TODAY I COME TO YOU WITH GREAT NEWS. OUR ISO SCORES ARE NOW EVEN BETTER. THE MCKINNEY BUILDING INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT HAS NOW BEEN AWARDED A SCORE OF TWO IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE ENFORCEMENT AND TWO IN COMMERCIAL ENFORCEMENT. ISO USES THE BUILDING CODE EFFECTIVENESS GRADING SCHEDULE TO EVALUATE CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT THE NATION. IT USES 50 DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE EFFECTIVE ENFORCEMENT OF BUILDING CODES IN THESE COMMUNITIES. RATINGS ARE ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, WITH ONE BEING THE BEST. THOSE SCORES THEN FACTOR INTO PROPERTY INSURANCE RATES FOR THE COMMUNITY BEING RATED. OUR SCORE OF TWO IN RESIDENTIAL PUTS US IN THE TOP 1% OF BUILDING DEPARTMENTS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. IN THE SCORE OF TWO IN COMMERCIAL PUTS US IN THE TOP 2% OF BUILDING DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF TEXAS. BY COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE SCORE IS IN TEXAS. IN BOTH CATEGORIES ARE SIX. WE'RE PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS COUNCIL'S GOAL OF A SAFE AND SECURE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE BEST POSSIBLE ISO SCORES. AND WE'RE EXCITED THAT THIS COULD BENEFIT THAT THE ENTIRE CITY. NOW, YOU MAY RECALL THAT LAST JUNE, I STOOD BEFORE YOU AND PRESENTED SCORES OF THREE IN RESIDENTIAL AND TWO IN COMMERCIAL. THIS IS ACTUALLY A REVISION OF THE 2024 ASSESSMENT. THERE WAS A COMPONENT THAT WE FELT WE NEEDED TO PUSH FOR A HIGHER SCORE ON, AND WE WON. AND IT PUT US OVER THE LINE TO GET A TWO AND TWO. OUR LAST FULL ASSESSMENT BEFORE THAT WAS IN 2019. WE WERE SCORED AT A FIVE IN RESIDENTIAL AND A FOUR IN COMMERCIAL. THAT MEANS WE IMPROVED THREE AND TWO POINTS RESPECTIVELY. A MULTI POINT INCREASE IS VIRTUALLY UNHEARD OF IN A CONTEXT WHERE YOU HAVE TO FIGHT FOR EVERY POINT. THIS IS HUGE FOR US AND AN ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT WE ARE VERY PROUD OF. THE MAJORITY OF THE CRITERIA FOR THE ISO ASSESSMENT TIE BACK TO THE QUALITY OF OUR PEOPLE, THEIR QUALIFICATIONS, THEIR TRAINING AND THE STANDARDS THAT WE UPHOLD. I BROUGHT THE TEAM WITH ME TODAY BECAUSE THESE FOLKS TRULY DESERVE THE CREDIT FOR THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT. THEIR HARD WORK AND TENACITY IN SEEKING THE KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS THAT HELPED FUEL THIS SCORE ARE TRULY WHAT MAKES US A HIGH PERFORMING ORGANIZATION. COMBINED WITH OUR RECENT RE-ACCREDITATION BY THE INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION SERVICE, YOU CAN REST ASSURED THAT THE MCKINNEY BUILDING INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN VETTED TO THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE NATIONAL STANDARDS AND PROVEN OURSELVES TO BE AMONG THE BEST OF THE BEST. NOW, I WOULD LOVE FOR MY TEAM TO STAND UP AND BE RECOGNIZED. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT EARN MCKINNEY THIS SCORE. I KNOW YOU. TRULY.
