF MCKINNEY IN MARCH. AND SO THAT ONE IS ABOUT 1200 PLAYERS, THE TOP TEN IN THE WORLD AS FAR AS PICKLEBALL GOES, ABOUT 3000 ATTENDEES EVERY DAY OUT ON SITE AT THE EVENT. KIND OF COOL. THEY BUILD OUT FULL RAISED STADIUM SEATING ALL AROUND THE PICKLEBALL COURTS AND HAVE VIP LOUNGES AND ALL TYPES OF STUFF. SO KEEP THAT ONE ON YOUR RADAR. WE'LL HAVE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT IT COMING OUT SOON. THIS IS ALSO A BUSY WEEK FOR US. WE'RE HOSTING THE NCAA D2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, SOMETHING WE'RE PROUD TO DO EACH YEAR, AND PROUD TO HAVE EXTENDED THAT CONTRACT WITH NCAA. THIS YEAR WE HAVE VALDOSTA AND FERRIS STATE COMING BACK FOR THE THIRD TIME IN MCKINNEY. SO THIS IS A REMATCH. THERE'S A LOT OF EXCITEMENT AROUND THAT GAME.
BOTH OF THEM REALLY WANT TO WIN. AND SO WE ARE WE'RE GETTING READY FOR THAT. TOMORROW WE'LL HOST FAN FEST AT TUFTS AT 6 P.M. THAT'S FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. IF YOU WANT TO COME OUT AND HANG OUT WITH THE STUDENTS AND KIND OF CATCH A GLIMPSE OF THEIR EXCITEMENT, AND THEN THE GAME IS ON SATURDAY AT NOON OR ONE I'M NOW I'M SECOND GUESSING MYSELF. I'M SORRY, THIS JANUARY.
JANUARY 22ND, PRESIDENT KOSKI IS GOING TO JOIN ME IN WACO TO CO-PRESENT A SESSION AT OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOR CVBS TITLED BUILDING BRIDGES STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES THROUGH EDC COLLABORATION, SOMETHING I'M REALLY PROUD OF ABOUT THE CITY OF MCKINNEY IS OUR ABILITY TO COLLABORATE, CROSS-DEPARTMENTAL AND SO MANY THINGS THAT WE DO THAT IS NOT THAT IS NOT THE CASE EVERYWHERE. AND SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO SHARE THE STAGE WITH HIM AND TALK ABOUT HOW WE DO THAT HERE IN MCKINNEY. AND LASTLY, A LITTLE NUGGET I'LL GIVE YOU IF YOU HAVEN'T KEPT UP WITH THE NEWS, THE SHERATON AND MCKINNEY RECENTLY SOLD IT, SOLD TO WL MI CAPITAL OUT OF AUSTIN, A GREAT COMPANY. AND THE CEO TONY GUPTA GAVE ME A CALL. AND THEY ARE COMPLETELY BULLISH ON MCKINNEY. THEY'RE EXCITED TO BE HERE SPECIFICALLY WITH THE AMPHITHEATER PROJECT THAT WILL BE BUILT LITERALLY IN THE FRONT YARD OF THE SHERATON. SO THAT'S A BIG REASON WHY THEY WANTED THAT PROPERTY. THEY ALSO SWITCHED MANAGEMENT GROUPS. SO IT'S NO LONGER WITH AIMBRIDGE. IT'S NOW WITH TPG HOTELS AND RESORTS, WHICH IS ACTUALLY HEADQUARTERED IN THE SAME BUILDING AS EDC AND CDC. SO NOW YOU HAVE A LOCAL MANAGEMENT GROUP AS WELL, A NEW DIRECTOR OF SALES ON THE TEAM, AND WE MET WITH HER LAST WEEK THAT SHE HAS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON HOW TO SELL THAT PROPERTY THAN ANY OF THE OTHERS THAT WE'VE WORKED WITH, TO THE POINT THAT WE'RE ACTUALLY CO BOOKING TRIPS NEXT YEAR TO SHARE A TABLE AND PROMOTE MCKINNEY TOGETHER AS A DESTINATION WITH THE PROPERTY AND THE CVB AT THE SAME MEETINGS. AND THAT'S SOMETHING WE'VE NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO DO. SO EXCITED TO TRY SOME NEW THINGS WITH THEM. NEXT YEAR I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. ANY QUESTIONS FOR. THANK YOU, MR. WARNER. THANK YOU. ANY DC? GOOD MORNING. MICHAEL KOSKI, PRESIDENT OF THE MEDICI. WELL, I KIND OF STOLE MY THUNDER A LITTLE BIT, MR. GRIMES. I GOT EVERYTHING OUT. SO CANNON BEACH, WHAT GETS THE HEADLINES IS THE SURF COMPONENT. BUT LET ME UNPACK FOR THE AUDIENCE AND THOSE LISTENING AT HOME WHAT? IT'S REALLY ABOUT A RESORT HOTEL IN MCKINNEY. 100,000FT■S OF OFFICE SPACE, MOVIE THEATERS, BOWLING ALLEYS, RESTAURANTS. IT'S A TRUE MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT THAT DIDN'T REQUIRE RESIDENTIAL EITHER. THAT'S A HIGHLIGHT I WISH TO POINT OUT, BECAUSE MCKINNEY HAS THAT DENSITY NOW TO SUPPORT THESE TYPE OF PROJECTS. SO VERY PROUD
[00:20:02]
OF THAT. MORE TO COME IN JANUARY. WE'LL RELEASE MORE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THAT PROJECT.SO THANK YOU FOR THE PARTNERSHIP ON THAT. WE HAD LAST WEEK. OUR CHAMBER Q4 EVENT. WE PARTNERED WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUR TIMES A YEAR TO PRESENT PROGRAM, AND THIS TIME IT WAS ON STARTUPS. AND MANY OF YOU JOINED THAT MEETING VERY SUCCESSFUL. OVER 100 PEOPLE CAME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT STARTUPS AND TECHNOLOGY IN MCKINNEY. AND I BRING IT UP BECAUSE LAST WEEK AS WELL, IBM JOINED US TO TALK MORE ABOUT MCKINNEY AND HOW THEY CAN HAVE A BIGGER PRESENCE IN MCKINNEY BECAUSE OF WHAT WE'RE DOING WITH STARTUPS. SO I'M BOOKENDING WHAT WE'RE DOING IN THE EDC, THE BIG LEGACY PROJECTS, ALSO THE SMALL STARTUPS WITH TWO PEOPLE ON AN IDEA COMING TOGETHER IN OUR GREAT CITY. AND I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS. I HAD MEETINGS AS WELL YESTERDAY WITH TWO MAJOR COMPANIES FOR HQ RELOCATIONS INTO MCKINNEY, AND WE TALK A LOT ABOUT WHY MCKINNEY AND IT'S QUALITY OF LIFE. IT'S THE VOLUNTEER SPIRIT IS EVERYTHING.
THE PEOPLE IN THIS AUDIENCE TODAY WILL SPEAK ABOUT THAT RESONATES NOT ONLY IN LOCALLY, BUT ALSO INTERNATIONALLY AND NATIONALLY WHEN I TRAVEL. SO I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU ALL AND SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. ANY QUESTIONS FOR MISTER KOSKI. JUST A COMMENT, MR. CASTLE. JUST I DID ATTEND THE IBM MEETING LAST WEEK. IT WAS. I FOCUSED AND DID NOT KNOW THAT THEY WERE ALREADY PARTNERED WITH SOME EXISTING COMPANIES IN MCKINNEY WITH SOME OF THEIR I. IT'S VERY INTERESTING ON ON HOW SO DID APPRECIATE THAT. THANK YOU.
OKAY. THANK YOU. THANKS. MAIN STREET IMPACT MISTER ANDREW GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM PRESIDENT MCDC BOARD. MERRY CHRISTMAS ANDREW JONES, DIRECTOR OF THE CULTURAL DISTRICT. FIRST OFF, SPECIAL THANK YOU TO YOU ALL AND THE BOARD FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE DOWNTOWN DECOR.
SO WE'VE UPGRADED A LOT OF DECORATIONS. OUR TREE, WE ADDED A NUMBER OF PHOTO OPS. AND THEN IF YOU COME DOWN TO MITCHELL PARK, IT IS AMAZING TO SEE THAT THING AT NIGHT WITH, YOU KNOW, AT ANY GIVEN TIME, THERE'S 50 TO 60. YOU KNOW, I'VE SEEN 100 PEOPLE IN THAT PARK HAVING FUN WITH THE PHOTO OPS THERE. SO HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THAT HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. WE HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. WE SAW A 34% INCREASE IN REVENUE AND ATTENDANCE AS WELL. WE KIND OF ATTRIBUTE THAT TO OBVIOUSLY GREAT WEATHER, BUT ALSO SOME AWESOME MARKETING EFFORTS BY THE TEAM WE HAD. WE'VE INCREASED OUR REACH DRAMATICALLY BY OVER 100% ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER THINGS, AND THAT KIND OF LEADS US INTO OUR BUY HARD SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY VIDEO. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THAT, THAT WAS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A STAR IN THE AUDIENCE.
JAKAYA HELPED COME UP WITH THAT AND THEN GREGORY STARRED IN THAT AS WELL. SO IT WAS A PHENOMENAL VIDEO. WE HAD OVER 500,000 VIEWS ON THAT VIDEO ALONE OVER THE COURSE OF JUST ABOUT TWO WEEKS.
WE ALSO WRAPPED UP OUR GIRLS NIGHT OUT, WHICH IS A SHOPPING EVENT THAT WE PUT ON FOR OUR SMALL BUSINESSES, THAT WE SAW A 25% INCREASE THIS YEAR, WHICH WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT, AND THEN COMING TO SOME UPCOMING EVENTS. THIS FRIDAY, WE ARE HOSTING THE GIVING MACHINES AGAIN IN DOWNTOWN, SO IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH THAT, YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO BUY A KIND OF LIKE A CREDIT THAT GOES TO MANY DIFFERENT SMALL OR SMALL NONPROFITS OR LARGE NONPROFITS ALL AROUND. AND IT'S A, YOU KNOW, IT'S A VENDING MACHINE. AND SO IT DROPS TO THE BOTTOM.
AND AS ALL THOSE CONTRIBUTIONS ACCUMULATE, YOU SEE THAT THAT MASSIVE CONTRIBUTION AT THE END, IT'S REALLY EXCITING. AND WE'VE MOVING THEM TO THE GUAVA TREE PARKING LOT RIGHT OVER THERE.
THEY HAVE A LOT MORE SPACE TO PROGRAM THAT AREA, AND SO WE'RE EXCITED TO HELP THEM WITH THAT.
DECEMBER 20TH OR 21ST IMPACT CHRISTMAS MOVIES. WE HAVE THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE OF ALL, DIE HARD. WE ALSO HAVE POLAR EXPRESS, MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL, ELF SING ALONG. ALL OF THOSE ARE REALLY FUN. AND THEN DECEMBER 30TH WE ARE HOSTING THE MENORAH LIGHTING BACK AT MITCHELL PARK THIS YEAR FOR HANUKKAH. AND THEN WE ARE GEARING UP FOR OUR BRIDAL SHOW THAT WE DO EVERY JANUARY IN IMPACT. AND THAT'S GOING TO BE JANUARY 18TH. SO WITH THAT, I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS. I JUST WANT TO I DO HAVE A COMMENT. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO OUR CITY STAFF AND YOUR STAFF FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION IN PREPARING SUCH GREAT EVENTS FOR US. I KNOW BEFORE THANKSGIVING, I WAS DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY AND JUST SAW THE STAFF NINE 10:00 STILL OUT THERE WORKING. AND SO THEIR SACRIFICE SO THAT WE CAN ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE STAFF, CITY STAFF AND EVERYONE FOR I MEAN, I TOLD THEM WHEN I WAS I WAS LIKE, THANK YOU. AS I WAS COMING OUT OF COCKTAIL CREAMERY, I SAID, THANK YOU SO
[00:25:06]
MUCH. BUT I MEAN, I JUST EVERY YEAR I JUST I'M JUST IN AWE THAT IN MOST OF THEM DON'T LOOK LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE THERE. THEY ARE SO EAGER AND VERY HAPPY. AND THEY DO APPRECIATE KNOWING THAT THEY ARE APPRECIATED. SO THANK YOU AGAIN. WELL, WE ARE PRIVILEGED, WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM, AND WE HAVE LOTS OF DIFFERENT CITY DEPARTMENTS THAT WE WORK WITH, AND ALL OF THEM CONTRIBUTE WITH A SMILE, MOST OF THE TIME WITH A SMILE. THANK YOU ANDREA, ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE A GREGORY AND COSTUME AT THE MOVIE? AT LEAST WE ARE WORKING ON SHOWING THAT AS A PREVIEW BEFORE. YEAH. AND THEN ALSO I JUST WANT TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PARADE.IT WAS A FANTASTIC TIMES. SORRY FOR THOSE HOOLIGANS IN THE VERY FRONT AT THE END OF THE PARADE.
THAT WAS KIND OF HOLDING IT UP A LITTLE BIT. THOSE BIKES, YOU KNOW, JUST CAUSING TROUBLE. BUT IT WAS STILL A FANTASTIC TIME. WE ALWAYS MANAGE. THANK YOU. JUST CHECKING. YOU SAID 40% INCREASE AT HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS 34%. 34%. YES. AND YOU ALSO HAD SOMEWHERE IN THE 30S FOR OKTOBERFEST FOR INCREASE. YES. NICE. THANK YOU. SO A QUICK COMMENT, ANDREW. I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND WHILE WE WERE EATING, WE MET A LOVELY COUPLE FROM QUINTON, OKLAHOMA. THEY ASKED WHERE WE WERE FROM. WE TEND TO SAY DALLAS BECAUSE WE THINK NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HEARD FROM MCKINNEY, BUT THIS TIME WE SAID MCKINNEY AND THE WIFE SAID, OH, WE LOVE MCKINNEY. OUR DAUGHTER IS FROM MCKINNEY AND WE ENJOY SHOPPING DOWNTOWN AND DINING. SO I WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT. WELL, THAT MAKES ME FEEL GREAT. THANK YOU. APPRECIATE THANK YOU. PARKS AND REC. AMY. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. PRESIDENT, BOARD MEMBERS, AMY KINCAID, PRESIDENT OR NOT? PRESIDENT. SORRY. LISTEN TO PRESIDENT KOSKI OVER HERE. I JUST I'M TRYING TO TAKE THE TITLE DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND REC. I KNOW THAT A LOT OF THE EVENTS WERE MENTIONED THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, BUT THE ONE I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU THE MOST IS FOR THOSE THAT WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOUR EARLY IN NOVEMBER. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE AND SHOWING EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND ALL THE NEW STUFF COMING ON BOARD. SO THANK YOU GUYS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THAT. IT WAS A COLD, WET MORNING. SOME OF THE GREAT THINGS THAT ARE TAKING PLACE IN PARKS AND REC HORIZON PLAYGROUND HAS BEEN COMPLETED. HORIZON PARK IS LOCATED BETWEEN RIDGE AND LAKE FOREST, OFF OF VIRGINIA AND JUST NORTH OF VIRGINIA. SO JUST GO BY, CHECK IT OUT. AVIATOR IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. SHOULD BE COMPLETED SOMETIME IN JANUARY. AND THAT IS ON THE WEST SIDE OF CUSTER, JUST SOUTH OF 380. BOTH OF THOSE WILL BE REPURPOSED THROUGH THE PERFECT PLAYGROUND PROJECT, SO WE'LL GIVE IT TO IMPROVE THE PLAYGROUND PROGRAMS. SORRY. THE PLAYGROUNDS WILL GO TO UNPRIVILEGED AREAS. SO THAT'S A GREAT PROGRAM THAT WE PARTICIPATE IN. GABE FIELD AND SIGNAGE IMPROVEMENTS ARE BUILDING IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY AND WE'RE READY, BUT IT'S JUST NOT A GREAT TIME TO BID. I'M IN DECEMBER, SO WE'LL WAIT UNTIL JANUARY TO GET THOSE OUT. THE TOWN LAKE LIGHT WALK VERY EXCITING, WAS PASSED THROUGH COUNCIL ON TUESDAY, SO WE ARE MOVING FORWARD ON THAT AND WE WILL BE ABLE TO HOPEFULLY STAGE AND MOVE FORWARD ON CONSTRUCTION ON THAT IN JANUARY.
I'M VERY EXCITED TO SEE THAT. THAT'S ABOUT A SIX MONTH PROJECT AND THE DOG PARK IS MOVING FORWARD. AFTER GETTING APPROVAL WITH THE TEXAS HISTORIC COMMISSION. SO WE WILL BE MOVING FORWARD ON THAT. WE HAVE MOVED THAT FORWARD FROM DESIGN TO CIVIL PLAN PREP. SO WE'RE GETTING CLOSER AND THAT PROJECTS PARK PROJECT IS STILL ONGOING THROUGH CONSTRUCTION. THE REC CENTER AT TOWN LAKE IS STILL HANGING IN THERE THROUGH CONSTRUCTION AGAIN. HOPEFULLY IT WILL. WE'RE AIMING AT ABOUT APRIL AND SO I'LL KEEP YOU GUYS UPDATED ON THAT. THE SOCCER COMPLEX PHASE TWO ADVERTISING WILL GO OUT THIS WEEKEND, SO WE ARE MOVING FORWARD ON THE BID PROCESS ON THAT PROJECT TO BEGIN IN THE SPRING OF 2025. OLD SETTLER'S PARK IMPROVEMENT.
WE'RE LOOKING TO BID CONSTRUCTION, BID CONSTRUCTION IN 2025, AND WE'RE WAITING ON THE FINAL DESIGN WORK ON VIRGINIA, SO WE WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE. WE'RE JUST WAITING TO SEE HOW THE SEWAGE LINES WILL GO IN. OTHER THAN THAT ONE EXCITING
[00:30:06]
THING, I KNOW THAT I VISIT, MCKINNEY MENTIONED THE PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT COMING IN, BUT INTERNATIONAL GIRLS CUP OF MCKINNEY WILL BE COMING IN APRIL 16TH THROUGH 20TH, AND WE, THROUGH THE WORK OF VISIT MCKINNEY, WERE ABLE TO BOOK 2200 ROOMS WITH ANTICIPATION OF 220 TO 225 TEAMS INTERNATIONALLY, AND THIS IS A HUGE IMPACT FOR THE AREA AS WELL AS MCKINNEY.WE'RE JUST EXCITED TO HAVE THAT. WE WILL BE HAVING AN OPENING CEREMONIES ON TUESDAY, APRIL 15TH AT TUFTS, AND WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO THAT WITH MORE DETAILS TO COME. AND WITH THAT, I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. ANY. I'M SORRY YOU YOU SAID THIS EVENT WILL HAVE 2200 ROOMS ROOM NIGHTS. DO WE EVEN HAVE 2200 ROOMS IN THE CITY OF MCKINNEY? WE'RE HAVING TO GO TO OTHER NEARBY CITIES. BUT VISIT MCKINNEY HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE AREAS, BUT IT'S A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. IT'S ROOM NIGHTS. YEAH, YEAH, THAT'S LIKE LITERALLY EVERY HOTEL ROOM IN THE CITY. PLUS. SO YEAH. ANY OTHER COMMENTS? ANY? I KNOW I'VE TOLD YOU THIS BEFORE, BUT I JUST WANT TO PUT IT PUBLICLY THAT BILLIE JEAN KING TOURNAMENT YOU GUYS HAD, I WAS ABLE TO MEET ONE OF THE GUYS THAT HE AND HIS BROTHER WERE PROFESSIONAL TENNIS PLAYERS, WON THE FRENCH OPEN IN DOUBLES. I CAN'T REMEMBER HIS LAST NAME. HIS NAME WAS MURPHY, BUT I WAS TALKING TO HIM AND HE DEFINITELY DID TELL ME. HE SAID, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, DAVID, HE GOES TO MCKINNEY. WILL NOW GO TO ITEM 24 2260. CONSIDER, DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL AND COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY MILLHOUSE FOUNDATION PC 2508. IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 FOR ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 MILL HOUSE ARTS FESTIVAL AND MAKER'S MARK MARKET EVENTS AT THE MCKINNEY COTTON MILL. THANK YOU. WELL, THANK YOU GUYS, MERRY CHRISTMAS.MY NAME IS AMY WOLVERTON. MY SISTER BETH BECK AND I FOUNDED MILL HOUSE BACK IN 2019. ONCE AGAIN SHE IS YOU GET ME? BECAUSE SHE IS VISITING HER MISSIONARY DAUGHTER IN SOUTH AFRICA. SO.
BUT I'M GLAD TO BE HERE WITH YOU SO. AND I CAN SEE THE ARROWS THIS YEAR. YAY! THIS IS GREAT.
SO WE MILHOUSE'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT MICROBUSINESS OWNERS IN CREATIVE FIELDS. WE ARE AT THE MICRO LEVEL FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST STARTING THEIR BUSINESS ARTISTS, MAKERS, ARTISANS. I WANTED TO SHOW YOU OUR LATEST MURAL BY GAIL DELGER AND DANA BARAK ON THE COTTON MILL. YOU NEED TO GO SEE IT. IT'S PRETTY AWESOME. OUR PROGRAM PRIORITIES AND THE ONE I WANT TO DISCUSS IS WE ARE HERE TO ENHANCE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL CREATIVES. WE CREATE OUR FESTIVALS AND OUR MARKETS TO GIVE PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO GET IN FRONT OF NEW, NEW CUSTOMERS, NEW PATRONS, TO SELL THEIR ITEMS AND TO BRING IN SALES TAX INTO OUR CITY. WE PARTNER WITH THE MCKINNEY COTTON MILL FOR COLLABORATIVE EXPRESSION WITH PUBLIC ART. WE NOW HAVE 38 MURALS ON THE COTTON MILL. THEY'RE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, AND WE DO HAVE A MURAL MAP, SO YOU'RE WELCOME TO COME BY AND SEE THEM AT ANY TIME. SO WE HAVE HAD. TEN ART FESTS SINCE WE STARTED IN 2019. WE HAVE HAD THE ARTISTS CONTINUALLY TELL US THAT THEY HAVE GREAT SALES, THEIR BEST SALES. THEY LOOK FORWARD TO COMING THERE AND WE'VE HAD OUR OUR ATTENDANCE INCREASE EVERY YEAR. WE HAVE HAD THREE OUTDOOR MARKETS DURING THE PANDEMIC. THESE ARE OUR MAKERS MARKETS. THESE ARE FOR ARTISANS, OUR PEOPLE, OUR CANDLE MAKERS, OUR CLOTHING DESIGNERS, THOSE TYPE OF PEOPLE. AND WE'VE HAD 12 INDOOR MARKETS SINCE WE STARTED THOSE IN 2023. WE HAVE HAD THREE MURAL FESTS. LAST YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO LEVERAGE THE CITY STAGE AND BRING IN MUSICIANS, SO THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN WITH THAT AS WELL. IN 2025, WE HAVE NINE MAKERS MARKETS PLANNED AND TWO INDOOR ART FESTIVALS. WE RUN THOSE IN AUGUST AND FEBRUARY, WHEN OTHER MARKETS CAN'T DO THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE OUTSIDE. SO IT GIVES ARTISTS A NEW AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO WORK.
IN THOSE MONTHS. WE HAVE TWO NEW PROJECTS THAT WE'RE ENTERING THIS YEAR, THE EAST MCKINNEY MURAL PROJECT, WHICH WE'RE DOING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DEBORAH BRADFORD. WE'RE GOING TO COLLABORATE AND DESIGN A MURAL AT AN EAST MCKINNEY COMPLEX IN THE SPRING. AND WE ALSO ARE INTRODUCING WE'RE EXPLORING. OOPS, SORRY, I DIDN'T MEAN TO GO FORWARD. WE'RE EXPLORING OUR INTERNATIONAL ART IN ACTION, WHERE WE ARE GOING TO PARTNER WITH AN INTERNATIONAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION TO ENHANCE THE SKILLS FOR THEIR LOCAL ARTISANS. AND WE HOPE IN YEARS, IN THE FUTURE, WE CAN BRING SOME OF THEIR ARTISANS HERE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR MARKETS AND SELL IN MCKINNEY, OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS CREATIVES. OBVIOUSLY, WE'RE LOOKING OUT FOR THE ARTISTS AND THE MAKERS, BUT IT'S ALSO THEY'RE THE SHOPPERS, THE ART PATRONS, COLLECTORS, FAMILIES. THOSE ARE OUR TARGET AUDIENCES. SO OUR MARKETING STRATEGY, WE WORK WITH PRINT MEDIA, WITH COMMUNITY IMPACT. WE ALSO DO ONLINE MARKETING THROUGH META SOCIAL MEDIA. AND THEN WE LEVERAGE THE FREE MARKETING AS MUCH AS WE CAN. LET'S SEE, HERE WE GO FOR OUR MARKETING, FOR OUR 14 EVENTS. SO WHEN WE LOOK AT WE AND I DO WANT TO SAY WE HAVE 14 EVENTS THAT WE'RE ASKING FOR. SO THE $15,000 THAT WE'RE ASKING YOU FOR IS FOR MULTIPLE MULTIPLE EVENTS. IF WE COULD DO EVERYTHING WE WANTED TO DO, WE WOULD PROBABLY SPEND ABOUT $40,000 TO BE ABLE TO ACCURATELY MARKET THESE EVENTS. WE DON'T HAVE THAT. SO WE USE WE BARE BONES IT AND DO THE BEST THAT WE CAN. AND WE APPRECIATE EVERY DOLLAR THAT YOU GIVE US. THIS IS OUR MILL HOUSE BUDGET FOR 2025.
AS YOU CAN SEE, THE MAJORITY OF THE MONEY THAT WE BRING IN, WE DO SPEND, WE DO GIVE OUT TO ARTISTS, TO STIPENDS AND COORDINATORS. WE TRY. THAT'S WHAT WE THAT'S WHAT WE'RE HERE
[00:40:01]
FOR. AND FINALLY, EACH EVENT THAT WE HAVE, WE BRING IN NEW VISITORS TO THE COTTON MILL, NEW VISITORS TO MCKINNEY. WE ALWAYS DIRECT PEOPLE DOWNTOWN. AND THE LAST TIME THAT WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE CELL PHONE DATA, IT DID SHOW THAT 70% OF THE PEOPLE THAT CAME TO OUR EVENTS WERE NOT FROM MCKINNEY, AND WE ALSO SHOWED THAT THEY EITHER CAME DOWNTOWN AFTER OUR EVENTS OR THEY THEY CAME FROM DOWNTOWN TO OUR EVENTS. SO WE TRY TO WORK WITH THE DOWNTOWN AREA, AND WE ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO GO TO THE RESTAURANTS AND THE SHOPPING AFTER OUR EVENTS. SO HAPPY SHOPPERS, EQUAL HAPPY AUDIENCE, ALL ARTISTS, EQUAL SALES TAX DOLLARS FOR THE CITY. SO ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? OKAY. YOU HAD 20S LEFT. I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T TELL YOU. I WAS GOING TO TELL YOU I WOULD MAKE IT. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? OKAY. THANK YOU, I APPRECIATE IT. ONE COMMENT, THEN WE HAVE ONE. IT'S NOT A QUESTION. IT'S JUST, YOU KNOW, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE VARIETY FOR THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT YOU'RE DOING OVER THERE. YOU KNOW, WE DON'T ATTEND ALL OF THEM. BUT BUT WE DO GO OVER THERE QUITE A BIT. AND I HAD A NICE SERVICE FOR THE FOR THE LOCAL ARTISTS THAT ARE THERE. SO THANK YOU TO POINT THAT OUT. THANK YOU. APPRECIATE IT. THANK[Consider/Discuss Promotional and Community Event Grant Application Submitted by Texas Women Society (PC 25-01) in the Amount of $11,000.00 for the Advertising, Marketing and Promotion of the 2025 McKinney Asian Festival.]
YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS. ANY OTHER COMMENTS. OKAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. NEXT ITEM 20 4-2261.CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY THE TEXAS WOMEN'S SOCIETY PC 20 5-01. IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,000 FOR THE ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 MCKINNEY ASIAN FESTIVAL. GOOD MORNING, PRESIDENT AND THE BOARD IN. GOOD MORNING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I'M GENE GUN, THE BOARD MEMBER OF TEXAS. WOMEN'S FACILITY. AND YEAH, FIRST LET ME INTRODUCE WHO ARE WE? TEXAS WOMEN'S SOCIETY IS A NONPROFIT.
501 C WOMEN MANAGED ORGANIZATION AND OPERATED BY WOMEN FOCUSED ON WOMEN AND FOR WOMEN. AND BEFORE I INTRODUCE MY PROPOSAL, LET'S LET'S REVIEW ON THE MCKINNEY ASIAN FESTIVAL THIS YEAR. AND WE HOSTED THE MCKINNEY ASIAN FESTIVAL IN. DOCTOR GLENN MITCHELL MEMORIAL PARK. AND WE HAVE NEARLY 5000 ATTENDANTS, AND WE HAVE 150 VOLUNTEERS HELPED U. AND WE HELD SIX AND 70 VENDORS AND 35 PERFORMANCES IN THIS FESTIVAL. AND WE HAVE ACTIVITIES INCLUDING DECORATION, PERFORMANCE AND CULTURE WORKSHOPS. AND YEAH, AS YOU KNOW, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HELD A FESTIVAL IN MCKINNEY. AND IT'S A VERY BIG SUCCESS. AND OUR PROPOSED PLAN IS MCKINNEY ASIAN FESTIVAL NEXT YEAR. AND THE SAME LOCATION, THE SIMILAR TIME IS ON MARCH 29TH FROM 11 A.M. TO 6 P.M. AND IN THE ACTIVITIES INCLUDING THE SIMILAR STRUCTURE. YEAH, THE PERFORMANCE AND THE DECORATION AND THE CULTURAL WORKSHOPS AND SOMETHING LIKE THAT. AND WHY WE WANT TO WHY WE WOULD LIKE TO HOST ASIAN FESTIVAL IN MCKINNEY. FIRST, WE WANT TO IMPROVE CULTURAL EXCHANGE, AND SECOND, WE WANT TO PROMOTE DENTON. AND THE THIRD, WE WOULD LIKE TO EXPAND FUTURE MARKETING MARKET. AND AS YOU KNOW, WE HOSTED THE TWO FESTIVALS IN MCKINNEY LAST THIS YEAR, IT'S MCKINNEY ASIAN FESTIVAL IN MARCH AND THE MCKINNEY MOON FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER. AND WE THINK THE COLLABORATION IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US BECAUSE WE WANT TO ADD MORE ATTRACTIVENESS AND FRESHNESS TO OUR FESTIVAL. WE DON'T WANT TO MAKE THE ALWAYS THE SAME OR SIMILAR FESTIVALS EVERY YEAR, YEAR AFTER YEAR. YEAH, WE DO WANT TO ADD SOME NEW THINGS, NEW COLOR TO OUR FESTIVAL, SO WE NEED TO COLLABORATE WITH A WIDE RANGE OF ORGANIZATIONS, BOTH ASIAN AND NON-ASIAN ORGANIZATIONS. AND WE ALSO HOPE TO CELEBRATE CULTURAL
[00:45:08]
DIVERSITY AND PROMOTE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. MOST IMPORTANT, WE WANT TO CREATE A SIGNATURE EVENT FOR MCKINNEY. YEAH, LET'S SEE THE BUDGET. OUR INCOME COME FROM, MAINLY FROM THREE SOURCES.THAT'S GRANT SPONSORSHIP AND VENDOR APPLICATION. ALTOGETHER, WE ESTIMATE IT'S ABOUT 50,000.
AND THE EXPENSE IN EXPENSE INCLUDED TWO TWO PARTS MARKETING AND EVENT OPERATION. IT'S ESTIMATED ALMOST THE SAME AS THE INCOME. AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY, ACCORDING TO THE BUDGET, AND THIS IS NOT A VERY BIG FESTIVAL OR EVENT. AND TEXAS WOMEN'S FACILITY, DO YOU WANT TO DO MORE AND WANT TO EXPLORE A WIDER STAGE IN MCKINNEY? SO WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS? I WAS READING THE REPORT THAT YOU THAT WE RECEIVED. ARE YOU ALL EVER GOING TO LOOK AT MAYBE MOVING THE LOCATION? BECAUSE I DID READ THAT YOU GUYS DURING THE MOON FESTIVAL HAD A LITTLE ISSUES WITH VENDORS GETTING IN AND PARKING, AND I WENT LAST YEAR.
IT WAS FANTASTIC EVENT, HAD A GREAT TIME, BUT IT IS GETTING PRETTY FULL IN THERE. AND I JUST WONDERED IF YOU GUYS HAD ANY OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE JUST SO YOU COULD GROW IT EVEN MORE. YOU MEAN FROM MITCHELL PARK TO ANOTHER LOCATION WHERE MORE PEOPLE COULD GET IN IN MCKINNEY? YEAH, YEAH. YOU KNOW, DOCTOR GLENN. MICHELLE MEMORIAL PARK IS A LUCKY PLACE FOR US. YEAH, WE REALLY LIKE IT VERY MUCH. BUT IT'S A BEGINNING POINT. IF THERE IS OTHER OPPORTUNITY WE WOULD LIKE TO TRY. YEAH, I THINK THE I THINK THE POINT NEEDS TO BE UNDERLINED A LITTLE BIT. THIS EVENT IS TOO BIG FOR MITCHELL PARK. IT IS A LOGISTICAL DIFFICULTY TO HOLD THE EVENT THERE. YOU IT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL. YOU DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE EVENT. I THINK WE LOVE THAT YOU'RE DOING THIS EVENT. IT'S TOO BIG FOR MITCHELL PARK. IT'S JUST 5000 PEOPLE IN THE COURSE OF AN AFTERNOON IN MITCHELL PARK, WITH ALL OF THE PARKING, ALL OF THE VENDORS, I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT YOU HOLDING IT THERE AGAIN. GIVEN THAT YOU'RE LIKELY TO GROW AND THE SUCCESS OF THE FIRST YEAR, I THINK WE NEED TO CONSIDER ANOTHER LOCATION. YEAH, YEAH, MAYBE WE CAN CONSIDER. BUT I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION IS HOW WE CAN IMPROVE THE TRANSPORTATION IN THE DOWNTOWN. MAYBE WE CAN HAVE SOME SHUTTLE LINES TO CARRY PEOPLE FROM SOME LITTLE DISTANCE FAR AWAY TO HERE. YEAH. MAYBE SOME PUBLIC PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO BRING PEOPLE FROM THE FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY PARKING TO, TO THE FESTIVAL SPOT. YEAH. TO THIS PARK. WELL, WE DO HAVE SHUTTLES IN DOWNTOWN, AND I KNOW THAT ANDREW WILL WORK WITH YOU ON, ON THAT TYPICALLY EVENT SPONSORS WILL PAY FOR SHUTTLES TO REMOTE PARKING. WE TALKED ABOUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS IN RELATION TO THIS EVENT OR ANOTHER EVENT THAT WAS AT MITCHELL PARK, BUT HAVING MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN DOWNTOWN. WHAT DO WE CALL THAT LITTLE PARK OVER OFF OF KENTUCKY CENTRAL PARK? OTHER, OTHER SMALL PARKS OR PARKING LOTS OR AREAS AROUND DOWNTOWN? YOU COULD SPREAD OUT THE EVENT. WE HAVE DOZENS OF EVENTS IN MITCHELL PARK ANNUALLY DON'T STRESS THE INFRASTRUCTURE TO THE SAME DEGREE THAT THIS EVENT DOES, SO I KNOW THAT ANDREW WILL BE WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU, AND AARON AT CVB CAN HELP YOU FIND OTHER EVENT PLACES, BUT I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE YOU TO FIND TO THINK UP SOME IDEAS TO MANAGE THIS EVENT IN THIS SPACE. YES.
WE WOULD LIKE TO DO A COMMENT AND I'LL MAKE DO YOU DO LIKE POST EVALUATIONS FROM YOUR VENDORS OR YOUR PERFORMERS? DO YOU TO ASK THEM ABOUT THE CAPACITY IN IN THE LOCATION?
[00:50:04]
HAVE YOU ASKED YOUR VENDORS OR EVEN SENT OUT SURVEYS? YOU KNOW, I KNOW YOU HAVE A MAYBE A DISTRIBUTION LIST. I MEAN, AND IT'S NOT JUST YOUR EVENT, IT'S ANY EVENT. I MEAN, THAT WE'VE MITCHELL PARK, BEAUTIFUL PARK, GREAT. GREAT MEMORIES, VERY HISTORIC. BUT I THINK IN ANY EVENT, THAT IS PULLING 5000. SO DO YOU DO POST EVALUATIONS FROM YOUR PARTICIPANTS AND TO ASK THEM, YES, WE DO ASK THEM TO DO SOMETHING LIKE A PARK FAR AWAY AND GIVE THEM INSTRUCTION, SHOW THEM OTHER PARKING AREAS. YEAH. AND YEAH WE DO. WE DID DO SOMETHING. OKAY. YEAH. BECAUSE I AND I PROBABLY I DIDN'T LOOK TO SEE IF THAT INFORMATION WAS IN THERE. AND AGAIN THIS IS NOT JUST SPECIFIC TO YOUR EVENT. THIS IS MANY EVENTS. WE HAVE LOTS OF EVENTS THAT JUST IT FEELS LIKE, YOU KNOW, SO JUST I WANT YOU TO KNOW IT IS NOT SINGLING OUT YOUR EVENT. BUT YEAH I THINK YOU MISUNDERSTOOD WHAT SHE WAS ASKING. SHE WAS ASKING YOU, YOUR VENDORS, YOUR.DO YOU ASK THEM AFTERWARDS TO DO A SURVEY TO RATE 1 TO 10 ON HOW LOGISTICALLY IT WAS GETTING IN AND GETTING OUT? DID YOU DO YOU ASK YOUR VENDORS ON HOW IT GOES? YEAH. DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR THEM. YEAH. OKAY. MAY I ASK? AND I DON'T KNOW IF WE CAN CALL ANDREW, BUT IS THERE A THRESHOLD FOR WHEN AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCE THE CITY CLOSES STREETS? IS THAT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE EVENT HOST, OR IS THERE A CERTAIN PARTNERSHIP THAT HAS TO BE FORMALIZED, LIKE AN MOU, WHERE THE CITY CAN CLOSE OFF THE NEIGHBORING STREETS AND THE EVENT COULD EXPAND BEYOND THE PARK ITSELF? I CAN HELP ANSWER THAT QUESTION. SORRY. YEAH. I'M SORRY. BECAUSE YOU'RE. YEAH. SO THERE IS A SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE THAT REVIEWS ALL SPECIAL EVENTS WITHIN THE CITY POLICE, FIRE, YOU KNOW, OUR TRAFFIC AND ENGINEERING FOLKS, THEY'LL COME TOGETHER AND THEY'LL ANALYZE A PROPOSED PLAN WITH THAT. YOU KNOW, LIKE, INITIALLY IT'S THE ESTIMATE FROM THE APPLICANT THAT THAT, YOU KNOW, DETERMINES THAT FOR MITCHELL PARK, WE HAVE SEEN EVENTS, YOU KNOW, UP TO, YOU KNOW, 6000 PEOPLE IN THAT PARK. IT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF EVENT AND HOW IT'S STRUCTURED. AND IN THAT THAT FACILITY, HOW MANY BOOTHS, YOU KNOW, ARE THEY TAKING BINS, CHURCH STREET, ARE THEY EVEN GOING INTO THE PARKING LOT? ALL THOSE THINGS ARE FACTORS THAT THE COMMITTEE, YOU KNOW, LOOK AT FOR THAT SPECIFIC AREA. AND IF THE COMMITTEE WERE TO APPROVE IT, IS THERE AN EXPENSE INCUMBENT UPON THE HOST? IT'S ALWAYS INCUMBENT UPON THE FOR PRIVATE SPECIAL EVENTS. THEY HANDLE TRAFFIC CONTROL. ALL YOU KNOW POLICE ALL THE REQUIREMENTS. SO YOU KNOW, IT IS KIND OF A IT'S KIND OF A BIG ORDEAL TO GO TO THE SPECIAL EVENT COMMITTEE AND THEN NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND, YOU KNOW, HOW MANY POLICE POLICE IS GOING TO SAY NEED TO BE THERE FOR THAT EVENT AND THEN YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT? OKAY. CAN YOU GIVE A SENSE OF MAYBE EVEN A RANGE OF WHAT PRIOR HOSTS HAVE PAID FOR THE YOU KNOW, I DON'T THINK THERE'S AN APPLICATION FEE NECESSARILY FOR THE SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER. IT IS. YEAH. OKAY. SO WHAT ARE SOME OF THE 150 FOR THE FEE. FOR THE APPLICATION FEE. BUT BUT TRAFFIC CONTROL. YOU KNOW I GOT TO LOOK BACK. I DON'T REMEMBER OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD I WOULD ESTIMATE AROUND 1500 FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL, 1500, BUT AROUND 5000. YEAH. OKAY. SO 5000 JUST FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL. YOU MEAN THE TRAFFIC TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANE? THE PAY FOR THE COMPANY FOR THE BARRICADES, 1000. MORE THAN 1000. YEAH. OKAY. SO AND THEN THERE'S ADDITIONAL EXPENSES FOR FIRE AND POLICE, NOT FOR FIRE. POLICE. POLICE. DO YOU KNOW WHAT GENERALLY THAT MIGHT BE? I THINK RIGHT NOW IT'S AN HOURLY RATE FOR THE OFFICERS AND IT'S A MINIMUM OF THREE. I THINK IT'S $60 AN HOUR. IT'S ABOUT 1400. BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW MANY OFFICERS ARE REQUIRED FOR AN EVENT AND THE TIME DURATION. JUST TO GIVE US A SENSE OF WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE FOR AN ORGANIZING HOST. AND YOU KNOW, THE IMPLICATIONS. OKAY, THIS WAS YOUR FIRST TWO EVENTS. YES. I'M SORRY FOR MY POOR YOUR ENGLISH COMMUNICATION. NO. YOU'RE FINE SCALE BECAUSE I'M ONLY THE MEMBER BY OUR PRESIDENT AND THE VICE PRESIDENT. GO BACK TO CHINA AND FOR THE EMERGENCY HOME AFFAIR. AND SO I'M. I'M NOT THE ONE THE SUITABLE ONE TO DO THE PRESENTATION. I'M SORRY FOR THE.
NO. NO PROBLEM. THANK YOU. GREAT JOB, GREAT JOB. AND YEAH, YEAH. NORMALLY OUR PRESIDENT WILL BE
[00:55:03]
HERE TO DO THE PRESENTATION. YEAH. SO I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE WITH THIS MESSAGE. YOUR EVENTS WERE THE FIRST ONES THAT YOU'VE DONE IN COMMITTEE AND IN MCKINNEY. THEY WERE INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL. OH THANK YOU. AND NOW WE HAVE WHAT WE CALL GROWING PAINS BECAUSE THEY WERE VERY SUCCESSFUL. WE WILL WORK WITH YOU AS A CITY TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN CONTINUE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. SO WE DO APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE THIS LAST YEAR. I ENJOY GOING WELL. I ONLY WENT TO THE SECOND ONE, THE MOON FESTIVAL YOU WENT TO. YEAH. SO CONGRATULATIONS ON FIRST YEAR SUCCESS. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU. WE WILL NOW GO TO ITEM 20[Consider/Discuss Promotional and Community Event Grant Application Submitted by Odysseus Chamber Orchestra (dba McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra) (PC 25-02) in the Amount of $15,000.00 for the Advertising, Marketing and Promotion of the 2025-2026 Concert Season Including a Minimum of Seven Performances.]

THAT IS VERY GOOD. THANK YOU. I JUST WANT TO COMPLIMENT YOU ON THE GREAT EVENTS THAT YOU'VE DONE IN THE PAST AND THE CULTURE THAT YOU BRING TO OUR COMMUNITY WITH ALL OF THE GREAT EVENTS. ARE THERE ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS REQUEST? ONE ONE REQUEST THE ATTENDANCE FROM LAST YEAR AND THE APPLICATION FORMS. IT SAYS LIKE 3500. AND I'M JUST WONDERING IF THAT BECAUSE THE TICKETED EVENTS THAT YOU DO IF THAT COULD BE POSSIBLY A LITTLE MORE PRECISE, LIKE TICKET SALES OR VERSUS AT THE DIFFERENT EVENTS. WHAT WAS THE TOTAL 3500 LOOKS LIKE? KIND OF AN ESTIMATE.YES OF LAST YEAR. RIGHT. SO IT'S A TOTAL OF ALL THE CONCERTS, INCLUDING OUR YOUTH ORCHESTRA
[01:00:04]
CONCERTS AS WELL. AND THAT'S A FAIRLY PRECISE NUMBER. JUST HAPPENS TO BE THREE AND A HALF.OKAY, FINE. IT JUST LOOKED MORE OF AN ESTIMATE. THAT'S WHY I WAS I WAS WONDERING SO OKAY. VERY GOOD. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? I DO HAVE JUST ONE QUESTION. IF I RECALL FROM LAST YEAR, THERE WAS SOME CONCERN ABOUT VENUE SPACE AND MAYBE THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM NOT ALWAYS BEING AVAILABLE TO YOU. IS EVERYTHING LOCKED AND READY FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON? IT IS STILL AN ISSUE, BUT WE HAVE CREATED A STRATEGY WHERE WE WILL ONLY BOOK THE VERY BEGINNING OF EACH SEMESTER BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE ANY ANY EVENTS. SO WE WILL PROGRAM OUR BIGGEST CONCERTS DURING THAT, THAT THAT TIME AND OTHER CONCERTS WHICH WILL BE SLIGHTLY SMALLER, WILL DO IT AT TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. I SEE. AND SO THAT'S THAT ARRANGEMENT SEEMS TO BE FEASIBLE AND WORKABLE FOR YOU. IT WILL IT WILL WORK VERY WELL. OKAY. VERY GOOD. THANK

YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH. NEXT ITEM 24 2263. CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT. EVENT GRANT APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BY THE MCKINNEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PC 2503. IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 FOR ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 DIA DE LOS MUERTOS CELEBRATION. HELLO EVERYONE! FELIZ NAVIDAD. FIRST OF ALL, WE WANT TO THANK YOU FOR SUCH, FOR SUPPORTING US BECAUSE OUR EVENT AGAIN WAS VERY POPULAR AND IT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL, AND WE'RE SO HAPPY THAT WE CAN PRESENT THIS IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CHAMBER FOUNDATION. OUR PLANNING COMMITTEE HAS IS COMPLETELY MADE UP OF VOLUNTEERS. WE'RE THE EXECUTIVE TEAM DOWN HERE, BUT WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS THAT HEAD EACH COMMITTEE. BUT THEN WE HAVE A BUNCH OF VOLUNTEERS UNDER THAT. SO IT TAKES ABOUT 160 VOLUNTEERS TO PUT THIS EVENT TOGETHER. OUR MISSION IS, YOU KNOW, TO CELEBRATE AND HONOR THE RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THE LATIN AMERICAN AND HISPANIC COMMUNITY IN MCKINNEY AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS BY ORGANIZING AN INCLUSIVE AND VIBRANT FESTIVAL THAT EDUCATE, ENTERTAINS, AND BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER. I WANTED TO POINT OUT THIS LADY, HERE. SHE IS, A DUPLICATE OF OUR. LOGO. THESE THESE PEOPLE CAME TO US, THIS FAMILY AND SAID, WE THINK WE CAN DUPLICATE HER. AND SO SHE'S KIND OF OUR SPOKESPERSON NOW FOR THIS EVENT. AND EVERYBODY LOVED TAKING PICTURES WITH HER. OUR MISSION IS ROOTED IN RESPECT AND APPRECIATION AND PRESERVATION OF THE TRADITION OF DIA DE LOS MUERTOS. WE HAD TONS OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT, A LOT OF SPONSORS, AND THEN OF COURSE, WITH YOUR HELP, WE WERE IN A LOT OF PUBLICATIONS AND WE HOPE TO BE IN MORE NEXT YEAR. I'VE GOT BIG PLANS. HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS FROM THE EVENT WE HAD. WE THIS YEAR. WE KIND OF BROUGHT IT UP A NOTCH AND WE HAD ENTERTAINERS FROM OTHER AREAS THAT BROUGHT THEIR FAN BASE WITH THEM. IT WAS QUITE A LIVELY EVENT AT AT AT 6:00 THAT NIGHT, THEY WERE ALL DANCING IN THE STREETS. IT WAS JUST REALLY LOVELY. AND THEN OF COURSE, WE ALWAYS HAVE OUR LOCAL ENTERTAINERS AS WELL. AGAIN, WE HAD OUR COSTUME CONTEST AND THAT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WAS VERY IN FOOD VENDORS AND THEN CENTRAL TO THE EVENT IS THE FOUNTAIN, WHICH LOOKS LIKE A PLAZA IN MEXICO, AND WE HAVE ALTARS WHICH ARE CALLED OFRENDAS. AND THE COMMUNITY REALLY STEPPED UP THIS YEAR AND BROUGHT A LOT OF THEIR PICTURES TO ADD TO THE ALTAR. AND IT WAS JUST VERY, VERY REVERENT TO HAVE THAT HAPPEN. WE ALSO HAVE THE MARIGOLDS HANGING FROM THE TREES. AND IF YOU CAN SEE THERE THAT LITTLE GIRL, SHE'S PAINTING ONE. AND THEN ON THE BACK OF IT, PEOPLE WRITE MESSAGES TO THEIR LOVED ONE THAT HAS PASSED, AND WE HANG IT FROM THE TREES. NEW FOR THIS YEAR. THOSE ARE CALLED MONARCH MESSAGES, BY THE WAY. WE'RE WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH ANDREW AND WE WANT THE WEEK OF THE EVENT TO PUT THOSE MARIGOLDS IN THE TREES DOWNTOWN SO THAT THE PUBLIC CAN SEE WHAT, WHAT THE MESSAGES ARE TO THEIR LOVED ONES. AND THEN WE WILL HAVE, BECAUSE IT IS A LARGE EVENT, WE'VE TRIED TO ADDRESS THAT. WE'RE GOING TO MOVE SOME OF IT OUT A LITTLE BIT AND WE'LL HAVE[01:05:01]
EXCUSE ME, WE'LL HAVE SOME ON NOT BUSY STREET AND WE'RE WORKING WITH THE CITY ON THAT AND ON THE GROUNDS OF IMPACT, AND WE WILL HAVE STROLL AND MARIACHIS TO TAKE PEOPLE FROM ONE AREA TO THE OTHER SO THAT THEY DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY'RE, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE JUST GOING OFF INTO LA LA LAND. AND ALSO WE'LL HAVE OUR CATRINA GOING AS WELL. AND THEN ANOTHER NEW THING THAT WE'RE DOING THIS YEAR IS WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A SCHOLARSHIP, AND WE WANT TO USE ADL BECAUSE THEY ARE SO IN LINE WITH EVERYTHING THAT WE'RE DOING. SO WE'VE ALREADY MET WITH THEM AND THEY'RE SO EXCITED ABOUT IT. AND WE WILL WORK WITH THEM ON, ON GETTING SPONSORS FOR THIS. WE'RE ASKING FOR $15,000 BECAUSE LIKE I SAID, I HAVE BIG PLANS FOR THIS EVENT. WE HAVE GOTTEN A LOT OF GOOD COVERAGE, BUT OUR GOAL IS TO ATTRACT PEOPLE FROM IN AND OUT OF THE STATE OF MCKINNEY TO EDUCATE ON THE DAY OF THE DEAD. JUDGING FROM OUR OUR REPORTS THAT WE GOT, WE DID WHAT DID WE WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE PROGRAM THAT WE DID THAT EVENTBRITE. EVENTBRITE, BECAUSE WE WANTED TO SEE WHERE PEOPLE WERE COMING FROM. SO WE ASKED THEM TO REGISTER. AND OF COURSE, NOT EVERYBODY DID, BUT ABOUT 5000 DID. AND NO, 3000 DID. AND A LOT OF THEM WERE NOT ONLY COMING FROM MCKINNEY AND TEXAS, BUT THEY WERE ALSO COMING FROM OTHER STATES. I'M THROUGH. ALL RIGHT.YOU'RE THROUGH. THANK YOU. ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS? COMMENTS, COMMENTS? CONGRATULATIONS ON ONE OF THE COOLEST LOGOS. THANK YOU. PEOPLE DO LOVE THAT LOGO. WE SOLD T SHIRTS THIS YEAR AND THEY THE T SHIRT LADY WAS VERY HAPPY. SO I HAVE GONE EVERY YEAR THAT YOU GUYS HAVE HAD THE FESTIVAL, AND EVERY YEAR YOU GUYS REALLY ELEVATE YOUR EXPERIENCE. AND LAST YEAR I REMEMBER WALKING INTO THE PARK AND JUST BEING IN AWE OF THE COLOR AND THE EXCITEMENT, AND YOU GUYS PUT ON A REALLY GREAT EVENT. SO KUDOS TO YOU GUYS. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? WELL JUST A COMMENT AGAIN. YOU KNOW, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GROWING AND CONTINUED SUCCESS. I THINK IT'S PROBABLY RESONATING WITH ALL OF US. THE SAME CONCERN ABOUT JUST HOW LARGE THE EVENT IS. I MEAN, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PROBABLY MORE THAN DOUBLE THE SIZE OF THE ASIAN FESTIVAL, WHICH WE JUST SHARED CONCERNS ABOUT SPACE AND THE ALLOCATION OF PEOPLE IN THAT SMALL AREA. SO I THINK IT'S JUST TIME FOR MAYBE A BROADER DISCUSSION ABOUT THE EVENTS THAT WE'RE GOING TO FUND IN THESE SMALL SPACES, BECAUSE WE REALLY WANT THESE TO BE PREMIER SIGNATURE EVENTS THAT REPRESENT MCKINNEY. WE DON'T WANT PEOPLE COMING AND THINKING, OH, THE QUARTERS ARE TIGHT OR IT'S NOT WELL ORGANIZED, NOT FOR ANYTHING WITHIN YOUR CONTROL, BUT JUST BECAUSE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES. SO I JUST WANTED TO MAKE THAT COMMENT BECAUSE WE MADE IT EARLIER, AND I THINK IT'S STILL APPLICABLE, OF COURSE. AND THAT'S WHY I MEAN, WE RECOGNIZE THAT AND WE DON'T WANT TO MOVE IT FROM MITCHELL PARK. SO WE'RE TRYING TO SPREAD SPREAD THE LOVE SO THAT IT WON'T JUST BE IN MITCHELL PARK. OKAY. THANK YOU. NAVIDAD, THANK YOU SO MUCH. ALL RIGHT. NEXT ITEM 20 4-2264. CONSIDER DISCUSS. PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY SAINT PETER'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, PC 2504. IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,000 FOR THE ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 EMPTY BOWLS EVENT. GOOD MORNING TO THE BOARD. MY NAME IS MOLLY JONES, AND I'M CO-CHAIR OF EMPTY BOWLS.THIS YEAR. OUR EVENT WILL BE ON APRIL 24TH IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY ON KENTUCKY STREET AS USUAL. OUR GOAL FOR THE EVENT IS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF FOOD INSECURITY AND RAISE MONEY FOR OUR BENEFICIARIES THAT ADDRESS THIS CAUSE THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY, THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. THOSE BENEFICIARIES WILL BE COMMUNITY GARDEN KITCHEN, COMMUNITY LIFELINE AND LITTLE FREE PANTRY.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE UNAWARE. FOOD INSECURITY IS THE LACK OF KNOWING WHERE YOUR NEXT MEAL IS COMING FROM, AND IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR, WITH ALL THE FOOD COMING IN FROM EVERYWHERE THAT PEOPLE COULD BE IN THIS SITUATION. BUT OUR LATEST STATISTIC IS THAT IN MCKINNEY ISD, 1 IN 4 STUDENTS ARE FOOD INSECURE, WHICH IS TERRIFYING.
THIS IS THE EVENT WITH A GENERAL ADMISSION EVENT. WE KEEP THE PRICE AT $35 FOR THE TICKET. AS MANY OF YOU ARE AWARE, I THINK MOST OF YOU HAVE ATTENDED THE EVENT, BUT THEY COME INTO IMPACT. WE HAVE OVER 1200 ARTISAN BOWLS AVAILABLE. YOU PICK YOUR BOWL AND THEN YOU HEAD OUT TO KENTUCKY STREET, AND WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY TEN FOOD PURVEYORS THERE WHERE YOU CAN SAMPLE ALL THE FOOD AND MACARONI AND CHEESE AND BEEF STEW AND EVERYTHING THAT THEY COME UP WITH. WE HAVE A RAFFLE, LIVE SILENT AUCTION. WE HAVE ARTISAN BOWLS FOR SALE. WE HAVE BEER AND
[01:10:01]
WINE FOR PURCHASE, AND WE HAVE MUSIC, A DJ. WE HAVE LIVE PEOPLE SPINNING BOWLS, AND WE HAD AN ARTIST PAINTING LAST YEAR, SO IT'S GOT A VERY FESTIVAL LIKE ATMOSPHERE. AND YOU ALSO HAVE A CHANCE TO MEET WITH OUR BENEFICIARIES. OUR GRANT REQUESTS THIS YEAR IS FOR $12,000. AND 2024, WE CAME IN SLIGHTLY UNDER THE BUDGETED $15,000. AND WE DO THIS BY WE'RE FORTUNATE WE'RE WE'RE ABLE TO STORE A LOT OF OUR SIGNS AND REUSE AND ADAPT OUR SIGNAGE. ONE OF OUR BIG DRAWS LAST YEAR WAS WE INCREASED OUR PRINT MEDIA. WE REALIZED THAT OUR GUESTS TO THE EVENT ARE OF AN AGE THAT WE STILL LIKE. PRINT FIRST AND SOCIAL MEDIA SECOND, AND WE INCREASED THE PRINT MEDIA DRAMATICALLY, AND WE SAW A HUGE INCREASE IN THE INFLUX OF PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE OF THE COMMUNITY. THIS JUST BREAKS DOWN WHERE WE'RE SPENDING IT. IN THE DIFFERENT MEDIUMS. AND THIS IS A DETAILED OF OUR TOTAL BUDGET. OUR NET INCOME IS $85,000. AND WE THAT'S WHAT WE DONATE BACK TO OUR BENEFICIARIES, WHICH IS OVER 65% OF WHAT WE TAKE IN. WE HAVE AN ALL VOLUNTEER STAFF, AND WE'RE PRETTY TIGHT WITH THOSE EXPENSES. SO WE AND WE DO RETAIN 5% FOR THE STARTUP OF THE NEXT YEAR. OUR MEDIA PLAN INCLUDES SOCIAL MEDIA, FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM, DIGITAL AND PRINT MEDIA, OUR YARD SIGNS AND BILLBOARDS YOU'LL SEE ON THE RIGHT. WE HAVE INCLUDED THE SOME OF THE NEW PRINT MEDIA THAT WE WENT THROUGH FOR THIS YEAR. THIS IS SOME SAMPLES OF OUR ADVERTISING. THESE ARE OUR BENEFICIARIES AND THE AMOUNTS THAT WE'VE CONTRIBUTED TO EACH OF THEM. AND THIS IS THE BIG NUMBER THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IN 2024. WE HAD OVER 1000 ATTENDEES AND WE WERE ABLE TO TRACK THAT. WE WERE UP TO 35% COMING FROM OUTSIDE MCKINNEY. AND THAT WE ATTRIBUTE TO THE INCREASE IN THE PRINT MEDIA. SO WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT WHAT WE WERE ABLE TO DO THERE. WE HAD NINE LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND FOOD PURVEYORS DONATED THEIR TIME. BLOUNT FOOD CONSIDERED CONTINUES TO BE OUR OUR LEAD TITLE SPONSOR, AND THEY'RE A HUGE PART OF THE EVENT. WE HAVE 100. I SWEAR IT'S HUNDREDS OF ARTISTS.WE HAVE EVERYBODY THAT, YOU KNOW, PAINTS A BOWL, AND IT'S FROM THE PROS TO THE AMATEURS, AND THEY EVEN TAKE BOWLS THAT I'VE PAINTED, SO IT'S PRETTY AMAZING. WE HAVE GREAT STUDIO PARTNERS WITH SPARK JUMP INTO ART GLAZE AND MAKE EXPRESSIONS. AND SO PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR APRIL 24TH OF 2025. I CAN'T BELIEVE I GOT THROUGH THIS IN LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES, AND I THANK YOU FOR YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? YOU DID GREAT. THANK YOU. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? I HAVE ONE, BUT DAVID DID YOU HAVE. NO. GO AHEAD. OKAY. MOLLY, IS EVENT ATTENDANCE CAPPED AGAIN? GIVEN THE SPACE, WE'RE GETTING REAL CLOSE TO IT AND WE ARE EXPLORING ALTERNATIVES. FOR 2026. SO WE'VE ALREADY YOU KNOW IT'S SO HARD TO LEAVE THE SQUARE. CONSIDER LEAVING THE SQUARE BECAUSE IT'S GOT BUT WE REALLY KIND OF ARE THERE. WE NEED MORE SPACE FOR MORE FOOD PEOPLE. WE'VE HAD SOME LIMITATIONS. PUT ON US ABOUT THE NUMBER OF FOOD PEOPLE WE CAN HAVE ON THE SQUARE AND THE SETUP, WHICH SO OUR FOOD PEOPLE ARE BECAUSE THEY DONATE ALL THAT FOOD AND THEY WERE VERY TAXED LAST YEAR. AND I MEAN, THAT WAS DOWN TO LIKE, YOU KNOW, ONE BAG OF SOUP BY THE END OF IT, I MEAN, IT WAS JUST REALLY TIGHT.
SO YES, WE HAVE DEFINITELY STARTED THE PRELIMINARY STEPS OF EXPLORING OPTIONS, AND IT'S VERY MUCH LIKE A TRADITION FOR PEOPLE TO ATTEND. WE'VE CERTAINLY IT'S ONE OF OUR FAVORITE EVENTS GIVEN EVERYBODY. YEAH. BUT DO YOU HAVE A SENSE FOR HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE LIKE RETURN PARTICIPANTS. SO LIKE OF THE THOUSAND PEOPLE THAT COME, IS IT LIKE, YOU KNOW, 60% CAME LAST YEAR? IT'S REALLY HARD TO TELL BECAUSE. BUT I CAN BE ALMOST ANYWHERE AND SAY, YOU KNOW, CO-CHAIR EMPTY BOWLS. AND IT'S LIKE, OH, I LOVE THAT EVENT. BUT, YOU KNOW, AND I DIDN'T GO LAST YEAR, BUT I WENT THERE BEFORE, SO IT'S REALLY HARD. I DON'T KNOW IF PEOPLE ATTEND EVERY YEAR. I MEAN, WE DEFINITELY HAVE A SOLID CREW THAT COME EVERY YEAR. I MEAN, THAT'S FOR SURE. SO THANK YOU.
NO ADDITIONAL COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU SO MUCH. NEXT WE HAVE

PROGRAMING AND EXHIBITS. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM VICE CHAIR DEANNA STONE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR CHESTNUT SQUARE. IT'S SO EXCITING TO SIT IN THIS ROOM AND SEE THE GROWTH JUST ACROSS MCKINNEY AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE IMPACT. I SHARE THE GROWTH. IT'S BEEN A RECORD BREAKING YEAR FOR CHESTNUT SQUARE AS A WHOLE. ON IMPACT FOR COMMUNITY. NOT ONLY ARE WE GROWING IN STAFF, AND THOSE THAT SERVE IMPACT OUR VOLUNTEERS, WHETHER IT BE YOUR TIME, TREASURE OR TALENT. WE ARE GROWING ACROSS THE BOARD, SO IT'S VERY, VERY EXCITING. WE ARE PRESERVING HISTORY, CELEBRATING COMMUNITY, AND INSPIRING THE FUTURE. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DON'T KNOW, IN 1973, CHESTNUT SQUARE WAS STARTED AND FOUNDED BY A GROUP OF WOMEN THAT WANTED TO FIND VALUE IN PRESERVING HISTORY. AND THEY BEGAN THAT. SO THAT WAS THE QUEST AND THE BEGINNING OF OUR PRESERVATION OF MCKINNEY THAT WE HONOR TODAY. OUR FARMER'S MARKET CONTINUES TO BE THE NUMBER ONE IN TEXAS, NUMBER ONE IN SOUTHWEST, AND NUMBER TWO IN THE NATION, WHICH IS SO INCREDIBLY EXCITING. OUR REACH HAS GROWN BY 30%. OUR FOLLOWERS THROUGH OUR SOCIAL MEDIA HAS CONTINUED TO GROW, BUT WE STILL VALUE PRINT FOR THOSE THAT ENJOY PRINT AS A WAY TO FIND OUT INFORMATION. OUR FARM TO TABLE WAS AGAIN A RECORD BREAKING. WE SOLD OUT IN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF PUBLICATION OF THAT, HONORING OUR FARMER'S MARKET AND ULTIMATELY, THE GOAL OF HAVING A RESTROOM ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE PROPERTY. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL EVENT AND SUPPORTED BY MANY IN MCKINNEY. WE DID A COUPLE OF THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR. WE OFFERED OUR PUMPKIN PALS, WHICH IS A SENSORY SENSITIVE, ALLERGY FRIENDLY. EVENT FOR OUR CHILDREN AND OUR YOUTH IN MCKINNEY. THAT WAS ATTENDED. IT WAS OUR FIRST PILOT, BUT IT WAS WILDLY SUCCESSFUL AND POPULATED. WE RAN A DOCENT TRAINING FOR THOSE THAT WANTED TO SEE. HOW DO YOU CONNECT TO THE VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY? AND WE WERE JOINED BY ALAN WILEY AND SALINA TO SEE WHAT WE'RE DOING IN MCKINNEY AND SEEING HOW WE'RE IMPACTING PRESERVATION. AND SO THAT WAS A JOY TO SEE SURROUNDING AREAS COME TOGETHER AND MAKE THAT AN IMPACTFUL PART OF OUR COMMUNITY.SOLD OUT OUR HAUNTED TROLLEY TOURS, OUR GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS, AND WE HAD A BACK TO SCHOOL TEA.
AND WE EDUCATED THE COMMUNITY ON HOW TO USE OUR FARMER'S MARKET TO FOOD PRESERVATION. OUR HOLIDAY TOUR OF HOMES WRAPPED UP THIS MONTH. IT WAS INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL, RECORD BREAKING EVEN AFTER OUR 50TH CELEBRATION LAST YEAR HONORING TWO WEEKENDS. WE OUTSOLD AND OUT IMPACTED WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR, WHAT WAS AN INCREDIBLE EVENT. SO WE HAD OVER 1740 TICKETS, SOLD, 101,740 TICKETS SOLD. BUT THEN WE HAD 300 VOLUNTEERS SERVING FOR THAT WEEKEND. EVEN WITH THE RAIN. WE CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE COMMUNITY, SELLING AN ADDITIONAL 25% OF TICKETS ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. OUR HOLIDAY CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE WITH OUR FARMERS MARKET, LUNCH WITH SANTA AND THEN OUR PRAIRIE ADVENTURE CAMP. WE TEAMED UP WITH MCKINNEY REPERTORY THEATER AS WELL AS ARTS AND CHEFS, AND CREATED SOME WONDERFUL WAYS TO SHARE THE STORY OF MCKINNEY THROUGH PAST MURDER ON CHESTNUT TWISTED POWER. OUR GOALS FOR THIS NEXT YEAR ARE TO CONTINUE ON THE GOALS AND THE ESTABLISHMENTS THAT WE HAD FROM LAST YEAR, ONCE AGAIN HIGHLIGHTING OUR FARMER'S MARKET. CREATING GREAT OPPORTUNITY. OUR PRAIRIE ADVENTURE CAMP. WE'RE ALSO KIND OF CAPITALIZING ON THE BRIDAL EXHIBIT IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY, ENHANCING THEIR EVENT BY HAVING A BRIDAL EXHIBIT. SO DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY, YOU CAN COME AND SEE BRIDAL DRESSES FROM OVER THE DECADES AND HONORING AND HOSTING OUR ARTIFACTS IN THAT AREA AND CONTINUING OUR GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO UTILIZE OUR LOCAL RADIO, OUR LOCAL PRINT, AS WELL AS OUR SOCIAL MEDIA THAT HAS BEEN WILDLY SUCCESSFUL, GROWING OUR FOLLOWERS IN A 43% INCREASE AND A 59% INCREASE REACH. THIS IS A BREAKDOWN OF HOW WE'RE GOING TO USE THOSE FUNDS FOR ALL OF THE EVENTS FROM EDUCATION, GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS, OUR CONTINUED MUSEUM AND EDUCATION. ONCE AGAIN UTILIZING ALL DIFFERENT AREAS OF IMPACT ON OUR MARKETING. THESE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST. WAYS THAT WE'VE USED OUR OUTREACH TO IMPACT AND CONTINUE THE STORY.
CHESTNUT SQUARE IS RESPONSIBLE NOT ONLY FOR CHESTNUT SQUARE'S HISTORY, BUT ALSO MCKINNEY AND COLLIN COUNTY IN GENERAL. AND SO WE WANT TO KEEP THE INTEGRITY OF THOSE STORIES INTACT. AND WITH THAT, I WILL STAND WITH ANY QUESTIONS, ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS. I HAVE A QUESTION. SO I KNOW THAT I'VE GONE TO MANY OF YOUR EVENTS OVER THE YEARS. AND I KNOW ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THAT WAS A CHALLENGE IN THE PAST WAS BRINGING IN A MORE YOUTHFUL AUDIENCE. WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING TO TRY AND BRING THAT YOUNGER AUDIENCE IN TO HELP SPREAD YOUR YOUR REACH A LITTLE BIT? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THAT QUESTION. SO I DID A LITTLE TRIAL AND ERROR TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. AND SO WE DID ADVERTISE SOME YOUTH EVENTS. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT OUR SOCIAL MEDIA DID NOT PULL ANY IMPACT AT ALL. WE HAD VERY FEW SHARES, VERY FEW LIKES, WHICH TELLS ME OUR CURRENT MARKET IS NOT CAPITALIZING ON THAT. SO THIS YEAR WE'RE GOING TO LAUNCH
[01:20:01]
THE SCHOOLHOUSE OF CHESTNUT SQUARE. SO WE HAVE THE CHAPEL AT CHESTNUT SQUARE, THE FARMERS MARKET AT CHESTNUT SQUARE. WE'RE GOING TO LAUNCH THE SCHOOLHOUSE. AND SO SOME OF OUR MARKETING EFFORTS ARE GOING INTO OUR HOMESCHOOL COMMUNITY AS WELL AS OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. THEY SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE IN MCKINNEY. WE PRESERVE AND CAN TRULY EXPERIENCE FROM THE EARLY 1900S, I MEAN EARLY 1800S ALL THE WAY THROUGH. AND SO, I MEAN, WE ARE OUR OWN TAYLOR SHERIDAN STORY HERE IN MCKINNEY. AND SO WE'RE TRYING TO CAPITALIZE ON THAT AND GET THE MESSAGE OUT.AND WE'RE GOING TO LAUNCH A WHOLE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN AROUND THE SCHOOLHOUSE OF CHESTNUT SQUARE. THE COMMENT THANK YOU. THANK YOU. NEXT WE HAVE ITEM 24 DASH 2266. CONSIDER

DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL AND COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BY RANEY GRACE INCORPORATED, DOING BUSINESS AS TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC PC 2506, IN THE AMOUNT OF 10,500 FOR THE ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 TEXAS MUSIC FESTIVAL AND HIPPIE FEST, BOTH IN MCKINNEY. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM PRESIDENT, GOOD MORNING. BOARD, IT'S AN HONOR TO BE HERE WITH YOU THIS MORNING. MY NAME IS AL PERRY MCKINNEY, RESIDENT, LIVE AT SIX SIX, SEVEN FIVE MEDITERRANEAN. RAISE MY FAMILY HERE. I'M A VOLUNTEER WITH TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC. I'M ACTUALLY STANDING IN HERE THIS MORNING FOR MARLEY.MARLEY WAS MARLEY. THOMAS WAS SUPPOSED TO COME PRESENT, BUT IT APPEARS SHE HAS OUTLIVED HER EYEBALLS AND HAD CATARACT SURGERY AND IS BACK AT THE DOCTOR THIS MORNING SO SIMPLY COULDN'T SEE WELL ENOUGH TO ATTEND. SO YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ME. IT'S A TOUGH JOB WHEN YOU'VE GOT TO FILL IN FOR SOMEONE LIKE MARLEY, RIGHT? SO ESTABLISHED IN 2018, TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC'S MISSION IS WHAT WE TRY TO DO IS SHINE A SPOTLIGHT ON EMERGING ARTISTS.
MUSICAL ARTISTS HERE IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS. AND WE'VE BEEN SO INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL AT DOING THAT. THIS, YOU KNOW, MCKINNEY IS WE'RE WATCHING MCKINNEY EMERGE AS REALLY SORT OF A HUB OF THE IN NORTH TEXAS OF CULTURAL ARTS. AND IT'S SO INCREDIBLY EXCITING TO SEE. I'M SO HONORED THAT THIS BOARD AND PREVIOUS MCDC BOARDS HAVE BEEN SUCH RELENTLESS SUPPORTERS OF THE ARTS. THIS MAKES THIS NOT ONLY ADDS INCREDIBLE VALUE TO THOSE OF US WHO LIVE HERE, PROMOTES TOURISM, PROMOTES REPEAT VISITS TO MCKINNEY, AND I THINK IT ALSO PROMOTES LONG TERM INVESTMENTS. SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU. IT'S VERY EXCITING TO SEE SUCH AN INCREDIBLE AND DIVERSE NUMBER OF EVENTS HERE AND EXCITING TO BE A PART OF IT. SO TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC IS ACTUALLY SPEARHEADED AND ANCHORED BY A RADIO SHOW THAT IS ON, STARTED OUT ON OUR LOCAL STATION CLERK HAS NOW MOVED TO. KYI 95.3 THE RANGE. IT'S ALSO A PODCAST AND AGAIN HIGHLIGHTS A LOT OF OUR LOCAL ARTISTS. A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THE INCREDIBLE TALENT WE HAVE RIGHT HERE IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS FROM ANGEL WHITE, KATRINA KANE, SO MANY OF YOU HAVE PROBABLY HEARD OF ANDY TIMMONS, WHO'S WIDELY KNOWN AS ONE OF THE FINEST GUITAR PLAYERS ON THE PLANET.
AND ALL OF THIS IS RIGHT HERE IN MCKINNEY. AND SO WE HAVE A LOT OF FUN PUTTING THESE EVENTS ON SPECIFICALLY HERE. WE'RE ASKING FOR SOME PROMOTIONAL GRANTS TO HELP PROMOTE TWO OF THE EVENTS THAT WE DO. THIS PAST YEAR, WE DID OUR FIRST ANNUAL HIPPIE FEST. SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT FOR MARLEY RIGHT? AN INCREDIBLE EVENT WE HELD AT TUFTS. AND THAT WAS THAT WAS INTENTIONAL AS WELL, TO TRY TO HELP PROMOTE WHAT I THINK IS ONE OF OUR PREMIER VENUES HERE AND HELPS ANCHOR OUR NEW DEVELOPMENT THAT'S GOING ON ON THE EAST SIDE OF HIGHWAY FIVE, YOU KNOW, HIPPIE FEST. THERE WERE A NUMBER OF BANDS. WE HAD A REALLY COOL BOHEMIAN MARKET. ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS IS WE DID THIS GREAT BIG TAPESTRY OUT ON THE YARD, AND KIDS AND ADULTS ALIKE CAME OUT AND CREATED THIS LARGE COMMUNITY ART PROJECT. IT WAS FANTASTIC, FAMILY FRIENDLY.
WE'RE EXPECTING OVER 500 PEOPLE THIS TIME AND SO LOOKING FOR SUPPORT FOR THAT INCREDIBLE EVENT. THAT'LL BE IN APRIL. AND THE OTHER ONE IS IN JUNE. I'M SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THIS IF SOMEBODY CAN. THERE WE GO. AND THAT IS THE TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC STAGE AT TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION. THIS YEAR IS THE 29TH YEAR OF THAT FESTIVAL. WE EXPECT TO SEE ABOUT 6000 VISITORS TO OUR DOWNTOWN AREA, AND THE TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC STAGE IS A VERY, VERY SPECIAL STAGE. WE ARE THE SECOND LARGEST STAGE AT THE FESTIVAL, SECOND ONLY TO THE MAIN STAGE. IT'S WHERE STUFF IS HAPPENING, MAN. WE'RE THE FIRST TO KICK OFF MUSIC EVERY DAY AND WE'RE THE LAST TO SHUT DOWN EVERY NIGHT, SO IT IS THE PLACE TO BE. WE HAVE A FANTASTIC VIP AREA. ALL
[01:25:02]
OF OUR EVENTS ARE DRIVEN BY DONORS, BY SPONSORS. YOU KNOW, WE ALL GET ON THE PHONE AND CALL OUR FRIENDS IN BUSINESS AND ASK THEM TO SUPPORT THESE WONDERFUL EVENTS. AND SO WE'RE ASKING MCDC TO HELP US WITH THIS. AGAIN, YOU KNOW, AT THE TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC STAGE, EVEN THOUGH IT'S INSIDE THE TMR FESTIVAL, THOSE WHO ARE ENJOYING FOOD AT THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS, PARTICULARLY CADILLACS, BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE WE ARE AT, ARE ABLE TO COME IN AND SEE THE MUSIC FREE OF CHARGE AT TIMES. AND SO THAT'S ANOTHER GREAT, GREAT DRAW THAT IS AN ADVANTAGE TO HER STAGE OVER LIKE SOME OF THE MAIN STAGES AND WHATNOT. FEMALE FRIDAY IS ALWAYS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. IT'S ON THAT FRIDAY NIGHTS WE PREMIERE ALL ALL FEMALE ARTISTS AND THAT'S FANTASTIC. SATURDAY IS FOR UP AND COMING ARTISTS THAT WE BELIEVE ARE GOING TO MAKE A SPLASH IN THE LOCAL MUSIC SCENE AND THE TEXAS MUSIC SCENE, AND WE'VE SEEN OVER THE YEARS OF TMR, A NUMBER OF OUR ARTISTS ON HER STAGE ON THE TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC STAGE GET PROMOTED THE NEXT YEAR TO PLAY ON THE ON THE MAIN STAGE AND SO REALLY HELPING ENHANCE THEIR CAREERS AND SHOWCASE OUR LOCAL MUSIC. AND AGAIN, WE REALLY APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY AND I'LL STAND FOR ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.ANY QUESTIONS? COMMENTS I HAVE A QUESTION AL. SO IN PRIOR YEARS WITH TMR, I DON'T I DON'T BELIEVE WE FUNDED THIS IN THE IN THE PAST. HOW WAS THE MARKETING SUPPORTED? WELL REALLY THROUGH TRADITIONAL EFFORTS. A LOT OF IT IS ON THE RADIO STATION BECAUSE THE ENGAGEMENT OF KYYI AND THEIR FUNCTION IS THROUGH A LOT OF ADVERTISING. THEIR OBSERVER COMMUNITY IMPACT, LOTS OF FACEBOOK BOOSTS AND THOSE SORTS OF THINGS, BANNERS, POSTERS THAT WE PLACE ALL THROUGH TOWN. BUT DID THE RADIO STATION PAY FOR THAT OR WHERE DID THE FUNDING COME FROM PREVIOUSLY? FROM DONORS, FROM DONORS FROM. SO FOR THE TEXAS HOM TEGROWN MUSIC STA, IT'S ALL PRIVATELY FUNDED.
AGAIN, WE REACH OUT TO SOME OF OUR FRIENDS IN BUSINESS AND WE ARE, YOU KNOW, HONORED TO HAVE SUPPORTERS LIKE CRAIG INTERNATIONAL AND THE RICK WELLS AND HIS GROUP AND A NUMBER OF PROMINENT BUSINESS PEOPLE HERE IN MCKINNEY HELPS MAKE THIS HAPPEN AT TEXAS HOMEGROWN MUSIC STAGE. AND YOU KNOW, ONE THING I WANT TO ADD AS WELL, YOU KNOW, ADVERTISING MONEY GOES PARTICULARLY FAR WITH OUR GROUP BECAUSE WE HAVE SUCH A STRONG GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS. WE HAVE NO COST TO PRODUCE OUR CREATIVES. WE DO OUR OWN ARTWORK, WE DO OUR OWN AD COPY, AND SO EVERY DIME THAT WE RECEIVE WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE ADVERTISING MEDIA. IT HELPS OUR ADVERTISING DOLLAR GO A LITTLE FURTHER. THANK YOU. ANY OTHER COMMENTS QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. I ALMOST DIDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU. I WAS LIKE, WE'RE ALL AT AND WELL, YOU KNOW, I FIT IN HIPPIE FEST. IT'S GETTING KIND OF LONG AND I'M ENJOYING IT. SO THANK YOU GUYS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE HERE. THANK

YOU AL. NEXT ITEM 24 DASH 20 267. CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY THE COLLIN COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM PC 2507. IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,500 FOR ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 EVENTS AT THE MUSEUM. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. MADAM PRESIDENT, I AM SHARON BOOTH AND I AM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT COLLIN COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM. AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO YOU TODAY. I JUST WANTED TO REITERATE, OUR MISSION IS TO PRESERVE AND HONOR THE PAST, CONNECT WITH THE PRESENT, AND EMBRACE THE FUTURE. THE GOAL THAT CORRELATES TO OUR PROMOTIONAL GRANT REQUEST IS TO PROMOTE RESOURCES AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT HIGHLIGHT THE HISTORY OF COLLIN COUNTY AND TEXAS, AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR NATION. I HAVE A VERY STRONG BOARD THAT MOST OF THEM HAVE HAVE GROWN UP IN MCKINNEY. LOVE MCKINNEY. AND YOU SEE ON OTHER COMMITTEES THAT SUPPORT WHAT'S GOING ON IN MCKINNEY. AND I PUT THIS PICTURE HERE TO JUST SAY, IF WE BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME FROM THE MOVIE FIELD OF DREAMS. WE HAVE THE FACILITY, THE EXHIBITS, THE RELATIONSHIPS, THE EXPERTISE TO CREATE, CREATE AN EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE HISTORIC DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY DISTRICT TO BRING BOTH LOCAL AND IN OUT OF TOWN VISITORS. AND SO I APPROACHED THIS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. THE PROMOTIONAL GRANT REQUEST IS FOR ADVERTISEMENT. AND THEN I WILL TELL YOU ABOUT THE PROMOTIONS.ONE THING THAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME, AND I'VE ONLY BEEN HERE SINCE AUGUST 28TH, THE COLLIN COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM IN THE PAST HAS RELIED ON THEIR EXHIBIT. WELL, IF YOU'VE BEEN THERE, THE BUILDING IS AMAZING. IT IS TRULY A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH, AND SO WE NEED TO
[01:30:03]
SPOTLIGHT OUR BUILDING A LITTLE BIT MORE. AND THROUGH THAT WE'LL DO IT WITH EVENTS. SO CURRENTLY WE USE FROM YOUR GRANT LAST YEAR WE USE CELEBRATION MAGAZINE AND WITH CELEBRATION MAGAZINE, 32% OF OUR VISITORS SAY THEY SAW OUR AD OR OUR STORY BECAUSE WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE AN ARTICLE IN EACH CELEBRATION. ARTICLE, A MAGAZINE TO SPOTLIGHT THE MUSEUM. SO CELEBRATION MAGAZINE HAS 12,000 HOMES THAT IT GOES TO, AND THEN IT GOES TO BUSINESSES. THIS YEAR, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT YOU HELP US WITH ADVERTISING TO BROADEN OUR BASE IN COMMUNITY IMPACT MAGAZINE, WHICH IS 83,000 HOMES, AND THEN THE COMMUNITY IMPACT STORYTELLER IS AN OPPORTUNITY THAT THEY WILL HELP US WRITE OUR STORY, RECORD IT IN VIDEO FORM. THAT WOULD GO ON OUR FACEBOOK.AND ANYTIME AN INDIVIDUAL GOOGLES A WORD THAT'S IN THAT STORY, COLLIN COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM WILL COME UP AND THEN PROMOTIONAL BROCHURES. AND AGAIN, WE'D LIKE TO RENEW THAT BILLBOARD THAT'S ON HIGHWAY FIVE, FACING WEST THREE, 80 AND FIVE. SO THAT SPOTLIGHTS TO PROMOTE ARE NOT AT THE MUSEUM. AND THAT'S GOING TO GET OUR JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS ARE GOING TO BE THE WAX FIGURE REPRESENTING THE EXHIBIT INSIDE THE MUSEUM. SO WE FEEL LIKE THAT THAT WILL GET STUDENTS IN, PARENTS IN AND SCHOOLS IN. AND THEN THE WWE. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE A HAYSTACK CALHOUN EXHIBIT. THERE'S SO MANY PEOPLE IN OUR SPOTLIGHTED IN OUR MUSEUM THAT I'M SURE PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THAT ARE FROM MCKINNEY, BUT THE WRESTLING TEAMS FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL WOULD BE INVITED AND THAT WOULD SPOTLIGHT. I WILL TELL YOU AT THE TIME OF THIS, WE WROTE DOWN THE WEDDING LIST BECAUSE WE TO HAVE A WEDDING DRESSES AND PICTURES AND STORIES THAT GO ALONG. SINCE THEN, LITERALLY LAST MONDAY, THE DAUGHTERS OF THE REPUBLIC HAVE BEEN AWARDED A TRAVELING DAUGHTERS OF REVOLUTION DISPLAY THAT WE'RE GOING TO SUBSTITUTE IN THAT JUNE. AND THEN THE CARROLL SHELBY. AS YOU KNOW, WE TRIED TO DO THAT LAST YEAR AND THE WEATHER DID NOT COOPERATE. THAT'S WHEN THAT LITTLE, LITTLE TORNADO STORM CAME THROUGH. AND THEN WE WANT TO RECOGNIZE OUR VETERANS BECAUSE WE HAVE A STRONG CONNECTION WITH THE VFW.
IN ADDITION, WE MET WITH THE CHEROKEE NATION YESTERDAY, AND THEY'RE GOING TO. DONATE AN EXHIBIT THAT WE WILL LAUNCH IN MAY THAT WILL SPOTLIGHT THE HERITAGE HERE IN MCKINNEY FROM THE CHEROKEE NATION. SO WE HAVE EVENTS. THEY DO COME. WE AGAIN FEEL LIKE WE CAN DO IT. OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO BROADEN OUR COMMUNICATION PLATFORM AND TO ATTRACT AND MOTIVATE MORE IN ATTENDANCE. BECAUSE MOST NOW IS ONE AND DONE AND THEY'RE GONE. WE'VE CELEBRATED. WE DID HALLOWEEN AT THE MUSEUM HAUNTED MUSEUM. WE HAD A GREAT TURNOUT THERE. WE HAD SANTA PICTURES. WE HAD A GREAT TURNOUT THERE. SO AGAIN, OUR MISSION IS PRESERVE AND HONOR THE PAST, CONNECT WITH THE PRESENT, EMBRACE THE FUTURE, AND TOGETHER WE CAN. I MADE IT TO. SO ANY QUESTIONS, ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS. WELL I APPLAUD THE IDEA OF MORE EVENTS AND USING THE SPACE AND BRINGING PEOPLE IN AND IT INCREASES AWARENESS. SO IT'S A GREAT, GREAT USE AND GOOD IDEA. THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK HERE IN OUR COMMUNITY. APPRECIATE IT. NEXT UP, ITEM 20

WE DO HAVE DISCOUNTS FOR STUDENTS IN COLLEGE AND TRADE SCHOOLS, BUT IT AVERAGES AROUND $55 PER MEMBER AND WE MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE IN GRANT FUNDING. OUR SEMESTER FEES ARE PAID. OUR FUNDRAISING TAKES PLACE EACH SEMESTER IN THE FALL. WE FUNDRAISE THROUGH NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY, AND IN THE SPRING WE USE A FAN ANGEL FUNDRAISING PLATFORM. OUR BUSINESS DONORS MAKE UP 25% OF INCOME FOR OUR EVENT FUNDING, AND OUR GRANT INCOME IS VARIABLE THIS YEAR. AND THIS YEAR WE HAVE APPLIED TO THE MCKINNEY ARTS COMMISSION, AND THAT'S STILL PENDING FOR $6,300 GRANT, WHICH WOULD REPRESENT 50% OF OUR EVENT FUNDING. THAT GRAPHIC ON THE RIGHT, THE DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY HOLIDAY CALENDAR. WE WERE ACTUALLY THERE ON DECEMBER 16TH. THE SOSTENUTO COMMUNITY CHORUS FOR THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS SECTION OF OUR MCKINNEY. I'M JUST I HAVEN'T HEARD OF YOU BEFORE. GLAD TO KNOW ABOUT YOU. WE HEAR A LOT ABOUT DIFFERENT CHAMBER ENSEMBLES. OBVIOUSLY WE'VE HEARD FROM THE ORCHESTRA THIS MORNING. ARE THERE OTHER LARGE CHOIRS LIKE THIS IN MCKINNEY? I MEAN, 56 ISN'T AN INSIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF SINGERS. IT ISN'T A GOOD, GOOD SIZED GROUP. WE TEXAS AND PEOPLE SAY Y'ALL ARE THE BEST KEPT SECRET. AND IT SOUNDS. SO TO HELP GET THE WORD OUT, WE DO THE BEST THAT WE CAN WITH EILEEN IS AMAZING WITH WHAT SHE DOES. I'M SORRY, CAN I SPEAK? YEAH. GO AHEAD. SO. SO THERE'S A LOT OF WORD OF MOUTH. THERE'S A LOT OF TEXT. SORRY. MICROPHONE. HI, I'M CINDY, THERE'S A LOT OF WORD OF MOUTH. AND THEN THE SOCIAL MEDIA THAT ONLY GOES SO FAR. AND WE KNOW THERE'S A LOT OF BETTER VENUES THAT EILEEN HAS LOOKED INTO FOR US TO START TAPPING INTO MORE RESOURCES TO GET THE WORD, THE WORD OUT. YEAH. AND WE WE'VE BEEN HERE SINCE WE'VE WE'VE PERFORMED IN MCKINNEY SINCE DECEMBER OF 2021 AND DONE ONE MAJOR PERFORMANCE PER SEMESTER. AND LIKE I SAID, WE DO PERFORM AT THE MCKINNEY VETERANS DAY CEREMONY. THIS WAS OUR CITY'S. THIS IS OUR FOURTH YEAR. VERY GOOD. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. SO I HAVE ONE QUESTION. SURE. WHY ARE YOU ONLY REQUESTING $1,300? THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION. WELL, OUR EXPERIENCE IN PAID ADVERTISING IS LIMITED. SO AT THIS TIME, WHAT WE WANTED TO USE AS WHAT WE FOUND FROM OUR FEEDBACK IS THAT THE GREATEST PERCENT OF FEEDBACK WE RECEIVE WAS THAT THEY HEARD ABOUT OUR CONCERT FROM A FAMILY AND FRIEND THAT IS A MEMBER OF THE CHORUS, BUT WE WANTED TO INCREASE THE TARGETED FACEBOOK ADS AND PART WITH COMMUNITY IMPACT FOR PRINT. AND I FEEL THAT WHAT WE REALIZE IS THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE ATTENDING EACH CONCERT FOR THE FIRST TIME.
THAT WORD OF MOUTH IS WORKING, BUT 1325 REFLECTS WHAT WE FEEL WE CAN USE TO ASSESS HOW BEST TO SPEND ADVERTISING DOLLARS. SO EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMS LIKE A SMALL AMOUNT, WE FELT THAT WITH OUR LIMITED EXPERIENCE IN ADVERTISING THAT WE NEED A CHANCE TO TEST OUR USE OF THOSE RESOURCES, WE'D BE GLAD TO ACCEPT A $6,000 GRANT FOR THE MAJOR BILLBOARD THERE AT 121. I THINK IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY, BUT WE FEEL THAT AT THIS TIME WE'D LIKE TO TEST OUR MARKETING FEEDBACK. I DO SPEND TIME WITH EVENT SURVEYS TO FIND OUT HOW PEOPLE FOUND OUT ABOUT US, WHERE THEY COME FROM, WHETHER THEY STAYED TO HAVE SOME DINNER HERE IN MCKINNEY WHILE THEY CAME TO OUR CONCERT, AND IF THEY'RE ATTENDING FOR THE FIRST TIME. OKAY. THANK YOU. THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION. AND SO I DO APPRECIATE YOU THE TRANSPARENCY, YOU SAY, YOU KNOW, WE ARE TRYING TO GROW.
WE NEED TO SEE HOW WE NEED TO GROW IN ASKING FOR THAT AND NOT COMING AND ASKING FOR A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT AND REALLY NOT KNOW HOW YOU PLAN TO USE IT. SO I DO APPLAUD YOU FOR THAT CONSIDERATION. WE DO WANT TO PARTNER WITH MCDC, BUT WE WANT TO BE GOOD STEWARDS OF THE FUNDS THAT ARE PROVIDED. THANK YOU. ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR MAY 19TH. MAY 9TH. MARK YOUR CALENDARS. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU. AWESOME. NEXT ITEM 20

4-2269. CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BY[01:45:03]
MAIN GATE THERAPEUTIC HORSEMANSHIP, PC 25 DASH TEN AND THE AMOUNT OF 12,500 FOR THE ADVERTISING MARKETING PROMOTION OF THE 2025 MAIN GATE LIVE, COUNTRY FAIR AND CONCERT. GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. IT'S NICE TO GET MOVING. IT WAS FREEZING BACK THERE. MY NAME IS MEGAN. I'M THE DONOR RELATIONS MANAGER, AND WE HAVE JENNIFER.SHE'S OUR HOSPITALITY MANAGER. SO WE'RE FROM MAIN GATE AND WE'RE HAPPY TO BE BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR. PRESENTING TO YOU ABOUT AM I PUSHING THE WRONG BUTTONS? THERE WE GO. MAIN GATE LIVE. SO THIS YEAR WE ARE HERE ASKING FOR $12,500 FOR MAIN GATE LIVE COUNTRY FAIR AND CONCERT, WHICH WILL BE ON APRIL 26TH, 2025. WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS YEAR'S EVENT. WE PUT ON MAIN GATE LIVE FOR A FEW REASONS, TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO.
WE'RE A THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING FACILITY THAT DOES HORSEBACK RIDING FOR KIDS, ADULTS, AND VETERANS WITH DISABILITIES. BUT WE'RE A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THAT. WE'RE A COMMUNITY CENTER, AND WE WANT TO INCREASE THAT KNOWLEDGE FOR OUR PEOPLE, TO TELL THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT WHO WE ARE. WE LIKE TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT OUR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, BUT ALSO GIVE OUR COMMUNITY AN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL THEM ABOUT WHO THEY ARE BY DOING A COMMUNITY EVENT, BY SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY. OH, I AM FREEZING. I AM SO SORRY. THIS YEAR OUR EVENT WILL BE AT YOUR. EVERYBODY ELSE IS FREEZING. WE'RE ALL COLD. I'M LIKE SHAKING. I'M SO COLD. WE HAD OUR EVENT LAST YEAR AT TUFTS AND IT WAS PHENOMENAL. WE LOVE TUPPS. I THINK I'M THERE TWICE A WEEK. THE PLACE IS PHENOMENAL AND LAST YEAR JUST THE LOCATION ITSELF, HOW WE WERE ABLE TO RUN THE EVENT WAS AMAZING. KEITH, KATIE. JUST GREAT PEOPLE. SO WE'RE EXCITED TO GO BACK THERE AGAIN AND HOST THIS EVENT BECAUSE WE CAN'T HAVE EVENTS AT MAIN GATE RIGHT NOW CURRENTLY, BECAUSE WE ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION, BEING ABLE TO PARTNER WITH SOMEBODY IN OUR COMMUNITY LIKE THIS HAS BEEN SUCH A HUGE BLESSING FOR US. SO THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF OUR MARKETING FLIERS THAT WE USE THIS LAST YEAR ALL OVER THE PLACE. IT'S BEEN IT'S PRETTY MUCH WHAT WE'LL LOOK LIKE THIS NEXT YEAR FOR US WITH ALL OF THE INFORMATION. SO WHAT THE DAY WILL LOOK LIKE FOR US, WE'LL OPEN UP AT 12, WE'LL GO TILL ABOUT SIX. IT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC AND IT WILL HAVE A TON OF ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES OF PEOPLE, KIDS, ADULTS. WE HAVE A WHOLE KID ZONE OF FUN STUFF FOR THEM TO DO. AX THROWING FOR THE ADVENTUROUS ADULT. ANYBODY CAN GET THEIR FACE PAINTED. I KNOW I DID IT ONE YEAR, FOOD TRUCKS AND THEN THE EXCITEMENT OF THE DAY ALL DAY LONG IS OUR COMMUNITY STAGE. THAT IS SPONSORED BY THE LOVE LIFE FOUNDATION AND BRINGING IN GREAT MUSIC FROM OUR COMMUNITY. AND I MEAN THE MUSIC. THAT IS OUR FAVORITE PART BECAUSE WE GET TO HEAR PEOPLE ALL DAY LONG PLAYING AMAZING MUSIC. OUR BUDGET. SO WE'RE LOOKING AT BRINGING IN GROSS ABOUT $210,000. THE COST OF THE EVENT WILL BE JUST OVER 70,000, AND WE'RE LOOKING AT NETTING JUST SHY OF 140,000. FROM PREVIOUS NUMBERS. WE HAVE BROUGHT IN ABOUT 70% OF OUR PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE OF MCKINNEY, WHICH IS PRETTY COOL SEEING THAT THIS IS JUST A SNAPSHOT OF SOME OF OUR DONORS, OUR SPONSORS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. THESE ARE OUR MCKINNEY BASED ONES, AND WITHOUT THEM, THIS IS NOT EVEN POSSIBLE. OUR DONORS BEING THAT THAT'S MY SPECIALTY OF WHAT I DO AT MAIN GATE. THESE PARTNERSHIPS ARE TRULY A BLESSING, AND THE ONLY REASON WHY MAIN GATE CONSIDERED CAN CONTINUE DOING WHAT WE DO ON A DAILY BASIS. SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO USE THIS MONEY FOR? WE TRANSITIONED THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND DOING A LOT MORE ONLINE PROMOTIONS, AND THAT REALLY HAS BROUGHT IN A LOT OF WHEN WE DID A LOT OF TICKET SALES, WHEN WE WERE DOING A VIP CONCERT, WE GOT A LOT OF PUSH THROUGH THAT WAY. BUT LAST YEAR, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE DOING IT STILL AS A FREE EVENT, WE WERE REALLY SEEING A LOT OF INCREASE OF PEOPLE GOING, OH WOW, YOU'RE MOVING OVER TO TUPPS. IT WAS REALLY EASY FOR US TO BE ABLE TO GET THE INFO OUT THERE TO PEOPLE. WE STILL DO OUR PRINT STUFF. WE DO IT IN. DO YOU REMEMBER OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD WHAT WE DO IT IN COMMUNITY IMPACT? AND THERE'S ONE OTHER ONE. SORRY. YEAH. THE MCKINNEY MAGAZINES, WE DO THE RADIO. THE RADIO IS HUGE. MAINLY DOES A COUPLE PRE-RECORDS FOR US AND WE PUT THEM OUT THERE AND THOSE ARE HUGE. WE WENT AWAY FROM DOING
[01:50:06]
THE BIG, THE BIG BILLBOARD AND WE DO OTHER POSTERS AROUND SIGN. WE DO A SIGN SPINNER.HYSTERICAL. WE LOVE THOSE GUYS, BUT WE HAVE A TOTAL OF 16,000 THAT WE SPEND ON MARKETING. BUT WE'RE ASKING FOR 12.5 AND IT IS INCREDIBLY HELPFUL. WHAT WE DO GET FROM YOU GUYS. SOME PICTURES, SOME FUN PICTURES FROM THE DAY. ANY QUESTIONS YOU ALL HAVE FOR US? OH, LOOK AT THAT.
BOOM. YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB LAST YEAR MOVING LOCATIONS. HAVING BEEN AT MAIN GATE FOR MANY YEARS AND THEN DEALING WITH THE TUPPS OPENING AND YOU GUYS REALLY PUT ON A GREAT EVENT, ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS THAT YOU LEARNED FROM LAST YEAR THAT, OKAY, THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY THIS YEAR? WE ARE GOING TO DO SOME THINGS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. LAST YEAR WE HAD A HUGE TRANSITION RIGHT AT THE END BECAUSE RAIN. SO WE ALWAYS HAVE A RAIN PLAN. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE ALWAYS DO JUST BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A RAIN PLAN, I MEAN, YOU'RE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE. AND SO JENNIFER, BEING OUR HOSPITALITY AND EVENT MANAGER, SHE HAD TO PULL THE RAIN PLAN. AND WE WENT FROM HAVING OUR OUTSIDE BIG CONCERT TO PULLING IT INDOORS AND BUILDING IN A METAL BUILDING. SO THAT HELPED US TWEAK HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO SOME THINGS THIS YEAR. AND WE'RE OKAY WITH THAT. WE'RE GOING TO ALTER THE WAY WE ACTUALLY DO THE CONCERTS, AND WE'RE GOING TO BRING IT A LITTLE BIT MORE COMMUNITY BASED THIS YEAR AND NOT DO A BIG VIP CONCERT AND FOCUS MORE TO OUR COMMUNITY AND BRING IN MORE COMMUNITY PARTNERS ON THE MUSIC SIDE OF THINGS, AND PARTNERING MORE WITH MARLEY AND SAYING, WHO ELSE CAN YOU GET FROM OUR COMMUNITY TO PERFORM? INSTEAD OF BRINGING IN A HEADLINER THIS YEAR? AND I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE BETTER FOR THE ALL DAY ASPECT FOR THE FAMILIES. THAT WAY WE DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A BIG TRANSITION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY AND CHANGE OVER AT BIG STAGE. THANK YOU FOR SITTING WITH US IN THIS COLD CHAMBER. I THINK PAUL WAS TRYING TO SAVE MONEY BEFORE THEY MOVED TO THE NEW CITY HALL. HE'S JUST GIVING UP ON THIS ONE, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE TANISHA WAS LISTENING TO US AND MAYBE HE HAS TURNED ON THE HEATER, SO THAT'S OKAY. SHOULD BE GOOD NOW. ALL RIGHT, SO YOU SAID YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE THIS. LOCAL BANDS. NO HEADLINE. BIG, BIG. WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO A HEADLINER THIS YEAR. WE'RE GOING TO EVEN THOUGH WE'VE ALWAYS DONE COMMUNITY MUSIC UP UNTIL THE HEADLINER THIS YEAR WE'RE GOING TO DO COMMUNITY ALL DAY LONG.
PERFECT. YEAH. AND THEN WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE, YOU KNOW, THE BIG GALA. COME ON BACK TO MCKINNEY, TOO. SO WE CAN'T WAIT TO BE BACK AT OUR FACILITY. AND IF YOU'VE NOT SEEN IT LATELY, OH MY GOSH, YOU WON'T RECOGNIZE ME IN GATE IF YOU'RE NOT DRIVEN BY IN A WHILE. IT IS. WE DON'T WE DON'T RECOGNIZE IT COMING INTO WORK. SOME DAYS IT'S PRETTY CRAZY. SO WE CAN'T WAIT TO BE BACK AT MAIN GATE TO. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. AND THE PLAN IS TO GO BACK TO THE VIP CONCERT AT MAIN GATE.
ONCE WE'RE AT MAIN GATE. WE JUST LEARNED LAST YEAR THAT. YEAH, WE JUST LEARNED LAST YEAR. SORRY ABOUT MY VOICE, THAT WITH THE VENUE AND THE RAIN WE DON'T HAVE THE COVER ABILITY TO PROVIDE OUR GUESTS AND DONORS WITH THE EXPERIENCE THAT THEY DESERVE. AND MAYLEE AND HER TEAM ARE INCREDIBLE TO WORK WITH, AND SHE ALWAYS JUST BRINGS BRILLIANT, TALENTED FOLKS OUT. SO THIS IS JUST A GREAT OPTION FOR US. YEAH, ANY OTHER COMMENTS? QUESTIONS. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
[Consider/Discuss Promotional and Community Event Grant Application Submitted by McKinney Public Library Foundation (PC 25-11) in the Amount of $7,000.00 for the Advertising, Marketing and Promotion of 2025 Fall Special Events.]
THANK YOU GUYS. THANK YOU. UP NEXT WE HAVE ITEM 20 4-2270. CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY THE MCKINNEY PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION PC 2511. IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,000 FOR THE ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 FALL SPECIAL EVENTS, ARE YOU? I'M NOT ON THE BOARD. OKAY. VERY GOOD.SO BOARD, THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT. MY NAME IS KATE WILSON. I AM THE COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST REPRESENTING THE LIBRARY. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE ABSENCE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS. THERE WAS FAMILY OBLIGATIONS. AND OUR DIRECTOR SPENCER IS IN A MEETING ABOUT THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE DOWNTOWN LIBRARY. SO WE ARE EXCITED TO SHARE OUR PLANS FOR OUR SPECIAL EVENTS. AND I WANTED TO KIND OF GROUND US IN WHY WE'RE DOING THIS. WE HAVE A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT PARTNERS HERE. SO ONE, THE FOUNDATION GOALS ARE TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF THE LIBRARY AND TO PROMOTE THE MCKINNEY LITERARY FEST. THE LIBRARY GOALS ARE TO HOST SPECIAL EVENTS THAT ENGAGE NEW AUDIENCES AND CREATE EXPERIENCES THAT ARE NOT EASILY DUPLICATED
[01:55:04]
ELSEWHERE. SO IT'S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT THERE AREN'T A LOT OF FREE, FAMILY FRIENDLY AND FUN ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE IN THE COMMUNITY THESE DAYS, SO WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OFFERING FREE, FAMILY FRIENDLY AND ENGAGING AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES AND INTERESTS AT BOTH OF OUR LIBRARIES. WE ALSO HAVE LEARNED THAT THROUGH POST EVENT SURVEYS, THAT A LOT OF OUR ATTENDEES AT THESE EVENTS COME FROM OUTSIDE OF MCKINNEY. I WAS JUST RUNNING THE DATA, AND IT LOOKS BETWEEN ABOUT 20 AND 30% OF OUR ATTENDEES COME FROM OUTSIDE MCKINNEY, SO I AM HERE TO REQUEST FUNDS TO ADVERTISE EIGHT SPECIAL EVENTS FOR THE MCKINNEY PUBLIC LIBRARY. THOSE EVENTS, SOME OF THEM ARE PLANNED. SO MARDI GRAS, SPRING BREAK, SPRING INTO FUN. THOSE ARE OUR SPRING EVENTS. WE HAVE SOME SUMMER EVENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULED, BUT WE HAVEN'T IDENTIFIED THE NAMES YET FOR THEM. AND THEN FINALLY, THE MCKINNEY LITERATURE FEST, WHICH IS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 23RD THROUGH 24TH AT MCKINNEY CITY HALL. AS YOU'RE AWARE, THE MCKINNEY THE DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS THIS SUMMER, SO WE ARE GOING TO BE USING THE NEW CITY HALL TO MAINTAIN THE DOWNTOWN LOCATION OF THAT EVENT. THAT PARTICULAR EVENT. SO SORRY, I'LL BACK UP ALL OF THE SEVEN FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENTS ARE FREE AND WILL BE HOSTED IN THE MAJORITY AT THE JOHN AND JUDY GAY LIBRARY. AND THEN THE MCKINNEY LITERARY FEST IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT, AS IT IS A WRITER AND AUTHOR FESTIVAL WHERE WE BRING IN LOCAL AUTHORS, WRITERS AND ILLUSTRATORS TO SHOWCASE THEIR WORK, AND WE ALSO BRING IN BRING IN LITERARY LOVERS FROM ACROSS THE NORTH TEXAS AREA TO COME AND MEET THESE WRITERS, HEAR THEM SPEAK AND HEAR THEM READ FROM THEIR BOOKS. SO A COUPLE OF OUR MARKETING PLANS. SO WE TRADITIONALLY HAVE NOT HAD A MARKETING BUDGET FOR ANY LIBRARY EVENTS. SO WE FOR EVERY EVENT UTILIZE FREE MARKETING. WE HAVE OUR OWN FACEBOOK ACCOUNT, WE HAVE OUR NEWSLETTER. WE HAVE GROWN THOSE OVER THE YEARS. AND WE ALSO UTILIZE THE CITY'S NEWSLETTER AND FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS. SO THEY HAVE A MUCH LARGER AUDIENCE. AND WE ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO SOME DIGITAL SIGNAGE DOWNTOWN. SO ALL OF OUR EVENTS, WE USE THESE FREE EFFORTS FOR OUR SEVEN FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENTS. I'M REQUESTING A SMALL BUDGET TO SUPPORT SOME META FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM ADS. PRIMARILY, THAT IS TO GET THE WORD OUTSIDE OF OUR LITTLE SILO CHAMBERS. PEOPLE THAT ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THE LIBRARY EVENTS, AND ALSO TO PRODUCE SOME BOOKMARKS. WE WILL BE DOING A LOT OF OUTREACH OVER THE NEXT YEAR WITH THE LIBRARY CLOSED, SO WE'LL BE OUT IN THE COMMUNITY A LOT MORE. THESE WILL BE OPPORTUNITIES TO HAND PEOPLE SOME PROMOTIONAL AND USABLE MATERIALS WHILE WE'RE OUT IN THE COMMUNITY. FOR THE MCKINNEY LITERARY FEST, I'M REQUESTING A LARGER BUDGET TO SUPPORT THE ADVERTISING AND MARKETING OF THAT EVENT. WE ARE REQUESTING A FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM META ADS SPONSOR, META AD DOLLARS, AS WELL AS CREATING A PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY IMPACT, AND NOT JUST WITH THE MCKINNEY LOCATION OF THE COMMUNITY IMPACT, BUT THE FRISCO, PROSPER, CELINA AND PLANO EDITIONS. WE REALLY WANT TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THIS EVENT TO DRAW IN MORE ATTENDEES AND REALLY GET THE WORD OUT TO ALL THE LITERARY LOVERS IN THE NORTH TEXAS AREA, SOME MARKETING EXAMPLES. SO WE ARE VERY APPRECIATIVE OF THE FUNDS THAT WE RECEIVED LAST SEASON TO HELP PROMOTE SOME OF OUR EVENTS. WE WERE ABLE TO KIND OF USE THOSE DOLLARS TO TEST SOME OF THESE MARKETING EFFORTS. SO YOU'LL SEE A COUPLE OF FACEBOOK ADS, A COMMUNITY IMPACT AD. SO WE'RE ABLE TO TEST AND TRACK AND KIND OF TWEAK AND PIVOT AS WE PUT TOGETHER THIS PLAN. SO I BELIEVE THAT'S ALL I HAVE FOR TODAY. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. AND WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO WORK TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU SO MUCH. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? I HAVE A QUESTION. SO I ASSUME THAT THE LOPSIDED NATURE OF THE EVENTS BETWEEN JOHN AND JUDY GAY AND HELEN HALL IS BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION, RIGHT? YES. YES, SIR. THE LIBRARY IS SCHEDULED.WELL, THE PLANS ARE NOT FIRM, BUT WE ARE PLANNING FOR THE LIBRARY TO BE CLOSED THIS SPRING, WITH CONSTRUCTION STARTING OVER THE SUMMER. AND THAT'S NOT FIRM YET. I THOUGHT WE HAD ANNOUNCED THAT. AND IT WAS KIND OF SET. I MIGHT NOT BE PRIVY TO THAT, BUT THERE. I BELIEVE WE'RE STILL WORKING ON THAT DATE. OKAY. AND HOW LONG IS THAT CONSTRUCTION GOING TO LAST? IT'S SUPPOSED TO LAST FOR ONE YEAR. RIGHT? OKAY. SO I JUST KIND OF GENERAL QUESTION CITY
[02:00:09]
EVENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE CITY NEWSLETTER AND THE FREE CITY AND CITY FACEBOOK PAGE PAGE, ETC. DO THE REST OF OUR EVENTS THAT WE SUPPORT ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO THAT NEWSLETTER? AND CAN WE CONSIDER.WHETHER OR NOT LIKE I WOULD LIKE TO UTILIZE CITY RESOURCES FOR CITY SUPPORTED EVENTS IS WHAT I'M THINKING ABOUT. THEY THEY CAN ACCESS THOSE CITY FREE RESOURCES. CAN OUR OTHER EVENTS.
IT'S NOT NECESSARILY A QUESTION FOR YOU. I BELIEVE THAT WE LIKE I BELIEVE THAT WE DO INCLUDE.
YOU KNOW, I'VE SEEN THE DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ADVERTISED IN THAT CITY NEWSLETTER. SO THAT IS NOT A CITY EVENT, BUT IS SPONSORED IN PART BY THIS ORGANIZATION AND OTHER CITY DEPARTMENTS. SO I BELIEVE THAT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO UTILIZE. LINDA, DO YOU WANT TO ADD ANYTHING? WE CAN AND WE HAVE A DEDICATED ASSOCIATION. ON BEHALF OF ANYONE RECEIVING A GRANT FOR FROM MCDC, WE CAN SEND INFORMATION TO BE PUT IN THAT NEWSLETTER. WE HAVE ON OCCASION. WE DON'T DO THAT OFTEN, BUT WE'LL LOOK AT DOING THAT MORE OFTEN. WHY? WHAT WHAT IS THE TRIGGER POINT THERE? WHY DON'T WE DO THAT MORE OFTEN? WHAT AND WHAT MAKES US DECIDE TO DO THAT? THE TRIGGER POINT ON WHY WE HAVEN'T DONE IT OFTEN IS TIME. WE NOW HAVE MONEY ON STAFF, SO THAT TIME IS GOING TO BE EXPANDING INTO ON DIFFERENT LOST OPPORTUNITIES BASICALLY. SO YEAH, OKAY. BUT THERE'S NO COST TO THERE'S NO COST TO MCDC TO PROMOTE OUR GRANT RECIPIENT OPPORTUNITIES. I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE A GOOD THING FOR US TO DO, TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF OUR GRANT RECIPIENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE SAME FREE RESOURCES THAT OUR CITY EVENTS DO. ABSOLUTELY. ANY ADDITIONAL COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS? I THINK WE'RE ALL SO COLD. WE JUST HAVE NOTHING TO SAY. WE JUST WE JUST THE Y'ALL AT THE END GOING PROBABLY GOING TO BE LIKE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH BECAUSE WE'RE FROZEN. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU. NO ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO
[Consider/Discuss Promotional and Community Event Grant Application Submitted by Marching Music Made in McKinney (PC 25-12) in the Amount of $5,600.00 for the Advertising, Marketing and Promotion of the 2025 Drum Corps International Competition at MISD Stadium and Drumline Battle at TUPPS.]
DO THAT RIGHT. YEAH EXACTLY. NEXT WE HAVE ITEM 20 4-2271. CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY MARCHING MUSIC MADE IN MCKINNEY PC 20 5-1 PC ONE TWO. IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,600 FOR THE ADVERTISING MARKETING PROMOTION OF THE 2025 DRUM DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION AT MISD STADIUM. IN DRUMLINE BATTLES AT TUBBS. HELLO. THANK YOU. MY NAME IS ZACH SAMUEL. I'M HERE REPRESENTING MARCHING MUSIC MADE IN MCKINNEY. WE'RE A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FOCUSED AROUND FUNDRAISING FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAMS HERE IN MCKINNEY. WE DO THIS EACH YEAR THROUGH TWO MAIN EVENTS, PARTNERING WITH AN ORGANIZATION CALLED DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL, ALSO KNOWN AS DCI. AND IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE ACTIVITY, I HAVE A VERY SHORT VIDEO TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT THAT'S ALL ABOUT.IF IT WILL PLAY. LET'S SEE. OH, YOU GOT IT. THANK YOU. NO SOUND. YEAH. I IMAGINE WE'VE ALL BEEN WE'VE ALL ATTENDED. IT'S AMAZING. BASICALLY IT'S AN I CAN I CAN OKAY. ARTISTIC EDUCATIONAL AND DO IT. YEAH. YEAH. ESSENTIALLY THIS IS THIS IS WHAT THEY CALL THE MAJOR LEAGUES OF MARCHING BAND. SO THESE ARE THE MOST ELITE GROUPS IN THE WORLD. THIS IS FOOTAGE FROM THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS THAT TAKE PLACE IN INDIANAPOLIS. THEY HAVE ABOUT 50 TO 60,000 ATTENDEES EACH YEAR FOR THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. AND THIS REPRESENTS THE PINNACLE OF MARCHING ARTS EDUCATION TO BE A MEMBER OF ONE OF THESE GROUPS. BEGINNINGS HALF A CENTURY. THERE IT IS. SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL HAS DEVELOPED INTO A POWERFUL GLOBAL YOUTH ACTIVITY WITH FAR REACHING ARTISTIC, EDUCATIONAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL INFLUENCE. WE HAVE A NATIONWIDE SUMMER TOUR AND ANNUAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PLANS. HERE WE GO. OH YEAH! ALMOST HAD IT. HAD IT FROZEN FROM ITS MODEST BEGINNINGS HALF A CENTURY AGO, DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL HAS DEVELOPED INTO A POWERFUL GLOBAL YOUTH ACTIVITY WITH FAR REACHING ARTISTIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL INFLUENCE. YEAH, SO IT'S A WORLDWIDE ORGANIZATION. THERE'S PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD THAT COME TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS ACTIVITY, AND IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO LEVERAGE OUR STADIUM HERE IN MCKINNEY. SO
[02:05:06]
WE HAVE PARTNERED ONCE AGAIN WITH DCI. THEY WOULD LIKE TO COME BACK TO MCKINNEY TO DO THEIR DCI MCKINNEY COMPETITION AT MISD STADIUM. AND THIS GRAPHIC HERE REPRESENTS THE GROUPS THAT WILL BE PERFORMING THIS YEAR AT THE STADIUM. WE HAVE A FANTASTIC LINEUP. THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST WE'VE EVER HAD WITH SIX OF OUR OR FIVE OF THESE GROUPS BEING TOP 12 FINALISTS AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS LAST YEAR. WE'VE GOT THE SANTA CLARA VANGUARD COMING BACK TO THE DRUMLINE EXPO. THEY ARE THE WORLD CHAMPIONS FOR DRUMLINE FROM LAST SEASON, SO THAT'S REALLY EXCITING. AND IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT EVENT. WE ALSO, FIVE OF THESE GROUPS REPRESENT THE TOP FIFTH OR FOURTH THROUGH SEVENTH PLACE COMPETITORS. SO A VERY BIG PULL FROM THESE GROUPS THIS YEAR, WHICH HELPS US A LOT, A LOT WITH OUR PROMOTION OF THE EVENT. NO, IT'S NOT CLICKING OKAY. DOES THAT MEAN. IT IT. YEAH. GOTTA LOVE IT. FANTASTIC. OH HERE WE GO. ALL RIGHT. VERY GOOD. SO THERE'S A VERY LARGE COMPETITION IN SAN ANTONIO THE SUNDAY THE 19TH OF JULY. AND WE ARE THE LAST STOP IN TEXAS FOR THE DCI TEXAS TOUR. SO THE COURSE WILL ARRIVE ON THE 20TH IN MCKINNEY. AND PEOPLE COME FROM ALL OVER THE METROPLEX JUST TO WATCH THESE GROUPS REHEARSE, JUST TO GET A GLIMPSE AND KIND OF RUB ELBOWS WITH THESE GROUPS. SO MONDAY THE 20TH WILL BE OUR DRUMLINE EXPO AT TUFTS. LAST YEAR WE HAD A GREAT SUCCESS. WE HAD OVER FIVE RIGHT AROUND 500 TICKETS SOLD, AND ALL THE MONEY GOES STRAIGHT BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAMS, WHICH THE COSTS ARE RISING TO PARTICIPATE IN THOSE ACTIVITIES. I BELIEVE FOR MCKINNEY HIGH SCHOOL TO BE IN THE MARCHING BAND. BAND FEES WERE AROUND $1,800 THIS YEAR. SO YEAH, IT'S SERIOUS. AND THEN WE HAVE OUR LARGE DCI MCKINNEY COMPETITION ON THE TUESDAY AT THE STADIUM, WHICH REPRESENTS A LARGE THE LARGEST AMOUNT OF THE FUNDRAISING NEXT TO SPONSORSHIP. AND THIS YEAR WAS REALLY COOL, ACTUALLY, MCKINNEY ISD GRAD REAGAN MAEDA WAS IN THE SANTA CLARA VANGUARD, SO SHE WAS FEATURED ON THE BILLBOARD. SO THAT'S FUN. SO THIS IS OUR FOURTH YEAR, AND WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE A SECOND YEAR AT TUPPS. YOU KNOW, LAST YEAR AND THE YEAR BEFORE, WE KIND OF HAD TO WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME WITH LOGISTICS, JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE WERE GOING TO PULL THE EVENTS OFF BECAUSE WE WERE HAVING TO FIND DIFFERENT VENUES. EXPECTING OVER 500 ATTENDEES THIS YEAR AT THE DRUMLINE EXPO AND OVER 3000 TICKETS SOLD AT MISD STADIUM LAST YEAR, FLOW MARCHING COMM, WHICH IS A STREAMING SERVICE, LIVE STREAMED THE DCI MCKINNEY SHOW. THEY HAD OVER 5000 UNIQUE VISITORS ON THAT STREAM, SO REALLY GOOD VISIBILITY FOR THE STADIUM AND THEY WANT TO PARTNER WITH US BECAUSE OF OUR STADIUM, STATE OF THE ART CAPABILITIES AT THE STADIUM. THIS YEAR, WE ALSO CROSSED OUR $100,000 MARK RAISED FOR MISD BANDS IN THE LAST THREE YEARS, AND WE ALSO AIM TO SUPPORT, YOU KNOW, COMMERCE IN MCKINNEY, PROMOTING OUR SQUARE AND OUR MUSIC FRIENDLY COMMUNITY HERE. SO OUR GOAL FOR THE GRANT IS TO LEVERAGE MAINLY PRINT AND DIGITAL CONTENT. SO LAST YEAR WE SAW GOOD SUCCESS WITH HIGH QUALITY VIDEO CONTENT. WE HAD A REAL GO VIRAL AND IT'S CURRENTLY AT ALMOST 9 MILLION VIEWS. AND WE GAINED OVER 10,000 FOLLOWERS JUST THIS YEAR WITH THAT. SO LOOKING TO LEVERAGE THOSE CHANNELS, ALSO PARTNERING WITH CONTENT CREATORS IN THE SPACE WAS SUCCESSFUL LAST YEAR. SO WE WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN, COMPENSATING THEM FOR THEIR HOTEL STAYS AND THINGS LIKE THAT TO COME CREATE CONTENT AT OUR EVENTS. AND I BELIEVE THERE'S A TYPO ON THERE. I THINK PROJECTED REVENUE SHOULD BE CLOSER TO 60,000, AND WE'LL ALSO BE REQUESTING A GRANT FROM VISIT MCKINNEY, AS WE DO GENERATE SOME HOTEL STAYS HERE IN THE CITY. SO ANY QUESTIONS? I JUST HAVE ONE. I BELIEVE LAST YEAR THERE WAS SOME TALK ABOUT EXPANDING THE FOOTPRINT, LIKE HAVING SOME OF THE STUDENTS GO TO PARKS OR SCHOOLS OR SOMETHING. I DON'T KNOW IF I'M ALONE IN REMEMBERING THAT, BUT WAS THAT JUST SORT OF A VISION? MAYBE IT DIDN'T COME TO FRUITION? OR IS THAT STILL SOMETHING THAT'S BEING CONSIDERED? YEAH. SO TRYING TO CREATE MORE MORE EVENTS AROUND THAN JUST SO IT REALLY IS UP TO THE COURSE. THEY'RE ALL NONPROFITS AS WELL. SO WE'RE TRYING TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEM. BUT THEY'RE LOSING PRECIOUS REHEARSAL TIME. AND THEY'RE ALSO PAYING TO USE THE MISD FACILITIES. SO IT IS GENERATING REVENUE FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AS WELL. SO THE UNIQUE POSITION WE HAVE IS THAT THEY'VE JUST COME OFF THAT LARGE COMPETITION IN SAN ANTONIO, OUR DRUMLINE EXPO DAY AND THEIR STAY IN MCKINNEY REALLY IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO KIND OF[02:10:03]
CATCH A BREATHER. AND SO WE ARE EXPLORING, TRYING TO DO SOME MORE KIND OF EVENTS. BUT WE'RE NOT ABLE TO HAVE THEM VISIT NECESSARILY. I MEAN, SCHOOL'S OUT OF SEASON IN THE SUMMER. SO BUT YEAH, THEY ALSO THE REHEARSALS ARE TYPICALLY OPEN SO STUDENTS CAN COME AND VIEW THE REHEARSALS AND. YEAH. OKAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YEAH. ANYTHING ELSE. ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS COMMENTS. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. NEXT UP WE HAVE ITEM 24 DASH 20 272. PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY MCKINNEY. MAIN STREET PC 20 513.IN THE AMOUNT OF 13,000 FOR THE ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTION OF THE 2025 ARTS IN BLOOM EVENT. AND WE HAVE THE PHENOMENAL PRODUCER OF BY DIE HARD BY HARD MCKINNEY, JAKAYA.
GOOD MORNING. WE'RE GOING TO START IT. ALL RIGHT. ARTS AND BLOOM FESTIVAL RETURNS TO DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 11TH TO SUNDAY, APRIL 13TH. EVERY YEAR, OUR TEAM WORKS TO CREATE A POSITIVE VISIT FOR GUESTS THAT NOT ONLY RESULTS IN INCREASED SALES FOR VENDORS AND SMALL BUSINESSES, BUT ENCOURAGES VISITORS TO RETURN FOR MORE EXPERIENCES IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY. LAST YEAR, WE WELCOMED 50,000 VISITORS TO SHOP FOR ART, SIP WINE, BE ENTERTAINED BY OUR MULTIPLE PLEIN AIR ARTISTS AND MORE. AND IN 2025, WE PLAN TO CONTINUE AND EXPAND ON WHAT WAS SUCCESSFUL. FOR EXAMPLE, OUR ARTIST DEMONSTRATION STAGE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MAIN STREET TO COLLABORATE WITH OUR LOCAL ARTS GROUPS BY PROVIDING THEM A SPOTLIGHT TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS, GUESTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH EXPERTS EXCEL AT THEIR CRAFT AS WELL AS ENGAGE IN HANDS ON ACTIVITIES. AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, WE'LL FEATURE PLATFORMS FOR THE MCKINNEY PLEIN AIR ART SOCIETY TO BEAUTIFULLY DOCUMENT THE FESTIVAL IN REAL TIME, WITH A 360 VIEW FOR OBSERVERS. THIS OPPORTUNITY, AS WELL AS THE KIDS CREATE STATION, ARE WONDERFUL OPTIONS FOR FAMILIES TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN THE FESTIVAL. NOW LET'S TALK WINE, SHALL WE? LAST YEAR WE SOLD $52,000 OF WINE AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO DOING THAT AGAIN. 14 TEXAN WINERIES WILL GATHER IN A PAVILION FOR GUESTS TO ENGAGE IN WINE TASTINGS OR PURCHASE BY THE GLASS OR BOTTLE.
WHILE ARTS IN BLOOM IS THE DRAW 800, EXCUSE ME, 185. SMALL BUSINESSES IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY ARE THE STARS OF THE SHOW. THE SUCCESS OF THIS EVENT ALLOWS MAIN STREET TO REINVEST IN DOWNTOWN WITH ADS, WAYFINDING GUIDES AND THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS FOR OUR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. WE'LL MEASURE OUR SUCCESS WITH AN AFTER ACTION PLAN THAT INCLUDES THE COMPARISON OF PREVIOUS YEARS SALES DATA FROM VENDORS, AND COLLECTION OF STAKEHOLDER FEEDBACK TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE EVENT. OUR PLAN IS AS FOLLOWS. TARGETED SOCIAL MEDIA ADS, INTENTIONAL INFLUENCER PARTNERSHIPS, AND LEGACY MEDIA SUPPORT. THE JOY PRESENTING EVENTS LIKE ARTS IN BLOOM ALLOWS MAIN STREET TO INTRODUCE, RECONNECT AND HELP PEOPLE DISCOVER ALL THERE IS TO OFFER IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY. WHAT WAS ONCE A MODESTLY ATTENDED ART EVENT HAS BLOSSOMED INTO A MUST ATTEND DESTINATION EXPERIENCE, AND THAT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE CDC BOARD. YOUR COLLABORATION HAS HELPED MAIN STREET PRODUCE A PREMIERE ART FESTIVAL IN TEXAS, AND ■FOR THA, WE ARE DEEPLY THANKFUL. THANK YOU AND I'LL STAND FOR QUESTIONS. THANK YOU. ANDREW, TAKE NOTES PLEASE. WE HAVE.
THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION. ANY QUESTIONS? COMMENTS? DO WE HAVE HER PRESENT FROM HERE ON OUT? I DON'T KNOW IF SHE KNEW. GREAT JOB. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. NEXT WE HAVE ITEM 20

AJ, I AM THE UNEMBODIED FACE THAT ASSOCIATES WITH THE EMAIL THAT YOU KEEP GETTING. SO THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE MCKINNEY FOLKS THAT HAVE MADE THOSE TWO EVENTS JUST ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. THIS EVENT IS RUN FOR HOPE. WALK IN UNITY, SUPPORTING THE BENEFITING THE NEIGHBOR HUB AT MCKINNEY AND THEIR CORE TENANTS. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE HAVE GREAT.HOPE FOR. RIGHT TO USE THAT WORD. OUR PRAYERS, OUR FAITH IS AND WHERE OUR HEART IS, IS FOR
[02:15:01]
THOSE PEOPLE IN NEED AND OUR VULNERABLE COMMUNITY MEMBERS. AND THAT'S WHY WE'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE EVENTS THAT I'VE JUST ARTICULATED. THIS IS THE SAME THING. OUR ORGANIZATION IS VERY INTERESTED IN HELPING WITH HUB CONCEPTS AND DIFFERENT CITIES. AND WHEN WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS ONE, WE GOT IMMEDIATELY ENGAGED. AND WE WANT TO HELP IN ANY WAY WE CAN. AND ONE OF THE WAYS WE'RE DOING THAT IS WITH THIS EVENT, WHICH IS A TRADITIONAL FIVE K RUN, A UNITY INTERFAITH ONE MILE WALK AND A SPRING FESTIVAL. IT'S APRIL 12TH IN TOWN LAKE PARK, AND IT AGAIN IS TIES TO WHERE OUR HEART IS, CRITICAL ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED, AND HELPING NEIGHBOR HUB AND BRINGING TOGETHER DIFFERENT CULTURES AND INTERFAITH TO DO JUST THAT. WHERE ARE THE ATTENDEES COMING FROM? WE HAVE THE FAITH GROUPS AND INTERFAITH COUNCILS. I'M THE AREA INTERFAITH SPECIALIST FOR THE COLLIN COUNTY CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS MEMBERSHIP. SO 26,000 MEMBERS WERE DRAWING ON THAT AUDIENCE, AS WELL AS ALL OF OUR CHURCH, TEMPLE AND MOSQUE CONNECTIONS TO COME COMMUNITY MEMBERS, FAMILIES AND YOUTH GROUPS. BECAUSE IT IS A SPRING FESTIVAL, RIGHT? THE THREE THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING, OF COURSE, IT ALSO INCLUDES A5K, SO RUNNERS AND HIGH SCHOOL RUNNING TEAMS, AND THEN THE BUSINESS AND CIVIC GROUPS, WHICH WE TIE INTO THROUGH OUR THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT WERE CONNECTED THROUGH TO CERTAINLY WITH SANCHEZ COMPANIES AND EVERYTHING THEY'RE INVOLVED IN, BUT ALSO AS IT RELATES TO NAACP AND THE HINDU SEVA HERO SERVICE ORGANIZATION AND THESE THESE STRONG BONDS THAT WE'VE BUILT OVER THE LAST 3 OR 4 YEARS. AND WE'VE PULLED TOGETHER FOR LIGHT THE WORLD GIVING MACHINE AND UNITY FALL FESTIVAL WE'VE PULLED TOGETHER FOR THIS EVENT, ATTRACTING OUT OF TOWN VISITORS.I KNOW THAT'S IMPORTANT TO THIS BOARD. AGAIN, WE TALKED ABOUT LIGHT THE WORLD GIVING MACHINE AND THE CONTEXT THAT WE HAVE WITH THOSE CHURCHES, MOSQUES AND TEMPLES THROUGH OUR CONNECTIONS THERE, WHICH WE'VE TALKED ABOUT, AND BUSINESS CONTACTS AND MULTICULTURAL DIVERSITY. WE REALLY FEEL THAT THIS APPEALS TO A BROADER AUDIENCE. IT'S NOT JUST A5K RUN. AND I'M HOPING THAT'S THE MESSAGE THAT YOU'RE HEARING, AND IT SHOULD BE A BROADER AUDIENCE. SHOWCASING MCKINNEY 1700 PARTICIPANTS THIS INITIAL YEAR. WE PLAN ON DOING THIS ANNUALLY AND BENEFIT OF NEIGHBOR HUB. WE DO PLAN TO ATTRACT MEDIA. IF YOU'VE SEEN LIKE THE WORLD GIVING MACHINE PRESS AND YOU KNOW, A GORGEOUS SPREAD IN THIS MAGAZINE WHICH GOES TO 2 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES FOR THE LIGHT THE WORLD GIVING MACHINE, WE TIE INTO SOME OF THOSE SAME BACK END SOURCES TO HELP DRIVE THIS EVENT AS WELL. SO YOU CAN JUST SEE, I'M SURE YOU'VE READ THROUGH THIS AND WHERE WE'VE ENGAGED WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES AND HOW THIS DEMONSTRATES MCKINNEY VALUES, BUT I DO WANT US TO HAVE TIME TO GO THROUGH THE ACTUAL MARKETING PLAN. YES.
HI. THANK YOU FOR HAVING US, MADAM CHAIR AND MADAM PRESIDENT AND BOARD. MY NAME IS STACY WRIGHT AND I TOO AM COLD. SO WE'LL HURRY THROUGH THIS. AS FAR AS OUR MARKETING CAMPAIGN GOES, THERE'S FIVE DELIVERABLES THAT WE'RE FOCUSING ON. THIS IS A FIRST YEAR EVENT. SO WE REALLY ARE HEAVILY RELYING ON MARKETING SO THAT WE CAN BE NEXT YEAR. WE CAN BE HERE LIKE THE DIA DE LOS MUERTOS PEOPLE. AND YOU'RE GOING TO BE WONDERING HOW WE'RE GOING TO FIT EVERYBODY IN OUR RUN. BUT THE FIRST ONE WOULD BE PRINT FLIERS, WHICH WE'VE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH IN SOME OF THE OTHER EVENTS THAT KEITH HAS MENTIONED. THE SECOND ONE WOULD BE YARD SIGNS, WHICH WOULD BE THE ONES THAT YOU TYPICALLY TYPICALLY SEE AROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD JUST TWO BY TWO FOOT SIGNS PROMOTING THE EVENT AS WELL. THE THIRD ONE WOULD BE CAMPAIGN STYLE SIGNS. THESE WOULD BE YOUR LARGER ONES THAT YOU WOULD SEE AROUND ELECTION TIME THAT WOULD BE PLACED STRATEGICALLY THROUGHOUT THE AREA, NOT JUST MCKINNEY, BUT THROUGH COLLIN COUNTY. WE HAVE SOME SOME COMMERCIAL CONNECTIONS WITH DESANTIS GROUP AND HIGHLAND HOMES AND SOME OTHER NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO PUT THOSE IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS, WHICH WILL BRING PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE OF MCKINNEY TO OUR EVENT. THE FOURTH ITEM WE'D HAVE ON OUR MARKETING BUDGET WOULD BE SOCIAL MEDIA JUST TARGETED META ADS AND INSTAGRAM AND THINGS LIKE THAT TO INCREASE OUR REACH THERE IN AND AROUND MCKINNEY AS WELL. AND THE LAST ITEM WOULD BE A MARKETING VIDEO, WHICH WE LOOK FORWARD TO PUTTING TOGETHER TO HIGHLIGHT NEIGHBOR HUB AND ITS GOAL OF MEETING THE NEEDS OF THOSE WITH HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AND OTHER ESSENTIAL NEEDS, AS WELL AS HIGHLIGHTING MAYBE A PERSONAL STORY OF SOMEBODY THAT'S BENEFITED FROM THOSE NEEDS AND WHY THAT'S A CRITICAL THING THAT WE'RE TAKING CARE OF. AS FAR AS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN MCKINNEY.
KEITH TOUCHED ON A FEW OF THESE, BUT THERE WOULD OBVIOUSLY BE SOCIAL MARKETING AND OTHER WAYS THAT THEY CAN CONNECT. MAN, I'M SORRY THAT YOU'RE GOING TO MISS THE BUDGET SPIEL, BECAUSE THAT'S MY FAVORITE PART OF BEING A CPA. GO AHEAD AND JUST GO AHEAD AND DO THAT. OKAY, SO AS FAR AS OUR BUDGET GOES, WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE OF THE BOARD HERE, WE LOOK FORWARD TO HOPEFULLY CONTRIBUTING $32,000 TOWARDS THE MCKINNEY HUB PROJECT OR THE NEIGHBOR HUB PROJECT. AND THEN THE BREAKDOWN ON THE LAST SLIDE IS JUST THE PORTION THAT WE'RE ASKING FOR IS FOR THE MARKETING TOTAL OF $10,550. SO AND THEN WE STAND FOR QUESTIONS. SORRY FOR THE LENGTH. SO IN REGARDS TO THE MARKETING VIDEO, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BE USING IT FOR IF YOU WANT TO SPEAK TO THAT. SURE.
YEAH. SO THE PLAN IS TO PUT TOGETHER SOMETHING THAT HIGHLIGHTS A CLIENT OF ONE OF OUR CORE TENANTS. RIGHT. AND WE'RE WORKING WITH HOPE RESTORED MISSIONS OUT OF PLANO. AND TONIGHT I'M MEETING SOME OF THOSE POSSIBLE CLIENTS THAT THEY SERVE AND WHERE IT WOULD BE
[02:20:05]
DISTRIBUTED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA AND THROUGH EMAIL CAMPAIGNS AND ON THE WEBSITE AND ON THE REGISTRATION SITE. OKAY. THANK YOU. ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? THANK YOU, THANK YOU,[Consider/Discuss Promotional and Community Event Grant Application Submitted by SBG Hospitality (PC 25-15) in the Amount of $15,000.00 for the Advertising, Marketing and Promotion of the 2025 Sip and Stroll Series.]
THANK YOU. NEXT ITEM 24 DASH 2274 CONSIDER DISCUSS PROMOTIONAL COMMUNITY EVENT GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY SBG HOSPITALITY PC 2515. IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 FOR THE ADVERTISING MARKETING PROMOTION OF THE 2025 SIP AND STROLL SERIES. ALL RIGHT. GOOD MORNING.GOOD MORNING, MADAM CHAIR. MADAM PRESIDENT, AND ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE MCDC BOARD. IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE HERE. MY NAME IS IRIS GONZALEZ, AND I'M THE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS FOR SPG HOSPITALITY, AN EVENT MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTION COMPANY THAT IS LOCATED RIGHT HERE IN MCKINNEY.
AND TODAY, I STAND BEFORE YOU TO DISCUSS OUR CONTINUING ONGOING. MCKINNEY SIP AND STROLL SERIES FOR 2025. WE ARE TRULY EXCITED FOR THE RETURN OF THE MCKINNEY SIP AND STROLL SERIES. OUR MISSION IS TO BRING TOGETHER LOCAL AND OUTSIDE MCKINNEY RESIDENTS, MCKINNEY RESIDENTS, AND OUTSIDE RESIDENTS WITH A UNIQUE WAY TO EXPLORE DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY. STEP INSIDE THE CHARMING SHOPS OF THE LOCAL MERCHANTS WHILE SAVORING DELICIOUS DRINKS. BEYOND PROVIDING A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE, THESE STROLLS SIGNIFICANTLY BOOST SALES AND FOOT TRAFFIC FOR DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS. IT ATTRACTS BOTH LOCAL AND VISITORS ALIKE TO HELP KEEP MCKINNEY. MCKINNEY THRIVING AND TOP OF MIND FOR TOURISM. ON AVERAGE, 1100 ATTENDEES VISIT THE MERCHANT SHOPS, GOING THROUGH THE DOORS TO SIP AND SHOP, WHICH DRIVES TAX REVENUE IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY. THE SIP AND STROLL HAS EVEN BECOME SO CHERISHED BY THE LOCAL MERCHANTS THAT THE SIGN UP PROCESS HAD TO BE ADJUSTED TO A RANDOM LOTTERY SYSTEM, BECAUSE SO MANY MERCHANT SHOPS WANTED TO PARTICIPATE. HERE'S WHAT WE HEARD FROM ONE MERCHANT, MIKE FROM MIKE OFF THE SQUARE. IT'S SUCH A BIG PART OF OUR BUSINESS, AND IF THE SIP AND STROLLS WENT AWAY, THERE'S NO WAY I COULD REPLACE THAT BUSINESS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT WALK IN THE DOOR THAT WOULD NEVER HAVE SEEN OUR BUSINESS IF NOT FOR THESE, EVEN IF THEY DON'T BUY SOMETHING THAT DAY, IT'S AMAZING HOW MANY PEOPLE COME BACK LATER AFTER THE EVENT DATE. THIS IS JUST ONE TESTAMENT OF HOW IMPORTANT THESE STROLLS HAVE BEEN TO OUR MERCHANTS IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY. WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE ATTENDEES THAT COME TO THESE EVENTS, 86% OF THE ATTENDEES IN 2024 WERE PEOPLE WHO CAME FROM OUTSIDE MCKINNEY. IN 2023, 79% OF THE ATTENDEES WERE OUTSIDE OF MCKINNEY, A 7% INCREASE. WHILE THIS IS FOR A FOR PROFIT EVENT, THE EVENT DOES GIVE BACK TO A LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2024, WE DONATED MORE THAN $10,000 TO LOCAL NONPROFITS SUCH AS HUGS CAFE, MCKINNEY, MAIN STREET AND TRAFFIC 911. IT IS OUR HOPE TO DONATE THAT SAME AMOUNT, IF NOT MORE, TO OUR BELOVED NONPROFIT PARTNERS IN 2025. THE SUCCESS OF THESE STROLLS IS EVIDENT IN THE ATTENDANCE AND THE FEEDBACK WE RECEIVED FROM THE MERCHANT SHOPS, SUCH AS MIKE FROM MIKE'S OFF THE SQUARE. IN 2025, WE PLAN ON OFFERING FOR SIP AND STROLL EVENTS FOR OUR SERIES, WHERE ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE A SIGNATURE EVENT CUP AND MAP, GUIDING THEM THROUGH THEIR TASTING ADVENTURE IN DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY, AND THE EVENT THEMES VARY. WE HAVE FOUR DIFFERENT ONES STARTING IN MARCH. ON MARCH 15TH, WE HAVE THE MCKINNEY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY BEER WALK. ON JUNE 14TH, WE HAVE THE MCKINNEY CRAFT BEER WALK. JULY 12TH. THE MOST FAN FAVORITE IS THE MCKINNEY MARGARITA STROLL. OCTOBER 25TH IS THE MCKINNEY SPOOKTACULAR BREWS AND BOOZE WALK. IN 2025. THESE ARE EVENTS THAT PEOPLE LOOK FORWARD TO. THEY ARE EXCITED NOT ONLY FOR THE TASTY BEVERAGES, BUT THEY ARE ACTUALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE IRISH MUSIC OR THE HAWAIIAN LEIS THEY RECEIVE, OR THE BEADS THEY RECEIVE, AND THE PHOTO BOOTH EXPERIENCES AND THE COSTUME CONTEST. OUR GOAL IS TO REACH 1500 TICKETS PER EVENT. OUR MEDIAN COST TO HOST THESE EVENTS IS IN THE RANGE OF 20,000 TO $22,000. AFTER COVERING THE HARD COSTS, 20% OF THE NET PROCEEDS IS DONATED TO MCKINNEY MAIN STREET, WITH AN ADDITIONAL 1500 GIVEN TO OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS. TO HELP OFFSET COSTS, WE AIM TO SECURE A 5000IN SPONSORSHIPS FOR EACH OF THESE EVENTS THROUGH OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS PRESENTING SPONSOR AND PHOTO BOOTH BRANDING. THESE CONTRIBUTIONS ARE ESSENTIAL TO SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION OF THIS BELOVED COMMUNITY TRADITION. OUR HOPE IS TO RECEIVE A $15,000 GRANT FROM NCDC TO HELP US ACHIEVE OUR
[02:25:04]
ADVERTISING GOALS. THE ADVERTISING WILL PROMOTE THE MCKINNEY SIP AND STROLL SERIES.OUR MARKETING PLAN FOR THE GRANT INCLUDES $10,000 ALLOCATED TO THE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS LIKE FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM. 2472 FOR PR ASSISTANCE, 392 FOR EVENT FLIERS, 600 FOR UPWORK. CREATING THE ADS AND MARKETING MATERIALS, 4000 FOR MASS TEXT MESSAGES SENT THROUGH SLICK TEXT. THE 15,000 ADVERTISING GRANT WOULD MAKE UP 73% OF OUR ADVERTISING BUDGET, AND WOULD BE INSTRUMENTAL IN THE EVENT'S SUCCESS. WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE A PARTNERSHIP WITH MCDC ON THIS IMPACTFUL AND FUN COMMUNITY SERIES HERE IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION, AND I WELCOME THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE FOR ME TODAY, ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? JUST COMMENTS. NO QUESTIONS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION. FOR ALL THAT ARE LEFT. THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATIONS. AS AS A REMINDER, THE 15 PROMOTIONAL GRANT APPLICATIONS THIS IS PRESENTED.
