AND, UM, WE LOST 15 MILLION OF THAT.
AND WHAT HAPPENED WAS THERE IS THE BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL KIND OF KILLED SOME THINGS YOU COULD SAY ARBITRARILY, BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS.
THAT'S WHAT BILLS ARE FOR, IS TO CHANGE THINGS.
BUT WE DIDN'T REALLY HAVE MUCH NOTICE.
SO THERE WERE SOME PROJECTS THAT IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT DONE, AND WE DIDN'T BECAUSE WE HAD STARTED ON IT, BUT, UH, WE DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS AN URGENT ISSUE.
AND SO IF THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT WAS NOT COMPLETE, THEN YOU WERE NOT FUNDED ANYMORE.
SO I DON'T ANTICIPATE THERE'S A GOOD WAY TO GET THAT 15 MILLION BACK FROM THAT PARTICULAR PIECE OF LEGISLATION.
WE'RE KIND OF TURNING OVER A FEW ROCKS TO SEE IF THERE'S ANYWHERE ELSE WE CAN DO IT, BUT I WOULD EXPECT SOME KIND OF FINALITY THUMBS UP OR THUMBS DOWN ON THAT PRETTY QUICK.
AND IT'S GONNA BE, I THINK, BY AND LARGE, A FINANCIAL DECISION FOR COUNCIL, I THINK IS THE WAY IT'S WORKING OUT.

SO, UM, EVERYTHING RANGING FROM, UH, EMPTY BOWLS TO, UH, THE, UH, ASIAN FESTIVAL THAT'S COMING UP, I THINK THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH IT, UH, OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.
UM, SO IN TOTAL, I THINK THERE WAS ABOUT 12 TO 15, UH, PROMOTIONAL GRANTS THAT WERE AWARDED.
I KNOW THAT IMPACTS FOR VISIT MCKINNEY BECAUSE THAT BRINGS IN A LOT OF PEOPLE, POSSIBLY NOT A LOT OF HOTEL STAYS.
MOST OF THESE ARE ONE NIGHT, UH, EVENT OR ONE DAY EVENTS.
UM, BUT, BUT THOSE ARE, UM, UH, FUN TO GO THROUGH AND, AND THEN TO ATTEND.
UM, WE ALSO ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF, UH, A COUPLE OF RETAIL INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS.

UH, AND THEN THERE'S MULTIPLE ITEMS THAT ARE REALLY KICKING INTO GEAR NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS, IS COOLER FOR ACTIVITIES THAT MCDC HAS FUNDED, UM, UH, EITHER IN THIS LAST CYCLE OR EARLIER IN THE YEAR.

SO LOOKING AT THE DATA OF, UM, THE, UH, CURRENT HOTELS THAT REPORT THAT ARE CLOSE TO THOSE NUMBERS, WE EXPECT ONCE THEY'RE KIND OF FULLY UP AND RUNNING AND START GETTING THEIR CAPACITY, THAT EACH, THE AC WILL PROBABLY BRING IN CLOSE TO ABOUT 30,000 A MONTH.
AND THEN THE AVID MAYBE BETWEEN 10 AND 15.
SO THAT WILL BE A STRONG NUMBERS FOR US NEXT YEAR.

UM, THE ONE THAT'S SHOWING UP THERE NOW, THEY WERE AT 91, ALMOST 92%.
AND THE PREVIOUS MONTH THEY WERE AT ALMOST 95% OCCUPANCY.
UM, I KNOW I WAS OUT, BUT THE REST OF THE TEAM STOPPED BY AND VISITED THEM.
AND THEY JUST TALKED ABOUT HOW THE GROUPS THAT ARE COMING IN, THEY'VE BEEN HOSTING SOME CHICK-FIL-A GROUPS AND A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION GROUPS.
SO WE JUST KIND OF WANTED TO GIVE THEM A LITTLE SHOUT OUT.

THERE'S A LOT HAPPENING, AND THERE'S A TRAJECTORY OF THAT'S HAPPENING IN THE DESTINATION.
UH, I CURRENTLY FEEL THAT WE ARE BELOW THAT TRAJECTORY, AND I WANT TO, UH, CONTINUE TO KIND OF, UH, AMP UP OUR MARKETING EFFORTS AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE LOUDER IN THE MARKET AND, AND MAKING, UH, SURE THAT PEOPLE KNOW WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER HERE IN MCKINNEY.

AND SO WHEN YOU SEE THAT WORD THROUGHOUT THIS DATA, JUST KNOW THAT, THAT WHEN A VISITOR IS HERE, THEY'RE COMING FROM 50 MILES OUT.
IF YOU SEE LOCAL VISITOR, WHICH IS SOMETHING NEW THEY'VE ADDED, THAT'S GONNA BE SOMEONE COMING FROM WITHIN 50 MILES.
SO A CLOSER RADIUS, MORE OF A REGIONAL VISITOR, UH, BUT THEY DO NOT LIVE INSIDE THE CITY LIMITS OF MCKINNEY.
AND THEN LOCALS ARE OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE WHO LIVE INSIDE THE CITY OF MCKINNEY.
WHAT WE SAW, JUST KEY INSIGHTS OVERALL DURING THE 2025 EVENT, VISITORS ACCOUNTED FOR A LARGER SHARE OF TOTAL SPEND.
UH, IT WAS A 1% TICK UP FROM 2024, SO 29%, UH, OF THE SPEND IN MCKINNEY, UH, DURING THAT WEEKEND WAS FROM VISITORS.

A SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER SHARE OF OUT-STATE VISITORS THIS YEAR, MEANING PEOPLE WHO CAME FROM FURTHER AWAY.SO IT WAS 57% FOR 2025 VERSUS 52%, UM, IN PREVIOUS, IN 2024.
SO THE, UH, IF YOU LOOK AT OVERALL DATA, THE EVENT DID ATTRACT, UH, A HIGHER SHARE OF, UH, RESIDENTS THAN IT DID VISITORS BY JUST A LITTLE BIT THIS YEAR.
BUT THE VISITORS WHO DID COME, CAME FROM FURTHER AWAY.
THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN ALL SPENDING CATEGORIES FOR THIS EVENT.
UM, SO ONE SECOND, UH, VISITOR SHARE OF TOTAL SPENDING GREW ACROSS, UM, ALL THE PRIMARY CATEGORIES.
LODGING, DINING, SHOPPING, UM, PARTICULARLY STRIKING WAS THE ACCOMMODATION SECTOR.
SO OUR HOTELS, UM, WERE, UM, UH, MORE VISITORS THAN LAST YEAR, WHICH WAS 94%, UH, WHICH IN A 5% INCREASE YEAR OVER YEAR.
SO THAT MEANS, UH, MORE OF OUR HOTEL STAYS CAME FROM PEOPLE WHO WERE FROM F UH, MORE THAN 50 MILES AWAY, UH, OR GREATER.
ALL OF THE OUT-OF-STATE MARKETS SHOWED AN INCREASE YEAR OVER YEAR, EXCEPT FOR OUR LOCAL DFW MARKET, WHICH IS, UH, REALLY INTERESTING.
UM, SO WE SAW, UM, SHREVEPORT DOUBLE FROM FOUR TO EIGHT.
UM, AND CHICAGO TRIPLED FROM ONE TO THREE.
UH, I ATTRIBUTE THIS TO, UM, MR. GRIME'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS FROM CHICAGO, UH, COMING TO VISIT THE BYRON, I GUESS, UM, WE ACTUALLY SEE A LOT OF CHICAGO, UH, INCREASE IN ALL OF OUR VISITOR DATA, NOT JUST FOR THIS EVENT, BUT, UM, YEAR OVER YEAR DATA AS WELL.
IF YOU LOOK AT, UM, THE SPENDING IMPACT ON THE CJ CUP, 35% OF PEOPLE, UM, THAT ARE, UH, UH, WHAT IT WAS, UH, OF THE SPEND, 35% CAME FROM PEOPLE THAT ARE VISITORS, WHICH IS A 5% DECREASE.
AGAIN, OUR VISITOR NUMBER OVER OVERALL DECREASED.
BUT, UH, UH, AND THE RESIDENT NUMBER INCREASED AT THIS YEAR'S.
BYRON, UH, 29%, UM, OF SPEND, UM, UH, WAS FROM, UM, I'M SORRY, I LOST MY TRACK, UH, WAS, YEAH, FROM VISITORS AND 57% WAS FROM OUTSTATE VISITORS, WHICH WAS THE INCREASE OF 5%.
THE IMPACT ON THE LOCAL ECONOMY.
AGAIN, ACCOMMODATIONS WERE AT 94%, A 5% INCREASE FROM LAST YEAR, UM, FROM VISITORS AND LOCAL VISITORS.
UH, RESTAURANT SPEND 37% FROM VISITORS AND LOCAL VISITORS, AND THEN RETAIL 44%, UH, FROM VISITORS AND LOCAL VISITORS DURING THE WEEKEND OF THE BUYER AND THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF MCKINNEY.
I THINK A GOOD WAY YOU CAN LOOK AT THIS IS IF YOU TOOK THE BUYER IN AWAY, UH, 37% OF THE SPEND THAT WEEK AND, UH, FROM OUR RESTAURANTS GOES AWAY, UM, UH, YOU KNOW, THERE, THAT'S THE IMPACT THAT THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPEN HAVE ON THE COMMUNITY AND THE ECONOMIC IMPACT THAT SPREADS OUT ACROSS THE DIFFERENT SECTORS.
IS THERE A, UH, DOLLAR VALUE ATTACHED TO THAT? I DON'T HAVE A DOLLAR VALUE IN THIS DATA.

UM, OF THE SECTORS, UH, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, YOU SEE HOUSTON, SHREVEPORT, OKLAHOMA CITY, WICHITA FALLS, ALL THE OTHERS WERE EITHER THE SAME OR GREATER IN 2025 FROM OUR, FROM THOSE VISITORS.
BUT YOU SEE, DALLAS-FORT WORTH, UM, ACTUALLY WAS A DECREASE AS FAR AS THE, UH, PE THE VISITORS FROM KIND OF THE DFW REGION.
THIS IS A, UH, LITTLE HEAT MAP THAT SHOWS, UM, THIS IS ONLY VISITOR AND LOCAL VISITOR.
AND SO THE ORANGE AND BLUE DOTS REPRESENT THOSE, THOSE GUESTS.
