THE ITEMS THAT WERE LISTED BY THE GOVERNOR AS ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED IN THE SECOND SPECIAL SESSION ARE CAMP SAFETY, FLOOD WARNING SYSTEMS, FLOOD EMERGENCY. WE ALL KNOW THIS HAS ALL HAS TO DO WITH THE KERRVILLE FLOODING. NATURAL DISASTER PREPARATION, RECOVERY. ALL OF THESE ELIMINATING STAAR TESTING CUT PROPERTY TAXES. THAT MEANS US THEY'RE LOOKING TO REDUCE THE CAP FROM A 3.5% TO 2.5%, AS IF YOU ALREADY DON'T HAVE RESTRICTIONS OR TIGHT, TIGHT RESTRICTIONS TO LIVE WITHIN THAT WILL AFFECT ALL OF US. IT WAS WILD SEEING THESE PEOPLE SCRAMBLING AROUND DOWNTOWN LOOKING FOR THESE CLUES. I AM THE PUZZLE MASTER, SO I'M THE ONE TORTURING THEM AND I'M GOING TO DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR. BUT LUKE HAS BEEN GREAT AT HELPING ME DEVELOP THE NARRATIVE AROUND THIS ONE. AND WE HAVE BUSINESSES THAT ARE DOING VERY WELL AND THAT ARE OPEN LATER. AND IT'S SEEING A LOT OF SUCCESS. BUT YOU ALSO SEE THOSE THAT HAVEN'T KIND OF GROWN BEYOND THAT INITIAL INVESTMENT. FOR A SMALL OWNER THAT'S STILL RUNNING THE FRONT COUNTER, YOU KNOW, SMALL THINGS. YOU GUYS ARE DOING FANTASTIC. I THINK THAT, BUT I HEAR YOU AS FAR AS THE GROWTH PROBLEMS. TODAY WE ARE GOING OVER JUNE AND I KIND OF WANTED TO TALK ABOUT BEFORE I GO INTO JUNE, KIND OF WHAT THE FUTURE LOOKS LIKE FOR FINANCIALS. WITH THE STATE LAW CHANGING AND US HAVING TO HAVE AGENDAS POSTED A WHOLE WEEK BEFORE Y'ALL'S BOARD MEETINGS AND ALL THAT STUFF, WE HAVE TO HAVE IT IN A FEW DAYS BEFORE THAT. OKAY. SO LOOKING AT JUNE FOR EDC, IT WAS PRETTY ACTIVE MONTH FOR THE EDC. WE COLLECTED A LITTLE OVER $2.1 MILLION IN REVENUE, THE MAJORITY OF THAT COMING FROM SALES TAX. REGARDING EXPENDITURES, WE HAD 336,000. IN OPERATIONAL EXPENSES, WE HAD $15.1 MILLION DOLLARS IN PROJECT EXPENSES. THIS WAS THE TRANSFER OVER TO THE AIRPORT PROJECT. WE ALSO CONTRIBUTION TO THAT. THEN WE HAD NON-DEPARTMENTAL EXPENSES OF 245,000. SO TOTAL EXPENSES FOR JUNE WAS $15.68 MILLION. SALES TAX. SO THE SALES TAX THAT WE COLLECTED IN JUNE APPLIES TO APRIL SALES. AND YOU CAN SEE WE HAD A 2.2% INCREASE. THAT BRINGS OUR YEAR TO DATE TO 2.5%. ALLEN HAD A 3.3% INCREASE, FRISCO HAD A 4.4% INCREASE AND PLANO HAD A SLIGHT DECREASE. PLANO ACTUALLY HAD AUDIT COLLECTIONS THAT HURT THEM. THEY'RE REALLY AROUND A 2%[00:40:05]
INCREASE. WE ACTUALLY HAD AUDIT COLLECTIONS THAT HURT US AS WELL. WE WERE CLOSER TO A 4% INCREASE. BIG PICTURE THOUGH, WE'RE AT 2.5%. WE BUDGETED 5%. SO THIS FAR INTO THE YEAR, WE'RE A LITTLE BIT BELOW WHAT WE WHERE WE EXPECT TO END, BUT CURRENT PROJECTIONS HAVE US PRETTY CLOSE TO THAT, YOU KNOW, FOUR AND A HALF, 5% MARK WITH THE NEXT FEW MONTHS COMING IN AND WHAT WE'VE SEEN. BUT IT'S STILL SOMETHING THAT WE'RE MONITORING ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS. AND THEN WE'VE KIND OF TALKED ABOUT WHAT NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET LOOKS LIKE, THAT WE'RE BUDGETING A 3% INCREASE IN SALES TAX. IF WE'RE LOOKING AT SALES TAX BY INDUSTRY, YOU CAN SEE THAT AT THIS POINT IN THE YEAR, WE'VE HAD SO MANY MONTHS THAT IT STAYS PRETTY CONSISTENT UNLESS THERE'S SOMETHING DRASTIC THAT HAPPENS. RETAIL TRADE BEING 5% IS VERY STRONG AT, YOU KNOW, INDICATION OF REALLY WHAT THIS YEAR HAS BEEN. IT'S BEEN A LOT BETTER THAN MAYBE THE 2.5% SHOWS THAT BIG AUDIT COLLECTION TO THAT ADMIN CATEGORY. YOU'LL SEE THAT WE HAD A DECREASE IN $1 MILLION IS REALLY WHAT'S KIND OF HURTING US THIS YEAR. THAT BUSINESS THAT GOT RELOCATED TO DALLAS. BUT OVERALL YOU CAN SEE THAT RETAIL TRADE'S 5%, FOOD SERVICES, 9%, 9% CONSTRUCTION IS A LITTLE DOWN AS WELL. BUT OVERALL, I THINK RETAIL TRADE IS THE BIGGEST INDICATOR OF HOW MCKINNEY HAS DONE THIS YEAR AND KIND OF MOVING FORWARD SAYING THAT, I'LL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. QUESTIONS?
