THAT LANGUAGE MATTERS BECAUSE I AM NOT MUSLIM, I AM A CHRISTIAN, AND IN THAT MOMENT I WAS NOT REPRESENTED. I WAS SPOKEN FOR. THIS COUNCIL IS MEANT TO REPRESENT ALL RESIDENTS, NOT DEFINE THEM. SO THE QUESTION IS SIMPLE WHO IS OUR IN A ROOM THAT REPRESENTS EVERYONE? NOW, WITHIN JUST A FEW WEEKS, THIS COUNCIL HAS ISSUED PROCLAMATIONS FOR BOTH RAMADAN AND EASTER. AND THAT ACTUALLY RAISES AN EVEN BIGGER CONCERN, NOT LESS, BECAUSE IT FORCES THE QUESTION, WHAT IS THE STANDARD? IS THE CITY RECOGNIZING ALL RELIGIONS EQUALLY, OR IS THIS HAPPENING WITHOUT ANY CLEAR POLICY AT ALL? BECAUSE WITHOUT A DEFINED STANDARD, RECOGNITION CAN QUICKLY BECOME ALIGNMENT. AND WHEN GOVERNMENT APPEARS TO ALIGN WITH ANY RELIGION, INCLUDING ISLAM, IT CREATES CONFUSION ABOUT WHERE REPRESENTATION ENDS AND ENDORSEMENT BEGINS.
