IF YOU ARE HERE THIS EVENING AND WISH TO SPEAK DURING A PUBLIC COMMENT SECTION, PLEASE COMPLETE A SPEAKER CARD. STATE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS FOR THE RECORD AND LIMIT YOUR REMARKS TO THREE MINUTES. OKAY, SO THIS EVENING, I'M BRINGING FORWARD HISTORIC MARKER APPLICATION FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 210 SOUTH BRADLEY STREET ON BEHALF OF THE OWNERS, LINDSEY. AND THEY ARE HERE THIS EVENING. SO THE DAVIS LUCAS HOUSE WAS CONSTRUCTED AROUND 1888. AND THE GOTHIC REVIVAL SLASH FOLK VICTORIAN STYLE. THE HOME WAS CONSTRUCTED WITH WOOD SIDING, HAS A STEEPLY PITCHED CROSS-GABLED ROOF WITH GOTHIC REVIVAL STYLE FRONT GABLES, AND SITS ON A PIER AND BEAM FOUNDATION. IT IS A LOW PRIORITY, WHICH MEANS IT TYPIFIES A COMMON LOCAL BUILDING FORM, ARCHITECTURAL STYLE, OR TYPE WITH NO IDENTIFIED HISTORICAL ASSOCIATIONS. IS A MODERATE TO SEVERELY ALTERED RESOURCE WITH REVERSIBLE MODIFICATIONS. AND HERE ARE SOME OF THE HISTORIC INFORMATION YOU DID RECEIVE. THE FULL PACKET IN THE AGENDA. THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE HIGHLIGHTS. THE HOME WAS ORIGINALLY CONSTRUCTED BY THE WILLIAM DAVIS FAMILY, WHO WERE THE ONES WHO DONATED 120 ACRES FOR THE OFFICIAL ESTABLISHMENT OF MCKINNEY IN 1848 49. THE HOME WAS THEN PURCHASED BY THE GABRIEL LUCAS FAMILY, WHO USED THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE AS LUCAS STUDIOS PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIOS FOR MANY GENERATIONS. ACCORDING TO JAMES, I JUST TALKED TO AND MRS. LUCAS AFTER HER HUSBAND PASSED AWAY, SHE RAISED HER 11 CHILDREN IN THE HOUSE AND CONTINUED TO LIVE THERE UNTIL HER PASSING IN 1948. AND THAT PHOTO THERE AT THE TOP IS PHOTO OF THE HOUSE IN 1948, AND THEN BELOW WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE IN 1985. AND THESE ARE SOME OTHER PREVIOUS ELEVATIONS, ALSO FROM 1985 AT THE TOP AND THEN BELOW. IN 2005. AND THESE ARE THE CURRENT ELEVATIONS. AND STAFF DOES RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THIS REQUEST. AND THAT CONCLUDES MY PRESENTATION. THANK YOU. REINA. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS FOR REINA? IT LOOKS LIKE MOSTLY WHAT THEY'VE DONE IS THEY'VE REPLACED WHAT THE ROOF WAS REPLACED WITH THE METAL ROOF, AND THEN IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S BEEN ADDED ON TO THE BACK PRETTY SIGNIFICANTLY. MOST OF THE ALTERATIONS I THINK WERE WERE IN THE REAR REAR ADDITIONS.

WE HAVE THE HOMEOWNERS HERE WITH US, DO WE NOT? WOULD YOU GUYS LIKE TO COME UP AND SAY A FEW WORDS? WE'LL TRY TO BE VERY CONCISE, BUT I JUST LOVE LIVING IN THIS HOME. I LOVE MCKINNEY, MY HEART IS HERE AND THE PREVIOUS LUCAS FAMILY ANCESTORS. I'VE HAD MANY A CONVERSATION WITH THEM AND THEIR LOVE FOR THIS HOME IS WHY WE WANTED TO APPLY FOR THIS. BECAUSE THE LUCAS STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHED PRETTY MUCH ALL THE CITIZENS OF MCKINNEY WHENEVER THERE WERE SOME RENOVATIONS DONE, BUT THE FRONT OF THE HOME WAS KEPT AS IS BECAUSE OF THE LEGACY OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO. I THINK IN THE 1960S 70S, THEY DID MOVE TO THE SQUARE. IT WASN'T AS COMMON TO HAVE PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO IN THE FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE, BUT BACK IN THE 1900S IT WAS. WE EVEN HAVE ONE OF THE CAMERAS THAT THEY USED AROUND 1910. WOW. WHICH WE STILL HAVE, PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T MOVE IT OUT OF THE HOUSE. IT'S SO HEAVY IN HERE, BUT WE'RE JUST HAPPY AND HOPE THIS HOUSE CAN BE RECOGNIZED BY THE HISTORY THAT IS SO RICH, WHERE WE LIVE AND WANT TO HONOR THE FAMILY. HAVING SOME RELATIVES AND FAMILY HISTORY HERE MYSELF, IT'S JUST REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME. I'M REALLY A PART OF THE, YOU KNOW, EVEN BEFORE THE LUCAS'S, THE FACT THAT IT WAS BUILT BY SOMEBODY WHO GAVE THE THE LAND FOR THE CITY OF MCKINNEY.
