AS YOU MAY KNOW, THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR THAT THE COUNCIL IS GETTING READY OR RAMPING UP TO BEGIN NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR ALL THE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. AND WITH THAT, ON AUGUST 26TH OF THIS YEAR, THE COUNCIL, THAT'S THE DATE THAT THE COUNCIL WILL BE MAKING THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR THE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. AND THOSE THOSE TERMS WILL BEGIN ON OCTOBER 1ST. THE APPLICATION SUBMISSION PERIOD IS CURRENTLY OPEN AND IT CLOSES ON FRIDAY, JUNE 20TH. AND YOU CAN APPLY ONLINE AND AS AN INCUMBENT, IF YOU WISH TO CONTINUE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR SERVICE, YOU WILL NEED TO REAPPLY USING YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS AND JUST UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION. SO THE HOUSE WAS ORIGINALLY LOCATED HERE ON 401, BUT THE HOUSE YOU SEE THERE AT THE TOP THAT IS THE A BRYAN HOUSE, AND IT WAS CONSTRUCTED CIRCA 1880, AND IT WAS THE FIRST BRICK HOME IN MCKINNEY, AND IT WAS PURCHASED BY MARY JACKSON IN 1926, AND SHE DEMOLISHED IT AND THEN REBUILT THE HOUSE THAT YOU SEE THERE ON THE BOTTOM. MARY JACKSON WAS THE WIFE OF WALTER B JACKSON, AND HE WAS THE CO-OWNER OF THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MCKINNEY DURING THE 19 TENS, AND IT ENDED UP BEING ONE OF THE LARGEST AUTO GARAGES IN COLLIN COUNTY AT THE TIME. AND THEN AFTER HE PASSED AWAY, SHE SOLD HER SHARES OF THE GARAGE AND USED THAT MONEY TO PURCHASE A LOT AND BUILD THIS HOUSE. AND SHE AND DESIGNED IT SPECIFICALLY TO BE A DUPLEX SO THAT SHE COULD HAVE THE RENTAL INCOME. SO VERY FORWARD THINKING ON HER PART. AND SHE LIVED IN THE HOUSE UNTIL HER DEATH IN 1958. AND THEN HERE'S SOME OTHER HISTORIC PEOPLE WHO WERE INVOLVED WITH THE HOUSE. SO ONE OF HER RENTERS WAS MRS. ISAAC PARKER, AND SHE RENTED THE HOUSE AFTER HER HUSBAND PASSED AWAY IN 1934. AND SHE LIVED THERE UNTIL SHE ACTUALLY PURCHASED THE HOUSE FROM MARY'S ESTATE IN 1958. AND SHE AND HER HUSBAND WERE INTERESTING. THEY OPENED CARR'S APPAREL SHOP ON THE SQUARE IN 1929, AND SHE CONTINUED TO OPERATE IT FOR OVER 30 YEARS, AND THE GENTLEMAN THAT YOU SEE THERE, THAT IS WILLIAM MATTHEWS, THAT IS ACTUALLY THE PERSON THAT MARY JACKSON PURCHASED THE HOUSE FROM, AND HE HAD A LARGE DRY GOODS STORE ON THE SQUARE AS WELL. AND THEN THESE ARE SOME OF THE OTHER HISTORICAL PHOTOS. SO THE TOP LEFT IS FROM 1985, AND THE BOTTOM RIGHT IS FROM 2015. AND THEN THIS IS WHAT IT CURRENTLY LOOKS LIKE TODAY. CARR, HAD PASSED AWAY IN 1934, I BELIEVE, JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER THEY OPENED THAT SECOND STORE. AND SO HIS WIFE TOOK OVER AND SHE MANAGED AND OPERATED IT FOR, I THINK, 34 YEARS AFTER THAT. AND SO THEN [00:10:02] WHEN SHE PASSED AWAY, SHE LIVED IN THIS HOUSE UNTIL SHE PASSED AWAY. AND THEN THE CURRENT OWNERS PURCHASED IT IN 1971, AND THEY CURRENTLY STILL LIVE THERE.
